Question Navifly 7862 Stuck in a Loop - FYT Android Head Units

My nav app (Google Maps) is set to start on boot. After the unit boots, it loads and runs the nav app; normally at this point I can leave the nav app and use another app; but now it repeatedly switches to the nav app when I try to visit any other app and every second I see the top bar changing as if to be switching to the nav app. If I try to go to settings, I will see the settings screen for one second and then find myself back in the nav app. I cannot get the nav app out of the start up area in one second, so I need to boot the unit without it running the startup apps.
Is some nav app button shorted somewhere? I have nothing connected to the CAN bus as my car has no steering wheel controls.
How can I boot into a "safe mode"-like environment so that I may take the nav app out of the startup app area?
Do I need to enter "recovery mode"? How do I do that on the 7862?
The reset "button" has not helped.
Please advise.

Sorry friend, I could find no such posts after searching for, "7862 recovery," and, "7862 boot loop." Still waiting on Navifly's response.

Update:
Inching through the menus, using repeated quick-finger attempts and heavy use of the go-back button:
In General: Auto-start Navigation: OFF. (This had no effect.)
In General: Launcher App Setting: Not Set. (This had no effect.)
In User: Application Setting: Navi: OFF. Now the nav app is no longer launching every second; however, every second, the bar that is normally at the top of the screen, that shows the time and has a home icon in the top-left corner and the go-back icon in the top-right corner, is shifting up and hiding every second. This is essentially causing the screen to "bounce."
I can now however, enter the Factory area.
Any ideas?

Okay, I did an Erase-all factory reset and all appears to be well again.
A weird problem and lesson in failing to backup my unit.

Thanks, if they share the solution with you please post here as well!

They responded with not understanding my request, which was very simply worded; I'm afraid the language barrier is too great to get the recovery mode by hardware instructions at this time.
May have to resort to running a terminal app that will transmit a recovery mode command. The developer options has a debug by USB option, so there may be a way to connect a laptop and enter recovery mode from there if you thought to activate this option and leave it turned-on (which mine now is).
See:

Use of a keyboard and installed terminal program may also be possible; see:

Repeatedly pressing a key (that you must discover by trial and error) while simultaneously holding alt+print screen, on a USB keyboard, may cause the unit to enter recovery mode. The "i" key has been the third key to repeatedly press on other units; see:

This does not work on the sc9853i and uis7862 units built by FYT. They are all Release builds, which means that adb over wifi is disabled as per Android design.
Next to that: there is no way of booting in recovery mode on FYT units already since 2015. The recovery mode is very simple a autostarting binary that (1) tries find new firmware on a an attached USB-stick/SD-card or (2) tries to boot in safe mode. And it is signed with the rest of the firmware, meaning that replacing it with a custom recovery will break auto-updating and break auto-recovery flashing an original firmware.
No possibility to do anything "developer-like" in recovery mode.
Take a look at my sc9853i Q&A thread (in my signature). The principal working and explanations are all the same. binaries and files have updated file names on the uis7862 and that has been mentioned in several other threads.

Thank you for your response.
But I still have a problem, I do not have an update to place on an USB stick, not even the original one.
I asked for the reseller, but he didn’t respond me about the last question I asked.
Do you know any update that fit my machine? Would you send me, please?
I am sending pictures with the info.
Thanks in advance

Read post #2 of this thread (or better: read the first 4 posts)
Then go to the Mekede site as mentioned in that post 2. Register yourself, download the firmware and flash it.

[Q] How to make Explorer work on Win CE 6 RNS?

Hi,
i use a RNS named Blaupunkt New York 800. It´s running Windows CE 6. When i access the windows through a startscript i can´t run the Explorer.exe.
Also when i try to run any software where i have to set a directory there only shows up a white frame with nothing in it. No folders or files are shown.
Is there a chance to make the existing explorer.exe work?

