Question Extract Apk's from GW4 - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Does anyone with the new GW4 know how to extract the apks? Im really curious to see what apps will work on other Wear watches.YT Music, Samsung Music, Samsung Messages,Camera, Gallery, Samsung Pay, Buds app, Watch faces... just to name a few. I'm sure some are locked to Samsung's system, or needs a higher API but wouldn't hurt to try. I'm using a Fossil Gen 5 connected to my Galaxy S20 ultra. Thank you to whoever can do it.

No idea yet...
I know only there are other ways...
But not finished yet for this .rap...

And here I need some time to find way to extract something...

Since it's WearOS, it will be like Android With ADB commands, you will first connect to the watch over the network:
adb connect <IP : PORT>
then enter adb shell
adb shell
then type
pm list packages
Find the package of interest then type
pm path <package-name>
this returns the path of the apk package location, exit shell
exit
now pull it typing:
adb pull <path-to-apk-package> <package-name>.apk
you have pulled the apk into the adb folder...
ADB is done over Wi-Fi, the watch should be on the same network of the PC/Laptop,
once you are done from ADB, TURN OFF ADB ON WATCH otherwise it will drain the battery...

According to your SHM files... looks to me APK Phone and APK Watch have same App Name...

Was able to pull the YT Music app from the Wear emulator but get this code.
"Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_NO_MATCHING ABIS: Failed to extract native libraries, res=-113]"
If that isn't an API issue, does it mean that Wear OS 2, and 3 are different architectures? If so I wonder how Samsung built their apks.

Found 2 Games for GW4...

And the other called Galaxia not installable on Android 7...

I received GW4 with the region code CHC. As you know, Google is not available in this region, so Samsung provides Galaxy Store for Chinese users. There are quite few apps available in it.
I sideload old Play Store APK from Apkmirror ( New version for GW4 cannot be sideloaded), and since I couldn't copy my account to the watch, it only shows this when I open it.

[APP] Legacy PlayStore

Hello guys!
I've found this nice app today, while I was searching over the web an way to list my purchased apps. It is called Legacy Play Store. Basically, it is an old version of Play Store hacked to allow side-by-side install with newer versions and a feature that I was missing so much: list of purchased apps.
The original source is here: http://www.modaco.com/topic/356009-r2-legacy-play-store-with-all-purchased-apps-visible/. Download is there too, since original author asked to not post this everywhere.
To install, push to /system/app and chmod it to 644. Reboot and it should be there.
Here is the changelog:
Code:
[I]r2[/I]
[LIST]
[*]Modified 'My Apps' list order to show 'Not Installed' apps above 'Installed' apps
[*]Improved compatability with AOSP ROMs
[/LIST]
[I]r1[/I]
[LIST]
[*]Initial Release
[/LIST]
Here are 2 screens:

Hope this is worth to someone else like it was to me. And hope that I didn't anything wrong!
Thanks!

All I did was rename it to phonesky.apk, and copy it into the system/app directory. I didn't chmod or anything like that. Works fine for me.
It helped me to update Google wallet, as it is the only app that is blocked by Verizon that I needed. It makes it show up as update available when the regular market does not.

This app is intended to be installed side-by-side with the standard market.
The chmod (or fix-permissions) is needed in order to android system be able to see/use it. I don't know if all Androids works like this, but on my phone it only show after I set the chmod to 644.

It worked fine for me sometimes, but I was having issues with it.
Sometimes I would have to close the app and restart it multiple times to get it to show my apps. It would keep saying no connection with a retry button, even though the play store showed them just fine.
And any apps I had that used in app purchases, where's my water for example, would take me to the legacy store and give me an error message. I had to uninstall it to get it to let me have the option for the in app purchases again.

FYI: Chmod 644 = rw - r - r (app permission)

But if no one downloads from the torrent it will die soon since I'm the only host.
Sourceforge / copy.com / newsgroups mirrors will come soon!

Finally ,, I have been searching for it all time , Thanks , Isn't there a non-vm version ? I mean like normal linux installed in hard drive .. Thanks again
This is great and will surely help many people. I will link to your guide and add additional steps specifically for my guide if you are OK with that . Also, how do I apply for XDA uni contributor status?

I haven't figured out how to make it installable, but if I remember correctly you can use virtual disk images as boot image. So you can dual boot it. And no problem

Thanks, and sure, of course you may do that. and the RD/RC application is currently closed but still available trough pm or nominations.
I could add you to the nominations list if you want. but you will have to think of a catch phrase your self like
"I recommend to add Xistance to the RC group because he made a very clear tutorial on how to build kernels and cm10, also he's very helpful"
something like that

Thanks . I am not sure yet but I will PM you later. You can dual boot it like that but it will still be reduced disk performance. I think there was a way to install on a partition but I don't remember how right now. I will post if I find out.

