This is one method for getting any banking app on rooted Android phones running nougat and higher to function. I tested in Android 10 and 11.
Google has offered native support for the work profile starting with nougat. (https://support.google.com/work/android/answer/6191949?hl=en).
To my understaing, it isolates everything from the primary profile by creating a container that contains files to run a new os with its own data. As a result, root must also be isolated. Therefore, we may take advantage of this advantage to run banking apps that aren't compatible with rooted apps, notably some apps that won't function even with the usage of settings in Magisk Hide.
To create and enable the work profile, you need an app. There arent many. I also came upon the apps Island and Shelter.
Island is available in the Google Play Store at this link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island&hl=en).
Shelter is available in fDroid (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.typeblog.shelter/)
1. Download and install Island or Shelter
2. Create a work profile (simply adhere to the on-screen directions). There will now be two profiles: a main profile and a island profile.
3. Clone the applications you want to use. It might request root permission, deny it. Never accept it.
4. launch the application from the island.
5. Make sure that magisk application is not installed in the work profile. Magisk has to be only in the main profile and you have to deny the root access to the island or Shelter.
You can create shortcuts to homepage for ease access.
If you are using the default launcher, a new work profile tab will show up that shows the work profile's app drawer. You have the option to activate and deactivate that profile whenever you choose.
i used my native banking app, it worked flawlessly.
Update: Banking app systems are updating and this method might not work for some banking apps. Try magisk hide too by changing the magisk's package name and deny the root request for Island and Shelter.
Thanks man is works very well
All the banking apps working properly using this application called island:?.

Just use magisk hide to hide the app from detecting root and hide magisk in settings
No it's not working for all the banking apps.
Some of the apps can detect root information even after you use magisk hide. But using 'island' apk all banking apps are working without any prob.

i share the same thoughts as you but i didnt test it actually. good to hear it works
what the differences in my mind are : i want to make it to run in a different env as to bypass the path specified in the rc and use the original system partition in case magisk/xposed is installed so as to avoid further root detection
it's work but I have to sign in every time I open app. Is there anyway to use fingerprint?
The problem I have is that I cannot install the bank app: Revolut.
The Play store tells me it's not compatible, a downloaded APK doesn't install.
I followed instructions to add modules. One of them is Petnoire's_SafetyNet_spoofer. All other modules were flashed and installed successfully, only Petnoire's_SafetyNet_Spoofer not. I downloaded the file from 2 locations, unfortunately with the same disappointed result.
Any advice?

sign in?
did you mean entering the first security authentication like password, pattern, and pin?
if so
I didn't found anything to change it to fingerprint if you turn off and turn on work profile
I'll let you know if I found anything

I didn't mentioned anything regarding modules. You told that a banking app you sideloaded instead of downloading from the play store as it is incompatible. Did it work?

No, it didn't install.
But, I uninstalled BusyBox pro, hide Magisk Manager and did the Magisk hide of all apps, except system UI.
I rebooted, and could install the app by the Play store.
I had read something about going to Google play settings to see the Play Protection certificate was signed. Before it wasn't, after the adjustments and reboot, it was.
Thank you for your time!
Hi, could it work on a unlocked Galaxy S7 with Android 8 (no longer knox)?

My Banking -APP is working again
Need help.
Hey, I tried installing my banking app to Island, but it doesn't work when isolated. Has something to do with NFC-data not exchanging properly through work profiles.
My banking app detects an unlocked bootloader. From what I've heard, Magisk 20.4 can't hide bootloader/secure boot status due to Google's new update? Although, I've heard something about Magisk 20.1 being able to do this. Is this true? Don't want to jump into decisions without checking upp first.
I'm on a OnePlus 7 Pro GM1913. Located in EU.
Nah doesn't work, i think my banking app is too powerful
Does this method still work?

From nougat onward google has provided natively support to work profile. (https://support.google.com/work/android/answer/6191949?hl=en). Shortly what it does is create an account which isolates everything from main profile(current data). So it also has to isolate root too.. So we can use this advantage to run banking apps which wont support in rooted apps, specifically some apps that wont work even you use magisk hide or any other software.
you need an app to create and turn on the work profile. There's not a lot. I found too apps 1. Island 2. Shelter. Island can be found in play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island&hl=en).
1, download and install
2. create a work profile (just follow the instructions on the screen)
now there will be two profiles one is main and another is island
3. clone your desired app. it will ask for the root permission.
4. open the app from the island
you can create shortcuts from that island
if you are using default launcher a new work profile tab will be appear which will show app drawer in work profile. You can turn on and off that profile whenever you want.
If you want to delete the profile go to island app >> three dots menu >> settings >> setup & shutdown click on the delete button beside the island. if it wont work got to your phone settings >> accounts >> there you will see a work profile at the bottom click on the "remove."