If you tell me how you are able to "access windows through a script" I may be able to help you as I have a different brand that runs the same code as your system (your system is a re-branded advuv630). If you tell me how you are accessing it I can get it to work for you. I have a decrypted firmware for that system and its almost exactly the same as the advuv630. So I can probly use the same method you are using to access and get something working for you.
--thesh0ck
Edit: Its General and DVD-Rating on the advuv630, not general and bluetooth as I stated below. So try that first.
Go to settings menu, hit the following butons alterativly 6x (twelve total presses) General -> Blueooth -> General -> Bluetooth etc...
This will take to to the system menu.... where you can disable the requirement to have the parking brake on to watch movies and other things, I wouldnt change much other than that here.
This is what you want though:
You can also press time and volume in the same sequence and you will get right into the wince start menu screen with no hacks required. Its built into the unit.
If time and volume dont work, try all of the combinations (it will only take a few mins to try them all), one will work. Select two of the top row settings buttons and go back and forth hitting them 6x each till you find it.
Hope this helps. I just foind these two hidden options the other day....
Hi there, ho to disable the requirement to have the parking brake on to watch movies??? Is it on "brake override" menu?

No menu button?

Is there any way to force a menu button entry? Many older programs such as Scumm Vm do not have on-screen menus of any kind of rely on the button.
How can I play Full Throttle now!?!?!?! Good god the calamity.

'Y' should be acting as a menu button. Unless ScummVM maps it to something else, it should bring the menu up.

AFAIK ScummVM is a derelict project - fully functioning and fully featured but no longer updated. It will likely never have anyone tailoring Shield support for it. So I have no way whatsoever to access the menu once in game, and hence no way to save or load, making most games essentially fruitless to play given their nature as long graphic adventures. I think the exclusion of a menu button is a bummer and a deficiency. They could of coded so a double press of the Nvidia button registers as a menu press, or something akin to that; knowing how cool Nvidia is, I imagine they'll either add this in, or their openness about the Shield will allow a custom rom to force it in... Still, it's a bummer right now that ScummVM is essentially "broken" on the Shield. 15+ years of superb graphic adventures.. Nuts.
I know the menu button is no longer a requirement on Android devices, but I for one am very sorry to see it go, even outside of implications for old Android applications that do not get freqeuent updates such as ScummVM.
Also the lack of a menu button means I can't bring up the keyboard at will in apps such as Dosbox! That's a huge problem! Being able to bring up the keyboard whenever you want was useful in many, many applications, I don't know why they would ever eliminate that.
I've yet to try SCUMM on the shield but there isn't a way to bring it up by swiping the screen?
On Dosbox, the keyboard can be brought up by swiping down from the top of the screen. Maybe it can be done somehow with ScUMM.

Is there an App like Button savior which has a menu button?? I use that app on my nook tablet which only has one button but I don't recall there being a menu button
If you're rooted you can use tincore keymapper and make whatever button you want into the menu button. Just run it when you run the emulator.
"Home 2 shortcut" could also work. Like someone above said it could assign menu to double tap of the home button. I've not tried it on the shield though. Though I'm not sure it can be used like this...It might only work to launch apps.

I know this is an old post, but it came up on google when I was trying to resolve this problem myself. I decided to sign up and post the solution I found incase someone else searches the web trying to fix this problem.
I'm using the Nvidia Shield, but i believe this Build of ScummVM resolves problems for a lot of Android Devices:
google: ScummVm svn55436 1-1-0-7 (I Can't post links as a new user)
This is a stand-alone version of ScummVm, it offers an onscreen keyboard, as well as the ability to map buttons--resolving the issue of accessing a menu to save/load your game progress
Here is what I did using Nvidia Shield:
1. unistalled any Scumm apps I had
2. Using the chrome browser I went to: H TTP anddev.at.ua/load/scummvm_svn55436/1-1-0-7 (OR) google: ScummVM svn55436 1-1-0-7 (Again, I Can't post links as a new user)
the download link is at the top of the post
3. I went to settings>security> Check "Unknown Sources" UnCheck "Verify apps"
(This prevents Android from blocking installation switch these settings back after step 4.)
4. I then went to apps>downloads> and clicked "7_scummvm-sdl-1.7.apk" to install it
5. once installed I opened the program, I spent sometime configuring things in a trial by error fashion
Here's my configuration settings to my best recollection:
1. Video Settings> Check--Keep 4:3 screen aspect ratio
2. Mouse Emulation> Calibrate Touchscreen
3.Remap Physical Keys> (I pressed the "left shoulder" button on my gamepad)> Select Action> (scroll down) Show all Keycodes> then select "F5" <<<<This Lets you access the menu so you can SAVE/LOAD!!!!!
Were you able to use the analog stick to control the cursor? Mine acts very erratic. I followed your instructions and scumm works fine but I just that issue.

