MIUI Optimization Not Working on MIUI 12 Stock Rom - General Questions and Answers

I have a Redmi Note 7 with the stock MIUI 12 rom.
I wanted to activate floating windows in my device, so I read that MIUI optimization must be activated for it. I go to developer options, tap several times on reset to defaults and then the MIUI optimization option appears already activated. When I go back and enter again to developer options, the option dissapears again.
Despite that the MIUI optimization toggle is on, I can't use floating windows. When I enter into the recent apps and long-press any app, none of the options are displayed to use floating windows.
Does anyone now how to fix this? thanks in advance.
PD: My phone is rooted with Magisk, I've disabled all my modules (I only have riru, EdExposed and universal safety net fix) but it didn't work either.

Enable Multiple Users in KitKat 4.4

I found this Xposed module that will enable multiple users in KitKat 4.4. I'm running it on my locked bootloader Moto X. Download MoDaCo Toolkit Xposed module and enable it then reboot, next open MoDaCo and scroll down to Google Nexus (All) and check Show users on power menu, exit app and reboot phone. After reboot go to settings and under apps you should see users tap on users and tap on add. You will have two choices secured or un-secured. After choosing which one you want just set it up the way you want. Switching between users is easy; just hold down power button and choose which user you want to use. I haven't tried any of the other modifications in the app.
Note: xda, MoDaCo creator nor I are responsible for what you do to you phone.

[Q] How to allow Unknown sources if..

Hey guys,
I'm trying a stock-based rom, and I can't open "security" option in settings (I always get fc) in order to activate "Unknown sources". Thus, I can't install last version of GravityBox (and any module). My question is, how can I activate "unkown sources" option without enter in settings? Thanks in advance
PD: I guess "security" option wouldn't give me problems if I install an official Kitkat, but I don't wanna to
Thanks for all
Try to remove Xposed first, sometimes it does strange things.I couldn't open Dev options before cos of it.

[MAGISK] DISABLE pull-down of quick-toggle/status bar in lock screen on locked phone.

Maybe you all fed up with Google's decision to allow pull-down of statusbar in locked phone.
As I am, even made a bug report but Xiaomi is thicc: http://en.miui.com/thread-3078766-1-1.html
Well I found a fix for this at least in Xiaomi's MIUI:
Just replace this 2 folders in the /system/priv-app/
- MiuiSystemUI
- Settings
with the one from xiaomi.eu, of course this needs root & same xiaomi.eu version as your phone.
You'll got those features back in Settings like in MIUI 9. I tried it myself.
You can try my Magisk mod for this: https://github.com/Crescendo-BLYAT/securephone-xiaomi.eu
Script by: Didgeridoohan
As this will only work in specific device/MIUI version, my module only works for MIUI 10.1.1.0 (Oreo)!!
You can use this as template and get xiaomi.eu ROM for your respective device, extract the ROM & get those 2 folders inside /system/priv-app and replace the one in my module, touch nothing and flash in your magisk and see in the Settings > Notification & status bar -> Show on secure lock screen.
Disable that if you don't want anyone to mess with your locked phone via quick-toggle.
IT'S WORKING!! - unified installer between natrium & clover
Big thanks to Didgeridoohan :highfive:

Recent Apps feature does not function on Poco X3 Suyra V12.0.8.0.RJGEUXM

I finally decided to 'upgrade' my Poco X3 Suyra (EEA I think, even though it says 'global' in the settings) to MIUI-V12.0.8.0.RJGEUXM from V4
The upgrade went smoothly. However, now the recent apps feature when pressing the menu button does not function. When I press the button nothing happens at all. I went to 'button shortcuts' in the settings and double checked the the menu button was set to open recent apps. I switched the menu button to the other option, to open the menu on keypress. That functions just fine. I set the menu button back to open recent apps and again, nothing happens on keypress.
I'm at a loss here.
I debloated the system and removed a lot of the MIUI, Google, and misc software that came preloaded. I also went through and restricted permissions for the remaining system apps that I have no use for, but could not remove or disable.
I am unrooted and on stock ROM. Bootloader is not unlocked as I put my phone in airplane mode frequently. Also Mi Account shows my sim card as not inserted no matter what I do.
I've also noticed that my battery life is absolutely terrible now... Is it possible to roll back this update? I'm guessing no..
Thank you in advance for your help!
Does anyone know the package that handles recent apps?
To use menu button again just install Poco launcher and don't uninstall it. I assume you are using some other launcher now and in debloat process you remove poco launcher. In Android 11 launcher which come with rom must be here.