Ok sure, I know you can "dd" an image to a partition, but dd doesn't exist in windows. You could try to mount the vmdk file with Vmware mount (http://www.vmware.com/download/eula/diskmount_ws_v55.html?) and then copy the files to an empty ext3/4 partition or so. Good luck
Check out this tut btw: http://www.vladan.fr/mounting-your-vmdk-disks-directly-to-your-windows-box-how-to/

Well it's already installed, it's just a copy of the VMWare Virtual Machine which includes the HDD (that virtually is 160gb)
So you just need to load the VM into VMware, I think there is a method of copying this HDD image to a partition on your local HDD (which must be ext4), But i don't know how to exactly (but I know it exists, that's for sure)
Thx Brood & Happy new year

I'm doing my best to make that work, it's called remastering it seems, I did it once but more then 25% of the files failed to pack, since there is a 4gb filesize limit on this.. Anyways, Ill try to make a installable image soon
And I believe virtualbox supports VMDK as well, and btw, if you have your own company I can imagine you cannot download VMWARE, but if that's not the case then go get it for free on the interwebs
I also have a student serial for VMWARE, which I can hand over to you if you actually own a company, else just enjoy the fact that warez is free.
Oh and an other thing, VMWARE Player is always free, and still does the same job, only less management on your VM's. Anyways, having an actual iso is just better in all cases, dual boot beats a VM by far!

Thank you! I think because the links didn't work until now or so :silly:. However I changed the topic with working links, also I'm busy on the next version  that hopefully is a completely installable from iso :victory:
The wallpaper is the only thing I have to preview so far , spiced the previous one up
edit: lol it doesn't scale to the forum! Imagine how HUGE 1920x1080 is on a 640x480 screen haha

More information on ZShaolin: http://zshaolin.org
APK download: files.dyne.org/zshaolin/.xda-dev
works without root - only for ARM based devices
ZShaolin light xda-dev is an unrooted shell of full static binaries of software as: OpenSSH, Midnight Commander, Git and ncdu and of course ZSh now up to version 5.
Most of the above is compiled completely static with my own toolchain (also available in the download zone, not the Google NDK), the binaries are likely to be portable across a vast number of devices.
I'm happy if anyone finds this useful or even just entertaining.
Buy the full edition to support development, donations welcome on dyne.org
This light xda-dev version will receive no updates and misses binaries for ImageMagick, FFmpeg, Vim fully featured, Emacs, RSync and more ASCII games, all tools found in the paid version.
However, ZShaolin is free open source, all sources are provided on files.dyne.org/zshaolin and github.com/dyne/ZShaolin
Be welcome to hack it and compile your own version.
Kudos to SpartacusREX for the java installer and terminal originally by JackPal.
p.s. don't miss to start the curseofwar game :cyclops: that's quite some ASCII phun
Interesting. Perhaps I will give it a go
Nice work! I just ssh'd into my main computer from my Nexus 5
Awww man I wanted to be the one to release something like this. Just too busy to get everything polished and perfected.
I was going to release it for free too. Don't see a point in charging for compiling and bundling apps.
I already released what I had for ffmpeg in another thread earlier this year.
It uses dynamic libs too, much better for memory usage.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016463
It would be a dream if this included sshfs as well to mount a remote server directory to my Android. The only app available for that has not been updated in a year and does not work on anything >ICS.
Can you help with that?
After installing the ZShaolin system, how do i uninstall it? Do i just uninstall the app and it will delete the ZShaolin system off my device leaving no traces?

Yes. All the files are installed to the app's storage (/data/data/org.dyne.zshaolin) which is removed when you uninstall it.
It says:
ctrix: ERROR your terminal is too small (min 80x24)
Looks great in my tablet (Onda v972) the terminal slide is awesome!, despite its a little bit laggy between transitions. Thanks :good:
Working over here (S4 Tmobile).
hi,
just purchased the paid version from the google play,
any hint abt starting sshd from command line on the device ?

also is it possible to get some imageMagick sample script ?
thank you
Squandering Space?
I did a recursive descent directory listing of the /data directory via a python script I wrote.
It showed 57212 entries under /data/data/org.dyne.zshaolin
It appears that zshaolin duplicated my entire /mnt/sdcard recursively
Can anyone explain why this would ever be necessary?

Does your script check for soft links? Just a thought...

It checks now. I don't descend linked directories anymore. My perl scripts
have done that for a long time. But python is still new to me.
The number of entries reported under /data went from 288999 to 78835
It makes a lot more sense to me now. Thanks.

