Oneplus 7t to Oneplus 8t - OnePlus 8T Real Life Review

Recently purchased OnePlus8t 256gb/12gb, coming from the op7t 128gb/8gb.
The phone dimensions are near identical, I cannot tell the difference physically .
I immediately notice the op8t's 120hz refresh rate screen is much more fluid , much more vibrant.
op8t overall much snappier, smoother and quicker than the op7t.
Feels much better in your hand aswell, do to the camera orientation being vertical, instead of circle ( on the op7t ) .
All and All , Very happy with the OnePlus 8t, and the price tag that came with it

Moving from s9plus to a oneplus/pixel device and vice versa : Discussion

I have been a big fan of oneplus since its debut .
I have had oneplus x , oneplus 2 and oneplus 3 .
Then i moved to iphone 7 and now i have a samsung s9plus.
The only thing that bugged me with oneplus was randoms bugs appearing here and there in normal day to day use .
Now moving to samsung i feel that software isnt very responsive and fast .
I see slowdowns and lags here and there .
Any one who owns a oneplus 6 or 5t as well , can u compare the s9plus to oneplus ?
I am planning to sell my s9plus for the upcoming oneplus 6 ..
What do you guys say?
Please give your opinios .
Thanks.
I had the oneplus 6 along w the s9+ (exynos)
op6 is faster ( a bit ) but the camera on the s9+ is way way better. I never had slowdowns or any hiccups on the s9+ though.
but with that aside I'd go with the oneplus. more development, more choices more everything.
I'm planning to sell my s9+ and get the 6T next month.

I get the same amount of SoT with both. But charging w/ the oneplus6 is faster and more convenient.
Screen quality on the s9+ is a bit better, but hardly any difference between 1080p and 1440p.
I really loved both. But prefer the OnePlus 6. I just stayed with the s9+ and sold the 6T when I heard 6t is coming due to the s9+'s camera. I just hope the pricing for the 6T isn't that high. Phone pricing nowadays are getting ridiculously high

As per the rumours the 6t will start at 38000 ...
I don't think that it is a budget pricing anymore .
Just recently on sale the 6 was available for 27000 after applying discounts . That was a good deal

Oneplus 7t pro???

Guys you think oneplus will release 7t pro along with regular 7t this autumn?
If yes this is ridiculous...
What you thing?

The Power of Oneplus 7 Pro be with you
Yes, it will probably be based off the phone with in screen front camera
Rumors, but looks like OnePlus keeps moving progressively forward. ?
This is good news. But looking more forward to the
8 pro though.
I think they'll give wireless charging & ip rating,Better Camera in the next release
Wish they could have made a version of the 7 Pro with a FLAT display.
I think they will give us 7t pro.
4 phones in 6 months??
The Power of Oneplus 7 Pro be with you
The 7T, 7T Pro, 7T Pro 5G rumors are getting stronger. A possibility of a Spetember end announcement looks tasty.
In comparison to OP7 Pro,
less curvy edges, less slippery back, way better front cam and better rear cams, official IP rating(by paying less to Robert. D. Junior  ) etc. are in my wishlist.

They said time after time no wireless charging.
7T to have 2k res, 90Hz RR, 6.55 inch screen, SD 855+, 3800 mAh battery as per this reliable tweet.
Interestingly it says 7T and not 7T Pro. This looks weird and exciting at the same time because personally I did not like the 7 Pro's size, weight, steep curves and the pop-up cam which will not be the case with the 7T while retaining all the good stuff if it turns out to be true.
This way users will have the choice of two different sizes with little compromises.(if at all).
If 7t will get 90 hz,7 Pro's value will decline drastically
7T & 7T Pro full specs:
(launchdate likely to be Oct. 10)
SOURCE
Edit:
OnePlus confirmed that the launchdate is September 26.(7T atleast)
This is amazing news because I think most of the new camera improvements maybe software and can be ported over to the 7 pro hopefully.
So nothing to write home about. Very minor upgrades. an 855 runs everything already with room to spare.

Once the successor gets released, the predecessor's value decreases. This has always been like this.
Only difference is - first time it was of two sizes from OnePlus, hence now two respective successors.
Also, 7T would be a great choice who didn't like the 7 Pro's form factor, weight etc.

855+ is not an upgrade to regular 855. And why would OP make their last line moot?
This is a sucky move from OnePlus tbh. The 7t pro is a useless upgrade . And the 7t will basically be the same as the 7 pro. ?

It's not about offering a new revolutionary product. It's about staying on headlines and maintain their popularity. They can't go a whole year with a drought of releases just cause 7 PRO owners wont be tempted to buy, we are not the target, but if you needed a new phone, it would be smarter to wait 1 month.

