error while searching for networks - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

Hi, I have an issue with my TMO Oneplus 8 IN2007, it dosent have signal, it recognize the sim card but when i tap in network operators, it give me this msg "error while searching for networks"
1. Tried different sims cards (The phone is recognizing the sim cards, but still giving me no signal).
2. I unlock my phone using the tmounlock app, try different companies sim card, and still didnt work
3. Convert to global and still no signal.
I have read something about TWRP and restoring the modem.img, do you think that will fix the issue ? or what else can I try ? ( Currently im using global version, and i have the bootloader unlocked )

"Invalid SIM card" issue

Hi, i've a problem with my htc one e8 sprint.
it's unlocked and until two days ago all works good.
Sunday morning i 'found' the message "Invalid SIM card. Contact Customer Care" and the GSM network works only for emergency call.
If i remove the sim the "no sim found" error was raised but when i insert it again the error change in "invalid sim card".
I try the SIM in another phone and it works. I also try another working sim in this phone but the same error is raised.
I try to flash another old backup images via TWRP (android 5 and android 4.4) but the error was the same.
i check the IMEI with imei.info app and it seems to be unlocked.
when i change the network Type in screen "Telephone Info" (reachable via *#*#4636#*#* code in dialer) nothing happens.
now i'm using the ViperOneM8 rom and it works good for 4 months.
any ideas?
may be the radio hardware defective?
thanks for all your help.
have a nice day.

hi,
the SIM seems to be locked again. the hardware is OK.
i solve the problem with the following steps:
1) backup current rom via TWRP.
2) reinstall the RUU version 2.32.651.11.
3) Unlock the sim again with the method in the thread named:
Getting SPC Unlocking SIM M9 SPRINT [NV]
found at :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/general/nv-unlock-sim-t3314755
it works with my HTC ONE E8 Sprint!
4) Flash again TWRP 3.0 and supersu via WinDroid 3.1
5) restore previous backup made in step 1
The only mystery is :
Why the SIM locks 'alone in the night' without 'strange' operations like flash kernel or some other apps?
hope this can help someone.
have a nice day.

No-service/Emergency call

Hi!
My dual-sim P20 (EML-L29)has an issue with sim. When I put (working ) sim to any slot the phone request pin, after I put it the phone starts but the carrier doesnt work. Instead of carrier name I have a cross with no-service/ emergency call only. If I do manual carrier search phone found it, however phone cannot connect to carrier due to "registration error". On the other hand, I put 2 sims simultaneously and one of them connected to carrier.
What I done
wipe cache
factory reset with wipe cache
downgrade from 9.1.0.311 to 9.0.0.280 with HiSuite
The phone shows two serial IMEI. Is it normal? I dont have experience with dual sim phones.
I suspect that the problem is caused by modem. If it is possible to flash modem separately? The bootloader is locked. Any other ideas and advice are appreciated.

Samsung Galaxy S10 (SM-G973F) doesn't register to network

I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy S10 (SM-G973F).
At first glance the phone was in excelent shape. The SIM Card was connecting to the mobile network, and calls, internet connection, etc was OK.
But then, I found out that the phone had been rooted. Probably, by the seller. In pannic, I rushed to unroot flashing the stock Rom.
Here what I did:
1- Forgot to check my precisly CSC code and assumed ZTA (cause I'm from Brazil, and the phone is from carrier "Claro")
2- Downloaded the stock rom using Frija
3- Using Odin 3.14.1 flashed the device.
The previous rooted system was on Android 10 and One UI 2.5. With this new rom went to Android 11 and One UI 3.0.
The problem:
The phone recognizes the SIM Card. But it simply doesn't connect to the network. When I try to make a call it says: " not registered on network"
The phone DO recgonizes the SIM Card. On the SIM Card Manager shows my carrier name (Vivo) and my phone number. Also, the SIM app is showing on the app list.
Things I tried:
Rebooting the phone
Changin the SIM Slot
Testing the SIM on another device to ensure it was working
Checked if the IMEI wasn't missing/undefined. It is not, the IMEI appears to be untouched
Checked if the IMEI had been blacklisted. It's not.
Flashed SEVERAL different stock ROMS with different CSC (ZTO, ZTA, ZVV)
Try to manually select the network. This also throws an error saying "error while searching for network"
I'm really desperate and don't know what to do anymore.
No one have a clue either? :C
Look inside here:
How to Fix 'Not Registered on Network' on Android
Here is how to fix 'Not Registered On Network' error on Android. Mostly error occurs on Samsung phones, but this solution works for all android phones.
www.android-recovery.net
Wow,
This is exactly like my S10 right now.
At first, all is good, the signal was great, all working well, except cant connect to samsung pass and samsung health because it was root.
then i brought to sellular shop service, to flash the phone.
Then, “not registered to network” happened. The signal ok, the phone able to read dual simcard, but “emergency call only” and if i try to search network manually, “error while searching for network”
And the sellular shop service have no idea how to fix after they reflashed and try to fix it for several days.
Have you found any solution to fix your pho?
pls advice…

So, were you able to find a solution for this problem? I also bought a Note 9 N960F/DS recently and found out it was actually a N960N model that was changed to N960F/DS. So I did exactly what you did, I flashed the original stock rom, N960N, but now phone will not connect to network. I also did hard reset, reflash other stock roms, nothing changed. Anybody with insight should please give us some pointers.

Visible SIM not recognized in rooted OP7 Pro unlocked

I checked my IMEI on Visible's website and it checked out. I am running the Android 11 Pixel Experience ROM and Google Fi SIM worked fine, but I cannot get the Visible SIM to even be recognized as existing in the tray. I tried both SIM slots. Does this have something to do with being rooted? Ironically I installed this SIM in my Poco F3 which is NOT compatible, and although I got no service, that phone did recognize the SIM and even all of the Verizon APNs. Just wondering if you guys have any thoughts? Thanks.

It shouldnt have anything to do with being rooted, but if you have converted/changed firmware then that could be the issue.
If you have the engineering mode app installed u can check the sim in *#808# or by adb shell am start com.oneplus.factorymode/.manualtest.SimCardTest . If the test fails then the modem or your efs is messed up.Hopfully you have a efs back up. Try starting over with MSM flash first.I believe the fail sim is caused buy a key that is in the locked sfs folder of the efs. I do know for a fact there is a RSUprivate key there also. And have obtained it. But still have not found a way to write this back, other then efs restore in twrp.
I'm guessing it is related to the ROM.

I'm on visible and I'm using an unlocked T-Mobile gm1915. When on the global rom, it gave me a pop up to instructions for using the verizon sim on a cdma-less device. However, I didn't have to do anything and the sim started randomly working after waiting 5-10 minutes. So, i recommend just leaving the sim in for atleast 10 min and have mobile data on.