I'd kinda like to do that myself. Starting sshd any way at all would be nice. That would give me access through putty to the real linux tools. That would be a serious weapon.
Hey this is an absolutely fantastic app. Any scripting shell gurus will feel right at home running this is temu with pckeyboard on Andy or over telnet or ssh. It makes android feel very powerful and the author has done some very noteworthy awktastic scripting of zsh modules. I attached a mini version of this app ( 350k ) without the installation package inside. This saves you 50mb after you've already installed the system and replace the data/app apk with this.
Also forgot to mention, this can totally replace mksh in /system/bin and become your system shell. There's enough ksh similarity for all the general scripting, e.g. the print builtin.
New 0.9.1 release is out
ZShaolin 0.9.1 out on 9 September 2014
More info about ZShaolin on its website https://www.dyne.org/software/zshaolin
Main new feature is the possibility to connect to ZShaolin via ☞ SSHD from another computer. Just run the helper "z-ssh" in the terminal and follow the simple instructions.
Curl is now present and working along with some more scripting fixes.
Also try "ncdu" useful to explore the directories by size occupation.
Cheers to all GitHub stargazers! https://github.com/dyne/ZShaolin/stargazers
p.s.
Sorry no update yet for the XDA-light version, 0.9.1 is just to compile on your own (docs are lacking behind, I know...) or buy from the goog evil empire
ZShaolin 1.0 just released with Tmux
According to the poll on this forum Tmux is the most acclaimed feature for ZShaolin and so it is now there! Also the annoying surface fling is removed to make it more comfortable to scroll the console history.
This new release 1.0 is coming up on the G market and I'll make an update to the free XDA-light version in the coming weeks.
ciao!
Hi there! I downloaded your apk and installed it on an Android Mediaplayer (Tizzbird N1) because I want to use ImageMagick to downscale screenshots that I generate in an automation bashscript before posting it to a webserver.
But somehow I can't find a 'convert' binary in the my directory /data/data/org.dyne.zshaolin/files/system/bin/
UPDATE: Ahh. never mind. found in your first post that you only include ImageMagick in the paid version.

[GUIDE] Install Samsung Notes app on any rooted device

Hello guys,
I've always wanted to install Samsung notes app on my non-samsung device (tested this on device with RROS with android 7.1.2).
So if anyone wants to do the same, here's the process.
TBH, this thread is pointless as syncing to samsung account doesn't work after installing. So this is only for people who want the other writing or drawing features.
1. Download zip file from link (found it on A thread on xda, thanks to @TECK )
I'm also attaching the file in case the link's broken
2. Place the contents in respective folders (com.samsung.device.jar in "/system/framework/" and com.samsung.device.xml in "/system/etc/permissions/". Leave the rest) in root folder using a root browser(like ES) manually (I did not try flashing it).
Step 2 is a must as the apk checks if your device is a Samsung one before getting installed. The file (com.samsung.device) does this trick.
3. Restart your device.
4. Install Samsung Notes apk.
5. Enjoy.
Note : just that this process worked on my device, it doesn't mean it will work on all device (but mostly, it will work). Try it at your own risk.
Hi there, this method does not work on my rooted Xiaomi device.
Imma quite sure that both 2 files are correctly placed with ur instructions
but Google Play store still warns me that the app is not available for my device
and I have tried to use ADB on my PC to force install the apk file, that works but
when I tap the icon on my phone to start the app, it crashs immediately
can u help me with that? thanks very much, I do appreciate
PS: the app Imma trying to install is samsung tv plus, and samsung note is also unavailable after checking

Did you try the latest version? I've faced this issue with older ones.
It still works on mine.
If using the same version as mine doesn't help, try getting the logcat using some logcat reader from play store.

Hi thanks for reply
It seems that changing versions does not work for me. So I got all the logs when launching samsung app here attached. Could u take a look of that? Really appreciated
Try enabling all permissions for the app from the settings. I never got such logcat... What's your android version?

All permissions are enabled for the app
And its android 10 sir
I think the issue is mainly about these lines.
It seems to request packages called com.samsung.android.samsungaccount and others.
Do u have apk or jar files to install samsung (account) service framework sir?
Alright first check if the files are correctly placed. Rename the apk file to its package name and place it in /system/app/ reboot, enable permissions reboot and check.
I think this problem is because AOSP package installer and xiaomi's are different.

It works on some devices.. I think it depends on the oem too because when I install it on stock android I get this error.
And if someone has the same error, this works as we place the required libraries in required places. I read somewhere even before starting this thread that it works by direct installation on some Huawei Devices too.
So from what you've said, I can conclude that it doesn't work on stock ones and some oems. Don't you think so?