I've been able to get by just fine using the touchscreen. The joystick is a little funky on me too, any movement tends to send the cursor drifting offscreen.
The guy who did this build, I believe, designed it for android devices in general and not specifically for the Shield, so if you want the analog joystick working you might be s-o-l.
I have to say though, the touchscreen is working pretty good for me--I'd give it shot and try to get used to it.

Is it possible to change the way the wheel controls work on MTCD (GS PX5 Oreo)?

Can anyone advise on how I could ho about changing the list of apps that gets started by the Mode function on my Xtrons unit (MTCD GS PX5 oreo)?
I know someone has done something similar with a Joying unit, but as far as I can see, they replaced the "Sofia-1-C9-Server... apk) with an alternative version.
I've pulled all the system apps to my PC via ADB (root) via WiFi, and I can see apps like MTCControlSettings.apk and MTCContolInfo.apk but there are no apks with "server" in their name
So I'm not sure where to start looking for the APK which handles the steering wheel control "Mode" handling.
Does anyone know how this is handled ?
are you able to resolve it? im having the same problem. btw my unit is a MTCE_CSN thanks

I've not had time to investigate this.
For the moment, I've just set my Mode button to be the Home button, as thats better the cycling through a load of useless "modes" like the AV input and their useless audio and video players.
I did try to work out how the radio communicated with the system apps, but I'm having a lot of difficulty de-odex'ing (decompiling) even the radio app. Because the apps are Oreo versions, and most of the decompilers don't fully support Oreo odex (compiled application program) files
I did post a question to the general Dev part of XDA about de-odex'ing Oreo files but didnt get any responses
I would be interested in this if you figure it it out as I'd like to get dab in the list of apps it cycles through.

That would be enough for me, but with onboard apps or settings i haven't found a way to change it. I can use my Wheel control for changing volume and skipping music in any music app I am using, but the mode button always switches throug radio, ac input, mediaplayer and dvd.
The app for steering wheel control which was preinstalled on my head unit, doesn't react to any button and the firmware settings only to the hardware buttons of my head unit.
So, how did you do it?

In the Settings, ( think its in the Car) section, is the setting (app) which allows you to associate specific steering wheel buttons with specific actions.
I thought all generic units had this app, because the steering wheel button for each car operate differently.
My Subaru only has one wire from the steering wheel, and has 6 buttons. Each button has a different electrical resistance, and you have to press each button, and then associate a Short Press and a Long Press, on that button, to a specific action.
The controls like Volume + and - and Track + and - and Mute are pretty standard.
The only other button I have is the Mode button, and I assigned that to the "Mode" action in the settings. However the Mode operation, cycles though a predefined list.
So I simply reassigned the Mode button to the Home action.
I did try a few other things, like seeing if I could press 2 buttons at the same time e.g Mode and Track +, but it either treated this as a press on the Mode button or a press on the Track + button. So that didn't work.
If I get time, I'll have another go at decompiling the system apps, but last time I tried to do that, I could not see anything that looked like the list of apps.
If I had programmed it, I'd probably put the app names into a string resource, but goodness knows what the programmed did who wrote the system apps in these units.

Thanks for the quick reply. I already tried the factory settings but my steering wheel buttons won't work there. I only can set action to the buttons on my radio. Sadly I have to wait for any other solution. But thanks again for sharing your experience :good:
What brand and model of HU do you have?
Hey,
Opel/Vaux/Chevy cars have canbus hard mapped buttons.
Mine can't be configured through the in-built apps or factory settings either.
One would have to examine the canbus.apk / MTCManager to maybe update the xposed for MTCDTools.
MTCD Tools can see the button codes (3 digits), but can't map any other function or even intercept.