I am curious if this method works for others who are having difficulty with banking apps (that have worked just fine, until recently).
I've been reading about Google's dreaded hardware attestation built into their SafetyNet Attestation API. Here is a link to the info: https://www.xda-developers.com/safetynet-hardware-attestation-hide-root-magisk/

BTW I am totally free of Google; no Google Play Store, no Google Pay, no Google Framework, no Gapps, no Google spyware, no Google bloatware, no Google tracking etc.
I download all my apps as APK's which are readily available on the Net ( Google them . . . just kidding! ).
My older Samsung S3 i747 is a 'd2att' originally locked to Rogers, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Then switched over to MTS (Manitoba Telephone System). Now running on Bell Canada. My replacement is also a Samsung S3 T999, originally running T-Mobile in Arizona, now running on Bell Canada.

Hello everyone.
Because I passed over the "rooting" period, I am more interested in getting the max out of this phone without rooting it.
This thread I intend to make it about apps (useful ones) that requires no root in order to work.
I would start with an ad blocker.
My favourite tool is Blokada - https://blokada.org/
Plain and easy to install and use and works fine.
Next is Vanced - a more adVanced YouTube player. https://vancedapp.com/
Simple to install but, before using it, you must disable MIUI optimization
Another app that worth mentioning is Twilight. If you are a night phone user, this app is here to protect your eyes.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.lux
MIUI - Contacts and dialer
If the stock (Google) dialer and contacts is not for you, you can try the MIUi - Contacts and dialer app, slightly more aesthetic.
Xiaomi Contacts and dialer 12.2.4.5 APK Download by Xiaomi Inc - APKMirror
Xiaomi Contacts and dialer 12.2.4.5 APK Download by Xiaomi Inc - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads

If you want a more loud sound - even if on this stereo speakers phone isn't really necessary, you can use Volume Booster. Beware of not setting it over 20% otherwise you will risk hearing and speakers problems.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodev.volume.booster
I will update the list with some other apps.
If you have something to add, please feel free to share.
WaveUp can turn the screen on and off "automatically" via waving over the proximity sensor. For users of "book covers" the app is quite useful, as you can set it so that the screen is activated by opening the cover and deactivated after a predefined time after closing it.

Termux. It's impressive what it can do without root.
Does having to use adb to grant permission count? If not any Package Disabler can do some damage
SD maid, it may be an old app but it still does thinks better than a lot of apps.
Can't forget about how useful Mixplorer can be. I have not looked for a different file browser because it I can't think of anything it can't do.
Adaway works without root now, not sure how well because I go nuts not having root, lol
And my newest discovery, the one that actually caused me to get rid of Chrome completely because I found Bromite.
Yes Bromite (Google it) it's such an amazing web browser.
Turmux
Package Disabler
SD Maid
Mixplorer
Bromite (Just try it, you won't regret it. Not on Play Store, Google is afraid of it)

A different launcher, less useless gimmicks and focused on productivity.

Here's another app that might be useful for some.
SystemUI - to slightly modify some hidden options on UI. No root, just ADB to grant some permissions

If you are annoyed with your default messages app, coz of the cluttered unorganised ui, and u get lot of sms then try Sms Organizer from "Microsoft". I have been using this app since it first came out, it basically organises all ur messages automatically into categories like transactions, personal, promotion etc. and it only shows you what's important in a message in the popup or notifications panel, for example it will only show you the OTP if u got one msg of it, it will show you the amount debited/credited to ur account if u gat a transaction msg, it will tell u if u got cashback, it will remind you for ur upcoming event and online order delivery stuff. So the conclusion is you must use this app as ur default messenger no matter what phone u r using, this will make your life 10 times easier and the ui is super clean too, it also has dark(amoled) mode.

Logging doesn't work with 10 up, I believe... test it and let me know.
Karma Firewall - Apps on Google Play
Karma Firewall app lets you block internet traffic to and from specific apps.
play.google.com
I'm quite a fan of NoRoot Firewall:
NoRoot Firewall - Apps on Google Play
Firewall WITHOUT ROOT. Host name name filtering, fine-grained access control.
play.google.com
I don't trust a lot of apps and NoRoot works well. It blocks all apps by default and you can choose to allow Internet over wifi, data, both or neither. It also supports filters so you can globally block particular sites.
It's usually the first thing I install when I gte a new phone or reinstall.
You do have to keep in mind that if a trusted app can't access the Internet, NoRoot may be blocking it, so you just enable it and away you go.
Cheers
Steve
IMHO a must have app is the:
Download Progress++

Should be a default android option.

