Flashing 8T US unlocked with EU version - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

I'm flashing a 8T US version with a EU build. Do I need to do anything with the modems? Will the US version 5G modems work in Europe? I'm aware the European 5g bands are different from the US
Thank you

No one has any info on the OnePlus 8t flashing?

Look here.

You don't need to flash anything. I've been on the EU build and I find it much better than the NA build

Hey Smallsmx3 - I just did the eu msm tool last night on my T mobile 8t and it seems great at first, data and wifi work great, BUT I just realized TXT and calling don't seems to work, and (much less importantly') netflix in the play store says it's 'no longer compatible with my device' and hulu doesn't even show in the play store. Have you had any issues or do you know what I could try to fix this?
THX!!

I had the Netflix thing and it resolved itself after a little bit. I don't use Hulu. But I can install it. I'm sure you need to let all the apps download and settle.

Thx very much! The call and text started working, not sure what i did to fix (left the house and came back, so possibly off and back on WiFi?)
Anyway I'll wait and see about the other stuff.
Thx again

unfortunately, the stutter has not improved on Oreo. In fact, it feels worse.

Has the camera app improved in Oreo?
Has anyone successfully tried flashing NMI81C to an unlocked device? I can't imagine there'd be a problem, but if no one has done it or seen any problems with it then I know what I'm doing when I get home tomorrow. That was the last build my bluetooth music controls worked with, so I'm pretty excited to be able to flash back to it.

I do not think any app was updated. Unless there is some API in Oreo that would inherently improve the cam.
Does anyone know if you can flash the unlocked firmware onto the Sprint's variant of the Essential after it is carrier unlocked?

Oreo running great...only found one bug dealing with wifi hotspot and not being able to select 5ghz as the band to use.
Since flashing Oreo last night I am getting excellent battery life and it appears that I may do better than I was on Android nougat. Personally I really like this phone and no the camera is not the best but for $450 this is probably the nicest phone anyone can hold in their hand at any price point. Once the dads get interested because of price and we can get a port for the Huawei camera I'm sure this camera would do very well

Nice, I will try to flash the Oreo beta of the Unlocked version to my Sprint variants. BTW, do you happen to know how to trigger the UICC unlock menu without having to have the Sprint sim in there and activate the phone? Sprint reps told me the phone is unlocked on their end, but my phone still say invalid sim because the UICC unlock menu has not been activated on the phone itself. Would flashing the unlocked firmware solves this?
Only downside for me so far on the beta is battery life.
On nougat I would go to bed with 100% battery and wake up with 100%.
On Oreo I woke up with like 97%. Keeps dying quicker during the day as well, but this is expected as they mentioned the Oreo framework wasn't optimized for battery life yet.

Not only does it work but definitely recommended as you will get the latest fingerprint sensor fix as well as better screen touches.
I am coming up on 24 hours into this Oreo beta, and it's my daily driver. So far, so good. Battery life seems a bit better for me, although it was great before - hard to do an apples to apples comparison though. No bluetooth issues, in fact, this seems a bit better with Plantronics Voyager/Legend than before - haven't tried in the car yet. I had one spontaneous reboot (I wasn't using it, just sitting on the desk and I noticed it rebooting) but so far, I can't see any reason not to charge ahead. The install did turn off wifi calling, I had to re-enable that. No service/signal issues (on T-Mobile in central Texas).

Touchscreen sensitivity?

Anyone having issues with the sensitivity of the touch screen after the latest update? Im noticing that it doesnt recognise some touches for example when typing (which is a real pain) and also sometimes when hitting toggles.

Latest EU weekly doesn't have that issue.

EU weekly is custom rom based on china dev. I bet OP is on newest global stable. Some people are facing this issue and some not. I wonder if Xiaomi is using few different models of Samsung's displays

You are probably correct, I hear nothing but issues on the stock China and Global. EU runs so well I'm actually surprised anyone bothers with any other version of MIUI.
It is the Global Stable I am on. Was on the EU rom but kept getting the error on play store saying App is too large and it was beginning to be a pain. Is it resolved as I would go back to EU tonight if thats the case.