I have a Xtrons PB78QSFP-B which is designed for a Ford Focus and came with a standard canbus adapter for ford. But I have the old model of the HU which has only 2GB Ram not 4.
My guess is, that Ford has hard mapped buttons too, like Xorit said it about Opel/Vaux etc
update guys! mtcdtools will do the trick! though the old mapping will flicker but still the newly assigned actions will prevail.
i can live with this already. maybe ill just find the solution to delete the factory set MODE actions

Software Development Modded syu.ms.apk

Hi all.
This syu.ms.apk mod main function is to extend control of steering wheel controls plus some extra.
It is two part mod :
- factory com.syu.ms.apk must be replaced with this modded syu.ms.apk - easiest way is to use lsec mathod . If you don't know how see post #15
- Mod Config App (install like every apk ) - the configuration tool for this mod.
- Accessibility Service . This is optional. It will be required only for touch actions and split screen.
Here you have last version of my mod.Based on 17.05.23 version of syu.ms.apk
What is working :
- managing steering wheel buttons (CAN and Analog) and Head unit buttons (Need to enable this in misc page)
- assigning an APK
-assigning User Sources
-assigning Split Screen Apps
-assigning a Touch Action
-assigning Key Event : send system wide selected key code.
- assigning two functions action : "PREV / Call" and "NEXT / Hang"
- switchable No Kill
- external assets
- block some Write_to_Mcu
Config App has in built help and a language selector.
Also i attached strings.xml packaged as strings.zip .
NOTE: if the accessibility service gets killed add : "mod.accessibility.service = -15" to the skipkillapp.prop
Hi @seb21 nice idea to open a new thread as it is a complete project
can you please tell me what did you improve in com.syu.ms related to your previous version ? (SORRY IS IN THE CHANGELOG LOLOLOL)

Thank you so much for the tag, and also for the modified apk. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow.
As for your question:
Does that kind of dashboard panel support the displaying of the navigation data? Even if it looks like it should, there could be different hardware and software revisions of the display with different functionalities.
When I upgraded my display first time in my Peugeot 308, I made a mistake of not checking the actual software number on the back of the new unit. While some of the functionality was present, I wasn't able to connect the radio bluetooth (yes, the radio, which is a separate unit) because of the old software on the display.

Yes,it does. I have Leon 3 and with the original multimedia station i had the possibility to display navigational data on the dashboard. As i switched to android unit first i had simplesoft canbox and i was able to send media info but not navi nor compass. On their web site (only chinese) there is info that my canbox can send navi data to the dashboard. But there are not one piece of documentation. Now i have raise and from start the compass started working but still no navi.

killAppWhenSleep() -> KillAllAppButSome() -> killApp(String)
Class aj n() -> o() -> h(String)
I call in n() my method that calls (or not) o()
I'm using h(String) to kill aps in the user sources (kill switch)
I see the difference on my unit. When i switch on No Kill then after evrey sleep my unit is performing boot, probably because i have low end unit UIS 8581 with only 2 gigs of RAM.

I don't consider something this useful as cluttering of "my" thread, but it is indeed better to separate it so that your app gets the attention it deserves.

I have the idea that "User Apk" is not yet a translatable string (but I suppose everyone can translate that)
And the original English <string name="Out_Of_Range">Argument of out integer range !!!</string>

should be "Argument out of integer range", but personally I would have used "Argument outside integer range"

Thanks. File updated.
And i also added whole buttons names list to strings file.
Thanks for pointing me this mistake.
Does anyone know how one would install this? And other note would this allow me to change the default action from pressing the volume button on the car. right now it turns off the screen. but leaves the sound on. If i press the power button on the radio itself on the side it turns the screen off AND mutes it. Thats what I want the volume button to do. Just like it used to do with the OEM radio.

