I have a question regarding sync between Samsung Health (not SHM) and GW4.
Does Galaxy Watch 4 requires Samsung Health android app version 6.17+ in order to work? Since my phone (Xperia Z5) is stuck on android 7 officially, my Samsung Health app is also stuck on version 6.15.6.001. I have made few attempts to register manually through Samsung Health by tapping on Galaxy Watch4 register button in the accessories menu ( ≡ > Accessories > Galaxy Watch4 > Register) but it fails to find the watch.
Because of this, my phone Samsung Health app doesn't sync with the watch Samsung Health app.
things i tried:
Manually register from Samsung Health App
Resetting the watch and register through Samsung Health App
Resetting the watch and re-register through Wearable then Samsung Health app
Any Ideas?
Were you able to install the Samsung Wearable app with the Galaxy Watch 4 plugin?

Yes, Galaxy wearable app and GW4 plugins works perfectly, no hiccups.
The libraries for watch4 are inside the Samsung Health in 6.18 but not previous version, so sadly, I don't think it would pair as long as you have the old 6.15 Samsung Health... I would've lowered the android target to 7 but such a small mod may not hold up for too long and end up breaking, if you want to try, let me know and I will lower it for you...

It's okay there's no need. I ended up unlocked the bootloader of my phone and flashed Lineage OS 18 so i can use latest Samsung Health in exchange for battery life and thermal stability.
Edit:
I think you can go ahead and lower the android target 7 and i'll let you know if it works or not. It might help others for the moment if it works

Sure, but I can't test it as a samsung user, samsung health mod never works for samsung phones and as I said, most likely to be break (unstable), so it will be only for you to test and not for the public as it might confuse people or give false hope more than helping them
I will PM you the mod later
EDIT:
Samsung Health MOD is broken due to being a core application, it can't be modified without breaking several services and functions such the cloud backup sync

I deleted that mod long time ago because it was a failure...
Should've updated the post here, sorry

I apologize if this has already been addressed, but I looked through 10 different threads and didn't find what I was seeking. This has been a PITA for me.
So I had a Note Edge and went into the store to trade it for a cheaper phone while grabbing a Gear S2. The cheaper phone I grabbed was a Galaxy Core Prime. I did this because I have a Blackberry Priv that I use as my primary. When I started the S2, Milk was already on there, but so was someone else's contacts, messages, numbers, etc., suggesting that it was evidently a restocked item. When I formatted it, Milk disappeared. Now, had I known that one needed a special high-end Samsung phone to even get Milk on the S2, I obviously would have kept my Note for an extra day to do just that. As it stand, the S2 works perfectly with the Priv, but it cannot access the Milk Companion in the Galaxy Apps Store. My Galaxy Tab S doesn't connect with gear at all, and the Galaxy Core Prime has access to all of the relevant apps but doesn't meet the requirements to connect to the S2.
Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions for getting the Milk app on my S2? I've not been able to find a WGT file for the life of me, and I'm half-tempted to root the Prime so that I can access the Galaxy Apps Store companion file, as I suspect that's the necessary widget. If there’s not a simpler solution though, I might try to go to a Samsung Kiosk or a carrier's store to see if they won't let me temporarily pair the S2 with a sufficient Samsung phone to grant me Milk access. I've got 2gb of data for this watch and it'd be nice to come close to using it.
Hindsight...
Does anyone have a Milk WGT file they can upload?

What's new and will the firmware R732XXU2CPC5 support the iPhone?
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/03/31/samsung-gear-s2-gets-another-software-update/
Brings the same features as R732XXU2CPB7, and I've just tested, it does NOT support the iPhone.
Anyway to download the firmware for wireless odin? I can't update through gear manager since downgrading to use with an iPhone? I got a s7 edge just for this and I'm stuck on "your Gear has been modified and cannot be updated". Thanks
I have not seen the first one. My Gear S2 sport is on R720XXU2BPA4

Updated to CPC5 here in Canada (west coast) on 11 Apr 16. New auto brightness and airplane mode. Maybe more. Will test as time permits.
Received CPC5 update on Gear S2 Classic (wifi) today in Virginia/USA.
I initiated the update manually, so don't know when it actually became available....
Does anyone have the ODIN Flashable Package for this R732XXU2CPC5 Update ?
Got the R732XXU2CPC5 around 2:00 am today by manually checking for update. I'm in Northern VA
I got mine last night by manually updating. I'm in Georgia.
I installed Samsung gear app on iphone and it says NO GEAR DEVICES. App says to update gear software. My version software on samsung gear s2 is: R720XXU2BOKK. Version: KNOX. I will try to update it with a samsung mobile and then I will come back to the iphone and try it.
Just to give more information, my girfriend has a Samsung gear s2 too and she has version software: R720XXU2AOJ3. Version: KNOXX. She is able to pair the iphone with her samsung gear s2 without the application, just as a bluetooth device. I was able to do it as well but I made a big mistake of pairing it with a samsung mobile and I updated the software of the samsung gear s2, then came back to my iphone and the Iphone didn't find samsung gear S2.
Still doesn't fix the "always on isn't always on" problem. (When you enable display always on, it goes completely blank after a while and needs a button press to get back).
Wow, the auto brighness is effing stupid.
Before, I had always on screen and outside, I could tolerate brightness of 3, and could see al lof my watch faces and notifications.
Now the damn thing is always at its highest and blows through 80% in less than 12 hours.
ANd I dont even check it as often anymore.
Just give me a damn off button for auto brightness, god.

