Device screen totally broken - How to factory reset - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi all,
my dog just tried my wifes G930F as chowing bone and destroyed the display.
It still seems to work properly since startup sound is there, lights etc working.
I want to sell it now as spare part device on ebay, therefore I would like to wipe data.
IIRC it should have TWRP on it as well as usb debugging enabled.
I tried to go into recovery (Vol Up + Power + Home), its making an USB sound, but adb shell is not recognizing the device.
Is there any option to wipe all data in this state? As named, there is no screen at all.
Thanks Christian

I just tried to enter download mode and flash latest TWRP (3.5) with ODIN (3.13) but i failed just with "FAIL".

hey,
btw you could always factory reset using the stock recovery and watch some videos and see how many presses you have to do to reset the phone. Can't help you now so best you can do is get a new screen and then daily it again.

What was your battery status before this happened? if it was really low that could be the issue.

will your computer detect your phone at all? maybe you can root it then flash a ROM and keep all of your stuff.
1. How could you do a factory reset if the phone wont start up?
2. Can you get it into bootloader mode by holding VolDown?
3. If so, can you enter recovery? (Reason for asking: on custom recoveries like Clockworkmod and I assume TWRP you can use adb from a computer, if this works in stock recovery it should be easy to pull any file from the sdcard partition)
4. Tried holding powerbutton for 10 or 30 seconds ( I forget...) to force reboot?
5. A battery pull might work, search youtube for "directfix htc one s" and youll find a video how to disconnect battery)
You can factory reset through HBOOT menu, if he can get into it.

1. From the bootloader menu.
2. Yes i can get into the bootloadermenu by holding the volume and powerbutton.
3. Can also enter recovery, in the same bootloader screen, but when i open recovery, i get the green icon with the two arrows arround, but after a while it pops up a red triangle, and after this the phone starts to boot again, with no sucess.
4. Tryed this with no sucess, reboot, but will not turn on.
5. Battery pull will not work on this htc.
I dont care if the phone dont turn on, i can send it to the repair shop, but i would very much like to get the pics out of it before set it to factorysettings, or i send itin for rep.
I have seen programs that can get back deleted pics from a hard drives or memory cards, do you guys think this will work if the phone turns on after i do a factory reset
Took a factory reset today, and downloaded a program to my pc to recover lost data from the phone, but it did not find anything But the phone looks ok now

Phone Crashed in Ultra Power Saving Mode - Now Won't Boot

Hi,
I have a Stock SM-G920F which as per the title was in Ultra Power Mode. I came back to the device and found it virtually unresponsive so pressed the power button which offered allowed me to reboot, which I did.
It then got stuck for ages on the "Starting Apps" screen - so I pressed Power and Vol Down to reboot the device - since then it will just stick on the animated samsung screen indefinitely.
I can get into both recovery and download mode. I've tried wiping cache and also tried flashing the same Stock Firmware via ODIN but to no avail.
Of possible interest, I've tried to get it to boot into bootloader but it doesn't seem to do anything - however I have noted from the forums that this may be typical.
Smart Switch never seems to properly see my device, should it do this at the Samsung Screen, Download Mode or Stock Recovery?
Ive tried doing an "Emergency Initialisation" from Smart Switch but that gives a message of something like not available.
I want to avoid doing a hard reset / wipe at this point if at all possible - even if its just to get in once to back things up / mount and dump off via USB etc. before then wiping and trying to see if any of what I dumped off can be salvaged.
If anyone has any ideas that may help - please let me know
Thanks
Would you have enabled usb debugging mode on your phone? If so you can easily pull your data on your phone. If not flashing stock rom via odin should bring it back to life. The only data you will lose is contacts, messages and any app data. Photos and any other data should be fine. Paste the result of your odin try here....
I think I do have usb debugging on I think. How can I pull the data / mount the device? Is it from download mode, recovery or the Samsung boot screen?
I did flash the latest btu via Odin. It reported it worked ok but it still just hangs at the Samsung screen. I've tried leaving 20mins or so. That's long enough right?
Thanks
ok update.
it did get into android for a bit. it was ultra power mode though.
The settings menu was very limited so all i could do was lug it into my surface and pull off every visible file. i managed to get into ADB however it wouldn't let me do a backup. I was able to run off a bug report and a few odd commands however I wasnt sure what I could do whilst i was in ultra power saving mode.
just in case i can get back into ADB at somepoint -
are there any commands to get me out of ultra mode?
are there any commands to pull up a full settings menu rather than the really limited one of like 5 things?
can i backup anything else in the states i can get to - call log, contacts sms?
ta all

Can you boot into Safe Mode ? : http://gadgetguideonline.com/galaxy...uides/how-to-use-samsung-galaxy-s6-safe-mode/
Turn off phone
HOLD Vol down and Power
Release Power at Samsung boot logo, keep Vol down pressed until the phone is completely booted
And turn off power saving mode ? : http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/493028-why-won-t-ultra-saving-mode-turn-off.html
Thanks Merken_
I was able to boot into safe mode. However from there, I could only disable safe mode, which forced a reboot that never worked.
Otherwise the settings are still just as limited and there is no launcher or anything.

