TWRP Unable to mount storage on Redmi 6 Cereus - Xiaomi Redmi 6 Questions & Answers

Hello Everyone!
While I tried to root my Xiaomi Redmi 6 I encountered the error that TWRP unable to mount storage. I wanted to install Magisk from /sdcard but there was not a single file and it said that the Internal Storage is 0 MB. I already tried to format data and change file system, but it didn't fix it. It fixed it until I didn't boot (turn on) my phone. After I turned it off and put in recovery mode again the same error existed.
If I missed important information please let me know.
Sorry if I may have written something incomprehensibly. My first language isn't English.
Thanks in advance for anyone's response.

[Completed] [Q] Lenovo P780: Unable to mount \data error

Hi All,
I am using lenovo p780 8gb. while flashing custom rom using twrp it said rom installed and will reboot now. phone was stuck in the boot screen. so again i rebooted to twrp and tried to do a wipe to re-install my previous rom. it gave me this error "E: unable to mount \data".
when i tried to install the rom over it, it gave me the above error as well as "E: unable to mount internal storage. Now i did some research and tried to flash using sp flash tools with a stock rom but phone is not getting recognised by the flash tools. I have all the usb driver and have used flash tools before when my phone was working. i also tried to use some terminal commands, which i found in one of the threads. but it said that directory did not exist. file system is ext4. in file explorer internal storage is showing as 0mb. also i tried to repair option. system has 754mb out of which 99mb is free and preload has 196mb out of which 192mb is free. data is 0mb and when i click internal storage for repair it says invalid partition selected. again i wiped system, now only 12mb out of 754mb is used. please help me . can my phone be recovered?twrp version is 2.7.1.1
and i had life xvibe v09 working before i flashed with samsung ui rom.
many thanks
Anil
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I can see you've also created an identical thread here:
[Q] how to solve the error-"E: unable to mount \data in twrp?
Please refer to the XDA Forum Rules for information regarding the duplication of posts/threads. I'm going to close this thread and leave the other one open (we would have only moved this thread to that correct device section for you anyway).
Good luck!

Solution for 0 MB storage in TWRP
Hi Brothers!
It's my first time posting here , so if i make a mistake i am sorry in advance for that.
Solution for 0 MB storage in TWRP is very easy.
You need to boot your phone into TWRP.
In 2nd step you need to go to WIPE option .
Select Data and click on FS Options e.g. trying to change its partition format, most phones use Ext4.
Do same with the Data.
And TADA!!!!
Your problem is solved
I hope it helps you guys getting answer after a long time because i saw it late. Sorry for that.

Hi my YU Yuphoria 5010 started acting up since last week ,when i noticed that the phone was restarting randomly and the settings was missing and even if i clicked on the settings logo in the notification panel, nothing would happen .So i decided to flash a Cusstom ROM instead and boot into recovery. While trying to wipe cache, dalvik and data I got an error message "uable to mount data, cache ,system(invalid argument) and internal memory* was showing up as 0.So i thought my phone was bricked and tried reviving it with the sd card method. But everything else except for system flashed , and got an error FAILED (remote: flash write failure ) just for system .Anyway now I could boot into recovery using fastboot boot command and the internal memory started showing up correcty. The fastboot command is the only way i could get into recovery, if i try power+volume down it would just come up with the empty battery logo. After this i installed qualcomm drivers and manually changed the driver to Qualcomm HS-USB QD Loader 9008 and tried flashing through QFil with a flashable stock ROM and ended up with the error message:"Download Fail:System.Exception: Unable to download Flash Programmer using Sahara Protocol** at QC.QMSLPhone.Phone.QPHONEMS_SaharaArmPrgDownload(String sFileName)** at QC.SwDownloadDLL.SwDownload.QPHONEMSSaharaDownloadArmPrg(UInt64& version, String armPrgPath)
Download Fail:Sahara FailSahara Fail".
But after going through some of the posts I found that my phone might not be bricked in the first place. My device just shows up as 'Android' under Other devices in Device Manager.
The following are the details from device manager.
Device type: Other devices
Manufacturer: Unknown
Location Port_#002.Hub_#003
Problem code : 0000001C