Which one to keep Xperia 1 or OP7 Pro? (similar price at purchase)

I got an Xperia 1 for £500 and a OP7 Pro 12Gb model for £550, I should receive both tomorrow and sell one of them later, just really unsure which one to sell, I know tomorrow I'll have a better perception, but at the moment, I can't make up my mind, why I should keep one over the other, they both have stock Android, Sony's has very fast security updates, almost on point with the Pixel phones, and that 4K screen should be amazing, now the OP7 Pro, has an amazing dev community, no features lost if bootloader is unlocked, like on Sony phones, all screen design (unsure how I feel about this though, not having where to hold can be annoying, had that issue with the Vivo Nex 2), 90Hz display (but my eye can't see the difference, had the Razor Phone 2, which has a 120Hz display and not that big of a difference in my eyes) and bigger battery (again, reviews say that at 90Hz it drains pretty fast). Did not mention cameras or fingerprint sensors, because both seem to be on par, in-display fingerprint are a bit meh, curious to see how good the OP7 Pro is though, because the ones I've tried, still make me miss the old school fingerprint readers on the back and the Sony side mounted fingerprint is also meh.
Considering the prices I got them for, which one would you guys keep and reasons, would really appreciate your opinions on this.
Have a great day everyone.

Regarding 4k - I came to my OP7Pro from my XZ Premium. Sony isn't bad, but it's not as good as OnePlus. I haven't used 4K even once. It was completely useless. Heck, I intentionally forced my OnePlus to stay on FHD. My battery life is beyond 6h SOT. All day battery. It's amazing. Warp charge works, it's real. It's amazing. I don't know what you're talking about with 90hz. I can see the difference. The moment I looked at a high refresh rate screen I saw the fluidity. I'd keep the OP7P, but both options are definitely great. You can't go wrong with either option.
The moment I saw a 90hz screen I decided that I will never again purchase a device with less than 90 Hz (even better with 120hz). So it would be a no brainer for me.

Thanks for the reply guys, it must be my eyes then, they had better days, I had correction surgery a couple of years ago, they must have messed up something xD
I understand that 4K is only seen in 4K photos/videos, so I agree that it is not a real plus. when I have both in front of me I'll share my experience.
The Pro is the way to go...if you like it! Cheers

I have had both for over a month, sell the Xperia 1, trust me
I had an Xperia 1 for 5 days before I returned it and got this, I can assure you this is a decision that you will not regret. I have been an Xperia fan boy for the last 6 years since the first Xperia z came out in 2012. Sony have also ruin to find by putting DRM keys on the devices and you will lose major functionality if you unlock the bootloader... With the oneplus all is good with unlocking the bootloader and you can be anything you wish on the phone. although it hurts my heart from the inside Xperia one has got nothing on the oneplus 7 pro the device did not just feel right and was hard to use for me. it appealed to me in the slightest and everything that oneplus 7 pro has overwhelms the Sony Xperia 1.
I don't find it aesthetically pleasing too,Not Sure about this one but they always lacked in Camera Department too
Guys Do Find 60 hz to be more choppy than other 60 hz display or ist it just me? The screen on my iPhone Xs Max seems more fluid & responsive than Op7 Pro when 60 hz is selected
Quick update, I received the OP7 Pro 4 hours ago, the Sony seems to be delayed with DHL, so probably just tomorrow now. OP7 Pro so far seems very nice, the case that comes with it unfortunately peels off the screen protector when it's on, I guess the screen protector that comes pre installed it is not centred, so, on the top right corner, the case is peeling the screen protector, I'm using it without a case now, it's the same size as my Note 9, so not a big issue, the Note 9 does have a better grip though, the OP7 curves more then the Note 9 and that makes it less grippy, if that makes sense. Also tested the app drawer on the Note 9 vs OP7 Pro and I can see the 90Hz now side by side, but I think I can still go back to a 60Hz display, it's not that of a big deal IMO.
I'll do some more testing tonight, maybe some night shots if I have time, between the Note 9 and the OP7 Pro let me know if you want to info in a Note 9 vs OP7 Pro.
Sure Why Not....Can You compare both on 60 hz,The Thing I mentioned above

So setting up the OP7 to 60Hz and comparing to the Note 9, both look the same, iPhones do have higher sensitivity, so it appears smother, but 60Hz on Android seems to be the same on the OP7 Pro and Note 9.

