I've noticed that the proximity sensor doesn't work as it should be working while speaking at the phone, taking a call.
At a slight movement of the head the screen goes on and off, when it should stay permanently black. Does anyone else noticed this problem as well?
Not a problem as such, but that's how MIUI works. The moment it detects your ears are off the phone, it lights up the screen for you.

Hi guys,
I dont know if this has already been discussed or if anybody has had the same problem,
The proximity sensor that is supposed to turn off the display while in call only works when i make a call. If i am receiving a call then the display stays on and i end up ending the call accidently will my cheek.
I was wondering if there is a fix or app to sort this out. I am looking for something that purely sorts this problem out and dont really want any other features etc.
Many thanks,
Loz
Is there an app that can monitor the proximity sensor based on a user defined list of apps and turn off the screen?
For example; the US T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app is nice to have, BUT when you place the phone to your ear (to listen to the voicemail) it may tap the close icon or activate something. It definitely needs the auto screen off feature.
Add in the ability to also use the g-sensor and when the phone is upside down (or sideways) and the proximity sensor (or light sensor) is triggered, put the phone to sleep. This would be triggered when the phone is about to be placed into my pocket.
I agree. I find that if I put the HD2 up to my ear to hear a Visual Voicemail message, I invariably hit the screen with some part of my ear which stops playback and often initiates deleting the recording. Surely there is a way to activate the proximity sensor while running this app?
it will be nice to fring o r numbuzz too
When my screen turns off, the microphone stops working... this is a bug in the Rom... this is annoying during calls.
I tried to disable the proximity sensor with:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25506531&postcount=44
and
gsm.proximity.enable=false
but nothing works.
Or how could i prevent that the screen dims/turns off during calls.
Flash a ROM without that bug. Have you asked the developer?
The developer is working on it.
But is there another way to disable the proximity sensor?
Whenever I attend a phone call or call on messenger app the screen goes off immediately as if I have held the phone against my ear. Then I lose control of the phone completely. I can't put the call on loudspeaker as the screen is off. The screen comes back after a while when the other person on the call ends the call. Or I have to switch off my phone. This happens also when I play an audio file on Whatsapp, the screen goes off and I hear audio from the speaker adjacent to front camera.
My friends having same phone and Android version don't face this problem. I tried rooting my phone, installed a custom ROM AOSP [7.1.1_r12]Nougat for Nexus 5 [N4F26M] but the problem still persists. If anybody knows the FIX or any suggestion please reply.
The proximity sensor is not positioned in the center and this make the display to turn on automatically if I move the phone slightly while I am on the call. The calling screen app is buggy, it will turn on the display automatically even if I press the power button to turn off the display while I am on the call. This issue still didn't get fixed in the latest update. I am so annoyed with the calling screen that I have to rely on earphones to make calls now. Any solution?
