Question about modem-config OEM.sin and sys.sin - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi guys,
I understand that modem.conf is a selector for which modem.mbn file to load? Right now I would like to make my device G8232 (XZs dual) load up specific modem.mbn for my provider which is Three UK (hutch_uk) such as for example "amss_fsg_keyaki_hutch_uk_volte_vowifi_tar.mbn". But my current firmware has no modem.mbn files in sys.sin and no modem.conf file in OEM.sin related to hutch_uk.
I downloaded single sim version firmware G8231_Customized NOBA_41.3.A.2.247-R9E, in this sys.sin all of the required modem.mbn files for Hutch_UK are present! But in the OEM.sin is no modem.conf for Hutch_UK which makes me believe that even if I flash single sim firmware, the correct modem.mbn file will not be loaded or am I incorrect? Seems illogical to me to not include modem.conf for hutch_uk but to include the modem.mbn files.
I thought to check OEM.sin from XZ F8331_Customized UK_41.3.A.2.192-R3E firmware also since this device uses the same modem. In modem-config folder is modem.conf and one folder for 122 and one for 452, all using only "telefonica_uk" so no specific call-up for "hutch_uk" mbn (I presumed they would be name related to MCC and MNC of simcard but I cannot see any relevance, does anybody know how they are defined?)
I then check OEM.sin from F8331_3 UK_41.3.A.2.192-R9E. I can see no folders but just one modem.conf with entry <"hutch_uk_volte_vowifi">. I guess in my case I could flash OEM.sin from this firmware, then flash G8231_Customized NOBA_41.3.A.2.247-R9E (But exclude OEM.sin)? If this works I guess I will be stuck with crappy 3 UK branding?
I understand that If my device was rooted I could simply put the relevant modem.mbn files into /system/etc/customization/modem/ and I could then change /OEM/modem-config/modem.conf to "amss_fsg_keyaki_hutch_uk_volte_vowifi_tar.mbn". But I worry about DRM keys. Is there a way I could gain root access with BL locked through fasboot or flashmode via PC? I have the hutch_uk modem.mbn files ready if I could gain root access to SYSTEM, I can edit modem.conf if i gain root access to OEM.
Thanks guys, I posted here because it's not specific to XZs only, I just wish to learn some more about modem-conf system and how folder numberds are related to sim numbers etc. Any help would be appreciated. Best wishes !

[Request] Any Brazil open device user

Ok, this request is for ALL the 920h/925/925G users (anyone with an 850 UMTS band). We need ANYONE from brazil with a device that has or was going to update to the Brazil V20a to enter the following link and get us the bin format link back as the bin format firmware is what we need to get JUST the baseband. Elsewise we may need to flash the WHOLE firmware and bin flash downgrade to root and recovery partition. I'd rather not put more people through this headache....
Link:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/cs_auth_model_check.jsp?esn=[YOUR IMEI HERE PLEASE]
The link you are looking for is similar to this one.....
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/ezls/...IN_LGP925AT-00-V10e-310-410-AUG-10-2011+0.ZIP (this is the BIN firmware for AT&T's stock firmware.)
Thank you guys and remember, you're doing this not only for yourself, but for the community as well.
Note: We already have the kdz (http://csmg.lgmobile.com/swdata/WEBSW/LGP920H/ABRAML/V20a_00/V20A_00.kdz), we need the bin.
I tried to do it but I get only a blank screen on explorer and some information about my serial number and imei on Chrome. No links were there.
any guides so I can help?

Thank you.
I got the same result. If you explain how to put the URL together with the info I got, I can help you. Thanks.
That's my result:
LGP920H 6BRAML 109BSZD011069 20110912
are you try another browser? firefox? IE??
Using another browser won´t help, but the file is in fact a XML. Use view source to see it. It´s a list of fields and values. We just need to know how to use this info to build the BIN file URL.
It's being done right. With the information provided, I was able to try a few things, but I was not able to find Bin files, but only KDZ. I've also reached out to others in the community for possible outside the box root options. I'm not making any promises, but I'm resourcing. I'm sure we'll find a way.

[Q] Debrand Lumia 1020 ATT

I've been searching for months and I haven't found a way to debrand the Lumia 1020 from ATT.
The company locks features (like internet sharing, for example) , event if you unlock the phone...
Is it the lack of interest from hackers and developers, or is ATT really that strong at keeping us from debranding it?

See from page #54 with the assembly (DLL) modified if you are unable to flash, maybe this can help you (RM-877 > RM-877 or RM-875).

Thanks for the info Anaheim.
I downloaded your dll files, but from the edits on your post, you mention that the first modified dll (Nokia.CareSuite.PlugIns.MurzimRecovery.dll) caused problems, but did you revert back the first modified dll before replaceing the second (Nokia.Packages.VariantPackage.DataPackage20.dll) ?
also, your thread (on page 54) mentions modifying the vpl file. What is required to modify exactly?
I read around the thread and other forums as well and there are many ways poeple do it. Some even change two other files (the dcp and the bin file), while some only people change file names, and some people chage the content of the files
any help will be greatly appreciated
thanks

I tried with both DLLs at the same time, it did not work.
The flash procedure is performed from the VPL file (VPL file contains all the file names, for then flashed this files). It is a sort of "guide". VPL file is "signed by" the signature.bin file that contains his signature. It is useful to modified the VPL if you change / replace / etc some files.
I have not tried changing some file, because I have not had time.

