Please Help
I was in miui ROM then I tried flashing Metallium ROM, after I flashed it, it booted up but, it wasn't restoring my previous apps, so I skip that part, but then when I got to the home screen I wasn't able to access my stuffs in my phone memory.
So I thought maybe I need to change the data to f2fs, so I went to the recovery and did and flashed the Metallic ROM again, but this time it didn't boot at all, there was a bootloop and I could get past the start up screen.
I tried my older ROMs the one that I had, but it's all giving me the same response now, I have switch before but I never have had this problem. Please help, how do I flash other lollipop ROM again.
Maybe changing to f2fs and doing a factory reset. If that doesn't help, flash stock ROM via fastboot.

Yeah that might work but I'm kinda looking for a solution where I don't have to flash the stock again because I lost all my moto g stuffs some months back.
And another thing is that when I flash MIUI its working fine again and I'm able to access all the file in my phone storage also. Any suggestions?
Mmmm if you are using TWRP you could connect the phone to the PC and make a backup while you are in recover mode. Then format again data partition to f2fs and make a factory reset including internal storage and finally flash your ROM and restore your files.
But if that is not working then the only option is flashing Stock ROM
If MIUI is still booting it means that your data partition is still ext4
First I have an admission - I'm 82 so my memory is not as good as it was. I have been using smartphones for some years now including flashing recoveries and operating systems. This time, however, I have got myself into a real mess.
I have a OnePlus 6 and just recently there was an OxygenOS update from OnePlus which I installed in the normal OTA way. It was only a little later that I realised that I'd updated from Oreo (8.1) to Pie (9) and there was not a version of Xposed for Pie. I want Xposed so I decided that I wanted to downgrade to Oreo. It didn't occur to me that it would be any more difficult than re-flashing the previous version of OxygenOS. I now realise it isn't that easy or, at least, it doesn't appear to be.
Having flashed Oreo the phone wouldn't boot. It got as far as the boot animation and stayed there. I thought the best thing then would be to try and get back to Pie so I reflashed that. At least the phone now booted but I soon realised that some things weren't right. For example if I turn on wifi it turns off again after about two seconds so I can't use wifi at all.
I'm not sure what to do now. I do have a TWRP backup for both Pie and the previous Oreo. Would it be possible to restore one of those (preferable Oreo)? I'm a bit nervous about trying that as I'm not sure how much wiping/restore I'd need to do. There is the Vendor partition (I've not seen that before) and I would be very nervous about wiping and restoring the boot partition which now, I believe, contains the recovery.
I hoping that some kind person will offer some advice to put me on the road to recovery (No pun intended).
First of all, I'm impressed that you have done as much as you have (or even wanted to for that matter) at 82. Most older people I know (I'm 42 btw)barely know how to use there phones in the os, much less know what recovery is, lol.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've read that with you go backwards to Oreo from pie, you need to do a full wipe including storage. Did you do that?

grab this file. http://oxygenos.oneplus.net.s3.amazonaws.com/OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_007_all_1805131952_O_MR1.zip flash that to be back on Oreo 5.1.5. this is the special roll back firmware.
also, this will wipe all data as well as internal storage. just putting that out there so you know before doing it.

No, it was something I was trying to avoid. I was working on the assumption that as going from Oreo to Pie didn't involve any loss of data/internal storage then going from Pie to Oreo wouldn't either.

As I said above I was trying to avoid wiping data/internal storage but if that is the only way then I'll have to do it. I do have a backup of my internal storage so I can replace that easily enough. Would my Oreo backup be of any use after the wipe to restore my original data setup? That version of OxygenOS was 5.1.11 so could I get back to that?
I thank you both for your very timely help.
P.S. Can you see anything wrong with this plan?
1. Flash the roll back firmware.
2. Install TWRP using Fastboot
3. Flash, using TWRP, OxygenOS v5.1.11 over the roll back firmware
4. Restore 'data' from my previous TWRP backup.
5. Restore internal storage from backup.

I would think that should get you back to where you were. I have not personally been through these specific steps, but seems logical. It's def worth a try.

going from oreo to pie, no data loss.
going from pie to oreo, data loss.
that is how it is done. after coming back to 5.1.5 then you can go to 5.1.11

I think that's kind of understood at this point. However, I see no problem with restoring a Oreo backup once he's back on Oreo.

Almost. You are missing one thing.
1. Flash the roll back firmware
2. Install TWRP using fastboot
3. Flash, using TWRP, OxygenOS 5.1.11
4. Before rebooting, FLASH TWRP IN TWRP (This is important, as flashing 5.1.11 will overwrite recovery)
5. Use your TWRP backup
6. Do what you need for files you want on internal storage.
Don't forget to flash TWRP after you update to 5.1.11.
Not having much luck. I flashed the roll back firmware, and twrp, then rebooted but I got the boot animation again and it wouldn't go any further. I re-downloaded the firmware again, in case there was any corruption, and re-flashed it without flashing twrp but got as far as the boot animation again but no further.
Whilst in TWRP I used the file manager to look at internal storage and nothing had been wiped from that.
I'm not sure what to do now so any suggestions would be very welcome.