I had this problem, too.
Did you set the Gear S2 already back to factory settings? Afterwards my iPhone found the Gear and started working with the app.

Yes sir! I've done it and now it's working! Thank you !
Having tried manual updates many times it (SM-R732) finally updated automatically today. I don't notice much difference on the auto-brightness, maybe because I have the brightness set pretty low (3)? Still good to have the addition of Flight Mode.
Good Morning Everybody,
So I am now rocking an Asus Zenwatch 3 and since the Android Wear 2.0 update is not coming, I am trying to get myself a new smartwatch.
I am thinking either to buy the Gear S3 or to stay on Android Wear 2.0 and going for the Huawei Watch 2 Classic or LG Watch Style.
My phone is not a Samsung and I don't intend in getting one soon, I currently have the Google Pixel XL and in a couple of days switching to the Blackberry Keyone.
Question, is this watch worthed and useful?
Does it work well with a non Samsung Device?
How's Tizen compare to Android Wear?
Thanks
The whole functionality you'll only get with a Samsung phone from 4.3/4.4. (Samsung Store/Pay, watch updates and so on often failes on different android-phones)
Some Android-phones are completely not supported (not only because of root and custom roms..), like my Mediapad X2...

https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/themes/how-to-gear-s3-unsupporteted-android-t3521532
(AndroidWear is working fine on my phone, without any limitations, also 2.0 update with my Huawei Watch 1)
I switched from using an LG to a Samsung phone with the S3.There was very little additional functionality gained. Here's a chart that compares all the features across Samsung, Android, and iOS devices.

Thank you guys
Well, I'm using it with the Blackberry Priv and I don't have any issues at all. It is connected via Bluetooth. I logs my walks, hikes and bike rides and I can view the info on the watch or in the S-health app on the Priv. I can update or install apps and watch faces from the Priv. I have been using S-pay which I still find weirdly fun to do!!!! But the Priv still runs Marshmallow. I don't know any details but there are or may be issues with Nougat on some aspects of the Gear S3 (others can let you know if S-pay works).
I'm also active on the Crackberry forum and there have been a few discussions of the Gear S3 there. There's also a Keyone thread and maybe you could ask for info.

I'm using the S3 with a Moto G4 and everything works with no restrictions. Don't feel like you need a Samsung phone to use all the features.

What does the comment help all those who do not have all the functions with his android phone?
Or what is the general benefit of this observation?
Additionally, the thread creator has no Moto G4 -
if I am not wrong
I have been using Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as the carrier with earlier a Gear S2 and now Gear S3 Frontier (and Moto 360 prior to the Gear watches), and absolutely love my S3.
The key aspects of the watch which I find very useful - The rotating dial and unique interface, excellent battery, nice in built S-Health, Samsung-Pay, etc should work with all Android phones. With Gear app and S-Health app available in Google App-store, anyone with an Android phone can install them and make use of them.
The other features I also like very much is ability to sync all messages and email on the S3 itself since I use the Samsung native messaging and email app on my Note5. This I believe will be the only things not available with other Android devices.
Overall - The message/email syncing, S-Pay from wrist, decent stock health tracking app, very intuitive and nice interface with rotating bezel, and extremely competitive battery life (I get 4 days with Always on Display off) has made me absolutely adore the S3.

I ve got this answer from watchmaker admin :
Apologies - Samsung removed the Companion App for WatchMaker from Galaxy Apps Store.
This was due to Samsung requiring a change in our business model so that we should sell watches on the Samsung platform, as well as on Google and Apple.
We are working closely with Samsung to get this resolved as soon as possible and have already submitted a new version for Samsung to review.
Once the new version is approved, it will work exactly the same as the current version and will not force any additional purchases.

Hi
I'm thinking about buying the pocophone, but first I would like to know if it works with my gear s2. There is someone who has a way to prove compatibility between the two devices.
Thanks to anyone who helps me with my problem.
yes, I use my Gear S2 and my S3 on my Pocophone F1. The 2 watch are on the phone and works. Just see last time I used the S2, I not see the Calendar event on the watch with the widget. Do not know if it is just a one time bug ? after I used the S3 and the S3 displayed my events.
confirmed, i use the pocophone f1 as well on beta version

Maybe consider getting the Mi8 too, this way you will absolutely get all of your LTE bands, plus have AMOLED.
My gear 2 works great with the Mi8 and since the mi 9 came out yesterday. MI8 Prices are being cut by a large margin.

I use the Samsung gear S3 with Pocophone, but...
I have several issues I didn't have even I still had my Samsung.
The connection to my phone is lost often, and mostly I have to manually reconnect it from my phone.
I often don't get notifications even though the connection is there.
The find my phone feature doesn't work.
But, it is alright.
The Pocophone is really excellent and a very good buy. Just don't count on a smooth operation with your Samsung gear.
You must exclude from battery optimisation all apps needed : Samsung Wearable, Gear S plugin et Accesory service. And verify at each reboot and exclude again because some or all this 3 apps do not keep the battery settings after reboot. And prevent from unload with the lock icon on running list apps.