[Completed] Device won't work, can't get into recovery mode

Hello, I have a big problem, I have a Plum Axe Plus 2, android 6.0, I wanted to root it so I unlocked the bootloader, (just that haven't root it yet), everything was working fine until I restarted the phone and it wouldn't pass from the logo screen, so I press volume down + power button and it appeared what I think is a virus (here is the video: youtube.com/watch?v=b18iDZZi0QA, I connect it to the PC and it recognize it, I could see the storage and everything so I manage to enter the recovery mode putting the adb reboot recovery command, I reset it and well I thought everything was fine now but when I power up the phone it stay on the logo again, I tried to enter the recovery mode but the same virus pop up, I connect it to PC and I still can access the storage but now it tells me that the device is unauthorized, so what can I do? how can I get rid of that virus ? please help me, I can't afford to buy a new phone.
Update: I manage to enter the recovery mode from the fastboot menu, so I could reset the phone again, but I don't even dare to power it off or restart in fear the same happens again, what should I do?
Hi !
Perform a factory reset , any virus you`ve got , though I doubt about it , will be erased

black screen after splash and unable to factory reset, possibly frp?

Apologies for formatting, typing up on my phone during my break at work.
To be more specific, I have a samsung a51 that recently had a black screen of death with no known cause. The samsung splash screen as well as the recovery menus alll work correctly however once it boots past those, including when attempting "recovery mode" the screen turns off. Given time to finish booting the buttons work, and if a keyboard with OTGis plugged in I can move through some of the menu's (such as holding power buttons to brind up power menu and using keyboard to select options).
I have attempted a factory reset via recovery menu with no success as well as using ODIN to flash the stock software. ODIN does say it completes but won't succeed when attempting to downgrade to the previous version of android.
I am unable to get the phone set to usb debugging (even using a keyboard with OTG cable, I have another working a51 and figure out exactly how to do it without the screen).
My thoughts are that it is software related and that I either need to:
a. somehow bypass the frp lock and attempt a restore
b. bypass the frp lock and downgrade to a previous android version for the phone.
The only other thing i am seeing is a binary menu that on some phones boot to after restoring in the recovery menu and restarting however I am either not seeing this or it doesn't have it.
Would appreciate any help i can get on this brick wall i'm hitting. HALP!

Need help with my Google FRP locked [non-rooted] LGL455DL

I made the mistake of Factory Resetting my phone after a few failed attempts at remembering the Pattern to unlock the phone, in doing so I ended up being stuck in the set-up process because I forgot the Google account I was logged into on it before the Factory Reset, had been an account I just quickly made on the spot months ago just to set up an app on it. I'm posting here for help with this since I'm on day 4 of trying to find a way to bypass this and my head is ready to explode. I feel like someone with a fresh mind would be able to point me in the right direction.
If anyone can let me know if I'm doing something wrong or missing some steps that will help me try any one of these, or honestly any advice at all... I'd very much appreciate it and it'd help relieve a huge chunk of this ridiculous headache this has all been.
Thanks in advance!
What I've tried thus far --
- I know for most ways around this, USB debugging needs to be enabled. But since I cannot get past the initial set-up process, I can't access the settings to enable it.
- I also know that for a lot of Android devices USB debugging is enabled by default in Recovery Mode but everywhere I've searched for the hardware combination to boot into Recovery/Download mode, all say the same thing:
Turn phone off > Power up with Vol. Down + Power button until 'Download Mode' is displayed (for boot into Download mode, while holding Vol. Down + Power button plug OTG cable into device)
- My problem with this is that on my device, Vol. Down + Power button, restarts the phone. So instead of 'Download Mode', I'm just restarting the phone over and over again. I was able to get my phone to boot into was Safe mode using the Power button + Side button.
- I've also tried getting around this through a series of steps which involved the 'TalkBack' accessibility feature, but when I try toggling to enable it I just get a message saying "Complete setup first to continue"
From there --
I started looking up Stock ROMs that I'd be able to just flash the firmware. But for the life of me, I cannot seem to find anything for this device. And this is where I'm pretty much at now.
To remove FRP lock you boot into phone's Recovery mode and apply
1. Wipe data
2. Factory Reset
Every Android device gets shipped by default with Android Recovery.

I can't get my device to boot into Recovery mode. Everywhere I look up, it tells me to Power off device, then Press Vol. Down + Power key until the menu appears. But on my device, all that combination does is force the phone to restart.
