Not sure why your not getting updates through your phone. You could try to clear data and cache for the software update apps and see what happens.
You can update via odin. The difference is when downloading from websites is it the full firmware pakage. Updating via the phone just installs bootloader version, security patches and minor inprovements (and major android updates ). The main difference is the file size.
Full firmware - few Gb, phone updates - maybe a few hundred Mb.
Updating with odin should not effect future updates through the phone.

Thanks for replying

[Q] Does OTA update do it individually?

I searched through other threads but I couldn't find an answer. I was just wondering if OTA updates install all of the updates at once to the latest firmware or if it asks to update each time to the next one.
Thanks for the help!
Updates are cumulative. Each update includes all of the previous ones.

It depends.
Last update was minor one and the size of it did not definitely allow to have all previous updates to be included.
For excample SGS3 last update to 4.1.1 also was different in size OTA vs Kies so ota was just a update and Kies had full rom.
Also when you buy new device you sometimes have to update it many times in a row - meaning they are not cumulative.

Unless the update is adding a good amount of additional apps and feature, the size should be relative small increment between versions. The rule of updating is cumulative unless otherwise noted by the manufacture. As you could see going from ICS .30 version to JB .16 is big (adding Google now, and other stuff) the size jumped from 379,257 to 465,064 (this is already compressed). Another thing you could check is if you downgrade back to .30, what is the OTA version when you boot up?? If incremental is required, you should see .16, then .20 etc...but if you see .23, then that's all you need!

Sometimes they are - in some other thread a direct OTA from 9.4.5.26 to 10.4.4.20 was sighted.

When I click the update it doesn't tell me which one it is going to update to. Just current. I'm on .26 right now as it's a new device and I'm just trying to figure out what I need to do in what order to get cleanrom on it. This is prob a noob question but if I update to .23 will I be able to flash TWRP and cleanrom fine? Or should I update to .20 and wait on .23?

The same with me. And I had to put back a backup, because I got a problem with Magisk. So I will not install this December update.
(I rather would like to see some form of Lineage on our phone, to get rid of all kinds of apps I do not want to install on my phone.)

Hi, I thought you were right. But actually there *is* a new 1 feb update that I already put on my phone. The phone will not recceive it ota, but you can install it using ODIN. Sammobile.com is a good source. I downloaded the Dutch version from there (I had another good source to check for the correct file) Sammobile is horrifyingly slow though.... You will need a couple of hours to download. And in fact it took me several hours too to get my phone back in order.
My A7 stuck on Samsung logo screen after updating to Android 9 Pie, any fix ?

Android 10 OTA released again.

I just got ota update released again, it is 1.15 GB, i will wait with update.
I am located in Eastern Europe. Good luck
Have received the notification.
Can confirm the size.
Will not install it for now.
I am on Android Pie, so i don't know what's up with people who have Android 10 already installed.

I just got it too, should i update?
Just installed!
Everything is fine not any big bug that worth mentioning!
It can lag a bit if you wont make a factory reset afterwards
Came directly from pie 10.0.20.0 everything is fine i think ots safe to install

Is it the same update as few days ago?
11.0.4? If yes ,then I wonder why they stop the OTA just to start it over without changing/fixing anything...
It's like xiaomi devs are a bunch of amateurs who doesn't own this device therefore unable to test their updates and just hope for the best when they release one...
Yes it's the same 11.0.4.0

gonna update until they pull it back again
I'm on Q from the first update - 11.0.2.0 - which is running without major bugs, just a bit worse battery usage and less maximum brightness They don't offer me any update yet.

There's a process for applying the OTA or a fastboot image you can use to upgrade.
I expect you'll get a OTA offer soon anyway. I just missed it last time but got it now. OTA from 10.0.20.0

Update 51.1.A.2.1

Just got the Update from 0.672 to 2.1
It increased quite a bit... will update with screenshot when it's done.
But the patch was only around 76mb in size. So i don't expect more than security update.
Edit:
Maybe only may patch. Got it too.
Isn`t it buil-number 52.1.A.2.1 instead of 51?
anything new and improved in this build?Like is the lag and touch screen issues fixed?
Does Sony ever release any changelogs? This is bizarre, not knowing what's going on.
Fingerprint Reader improved a Lot with this Update - for me at least
I am looking to download this firmware version 52.1.A.2.1 so I could flash it with flashtool (I'm on 0. 672) I'm using a customized US firmware, I have been checking for OTA updates but I've got nothing.
Edit 1: I got the firmware in Xperifirm and installed it but the bugs I was experiencing didnt get fixed.
edit 2: I came back to Android 9
And as usual,Singtel SG always late update, should be the last..oh my God

May update not available

My phone doesn't see the May update, it says the April update is the latest one. Can anyone guess why?

I don't know. I never wait for OTA to arrive. As soon as the factory image is available, I download it and flash it manually...so...
There's always a lag before the updates roll out via OTA. I don't even get them because I guess Google sees Magisk and just refuses to offer it so I also download the factory image and dirty flash it.
My son's 4a just got the update as I wrote this post...
