I have tried just about everything i can think of to make the phone be detected in fastboot, but nothing is working. The phone is detected through adb, but when i boot into fastboot and run fastboot devices, no devices are found. Device manager aslo says a code 28 error on the drivers for the device in fastboot, and i have looked all over for fastboot drivers and cannot find any. Im really stumped atm.
sucks you never got an answer to this having the same issue
Had this issue and disabling driver verification on my windows 11 laptop solved this. Hope this helps

I am using fastboot with the "Google USB Driver package, revision 4" from the Android SDK. The device is detected just fine when I am booted into fastboot but nothing is ever listed when I run "fastboot devices" from the command line.
I have tried this with my "Android Dev Phone 1" (I got it from ebay!) and my unlocked/rooted Droid Incredible. Both devices do have USB debugging enabled. Adb works just fine when the devices is booted up.
With the dev phone when I boot holding back/off I get the message "serial0". When I connect it to the computer it changes to "fastboot", as expected.
Any suggestions?
Anyone?
waiting device
I have similar problem here. Fastboot cant seem to detect any device plugged to usb. Tried installing all drivers from LG setup, got sdk and ran cmd promt, cd directory, then typed fastboot erase recovery. It just waits for the device. Is there anyone familiar with this prblem. Hope someone can help. THanks!
Hello,
trying to root a Nexus S but I have issues with the drivers.
Running "adb devices" properly shows my phone's serial number. However, when the phone is in fastboot mode, the "fastboot devices" command does not show anything and trying to run the unlock command gets stuck in a waiting loop.
I'm at a loss. I downloaded various driver archives and tried PDANet, with no success.
In Fastboot, the phone shows up as "Unknown device" in the device manager (Windows 7 64bit) with a yellow warning sign.
I tried to manually update the drivers and point Windows to the directories of the drivers I downloaded but it won't accept the drivers, insisting they are not compatible.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Dear all,
Please Help me. My One plus one is on CM12 official rom (rooted). Problem is when I connect my phone to computer and use ADB it is detected (adb devices: number & devices detected) but when in fastboot (fastboot devices : nothing is detected) I check in my device manager (yellow triangle on android ) My problem is why CAN it be detected when my phone is on but NOT during fastboot.
Necessary checks done : USB debugging, Universal driver, SDK installed, USB driver reinstalled again, tried changing usb ports on computer, tried on 2 laptops)
I am helpless, tried checking on forums can not find the answer.

Tried adb reboot bootloader then phone boots into fastboot mode but from here..
is total no connection. Tried checking fastboot devices (nothing), fastboot reboot (waiting)
then i tried as u said unplug & plug in (not recognize) from here adb cannot be written anymore. (no more commands can be typed). Tried others like down loading Pdanet ,force install driver..Nothing works. Thinking ,did I corupt the bootloader while I was rooting it last time.?
I think if something was wrong with bootloader you could not either boot .
Do you use antivirus to pc?
Try without antivirus
What happening the false is from computer
Mine is reverse issue. When in fastboot mode, pc recognizes OPO, but when OPO is normally connected to pc, adb is not working. Its charging and can transfer data through USB, but OPO is not recognized through adb commands. Device Manager too recognizes my OPO only when it is in fastboot mode and not when normally connected via USB for data transfer.
I have a software, through which I can REVERSE TETHER my PC's internet to my mobile via USB. Because my OPO is not recognized via USB in normal mode, I can't do that. Any idea, what's wrong with my OPO.
(I have installed Android SDK and google usb drivers, for my OPO to work in fastboot. I have rooted. My pc runs on win7)

I entered fastboot in my gionee F205 through ADB and entered the command 'fastboot continue' which I got a error FAILED (remote: not support on security).
So I tried to unlock OEM and did the same through fastboot. Now when I reboot my device it is stuck in a bootloop with a message 'orange state your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted your device will boot in 5 seconds'. It reboots again after that 5 secs.I have not yet rooted my devicee. Please help
Edit:
Okay, I solved it. The issue was solved when I removed all unnecessary VCOM drivers from my PC and mainly the MTK USB driver since it was the problem(I suppose). My phone was switching between the preloader driver and MTK USB driver and this was causing SP FLASH TOOLS to think my device disconnected, giving me the error(The flashing is happening only when the PC detects my phone as VCOM PRELOADER driver. So I uninstalled that driver and the problem was solved. I also had to plug my USB in at moment when my phone would be recognized as PRELOADER DRIVER in my pc.
So it is now well and running
Hint: Add Gionee F205 to this thread's title thus mainly owners of such device get addressed.
Hello I have a moto edge I had havoc on there and TWRP but I don't even really know what happened but I ended up bricking well not really bricked I can get in yo fastboot but the computer doesn't recognize the device I've switched cords computers tried every driver I can find I even went as far as to make my own edl cable to try to get it to edl more which one of the times playing with the edl cable i got it to say unknown device but haven't been able to since then if i boot to recovery it boot loops and same with just trying to boot I'm at a loss of what to try to do test points? To force edl? Please help
no need for EDL mode if you can still access fastboot. you can just install the drivers.
in fastboot mode format cache partition, that will fix TWRP boot-loop.
How to do that tho ?it doesn't recognize my device at all but it recognizes any other device I plug in
in device manager find the device with yellow triangle exclamation mark
Yeah no it's not there and when I can get it to make the noise it's from my home made edl Cable it says device descriptor error or something like that I'll look to see what it comes up as but I've installed drivers of uninstalled all the drivers I've got Qualcomm drivers I've got Motorola drivers I've got I've done all that or else I would have had it solved already I don't know what's going on with it and that's why I was asking about the edl test points because the computer won't read it whatsoever now it won't even get into fastboot but it won't get into edl neither I'm lost
try in linux lsusb (no virtual machine)
I had tried on Ubuntu with no luck it doesn't do anything at all now unless I edl Cable it and it says unknown USB device device descriptor request failed
does not sound like Ubuntu error message.
No that error is from windows I do not have access to my Ubuntu atm
