Correct me if I'm wrong...
Do you think now a days these android smart phones are secured?
A. If anyone stoles my phone they are smart enough to do hard reset by googling and wipe all the datas on the phone. So no track!
B. IMEI is another pain in the neck! No proper service is there yet to track over online or offline for common people!
C. Anyone can just go to my phone's settings while unlocked and give a soft touch over the option called: Factory data reset! All gone!!!
Even decade ago feature phones (When Android was no where around) also used to come with a security option where Factory reset used to be protected with a password apart from screen lock.
Why no development in this segment???
A. Do you know any device which can prevent this? I think it's good enough that your data has to be cleared.
B. I think this can be avoided by just throwing away the sim card.
C. No idea on this point but there should be a password.

Hi there I have been searching for away to unlock my samsung s5 for months now as i do not want to loose my data with a reset . I am looking for away to turn on the data connection so i can reset the lock,or a bypass ,or any to recover my photos and videos ,or away to recover them after a factory reset i think that last one could be hard.I do not have custom firm ware and the system is in its default settings that it came with any help would be greatly appreciated. Also when the new samsung is released does glitchs to do this usually appear after then if there is none yet.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Unfortunately that's the entire point to having phone security, if you don't know the password you can't do anything with the device. If there was some kind of readily available back-door type thing then the security measures world be completely pointless. You're just gonna have to bite the bullet and perform a factory reset, you'll lose your data, but that's why it's crucial to remember your password.
Good luck!
hey all i came here because i know you guys are the elite in phone knowlege. i recenty had my phone stolen. droid turbo ballistic black 64. so i jumped on my fiances phone and downloaded android device manager to secure or track it. i locked it remotely to protect my info. days later recovered the phone. the problem ive encountered is that now that i have the phone back i cannot unlock it. the password system in that app is broken. i need to figure out how to get past the screen lock so i can recover my phone. i know i can fa tory reset it and do it but thats counterproductive to what i want. i want to recover my photos and music. any advice would be mpst appreciated
I ask this question here because i don't find any room that discuss this handheld so I really appreciated any help.
I personally don't own this handheld, but my sister's. Some weeks ago she lost it and by any luck have chance to activate lost mode on Android Device Manager.
But somehow that lost Oppo Neo 7 delivered to her again by someone. When she wanted to activate it again use Android Device Manager, it can't be done. Even when already changed the password many time, it's always told it wrong password.
Once I help by set a new password and some "activating message" just to be sure that my new password had been sent to this Oppo Neo 7. The activating mesage is changed to what I've set but the password still wrong. I even tried to check the combination of caps lock but the result is negative.
I have bring it to Oppo's Official Service Centre but they can't help much. They only said it must done by Factory Reset but we don't want that because we have to extract some family photos on it's internal.
I already tried ADB with SDK and recovery mode. It connected right but I can not read internal's data. It seemed caused by the encodes.
Is there anybody can help me how to extract this data on lost mode? Or maybe activating this HH without resetting?
And if I reset it, how the percentage I can salvage with undelete application to find the deleted photo on post-Factory Reset?
Hey guys, so I work for an IT company that buys and sells ex gov, ex school etc stuff in bulk and resells to whoever, at the moment we have 9 of these things and they are all locked with a number password, we have tried to contact the people we got them from but as so often happens, they haven't been helpful in providing the pin, usually we would give up and throw em out but these things aren't cheap, so as the head tech, one of my superiors offered me one of them to keep/sell myself if I can figure out how to unlock them.
So backstory aside, the easy solution is boot into recovery and wipe, but these things (which ive personally never seen before) have a password in the recovery menu, requiring you to enter a password before it will actually wipe.
What is my best option to unlock/wipe these things? annoyingly the "master reset" codes etc that Panasonic have are not usable cus the dialer cant be accessed from the lock screen, my thought was adb but its been a while since ive messed with that and could do with some guidance on it.
I promise you these are not stolen, we just really dont want to lose a large chunk of change on these.
Thanks guys!
edit: so updates, usb debugging isnt on so ADB cant be done, nothing detects, recovery simply has wipe or reboot, wipe involving a password to be entered before itll wipe, its running android 5 so with some messing around im able to bypass the lockscreen and let the dialer show up and be used, by calling an emergency number and quickly hanging up while frantically clicking back and or home button, I can get it to (while in a semi locked state still) launch the home menu thats set up, annoyingly this is some organisations software and exiting it to the actual home screen requires a password again..this time a text password so forget basic guessing, and thats basically where im at, from here launching any of the tools or chrome etc will take you back to the lock screen, if I can somehow get chrome to launch, I could enter settings from there and wipe, but so far cant seem to without it going back to the lock screen and starting all over again.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
Hi,
I have the same problem! But this thing is brand new!!
I purchased a Panasonic toughpad Fz-x1 a couple of days ago and the first thing I did was to do an update on it which went well and the version of android on it is 4.2.2. I checked the Panasonic website to see if there was an update to 5.1.1 and there was. So I downloaded the file to my sd card and done the update, but now I am stuck with the dreaded dead android red exclamation. There is a menu of two lines, 1: Reboot system now and 2: Wipe data/ factory reset.
When you do a wipe data/ factory reset the next screen is to delete all user data and say yes to that. But now it wants a password that is numeric and I have no idea what that is as I haven't set up any security on it yet. I am hoping someone here can help me with this problem. Thanks
I am getting in touch with Panasonic and when I receive a reply from them I will pass it on here.
i need the same, my japan fz-x1 have a password in this function
