Ok, so i have a tracking program i made for my phone in C#, basically it uses my GPS gets coords stores in db then uploads then to a server which tracks me on gmaps.... now we have little icons for a car or a person walking... but no way to tell the difference, so my idea was to use the Accelerometer to tell if i was walking or driving, but i have no idea where to begin or if this is even possible? ideas?
I don't know about the accelerometer but you may just want to put a speed cap on the "icons"
ex if your tracked speed is less than 10 miles an hour your icon would be a person, if higher than 10 your icon would be a car (maybe specify a time so that every time you stop at a light your icon continues as a car)
Hey.
Instant GPS Lock, Maps show wrong location, Navigation takes 10mins to find GPS??
So my GPS connects instantly using GPS Test APP. But on Maps it shows me as wrong location so I cannot use that to navigate.
Navigation on the other hand, GPS works perfectly, but it takes 10mins for the navigation to start and it to find GPS.
Is it because Navigation is trying to download maps, and my data connection being slow?
I am on stock no custom rom.
Please let me know how to fix this.
Thanks.
Green bars don't mean you're locked in on this phone. You get a lock when you have an Accuracy reading or a green circle with GPS Test app. In GPS Status app, it's the Lat/Long/Altitude/Last Fix ect...when locked. You probably have bad GPS. Mine connects in around 2-3 minutes.
My GPS connects in like 10 seconds max. Maybe you have a bad GPS.
Is there a recommended app for calibration or testing?
I don't know why but all the GPS based sports apps are very slow to lock even in a bright sunny day!
I think those apps are asking too much sats to begin working, I mean with GPS TEST it can find 4/5 sats easily after only 10 secs but if I open a sports app it will take ages to find sats!!!
Where is the problem?
And yes I am using Fasterfix
Do you really get at actual gps fix with just 4 sattelites?
Sort of similar problem. I am a run.gps user, and while getting a fix isn't so bad I keep losing signal on a clear day. No such problem with GMaps...
Fitness tracking apps the past few weeks (Endomondo, Strava) have really poor GPS tracking - the track jumps around and is very jagged. The fitness apps are not running in low power mode of any sort. This occurred before and after the Android P update, and a full system wipe after upgrade to Android P did not fix it.
When looking at GPS Status & Toolbox, GPS lock only takes ~2 seconds but accuracy never goes lower than 9m. It is seeing ~25 satellites and fixing on 20. Resetting cached GPS data does not improve it.
Side by side with an S9+, the S9+ consistently gets 3-4m accuracy. Any idea what other steps I can take to improve accuracy? It hasn't always been this way, and I haven't changed anything like the case that might impact reception.
Hello.
I have a Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro - and the GPS position "freezes" when using navigation.
This is manifested by the fact that when driving a car or walking, the GPS location position just seems to lock up. I checked on the GPStest and it looks like the GPS position freezes / locks, the satellites show active (but do not change) to the way I go, e.g. 40km / h and stop, then the navigation shows these 40km / h and the hour (seconds) do not update in GPS.
It detects the GPS position very well, AGPS reset or, for example, cleaning the GoogleMaps cache does not help. Sometimes restarting the phone will help, sometimes the position itself will unlock. I thought it might be a problem with the maps, but all the maps go crazy and there is also a problem on GPS testing applications as I described.
In practice, when driving on any map, e.g. GoogleMaps - the position goes crazy, moves backwards / jumps forward / backwards, shows badly or reacts with a huge delay.
I noticed that if I turn off "location" in the menu - then all satellites / position / time / speed are blocked (i.e. similarly to this problem that the GPS itself locks when it wants to), but in this case I force the location to be turned off . That's what I noticed by accident.
Someone may have a similar problem?
Regards (sorry for my bad English).