EBay, as typical Sony phones, they drop price very fast, have a look there and you'll see
Typing this on the Xperia 1 and it's so comfortable compared to the OP7 Pro, the slim design is awesome...
I would pick the oneplus 7 pro. But that's just my personal opinion. I have and s10+ and this 7 pro and my sim is in the oneplus 90% of the time, the 90hz screen really is amazing and it is very noticeable when going to a non 90hz phone

Nah the OnePlus is the way to go..
Need t get one myself.
I won't go to anything less than 90hz after using the OP7 pro. Simple as that.
Took a photo of my living room with artificial lighting, the colours are more natural on the Sony and quality is about the same on both, keep in mind this is with the stock camera, didn't have time to install GCam, but it's running the latest OOS.

What do you guys think?

OnePlus 7T or OnePlus 7 Pro which is better?

Hello everyone, I want to buy a OnePlus phone & have to choose between OnePlus 7 Pro vs OnePlus 7T which should I pick? Please help me decide.
It all comes down to your personal preference.
Do you prefer a curved display or a flat one.
You want more battery capacity or you think the new warp 30t charging tech can make up for having a smaller battery..
Do you prefer a notch or you want to wow people with a pop up selfie camera.
Do you feel the slight improvement that the 855+ has is better for you..
Other than those things. Battery capacity, display, notch/pop up.. and charging tech the phones are almost the same and yeah that macro lens..
I'm on the fence on which to buy myself..

7 pro's display is hands down one of the best display in the market right now.
If you want 256GB of storage you have to get a Pro. 7T maxes out at 128GB. Also the 7 Pro can be had with 12GB of RAM.
I would also add aesthetics...for me anyway...that back camera circle thing is just plain-ol-UGLY! The 855+ is a non-issue as I highly doubt you will ever see, or experience anything that shows one over the other. All the other arguments previously mentioned may be valid.
P.S. I have the 7 Pro and despite many who disagree with me online...I have tried both screen resolutions, as well as 90 vs 60 refresh rate....and there is just NO difference to me at all! (Let me get my flame suit zipped up here...) I am running all the latest software updates, I have had the phone for several weeks now, I have swapped the various screen settings many times with different apps....and...NO discernible difference!
I have wondered if by some chance the settings do nothing??? Maybe the screen is set to its highest available DPI and refresh rate and switching to the lower settings is not doing anything???
Or, maybe it is the other way around??? That the screen is set on the lowest settings and switching it to the higher settings does not really change anything??? YMMV
But I am telling you that the 7 Pro flies through anything and everything I throw at it. (I do not play games though) So, it is up to you! Boy it sure is getting warm in here.
Also, according to jerryrigeverything, the 7T suffers structural weakness for that ugly camera circle, the 7t he was testing cracked on the first stress test. While i am in no way a fan of the curved screen, i do appreciate a notchless QHD display.
One more thing which may, or may not be an issue for some...the notification slider button is smaller on the 7T than on the 7 Pro.
I would say for now the OnePlus 7 Pro for the win!
I have both. Right now I'm using the 7T as my daily driver. I like the flat edges but the notch is a little annoying since the apps cant use that space.
I would get the 7 pro. The curved edges and bezel less screen is amazing. 7t has an ugly back.
7 Pro also has a better display in terms of resolution.
I bought the 7 Pro about a month ago coming from a pixel 2 XL. The phone is great in every respect. The only thing that bothers me is the weight. This thing weighs a lot. ?

Why buy OnePlus 8 over 7t pro?

I’m struggling with this one, as far as I can tell the reason to go 8 rather than 7t pro is 5g and the newer chip and maybe smaller footprint, whereas on the side of the 7t pro is the larger higher res display and arguably nicer design.
I believe the main cameras are the same?
Is there anything else to consider that I have missed?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Well I came from the 7t regular and I can say that it is a much hardier phone than the 8 regular. I despise curved screens but they aren't really that much of an issue for me as I thought it would be. Display wins on the 7t for that reason.
I upgraded solely for 5g. Let me tell you, TMobile 5g is complete trash. I got 90+Mbps on the 7t on lte yet using 5g I am LUCKY to break 25mbps!
Everything else is about the same.
Stick with the 7t pro until the 8t comes out is my humble opinion here.