So I installed the newest riru core and edxposed today. The only problem is I don't know how to pass safetynet with these. I tried check pass safetynet and xposed hide (checked google services, google play store and google services framework) but still not help. Any solution for it?
(I'm on rooted stock ROM)
I got 4 phones and all fail with the latest google update (and running edxposed). I've given up and installed lsposed and safetynet works fine.
It's a little bit more work because you've to add every application to the module (so from a handling perspective it's more a mix of edxposed and tai chi). For me this comes in handy - I like only a couple of apps being handled by lsposed.

I've just tried lsposed and it passes safetynet well. So only one question about it. If I'm using a module (for example core patch 3.5) which apps shall be ticked? It recommends only system frameworkframework but I don't know that it requires other apps or not. My goal with this module is to disable signiture verification.

I don't use core patch, but in general I would describe it as this.
You'd like something to be changed. Let's assume it's the gps location. You download a module to cheat the location and you should tick all the apps where you want this thing (i.e. the location) changed. e.g. It doesn't make sense to tick google maps or you won't be able to navigate.
In your case I would assume system framework is a good start, because it's probably the system that does this signature check. When you use an app like Play Store and it does the verification on its own then you should probably check that app as well. With lsposed you might have to enable some apps (system, games, ..) that are usually hidden inside the "tick" window (upper right corner).
Well core patch is like lucky patcher. It patches android to disable sign verifications and be able to install unsigned or older version of apks top of the play sotre version. I ticked only system framework and it works so I don't think I should tick at other apps.
But thx anyway the tip for lsposed!
I cant figure it out either. I give up.
I've been using a banking app for the last year downloaded from Aurora. After a routine update it will not open because of an "invalid installation source".
This happened once before but cleared up after a few uninstalls and reinstalls.
I checked my phones Safetynet status using YASNAC and it passed both the Basic Integrity and CTS Profile Match tests.
I've done the uninstalling, installing, restarting, etc, without any sucess.
Any ideas how I can get the app working again?
Isn't this banking app available on Google Play Store?

Uninstall old Aurora Store & then try installing Aurora Store from Aurora Droid or F-Droid. Aurora Store is working for me after I reflashed Android 10 Custom ROM RR yesterday evening.
FYI :
When my device was new like 5 years ago, just for once I installed banking apps directly from playstore and let it finish all the safety checks & droid guard checks it had to , after that its been 5 years now that I've ditched banking apps for net-banking & each time I login to banking apps if the need be, I can use them without a glitch (thanks to magisk hide which is now zygisk) even though I've been using 3 or 4 different Custom ROMS on the same device all these years & even now. I think what the banks check primarily is that the phone number & device ID should be the same as before when it had passed safety check, if its other than that then they get suspicious.

Thanks for your advice. I"ve installed the latest Aurora, 4.1.1 but the problem persists - I can install the banking app but when I open it just get a screen saying "invalid installation source".

Alternatively, maybe you can try by using Opera Browser either from your device or from a PC/Laptop if banking apps is what you want. I ditched bank apps for the same very reason- dont want Pleysthore on device. I find Opera browser to be fast & secure, only caution is to turn off Opera VPN before logging into bank website because the password will be exposed to opera servers. all banks will have HTTPS Secure Login so no worries there. I find net-banking more complete than bank apps btw.

MOD ACTION:

Hello all,
I have the option to buy this wonderful peace of tech on Friday but I have still some concerns. Maybe some of you can bring some light in the dark
1. Smartwatch: I have a Galaxy Watch4, can I pair it? Is this possible with or without root? Any limitations known?
2. Access to business apps: I use Microsoft Teams and Outlook on Android and this is managed via the company portal. Means the device is managed and Microsoft Intune policy and this can detect a root and blocks the access. Can this be somehow be fixed?
3. Notifications: I read a few times that there are some limitation with notifications, is a needed to have a root to fix the notification issues?
4.Banking apps: Are banking apps working after root?
5. Split screen: Is vertical split screen view supported by default without root?
6. System language: Can German be selected after performing the root?
1. cannot answer this
2. yes, I use this just like you and it works 100% flawlessly
3. no, not needed
4. banking apps work without root (you have full access to Google Play Store)
5. Yes. (if you want horizontal split you have to disable MIUI optimazations in the Developer Options which COULD cause problems).
6. I don t know
Remember that when you root you will not have OTA updates anymore
If rooting, then my experience with banking apps with Zygisk and Shamiko is as follows:
Google Pay - working (including for nfc)
HSBC - working
Curve - working
Halifax - detecting root (despite renaming Magisk, Adaway, Denylist - via both Zygisk and Shamiko
Nationwide - working
as Android Auto is too important for me I had to root - Androplus's Magisk module works great - big shout out to him!

With or without root?
no root sure , never root any devices long times ago , samsung health work too , and samsung health monitor too .
I am thinking of switching from my vivo X Fold to the Mix Fold 2 because the vivo is starting to annoy me with irritating notifications about using third party launchers, using developer mode, battery usage of apps, and so on.