Yes Poco Launcher was removed.
I used ADB App Control to run this command on firmware V4
Code:
pm uninstall --user 0 com.mi.android.globallauncher
I then attempted to use
Code:
pm install --user 0 com.mi.android.globallauncher
to reinstall Poco Launcher.
Unfortunately this did not work.
Do you happen to know the package name on the newest firmware?
Or can I just goto the Play Store and grab the Poco Launcher from there? It wouldn't be a system app, so Idk if that would fix the recent apps issue? I notice the package name is the same as listed above.
For those that also run into the same issue. I found the launcher listed in ADB App Control under the "deleted" section of the applications window. From there I was able to restore the Poco Launcher and the recent apps are back

What works
audio
bluetooth
brightness
camera
DRM
OTA
selinux
video
wifi
wifi display (fixed at build 20220830)
What doesn't work
Torch QS not working -> regression in 0903, fixed in 0904
Back camera preview : wrong rotation on preview in default app, open camera works (fixed at build 20220903)
Some Keyboard bug. Workaround : When prompted to enter something like a Bluetooth pin or text based password, sometimes the keyboard is not shown on the screen or off screen. The workaround is to goto settings, system, languages & input, on-screen keyboard, Android Keyboard (AOSP), appearance & layout, theme and choose "Material - follow system settings".

Wow! We can get Android 12 for such an old device. Many thanks to dev who keep it alive. With LOS 19 announcement I thought for devices with old kernel A12 is not possible. Miracle!

eBPF is mandatory for android 12, but you can disable it in the code.
Some things will be broken, eg: trafic monitor

I didn't try myself, done a clean install. You can try, but make backup before.
Format system if you have gapps, install rom zip and gapps for 12.
New build up, wifi display lag is fixed. Casting is smooth with audio.
Updated my Tab over OTA to latest Version , it works perfect with your patched TWRP.
Excellent news!!
Thank you very much!!
I will try and report soon!!

Disabling the task bar:
Settings -> System -> Buttons -> enable nav bar -> go back -> Buttons -> disable task bar and nav bar
Nice work, thanks for A12.
Thank you @phoval
Great rom, mostly working fine with a dirty flash. A few issues though:
Taskbar shows on lock screen, hiding "swipe up to open" and generally not looking good
Lock screen cannot be landscape
Flashlight quick setting says camera in use
Quick settings menu laggy in portrait.
PiP to splitscreen button missing. Apparently removed in beta 3 https://9to5google.com/2022/02/09/android-12l-beta-3-new-features/

Taskbar not showing on lockscreen for me If I enabled it, but I don't use it.
Lock screen can be rotated but the option must be enabled: Settings -> Display > Rotation Settings
Flashlight QS was working early build: Will check why not working anymore.
QS is a bit laggy in portrait: dunno why.
What is PiP to splitscreen? In task view, there is a button to splitscreen.

Thanks for the reply, I will check that option.
It looks like the picture in picture player should have an option to directly load split screen. https://www.xda-developers.com/andr...-picture-in-picture-window-double-line-clock/
I'm assuming it made it into final though, I don't have a real 12L device.
Apparently removed in beta 3 https://9to5google.com/2022/02/09/android-12l-beta-3-new-features/
Flash QS is fixed in build 4th sept.
Some commits were missing on last build.
I removed 3rd build from listing (zip in old)
I recommend upgrade to 4th if you are on the 3rd
Great job and example of sustainability!
I made clean install with lineage bootloader.
OTA works
I was only able to install with mindthegapps, the rest failed during installation and Nikgapps did not start the Google assistant. Maybe issue between arm and arm64 gapps
Keep going your work!
Hi!
This rom does ram plus?
Thank you for your effort!