As @Josh McGrath stated,he pretty much nailed it.
ATM I have both,so,no "grass is greener" bias here.
The OP8 has a less exaggerated curve on the sides.
Whether that's an asset is entirely up to you.
The OnePlus 7 Pro gets a big win with the pop-up camera, maximum display & no hole punch to hide.
The OP8 gets a slight nod for performance & battery life, but, not enough to make that the sole factor,if all other things are equal to you.
The OnePlus 8 also gets the nod for feel in hand, noticeably lighter & narrower grip,IMHO a major plus vs the OnePlus 7 Pro.
The OnePlus 7 Pro still has the older swipe navigation, the back action a swipe up on the left or right bottom vs the OnePlus 8's newer gestures,a side swipe from the side being the back action.
I prefer the OnePlus 7 Pro on this point, but,I added the app Fluid Navigation Gestures to add the side swipe action (no root/ADB required),so,best of both worlds.
As for cameras, I can't say, I'm a point & shoot guy,not very demanding on cameras in general. If cameras are of the utmost importance, either check the ROMs/mods section for camera tweaks,or, possibly consider a Pixel device.
So,if push comes to shove,I'd say it comes down to how much you need 5G.
Toss that aside,& by the narrowest of margins, I'd pick the OnePlus 7 Pro.
If you don't mind the hole punch (hiding it is an option) & need 5G , grab the OnePlus 8.
Honestly, you can't lose with either,5G being the biggest major difference.
If you're on T-Mobile, perhaps split the difference & get the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition.

Does the 7t Pro really still not have the android 10 gestures? Having worked around this issue on a Samsung before it is an annoyance for sure.
I would buy another 8 Pro but I am convinced that the screen has flaws that software can only try and cover up so am not going there again. It is a shame that they did not put a better main camera in the 8 as I think there are enough other differentiators to justify the pro. Google and Apple are now offering very good main cameras in their budget offerings.
I have a Pixel 4 XL, the phone itself is really quite unremarkable, dull even but that camera when used as a P&S just nails it most of the time, only the iPhone 11 pro comes close IMO. I'd settle for not quite as good as that providing that results are better than the blurry mess Samsungs put out if the subject even thinks about moving slightly.

I take that back on the navigation gestures, there is a choice between the Android 10 gestures & the ones that shipped with the phone on Android 9 (along with the nav buttons,of course).
The OnePlus 8 does not have the choice of the old style navigation gestures, just the Android 10 style & the navigation buttons.
Sorry'bout that, I swear I didn't see that a day ago, perhaps it was included on the update (for the T-Mobile version) that just went live yesterday.
Perhaps others will chime in on the cameras, I'm definitely sitting that one out, above my pay grade & as far as picture quality, I'm not too picky ,as long as it's quick to focus, I'm good.
@Arsenal
I also owned the OP7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition for several months, as recently as late April/early May & it did have the Android 10 gestures, so, nothing to worry about there.
One area worth mentioning again is the feel in hand:
The OnePlus 8 is noticeably lighter, with the OP7 Pro feeling a bit top heavy.
The OnePlus 8 is also narrower in grip. While the difference doesn't look like much on paper, the phones couldn't feel more different, big advantage to the OnePlus 8.
Just want to iterate, if 5G is not all that important, the nod,by the narrowest of all margins, goes to the OP7 Pro/7T Pro vs the OnePlus 8.
I wonder how good GCAM is on the 7t pro or 8?
It has been a long while since I have used GCAM on a SD enabled device but the last time I did the results were impressive

GCAM is always better than the default camera.
John Lewis had a cracking deal on the 7 pro so I got one.
Having recently had the 8 pro what jumps out is maybe this is the first year that last years phone does not look and feel inferior or dated vs the this years. Not just Oneplus too, arguably the S10 and P30 pro are no real step down either.

The reason is that despite the price drop the OnePlus 7T and 7T PRO it still is not worth it when compared to the 8.
If you have the OnePlus 7 there is no reason to be in the market to buy a new smartphone. If you buy smartphones every year then you are part of the tech enthusiast minority and my reply is not for you
The reason why the OnePlus 8 makes more sense for most people is:
- OS Updates. The OnePlus 7 is older and will reach its end of support sooner than the OnePlus 8.
- Battery life. No other factor limits your device lifespan than battery life. The OnePlus 8 has a larger battery resulting in higher SOT according to most tests.
- Performance. Both the OnePlus 8 and 8 PRO surpass last year models benchmarks.
- Price. At $700 the OnePlus 8 is not cheap. But if you are on the market to buy a new phone, then you do your homework and search for the best deals. The OnePlus 8 can be found for $550-$600 if you search for deals.
If you still think the OnePlus 8 at $600 is too expensive, then why consider the $500 OnePlus 7? That´s expensive as well. If for instance price is more important for you then OxygenOS and fast OS upgrades, then go for the POCO F2 PRO. It´s pretty close to the OnePlus 8 specs at a OnePlus 7 price.
If you don't care about future proof performance, battery life and other aspects and just want a cheaper device that gets the latest updates, go for the Pixel.
Now if you want a well balanced device, that will get the latest updates just a bit latter then Google releases them to the Pixel but also offers better specs in terms of performance, battery and screen, than the OnePlus 8 is a good choice.
