I haven't found a way yet because of twrp problems, but you can try outjusting some kernel settings and deep sleep options with kernel managers. I recomend SmartPack, free and open source kernel manager avaible on F-droid.

Crashes when trying to install aosp or gsi images, sideload not working, wipeing problems, etc. It is something in the new build, I wasn't getting does on the old build.
@James 144
Try disabeling force doze in smart pack.
And try copying these settings

Follow this guide and make sure to start with a clean flash first. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/installing-twrp-and-linageos.4334465/
I just got one of these basically free from AT&T that I plan to use only for hotspotting, my main device is an S21+.
I have sm-a125u, the only firmware I can find online for ATT is sm-a125u1
What's the difference? Is it the same? Can I flash it? Or can I just flash any other carrier's firmware instead?
I'm not even going to use this thing for anything other than a hotspot, I just want to root it so I can hotspot while tricking the carrier into thinking it's just mobile data use (since I'm on Unlimited Elite plan).
I don't have the OEM Unlock option in my dev settings, tried the time/date trick. So I read somewhere that I needed to flash an Android 10 firmware to it to get that option back, then go ahead and root, then update back to A11, if that's even possible. I don't care about the firmware being a different carrier's as long as mobile data will still work on ATT's network for hotspotting.

try changing the date and time to something old, if that doesn't work take software updates and they should apear.
1. Disable dev options
2. go to date and time and set the date to something very old
3. Enable dev options
4. Oem unlocking should apear now and you can change date and time back to it's origin.

Do you still have the same issue? If you do, try to possibly downgrade fimware. Flashing older fimware will work without unlocking PBL if it's smasung's official fimware. After flashing older fimware OEM unlocking should appear, and you will be able to flash unofficial fimware images after unlocking PBL.
What's the best way to make my A12 as private as possible without losing Samsung and Google features? I want to have most of the features from my Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Google apps without any spyware.
And also, is it possible to install apps such as Netflix and ASB Mobile Banking on a rooted Samsung phone?
Thanks in advance!

This thread is now completely dedicated to the aspect of Carrier Switching on the Snapdragon model of the Galaxy S8/S8+, the current root progress can be seen here:
Current ROOT Progress for G950U/G955U Snapdragon
Please Note that if your device is network locked this WILL NOT unlock it for use on other carriers, however it will allow the switching of carriers and carrier specific features on network unlocked devices just by changing sim cards, the device will reboot and your done. As for those with a network locked device this thread still applies to you, if you are interested in a bloat free experience(that is faster and smoother than stock touchwiz), on your Galaxy S8/S8+
Let's Begin!
Download the firmware for the unlocked S8/S8+ here:
G950U1UE1AQDC_XAA
Download the Prince Cosmy version of Odin here:
Odin_3.12.3_Modified
Enable developer options on your device:
Settings----->About Phone----->Click Build Number 7 times
Enable USB Debugging:
Settings----->Developer Options-----USB Debugging
Put your device into download mode: Volume Down + Bixby + Power
(accept the warning and connect your device to your computer)
Take the G950U1.zip you downloaded in step 1 and extract it, then place the BL,AP,CP,and CSC files into their corresponding places within Odin and press start
Once finished the device will boot back up and you will be free to disconnect it from your computer
You now have the unlocked, bloat free, firmware on your S8/S8+

My build number is SM-G950A and my firmware is G950USQU1AQD9. I am quite familiar with the concept and process of rooting but I have never had an opportunity to actually get into it. I was wondering if my device is compatible with this firmware. If so I am fine with testing so long as there is a reliable way to restore my phone if something were to happen.

I went ahead and did the favors of doing some testing, in terms of restoral anyhow. From my experience, you do not have access to the usual desktop, and you have very few apps by default(none actually, just settings). I was able to revert to the original stock firmware via odin without a hitch. I did not try installing TWRP on this firmware however, but I can confirm the existence of OEM Unlock, which, by itself, claims to unlock the bootloader.

So, what is userdata?
A lot of people think this is carrier bloat only. However, userdata also contains the files necessary to activate carrier specific features. Without it, you may not be able utilize all of the carrier features that the phone is capable of providing. Please note that carrier userdata may not be available for your carrier.