I have packed everything into this ZIP file. All you need to do is to unpack it directly onto a FAT32 formatted USB drive, plug the drive into your headunit, and wait for it to install.
The installer will make a copy of the original file into the "backup" folder.
In case something goes wrong, and you want to restore the original file, all you need to do is to copy the files 7862lsec.sh and 8581lsec.sh from lsec_updatesh\restore_script to lsec_updatesh to replace the already existing ones.
Once done, just unplug and plug back in the USB storage and wait for it to complete.
Spoiler: Used commands
If you want to write the code for yourself, use the commands below.
Save it as 7862lsec.sh and also as 8581lsec.sh
Copy modified to system
Code:
#make backup to "backup" folder on USB storage
cp -rf /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk /storage/sdcard1/backup/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk
#copy modded file from USB storage to headunit
cp -rf /storage/sdcard1/190000000_com.syu.ms_modded.apk /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk
#set ownership and permissions
chown -R 0.0 /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk
chmod 0755 /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms
chmod 0644 /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk
Restore original
Code:
#restore backup from "backup" folder
cp -rf /storage/sdcard1/backup/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk
#set ownership and permissions
chown -R 0.0 /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk
chmod 0755 /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms
chmod 0644 /oem/app/190000000_com.syu.ms/190000000_com.syu.ms.apk

You can't change the functions of Vol Up and Vol Down buttons, all others buttons you can change.

its the volume up volume down knob but if you press it . oem radio would turn off the oem radio. With this head unit it leaves the volume on and turns off the screen. Would like it to mute and turn off the screen the android unit power button on the top left if i touch that it turns off the screen and mutes.

When you install the app and also the modified app, you will be able to see what action is assigned to the volume button press. It's only the volume up and volume down actions which are locked, the rest should be configurable.
Do you have a CANBUS decoder, or you had to connect the Key1 Key2 wires?
It's easy to install using the method in my previous post, and also gives you a backup in case something goes wrong.

Pressing the volume knob sends signal Black Screen (or something like that), and yes you can assign to it function Power

I have a canbus decoder . Silly Dodge Journey. Without a decoder I was stuck with a OEM radio.

[Help] Assign button to app on MTCE PX5

Hello everyone.
I could not find a MTCE section and was unsure where to post, so I am posting this to the MTCD/MTCB/Android Head-Units threads. Sorry mods, please close or merge as you see fit.
I have a PX5 running Android 10. MCU version is MTCE_HXD_V3.62e_1 and would like to assign a phisical button (preferably a steering wheel button) to open TorquePro.
I found the remap function on factory options, but there are two problems with this:
First, only the volume buttons on my steering wheel show up on the buttons list, and not the "mode" button I wanted to use for this. Maybe this has something to do with CAN-Bus configurations? Or should I reset and map the buttons manually in order for them to show up? I think they all work. This "mode" button I don't use currently cycles between radio, media player and DVD and the skip track buttons also function as supposed, although being absent from the list.
Second, even if I forget about the steering wheel and try to map it to one of the buttons on the unit itself (like the DVD button I don't use) I can only map preset functions, like navigation, DVD, mute, etc. and not individual apps.
So I need either a third-party app that allows me to map Torque to a button, or a way to add torque to the mapable funcions on the factory options.
Any thougts on how to do this?
BTW, I tried MTCDtools but it doesn't seem to work. All I get from it is a "app keeps crashing" error message.
Thank you all!
Yes mtcE is an mtcD type. So you're in the right place.
All right, one step in the right direction. Yet MTCDtools didn't work. I installed the APK and it doesn't even open, all I get is a crashed app error message everytime I try starting it...
Any ideas what is going wrong here?
Have you tried the modified version 1.10, from AirOne70? #493
Not yet, just the one from f1x's GitHub. Will try it today. Thank you.

I have tried it, and it worked, so thank you!
Although it was just a partial success. I have a "source" button on my steering wheem which is used to cycle through radio/DVD/media player/etc. and managed to make it open Torque, like I wanted. The problem is that it also mantains the original function, so it launches Torque AND changes the media source on the same time.
I guess I need to "disconnect" the original functio. Any ideas on how to do this?
Thank you!

Unfortunately, I can't help you with that, try reading the thread, maybe someone has already solved it.