I downloaded it and flashed it myself, and I like it so far also! And oh man, I had the Epic 4G on Sprint too... Those were some pretty wild days lol.
Ok, I have it now too. Had to manually check for an update. However, I am not liking it for one HUGE reason. All sound, notifications, calls etc are so quiet I can not hear them anymore from across the room. I basically have to have my phone in my hand to hear it and even then, if I am watching TV or anything, it is drowned out. Currently searching for solutions.

I actually didn't wipe before using Odin, but I used the regular CSC so the phone did wipe after the flash. One way or the other I wanted to wipe for a fresh start but I didn't realize that maybe I should wipe before flashing.

I was wondering if we could pinpoint exactly the advantages of the T-Mobile carrier Pie firmware for a T-Mobile user, as opposed to the U1 firmware? I know video calling, but I think I read somebody say something about RCS 1.0 and band 28 support? I guess I am trying to weigh those things against that wonderful built-in caller ID on U1 ?

Oh cool thanks. I don't use video calling and I'm not sure RCS even comes into play much yet?
I got my OTA update Saturday February 16th and so far it's great; dark mode, auto restart, gestures, and UI improvements are just a few things to mention. The only two things that are a annoying is the removal of recent apps being sorted as a list I personally don't understand why they took this out and really hope they add it back. Second is the icons, Is it just me or the icons seem bigger? I've tried resizing through display settings and changing the dpi in developer settings, but nothing. Other than that Samsung did a fantastic job on this update

This is a fresh firmware you have to flash using the modded Odin. There's no need to update to any other versions so as long as you're on a snap variant - you're good to go!

Q Beta3 Google Fi

Just flashed Beta3 this morning which of course wipes system. Went smooth per instructions provided on Essential Developer page. I restored all apps and data from my LG V35 via phone to phone restore no problem. I've had no problems with connecting to Google Fi so far but it's only been a short time. Data seems to be fine and the phone is very smooth.
Also was able to logon to both my BOA and Chase accounts using their respective apps. Just turn on dark mode minutes ago so don't know how that will go.

I don't have an SIP account and that seems to be the only option under the app Phone>three dots>settings>calls
The answer seems to be "not in beta 3".
BTW, I'm using it as a daily driver and I'm very pleased for a Beta. Again, so far!
I use Dark mode on all my computer/browsers and now with Dark mode in Android Q, this is awesome. I can't help but believe it should really help battery life. Bluetooth is working fine with all my devices..... AVR, auto and headsets. connecting in Aptx. I'm a big audio fan.
It's just amazing that this two year old phone is being brought back to life with Q!

I just joined Google Fi with my ph-1 knowing that it would not automatically switch from T-Mobile to sprint but I thought I could force it to switch with dialer codes or signal spy. After trying it and it failed to switch and doing some searching it seems like I’m just stuck with it on T-Mobile. Is this the case for you?

Question Change what RCS server messages connects to?

Hi everyone,
As some of you have probably seen if you live here in the USA carriers have moved to use their own RCS servers instead of jibe. The issue is they do not communicate with each other so now I basically send SMS to everyone instead of chat. Does anyone know how to force the messages app to connect to the jibe servers? I have tried uninstalling updates for messages and installing a vanilla version. You get the unskinned messages app which is nice but still tries to connect to att.
Unfortunately there is no way except to install the U1 firmware. I did it. It works wonders.

Won't trip Knox. A few things are different. Video Calling is Duo only and visual voicemail is only through the app, no direct link in the phone app. Wifi Calling and everything else works fine. Phone seems quicker and battery lasts longer in my testing.

Thanks for all the help! I use duo only anyway. My battery last all day with room time to spare so if it's even better thats a plus. All this just to not use ATT terrible RCS servers. SMH.
Yep, seems to be the only fix as of now. Maybe AT&T will get their heads out their asses and fix it eventually.

Hey everyone, I installed the U1 firmware and got the Jibe mobile confirmed and rcs back up with Google Messages from APKmirror but now the color of RCS messages is a weird shade of blue instead of the dark blue I had on my previous phone. is this something i'm doing wrong somehow? Samsung messages drove me crazy with their color scheme and I needed messages back to normal but now the off color is a little upsetting.
I can't find anything on it. Thanks

I figured it out, I ended up uninstalling app and clearing cache and data and reinstalling the apk.
Wait, does the U1 firmware also fix the SIM Card Manager utility to properly select which SIM is used for data, calls, and texts?
It sounds like this is what I need to install.
EDIT: Nope.