Flash the firmware:
First, extract the compressed firmware to a folder on your PC.
In Odin, begin with the BL (bootloader) box, navigate to the firmware folder and select the file beginning with BL_.
Wait for each file to initialize and appear to the right of its corresponding box before attempting to proceed to the next step.
Now select the AP (Application Processor aka System) box, it should open the correct folder, then select the file beginning with AP_.
AP takes a while to initialize, don't worry.
Now select the CP (Core Processor aka modem) box, then select the file beginning with CP_.
Now select the CSC (Consumer Software Customization aka Carrier Settings) box, then select the file beginning with CSC_.
Choose HOME_CSC to not wipe your phone, or CSC_ (preferred option when switching between unlocked and carrier versions) to wipe your phone .
Optionally, select the userdata (User Data) box, then select the file beginning with USERDATA_.
Now, click start and wait for the magic.
Disconnect the cord when the phone reboots.

Tripped knox is forever. There is a fuse that blows on the phone. That said, there are workarounds on rooted phones (you might as well stay rooted). Try looking for edits for the build.prop to restore functionality to Samsung Health and other affected apps. Dr Ketan still makes ROMs I believe and should have something for you.

I don't want to be rude, but your question was answered already. You can't untrip the know counter. It's an actual fuse, that physically becomes blown. This isn't a software setting, but an actual, physical fuse.
It goes back to the days of people using exploits, and in rare cases would damage their phone in the process, but the phone worked enough to relock the bootloader. Then the person would send their phone back and blame it on the manufacturer. So now Samsung decided to put in an actual fuse so that if you decide to unlock it, your warrenty is permanently void.
Bottom line, your out of luck. I know any unlock would have given a warning that it is PERMANENT and that it would VOID YOUR WARRENTY. Wether you read it and ignored the warning, or didn't bother to read it, it's on you for unlocking your bootloader.

Yea I remember those days... Well truth is I haven't rooted.. I was considering it until I read the warranty part... My point is, the reason I want it rooted is because I want to use some modded applications. I researched further and found out I could use some without even rooting. So i tried downloading Spotify mod app, but unfortunately it didn't work. I couldn't get recent application for it, what I kept getting was an outdated mod app. In all it didn't work. So am asking if there's a way to use mod apps without rooting the phone. Thank you

You'll have to wait until someone mods the latest app. Or, you could just pay for Spotify. For the record, I used to use a modded Spotify, and they typically patch within a day or two of a modded apk being released. They may have finally switched to server side authentication which is why your likely not seeing an updated version. I stopped bothering because it's just a cat and mouse game. I didn't feel like Spotify was worth it, so I moved on.
I find Google Play Music is a better deal. I get add-free YouTube, and all the same music as Spotify, for the same price.
On a side note, I don't believe Xda allows modded apks that bypass paid features. There are sites that cater to such things, but I'm pretty sure it's a no-no here. They tend to support devs / companies as opposed to cheating them out of money.

Hi, you can flash the U1 firmware on the Sprint 965U. You need to use the patched Odin linked in the OP. The CSC file included is for multiple carriers. When flashing it will read your sim and setup accordingly.
Umm what's new? The "I" September patch Odin's have been out since mid September.

Should be fine , your U1 is unlocked. The sim card in Argentina might not set up the APN for you regardless of what firmware you're on. Personally, I would use the U1 firmware though.

I don't use the "B" revision firmwares, but there was at least one listed as a BOYD firmware. Since your already on U1 and loosing wifi-calling, HD voice, volte, etc, that might give you the best luck. Might be something to look into.

You asked about sim swapping for traveling. The BYOD firmware makes for easier sim swapping. It's designed to populate the carrier settings when you insert a sim instead of needing to wipe your device.
As for ATT features, I believe those firmware are for the U firmware, so yes, you'd regain those features, but you'd get the ATT bloat. I don't mind the bloat personally. I just remove the junk I don't need.
Hello,
Just wanted to share this with the community as I found this just yesterday. If you goto your settings and click connections then "More connection settings" towards the bottom there is an option for "Network Unlock". I did this like I said yesterday and it permanent unlocked the phone. I don't have any other SIM cards to try and see if it will go on a different network but just wanted to point this out to the community!

It's our specific model.
There are no 205u units in public domain that exist with an oem toggle.
It's disabled by default in the 205u source.
The only way this might be possible is with combination firmware but in all my searching so far i have yet to find bootloader 5 combination firmware ...
If anyone can find me a bootloader 5 android 10 combination firmware for the 205U varient i would be willing to see if there would be a way to get this rooted and bootloader unlocked

The combination file is from an older bootloader, so it retains the most recent bootloader to maintain integrity of the Qfuse.
That's kinda why we want the combination file for 10, the bootloader hasn't changed which means the file would be universal for anyone who updates.

