I am thinking of applying Pixel Experience Custom ROM or LineageOS ROM in my PIXEL 2 when they will be available with Android 12. Should I be concerned with the chance of the degradation of Pixel's camera quality? Does a Custom ROM harm the pixel photo capturing capability?
Do the HDR+ work?

Hi, I'm considering getting a pixel 3 as the prices have come down quite a bit.
From my experience with oneplus and Sony the cameras aways take a massive hit when you flash a custom Rom. Given the gcam apk is available does the pixels have this or the gcam performance is the same whether or not it a stock Rom?
When you Install the gcam the quality is the same.
And when you Install an magisk modul the gcam has the same Performance, But even without this Module the Performance is Almost equal. The difference in speed is barely noticeable.

I've had much the same question, from what little bit of experience I have, there seems to be very little difference.
Cheers
1. Coming from a Redmi Note 4 (RN4) I know Xiaomi/Poco likes to source components like camera sensors, diplay panels and fingerprint sensors from different manufacturers. If you bought a RN4 half a year after release you got a worse camera sensor (Samsung instead of Sony) and display. What can I expect buying an X3 NFC at this point? Did you hear of worse displays and camera sensors being used? I'd like to have a sony sensor.
2. Does the Gcam on Custom-ROMs perform worse than on Stock MIUI (becauses of worse drivers maybe, I've read this somewhere)?
3. Are there 100% stable Gcams for this phone out there? I've always had crashes in bright sunlight with Gcam on my RN4.
4. Can we expect official LOS for this device soon?
Thanks

1. It's all the same hardware. From the very first reviews to the current point, nothing was changed.
2. I haven't heard that. GCam and ANXCam (stock MIUI camera for custom ROMs) have an own forum, so you may take a look.
3. GCams are pretty stable. If you had crashes in bright sunlight on your phone, you had the wrong version installed.
4. Looks like it. Take a look at the LOS thread.
I got a Poco X3 NFC myself 3 weeks ago to replace my Redmi Note 4X after 4 years or so:
Unlocking the bootloader is the same as for the Redmi Note 4X. Flashing a custom ROM for the first time was a little different than what I was used to but also very easy.
Currently I'm running ArrowOS with GApps pre-installed and I couldn't be happier. Super stable, everything works and has lots of features that are actually Pixel exclusive.
Running ArrowOS, you still get unlimited picture upload in Google Photos, for me example.
The last custom ROM I had on my Redmi Note 4X was AOSiP (Android 10) and ArrowOS feels exactly the same. It's pure Android with the addition of some Pixel features

@uiuiuiui
1. Incorrect. Poco X3 uses Tianma or Huaxing (TCL) panel. Huaxing is better by rule.
2. In photos, no, it takes much better photos. In video, stock camera is better because stabilization works properly. Anyone who says that Gcam video stabilization is much better than MIUI is deluded. Video stabilization in Gcam works in some ROMs, in some not. It works in some Gcam mods, in some not. But when you get it to work, it works horrible with a lot of judder and motion blur effects which are not present in MIUI camera. Gcam uses ROM camera drivers, but Gcam also uses special libs which makes the photo processing much better.
3. Yes, you can check out Gcam thread and try several mods including mine.
4. LineageOS for Poco X3 is developed by gardiol & he said that it won't take anytime soon to get official as he needs to rebase whole device tree for LineageOS 18.1 official. He also did LineageOS 17.1 for which he got approved for official device tree, but not the whole ROM.

Hello all!
I would love for you all to give your opinion on the OnePlus 9 camera in comparison to something like my Pixel 4 XL. My OnePlus 9 which I purchased on eBay arrives tomorrow and I am slightly worried that although the battery and performance will be a huge upgrade over my 4XL I'm concerned after reading mixed reviews about the image quality.
Coming from those who have tried pixel devices do you feel that the OnePlus 9 is in any way comparable to the pixels image quality? If you came from a pixel are you satisfied with the OnePlus 9 camera performance? Is it at least acceptable for someone like me who has children in a lot of sports in likes taking action shots?
I appreciate all of yours input and thank you for your time
My Pixel 3 XL took way better pictures across the board. The lack of OIS on the 9 is unforgivable. I use the GCam mod that was posted around here and that's at least passable but the only thing I like about the OnePlus cam over the Pixel is that it doesn't blow out reds. As someone with rosacea, it's nice that a minor flare up doesn't make me look like a tomato.

can you give me the link for the gcam u r using? thanks a lot i cant find good gcam for op9
I just switched from the OP9 to a pixel 5, which i believe has the same camera sensor as the 4, and I think the photos on the OP9 were much nicer. Sure google has good processing but the image is so grainy on the pixel 5.
On the plus side my pixel 5 isnt crashing / randomly rebooting five times a day so i'm happy.