I also tried to restore through TWRP recovery using the back up my brother created on his YU 5010A to no success.Changing the file system type and back to ext4 also didnt help. I use a Windows 10 64bit Laptop.
What could I possibly do to revive my phone?Kindly help.

open TWRP recovery.Go to wipe section and select advanced wipe option here .Now select data and cache from check boxes.then click on change partition format.Select ext4fs .Wipe it then wait for sometime because sometimes it takes approximately 15-20 mins so be patient .It will successfully wipe and then you can see that everything is up to the mark !

flash stock cyanogen rom again. Then install TWRP. Cross check at your end. We actually don't know which process you are following!
I have a YU5510A running Quarkos and YU5010A running AOSP Extended. I also flash a lot of custom Roms but never get any issue.
did you find any solution for this i can only access cyanogen recovery and fastboot mode .

Flash stock ROM using fastboot
For yu5010a you got fastboot package
Open flash all.bat
Just remove device code
02x1ebf or anything I don't remember what it was.
Remove it from all lines
Save flash all.bat
Run it

If any one got error in mounting using twrp
Just follow steps
Goto wipe -> advance wipe-> format data->
Type yes
Wait for process completion
Now reboot twrp to recovery
You see everything is mounted successfully.
Note :- with this step you format everything from your phone so don't reboot to system
Now connect phone with pc and copy any downloaded custom ROM in external SD
Flash it
Enjoy

Messed up, last resort!

I screwed up flashing my Honor 8, and I've been trying to fix it for hours now, and I figure I'd ask and check the thread in the morning.
Right now my state is:
- L04, TWRP installed.
- I can get into fastboot and recovery no problem.
- In TWRP it says /system, /data, and /cust are all failed to mount (invalid argument).
So when I try to copy an update.app to my sdcard/dload it doesn't persist after a reboot (or sometimes just fails if the update.app is large), so doing the erecovery never finds the update.app. It says data partition is 0 bytes.
I figure my last shot is actually put it on an external sd-card and try it? I haven't done that yet since I don't have one handy at the moment. Wondering if there was any other way.
Thanks so much, I definitely screwed this one up!
Follow the same advice I gave to this member in this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70856627&postcount=80
BTW, this thread is in the wrong seccion, it should be posted in Questions & Answers.

If you are/were in Nougat before messing up your phone, you don't have access to the data folder, so you must use an external sd-card!
Thanks to both of you, I got it working again. The external SD worked!
Sorry about posting in the wrong spot, I was definitely tired and slightly frustrated when posting.
Thanks again!

TWRP showing 0MB internal memory ( huawei g8)

Hi guys,
so the problem is that i cant flash SuperSu thats located on my phone memory because the TWRP is showing 0 MB,also i am unable to mount the storage in TWRP. I tried different solutions that i found on this forum( set a lock pattern,PIN,wipe/format data, change file system ) but none have worked, TWRP newer even asks for a password. Also when i try to format the data in TWRP i get the "unable to mount data,system..." error. Is there another way to flash SuperSU without TWRP, because i also tried sideloading it but it failed?
I'm betting your device is encrypted. Which is always am issue.
Any solutions i could try ?
bump?

E:Unable to decrypt FBE and E: failed to mount /tmp/com.android.conscrypt.apex

Hi guys. I'm just new to flasing roms in Xiaomi phones. I have a Mi 10T and I don't know what happened. After I successfully installed the rom and then it prompts me to swipe to reboot or something in twrp I accidentally pressed 'Do Not Install', it booted back to TWRP and now file explorer can't recognize my device. When I searched the internet about having to switch from different filesystems, it still gives me the same error. Whenever I switch from different file systems, Windows File Explorer can recognize the device but there's no partition on it. It says uknown. Please, anyone. I need help

I tried doing it right now but I still get the same errors plus two new ones:
unable to set contexts for /data/recovery/ and
unable to create log directory for TWRP
