since I update to the latest firmware version WW18.0840.2106.86 After listening to music or the phone is turned on, the earpiece speaker stops working, makes no sound, and cannot be heard on calls. Is anyone else affected by this?

Not identical, but similar. Ended up being the speakerphone mic, but the solution was to contact Asus and have it repaired under warranty. Might be best to get the ball rolling.

No idéntico, pero similar. Terminó siendo el micrófono del altavoz, pero la solución fue contactar a Asus y repararlo bajo garantía. Podría ser mejor para hacer rodar la pelota.

when restarting the device it works again but after a while the speaker of the headset turns off again, I think everything started when I update to the latest firmware. Is it a software or hardware problem?

Hard to say. It could be a third party app causing it. Could be something in the system that's corrupt. Could be that the hardware is only shorting out with certain variables lining up.

the bootloader is open, could that influence something? I have the phone for 1 week, I think I will close the bootloader and take it to the store. In another post on this forum I read that another user had the volume lowered after I updated to this firmware version, it must be that the speaker of the headset is also turned off

You can't unlock the bootloader again if you lock it, so you may want not want to jump right into that.

this is the tencent version i think that was unlocked to load WW firmware
Relocking the bootloader won't make a difference if you're thinking warranty. If you unlocked the phone with the ASUS app, they have registered your IMEI attached to your serial number.
It's better to leave it as is. If it's a hardware issue, there is a good chance they may fix it under the warranty. You can ask them to do a full rebuild of the firmware as well, that will re-lock the bootloader. You can unlock it again..

Hi
I got a Lumia 1020 from HK recently. everything was working fine till I got the black update.
When the phone is on full volume like 10/10 for calls and 30/30 for general audio, the speaker volume just drops to almost 0. For eg if I am on a call when on the road I have the phone running on speaker, it starts off with full volume and while it is running it just drops to inaudible. If I turn the speaker off and then back on again the same issue continues. I have checked the phone volume using the buttons and it shows 10/10 regardless of wether the speaker is on or off likewise with audio from apps or just audio files or videos. Now I have tried all the resets I can think of nothing fixes it. Should I flash my phone from HK CV to AU CV? it is a RM875 model and running on black update.
The firmware version is 3051.40000.1345.1003 and the AU version is 3051.40000.1345.1006.
Anyway I can find what is the difference between these to versions?
will it be a problem if the model number is off a black or yellow phone instead of white if I have to end up flashing the phone?
Please help!

Hi Tanimi
I haven't got any equaliser app not that I am aware of. The list of audio video apps that I have are as follows
Electro Drum pads24
Full Movies hindi
Line
Mini recorder free
Music Downloader WP
Music +Videos
Nokia Mix Radio
Nokia Play to and
Viber
In the settings Equalizer presets are set to none which I guess if for headphones only and in the enhancement flip to silence is on.
Would any of these be the issue?
Cheers

Just reset your equaliser settings. if it set on non then please select the classis option.

Hi The equalizer option only highlights when I connect headphones to it. I can change it to classical but then when I remove the headphones it is not highlighted anymore, plus I rang my partners number and on loudspeaker the problem persists.
It just drops to nothing and it only returns if I turn the speaker off and on again and after a few seconds it is back to square one.
Frustrating!!

You need to master reset your cell phone or co ordinate with lumia's outlet for the solution.

Master reset as in re flash the unit or like hard reset in the settings option of the phone. I have done the latter before that didn't help and if it is flashing please refer to my OP for some more queries

Hi Tanimi1
I will get in touch with the company as advised.
Can you please help me with the second part of the OP about the different FW versions? I know that the HK FW ending in 1003 is 1.55 GB and the AU FW ending in 1006 is 1.41 GB.
Cheers

This might help. While I was thinking about the flash I put the phone in test mode and did one test on the audio the volumes low normal and high varies in volume but when in 700Mhz there is crackle in the sound which drops at 1000MHz and then totally disappears.
Everything else in the test came back good. So I am certain now that it is the firmware.
Will keep you posted if you want me to.
Cheers

I successfully flashed the phone and No Bricks in sight :victory: . However the issue with the speaker was not resolved.
While the speaker was in test mode before I did the flash I noticed a crackling sound in 700 MHz and then it reduced as the MHz reached the max. The test showed speaker was AOK but in real use even after the flash to AU var the problem existed. The volume would just drop. The other day I was using the navigator and the voice guidance did the same thing and before you know it the speaker failed to produce any sound.
I hooked it up into nokia suite for store and in test mode there was no sound at all from the speakers.
Looks like I have no choice but to send my phone away to Sydney hospital where he will be looked at and hopefull discharged in a weeks time.
FML. I have reflashed it to HK var and it will be on its way today.
Does this phone have it? If yes is it possible to workaround without flashing phone?

