I decided to give it a go and try the Gear Watch Designer to make some watch faces. I started with my sports teams and then tried a couple premium faces. I'll probably create some more with the faces from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/themes-apps/watchmaker-500-watchfaces-monster-pack-t3276583
Only annoying thing is that I can't delete the stock faces on the watch - several of which I'll never use, and there's a limit of 15 faces you can add. Since I've made 8 faces so far, and downloaded a bunch more, I'm out of space! Guess I like to fiddle too much...
Anyway, feel free to post faces you've made. I'd like to get some ideas of what other guys have come up with...
I've done a few from that thread - but only the non-chronograph versions (There is no Chrono function in Samsung Gear) - I find it easier to use the default AOD. If someone root's the Gear S3 then you'll be able to delete the stock dials

Gotcha. I've rooted lots of phones, but this is my first smartwatch, and my first adventure into Tizen. Would the non-carrier (WiFi) versions be easier/done first? (Seems like Verizon always makes it harder!)
I'm guessing we'll need to root to see the .gwd files on the stock faces too? I'm able to link to the Timer app or the stopwatch app for my chronograph faces, but I'd like to have it switch to something like the Chronograph+ stock face. I just like the look of the chronograph face watches better.
Here's a few more I threw together last night...
Hey how can I get that to work on my gear s3? I installed the zip file to the SD card

You need to get Gear Watch Designer on a PC.
http://developer.samsung.com/gear/design/watch-designer
There are tutorials on how to use it. The files in that zip are components that can be added to make a face. Then you need to install it to the watch from the PC, by disconnecting the Bluetooth connection to your phone, and connecting via WiFi to the same network as the PC with the face file.
I recommend downloading some faces (.gwd files) from the Watchland app on your phone. Send them to your PC, and open them in Gear Watch Designer. Use them as a template to see how to put faces together. (And/or swap in you own components).

Pretty much the same. The second hand disappears, and it dims a little bit, but otherwise the same.

Simple. It would take like two seconds. Gear Watch Designer lets you adjust the color, or if you had a picture of a hand, you could easily swap it in.

PM'd. Note, the left dial is the battery, the right is % of step goal, and tapping them links to respective app. The bottom doesn't move, but links to the timer app. Link to stopwatch not yet supported to my knowledge.
Obviously, edit as you please.

No worries, I'm thinking you meant needle, but it's the second hand.
Just start clicking through the components on the bottom left in Gear Watch Designer until you highlight the second hand. Delete it. Then click, "Watch Hand" on the left, and pick a new one, or import the image of a new one. Edit properties - size, placement, etc. on the right. Done...
Hi I would like to ask if it's possible to edit "this" (image in attachment) preloaded watchface. This one is my favorite but unfortunately there is no possibility to set it up to show date. Any ideas or similar watchfaces? Thanks
This was my favorite as well and i also missed the date, so i created my own watch face (picture attached)
Called G-Dashboard in Galaxy Apps store (hope its available in your country)
Thank you very much for your reply, but unfortunately it's not available in my country. Could you send me apk? Thank you

Its not working:/ maybe you can tell me in which app you create this watchface and I will open this file through this app and resave it.
You will need to use Gear Watch Designer http://developer.samsung.com/gear/design/watch-designer
Attached project file that you can open in GDW and then edit/install on your watch

Oh, now i found out, that on your watchface the weather is missing. :/
Yes, unfortunately weather is impossible to implement in GWD
At this point, what is the most powerful way to design watch faces?
Like get active second hand on AOD and weather?

WatchMaker app you can made ALL (alsmost) you want. You can decide what is displayed in active or AOD.
In latest Gear s3 (Tizen 2.3.2.3) firmware update you can add date into Dashboard watchface

I agree, this is a great watch face. Can the alternate time be set for Seoul Korea?, the date be added and an altimeter added too?
Not tested yet...
But maybe GWD 1.4 Beta have Weather support... lok at changelog...

I know I'm replying to a 5 year old post but I just figured out how to change the widgets on the stock watch faces directly on the phone, without an app and am I sharing it in case anyone lands here from a search.
1) press on the watchface until the watchface switcher appears.
2) swipe to the face you want to edit and tap customize.
3) swipe left or right until the widget you want to change is highlighted, turn the bexel to change the widget, on the Gear Dashboard watchface there are many options available including weather and date.

I'd Love this Watch Face also, wondering if it'll be available for the S3 Frontier also, think it'd look great!
You can freely DL very similar watchface. Look for G-Watch by "italo sovena".
Only difference (unfortunately) is that weather dial is replaced with heart rate.
If you use Facer, there are a few versions of it available. I think this is the cleanest one.
https://www.facer.io/watchface/i5B8Hyu5ce
And if you use Watchmaker search for Samsung Galaxy Watch Tomcat

Thanks, the native GWD version (G-Watch by Sovena) is *excellent*.
I have no problem with replacing the weather with heartrate, since weather on any watchface for the Gear has yet to be implemented properly by any developer that I've seen. I've tried over a dozen with weather, and every one of them results in 7-8% battery drain per hour, whereas all others without it only drain 1-2% per hour.
Not sure why, but there must be a common programming error in the API's themselves that causes it to try and refresh the weather and/or location continuously causing the huge battery drain.
Cheers

What does the min/max represent on the Tomcat top weather dial? Thanks!

Sorry for newbie questions but where to download GWD watch face?
Hello,
Is there any way to install a standalone AOD app? I'm disappointed with most AODs and I really cannot use this feature, because I'm facing one of the two possibilities below:
1. I like the watchface, but not its AOD
2. I like the AOD, but not the watchface

Here's my advice ,
I had your view ( many years ago .)
Not happy with my AOD Watch face .design/how it looks etc etc .
I installed various 3rd party Watch face apps etx Watchmaker /Pujie Black / Facer etc but eventually started using Samsung's Watch face studio (laptop )
I now design a Watch Face .....how i want/like it to be !!!
By now , I must have created hundreds of Watch faces ( for my person use )
Most users think of Samsung Watch Face Studio ,as a to difficult learning curve ? ,however i found that with my previous understanding of using above 3 rd party Watch apps it was actually very easy .!!!
Good Luck .
See Sceenshots attached
It seems to be a good idea, I'll try! Thank you
