You probably corrupted Android's /EFS partition where IMEI and all the networking stuff is stored.

@dfk332 Just for your information - Edit or change of IMEI is illegal in quite a few of countries. For this reason, XDA doesn't allow and accept discussions about or support for such an edit or change.
However, we accept - and I therefore didn't close your thread - support to retrieve your ORIGINAL IMEI. Please ensure that your thread doesn't convert into one about change or edit of IMEI! Please use the report button to alert us about any post going in that direction. Thanks for your cooperation!

If you didn't make a backup before tampering Android's most important settings then you've lost, IMO.

Has anyone managed to root Nokia 5.3?
Comrade, I'm also very interested in this. Moreover, Factory unlocking of the bootloader is available in the developer panel. The question is only in normal custom recovery.

I'd love you try it, but am scared of bricking my device.
Perhaps anyone knows of a brut force method for unlocking the bootloader?

I think this is the wrong thread to ask in, and you should make a new one.

@Arealhooman I think this is a very bad advice as you suggest to @pfg to create a duplicate, something that would be in violation of rule no. 5 of the XDA Forum Rules.
@pfg Please advise if you like your post to be moved into a different thread or if you want to become your post its own thread.

While we appreciate your dilemma, since changing IMEI numbers is prohibited in many countries, we do not allow discussion of this nature on XDA as per XDA Rule #9:

How did you break your IMEI? What's the problem? Did you flash something, and now the IMEI is gone?
I buy used but operator now block imei

Hello and good afternoon, @NKALE79 Thanks for the explanation. Then I correctly understand that you do not intend to repair or restore the original IMEI but want to change or edit it.
Edit or change of IMEI is illegal in quite a few of countries. For this reason, I've closed your thread! XDA doesn't allow and doesn't accept discussions about or support for such an edit or change.