You are incorrect; the "nanny state" volume warning appears every single time you have headphones plugged in and attempt to raise the volume above a preset threshold (unknown threshold). Utterly ridiculous - can you imagine a giant hand appearing from the sky, with "!! STOP - LOOK BOTH WAYS !!" painted on it, every time you crossed the road? LOL!
please someone answer me
does moto g have eu volume limit if I have EU version?
I not quite sure what you guys are saying here, it has only "warning" if you exceed eu volume limit but you can still listen louder right?
I'm so confused... It would be so nice if someone could give me clear answer...

Hello
I'm one for straight answers and no fluff, so yes the (UK) variants only have a warning, it does not limit the volume as far as I know, it just jumps into "health and safety" legally unaccountable mode, and that's it. I've had my volume up very loud indeed

I don't know why that guy says my statement is false but for me you only get a warning asking if you would like to listen louder and if you press ok you can listen to your music as loud as you can and this warning only pops up one time until the device is switched off and rebooted then when you adjust the music volume you get the warning again but like i said for every boot you get it only once not every single time you try going past the suggested volume level.
Hi everyone!
I'm noticing after some days that there's a strange sound coming out from the right speaker, the part wich is in the right side of the tablet.. It mostly happens (and it's louder) after a tap on the screen, when touching something makes a *click* of the system ui... I always have the brightness at a more or less 65%, and the sound set to more than 50%, don't know how much exactly.. , And it happens more frequently when wifi is on. The problem is that the sound continues even when the screen is off, and there's no music playing...
Please, can sombody go to place without noises and check if that happens also to you? Just to know if this is a fault of my device or if it happens to everyone
Thanks!!
Nobody has this issue?? I've tested it again today and I can still hear that sound
I have it too and many other people as well. I have seen a thread about it few days ago on Official Shield Tablet Board...

Thanks! So it looks like a normal sound from the SoC... Is there anyway to make it sound less? I think it could broke the speaker, by being constantly "in use", without stoping..
May I ask you what firmware version you are using (did you update via OTA to 1.2.1)?

Yep, I think the tablet was in 1.1, and I received the 1.2.1 a week ago, so I updated it...
Same thing is happening to mine and it's on the latest firmware
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Could anyone possibly running a custom ROM confirm if this still happens? If not maybe it could mean that it can be software issue (just hoping)

On mine the sound disappears when I turn off the screen and when I am on home screen not doing anything for few seconds I can hear that speakers do turn off... But I am on software 1.0 (didn't update because no problems other than that)
So this may be software related...

Just root your device then. It's really not that difficult, doesn't void your warranty and gives you so much more flexibility.

I heard that we loose the warranty by rooting our device. Is it true ? Is their a way tout unroot ?
Will I be able to root my phone with firmware B123 on it or I have to downgrade to a lower version to root it?

kind of yeah .. bcos they will see your phone is unlocked/re-locked..
Has someone already upgraded and could perhaps share his patched magisk file?
Btw: It seems the random crashes/blackscreen ploblems that plagued alot of people here, including me, were at least to some degree Googles own fault (screenshot).
No fix for face unlock "clean the top of your screen, including the black bar"?

My face unlock works fine for the most part but every now and then I get this error. I reboot the phone and all works fine for a couple of days then it pops up again. I bought my phone from Carphone Warehouse so not sure where I stand.

Will most likely have more luck with Google. Not sure how well CPW online are for warranty claims, unless they are going to replace for a new unit I won't trust them.
I'm going to see if the new update works out before I speak to either of them. I rebooted yesterday after installing the October update so I will most likely find out tomorrow of it is resolved.