At the moment, all U devices are unrootable.
Try this

Basically the title. I received my Chinese Edge S today, so far I like it but I've barely used it. I thought I got a model with Gapps preloaded, but I was wrong (big surprise). I sideloaded Play Store, but haven't gotten much farther. Unlocking the bootloader was a little difficult, I had to factory reset, with the SIM card installed, to get "OEM Unlocking" to not be grayed out. But from there it was simple, I used the Motorola website to get the unlock code, ran it, no problem. I just followed the normal Magisk instructions: I installed the Magisk app, found the boot.img file inside the ROM download from the Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant, patched it with Magisk, flashed it via fastboot and I'm rooted. Once I hid Magisk, Google Pay seems to work fine (although it says NFC is not set up...I'll have to test it tomorrow for tap to pay to see if it works; when I go into NFC settings it says Google Pay is default). I'll let you all know how it goes. I also downloaded Google Assistant, but as I suspected it isn't working. I tried to sideload Gapps from Android 10, but it didn't work. I'll have to try TWRP later, or maybe wait until an Android 10 Gapps is available.
EDIT: Since I have root, is there a way install the Gapps? I found BiTGApps which has Android 11 support, but it only lists TWRP install method and there's currently no TWRP for this phone.

Wow, thanks for all this info. That is great that you were already able to root and get Magisk on there with minimal issues. This is pretty much what I do with my phones right out of the box. Regarding that link for Gapps, I read through the start of that thread and the package is definitely what we'll probably need for this phone. But, without a working recovery at this point, I don't think there is another way to install it.
That's awesome that you did that. I received my code from Moto, but I need to factory reset myself to get the OEM unlock slider to not be grayed out. I'm just waiting for the G100 Rom to be available and flash it then.
Until then. its a pretty sweet phone for the money.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase the phone? And where do you live?
Edit: Just saw your answer in the other thread.

It's worth noting that I cancelled my Giztop purchase and bought from Aliexpress instead. Can't remember if I actually said that or not.

Any idea when the G100 ROM will be available?
Can you please describe the steps on how to flash the new ROM?

I imagine it'll be available as soon as the phone itself is, just a matter of someone downloading the G100 ROM with RSA, then uploading it for the rest of us. I also imagine the process will simply be to download it, and rename it so RSA will flash it instead of the Chinese ROM for us, but that's really only speculation at this point. It may have a checksum that would make flashing a little more difficult, in which case it would be a matter of installing TWRP (once available) and then flashing that way.
@HopelesRomantc91
Can you share the URL for unlock code request?
I couldn't unlock with global website...
I think I just used the global one here: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a/
Hello, I have patched boot img to my moto edge S 5g Chinese version and I have magisk root ok but if I restart the motorola it is lost and I have to reinstall boot parched, do you know why?

Thanks for info . İs flashing g100 rom need root device or unlocking bootloader ?
You can manually update to latest Android 11 (April patch)
Bootloader unlock may be required.
Download the ROM https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmwar...-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_cid50_CFC.xml.zip
Unpack the zip and enter bootloader (turn the phone off and press and hold volume down and power it on)
Flash everything EXCEPT radio.img. Failure to do it will result in NO SIM error!
Everything is better with this version ROM. Do not update to Android at this time because it's a mess.
I manually upgraded to A12 on my XT2141-2 as soon as I was able. The only issue I've had was SIM not detected with 1 specific Lsposed module enabled, disabling that one module resolved that though. And ofc not having Gravity Box yet kinda sucks but I've had a blast with new theming possibility with A12 thanks to Repainted and Project Themed apps.
Could you elaborate on any issues you experienced yourself?
Sorry to have to ask this, but what happens if I somehow screw things up? unless I'm mistaken there's no TWRP for this phone (yet) to help with recovery...and how might I go about backing things up before I try to flash a new ROM build on my device? (Still new to things)
edit: addition: probably a stupid question, but I've only ever flashed the `boot.img` file, am I supposed to "fastboot flash" every file over?

No. Everything I've read states that Verizon Phones are hard-locked-down and cannot be rooted, unless there exists or is discovered at some point in the future an exploit to crack such phones. Sorry if that means you're out of luck.
I believe the preferred way of having a rootable phone is to always outright purchase it independently of any carrier. I purchased mine unlocked at a Best Buy.
In case anyone is reading this and getting a 404 on the OG post link for the ROM I found it under this updated link.