Ok thx,
so I keep the original Nokia.CareSuite.PlugIns.MurzimRecovery.dll and only change Nokia.Packages.VariantPackage.DataPackage20.dll with the one you supplied.
I tried flashing the ROM with a country variant RM-875 from GB (with only Nokia.Packages.VariantPackage.DataPackage20.dll modified) but I still got the ffu error.
I will continue to work on it and keep you updated
thanks again

Guide me to flash Android Pie

Hi Guys,
Someone please guide me to flash Android Pie on my G8142. I have already downloaded G8142_Customized VN_1309-2181_47.2.A.0.306_R3C firmware via XperiFirm.
Note -
Locked BL
Currently on 47.1.A.16.20
Thanks in advanced.
Hi, frankly speaking, as your BL is blocked you should/can wait only some few days, it should come over the air very soon
Hi, I also have a locked bootloader, and its still locked after flashing the update using newflasher
all I did was download the VN firmware from xpericheck app that is integrated in flashtool application.
then I downloaded newflasher and it was a zip file, I extracted it, copied all files in it and pasted them in the same folder where the firmware files at, then ran newflasher, and thats it
I have Pie.
Did you delete any of the .TA files prior to flashing?
Hi @madshark2009,
can you provide me any guidelines to do it. I'm new to Sony.
@kw0n2k
No,all I did was simply flash using newflasher
@werty733
here is how i did it:
download xperifirm application:
https://softfamous.com/xperifirm-tool/
when you launch it, select Xperia XZ Premium (the dual one)
then you will get a bunch of fimrwares for different regions, simply select the VN region and it should show on the far right "latest update available" with a number of 47.2.A.0.306
download that to an empty folder of your choice
after download completed, download newflasher from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/progress-newflasher-xperia-command-line-t3619426
download v13, you will get a ZIP file, copy all files in the file to the same folder where you downloaded the firmware files.
then simply run newflasher from that folder, press n for the first option, and another n for the second option, then it should start doing the magic, after its done, youre set. hope that helped
@madshark2009 thanks, will try your method and update.
@madshark2009 sorry I meant, the new firmware files that you downloaded with xpirifirm, the .TA files in that. correct me if im wrong, but i thought you had to delete them prior to flashing as it might over ride your DRM keys.
@kw0n2k
I dont think so, because i checked my keys stats and they are all ok, no one answered me that officially so i cant give you a concrete answer but i dont think flashing an update resets your drm, we all have been doing it before, i have done it before on oreo and nougat so yah, but get a more officially approved answer from a dev here better for you not to do anything that could harm your device on my word alone
Cheers mate
@madshark2009 Yeah, I converted my G8142 to G8141 cause I couldnt get VolTE in Australia. From what i read, i was under the assumption that .TA files had to be deleted on the new firmware prior to flashing as to not lose your DRM keys. But if you've done it and everything's fine, happy days! I'll just flash normally without deleting any files from now on.
the good @munjeni have exclu .ta in the script no problem for flash with any problem
@madshark2009, it worked perfectly without any issues. but I'm very disappointed there is no Gestures.

Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G (SM-N976U1 Firmware)

I reside in Spain and was trying to find the Firmware to update my ATT Note10+ 5G (SM-N976U) and came across this website https://firmware.gem-flash.com to which I paid for the following files:
(1) COMBINATION_FAC_FAQ0_N976U1SQU3ATF1_FACFAC_CL18966390_QB32158047_REV00_user_mid_noship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
(2) N976U1SQU3ATF1_ENG_MODEM
I was hoping that the RAR files would contain the ODIN3 [BL/AP/CP/CSC/Home CSC/UserData] files but unfortunately it did not.
I would be most grateful if anyone can explain what the above files are for and if they are what I require to flash my phone and is there a program similar to ODIN that I would need to do so.
If necessary I can give access to the Gem Flash account from which the files can be downloaded and tested as it appears that the ''COMBINATION_FAC'' file is too large to upload here.
Thanks in advance for any assistance that may be offered.
Combination file is used to put the phone in factory(engineering mode), and the eng modem is just a modem extract from the combination file.
If you are not doing any hacks on the phone, those two files have no use

LOS carrier / modem configuration: How does it work?

Hi all,
I would like to gain a bit deeper understanding of how LOS is working in terms of actual phone function. I'm pretty sure that the following is only the tip of the iceberg, but with the stock ROM, for example on a Sony Z5C, there is a folder
/system/etc/customization/modem
that contains .mbn files for various providers and a folder
/system/priv-app/CarrierConfig
that contains a corresponding .apk file.
Now for example in LOS17.1, the first folder (or similar files) do not exist and the second one is called CarrierSetup with a corresponding .apk file. I assume the latter .apk is responsible for some sort of generic carrier configuration, but how does that work? Is it hard coded in the .apk, or is there some generic configuration file somewhere? And: How can I find out, what configuration is currently used and what bands are available?
Any helpful answers or references to further info are welcome!
Cheers,
r.