Fastboot working correctly - try flashing the fastboot Rom. Hopefully that will put you back to square one where you start over. Complete wipe though!

Use the fastboot ROM recovery. It works (I've used it twice) no data wipe.

That does sound rather hairy especially as I don't know which one I'd need to use. It does mention that it should not be used to upgrade or downgrade and I'm not sure that I, or my phone, knows which version is currently installed.
ADDENDUM:
I decided to try one more thing of my own. I wiped data and re-flashed the Pie version of OxygenOS then rebooted.
 It booted and seemed to be working properly i.e. I could use wifi and the time doesn't keep being lost.
I have now installed Blu Spark TWRP and restored my 'data' backup and I am now back to where I was before all this started. It isn't really where I want to be because I have no Xposed but it is significantly better than a non-booting phone. I'll just have to wait for a new version of Xposed (if such ever appears).
I really don't know why those other suggestions didn't work.
Very many thanks to all those who offered support; it certainly does give a morale boost.

Your welcome good luck
I made a really dumb mistake: I flashed the stable MIUI 12 Xiaomi.eu ROM onto my Mi 10 Pro that was on a weekly build. Since the stable was a downgrade, I was supposed to format the data partition first, which I didn't do.
My phone is now in a bootloop. Every time it boots, it boots into TWRP.
I tried to re-flash the weekly build I was on, but still no luck.
I would like to try to go back to the weekly build with all my data. I did make a backup by just dragging all the files in the internal storage to a backup drive, but it will be a pain to set up all my apps again, etc.
Again, made a super dumb mistake and I don't want to have to wipe all my data, but want to get my phone functional again. What should I do?

Just format data again and flash the rom in twrp.
Hi
I installed ArrowOS and when I try to go back to TWRP, there isnĀ“t any password even tho I have one on my device.
The thing is that when I enter it shows that there isn't any storage in the phone (0mb - imposible) so I can't wipe all data nor install other ROMS because it isn't reading the internal storage.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? It doesn't matter if I have to factory reset or delete all data, or install another ROM, but knowing that it is not a cable problem, I would like to know if I should use other TWRP version (and how to do it) because I can't even seem to do that.
The tutorial I installed the ROM was this, but instead of ArrowOS11, the 12 in my POCO X3 PRO:
Most likely using incorrect / old TWRP. Use https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomipocox3pro.html
Edit: Android 12 ROM's cannot be decrypted yet.
So should I just wait? Thanks for the fast reply!
No recovery can decrypt android 12 data yet.
You can still format the said data though and if twrp doesn't allow you to do so, try using orangefox instead.
You also can install or update rom and other stuffs (that doesn't access data) via sideload.
If you want to install magisk then you need to do the boot.img and related thingy.
Is there a recovery to decrypt android 12 data yet? I've been trying decrypting since 2 months ago and didn't find any answer.
Did you try Orangefox?

Wouldn't make a difference, it's a limitation faced by all custom recoveries and OrangeFox is based on TWRP.
@Toflamo You can try flashing a ROM from the SD Card or ADB sideload, but the SD card flash would less of a hassle. None of the recoveries as of now support decryption, might take a while to overcome that limitation.
Ngl I don't know how to ADB sideload and don't have any SDs rn to flashing it, so it seems I would have to wait until some recoveries can do it. From now on I'm staying with ArrowOS12 on my PocoX3Pro, even tho battery performance isn't as good as I expected.
Thanks so much everyone, you've been very helpful!
I will come back in some months to check if there is any tool to overcome the decryption problem of Android 12.
I flashed TWRP recovery on my Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). I wiped internal storage, and it worked fine; the storage was decrypted. Later on, I flashed Magisk 21.4 (I can't flash newer versions, or else the phone bootloops) and rebooted into system. Everything went perfectly while setting up the phone. But when I proceeded to go into recovery mode again, the storage was encrypted (0 MB). Which meant I would need to wipe my phone again. I tried a lot of stuff already, such as:
flashing DFE; now It's deprecated, so that didn't do anything
rebooting to recovery after wiping the storage
changing my custom recovery (I chose OrangeFox Custom Recovery, but it also didn't work)
Too bad there are NO official custom roms designed specifically for this model. None. Not even recoveries. Only GSI images. So I'm using an unofficial TWRP version 3.2.3-1.
TL;DR: Storage is still encrypted after wiping it on the next reboot.
Is it somehow possible to permanently decrypt the storage or is my phone a lost cause?
I followed this guide and haven't encountered any problems so far. I highly recommend to follow all steps (Step 1 - 27) to avoid any issues. I think the solution you need is to Format Data and then flashing Magisk + DFE, this got rid of Enforced Encryption for me. Hope this helps, have a nice day.
