Hi guys, So how I can install this ?
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-q-gsi-project-treble/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
I don't know if unmodified gsi will work for us, as treble requirements have been changed since our phone shipped. May be possible to modify but that is for smarter people than me. Google is apparently doing beta program again probably starting with beta 3 so maybe better to wait for that

Ok we'll see if it's possible , if I know something I'll Post it here .
Thanks
It boots but lots of bugs and not usable at the moment for our phone. Google's version doesn't work you have to use efrans version. If you want to keep up with it here's the telegram link.

Thanks anyway, can you say something when it will be usable :fingers-crossed:
Sure
I have been trying to install the official android 10 gsi on my mix 2s: https://developer.android.com/topic/generic-system-image/
Flashed the rom but the phone just bootlooped, after going through the initial instructions more carefully, turns out this phone is not fully VNDK (Vendor Native Development Kit) compliant.
My question is, what does this mean for the phone? Can't say I understand it well, but would Xiaomi have to make an updated Android 10 vendor partition? Are there some devs who can make it VNDK compliant, and its only a matter of time? Is this VNDK built into any custom Android 10 rom that will be made for this device in the future?
That would be interesting if it actually booted.
Not sure that this VNDK compliant is which you are refering

I attached a screenshot of the section I'm talking about, the output for the Mix 2S for "namespace.default.isolated" is "false."
Also I found that Xiaomi plans to update this device to MIUI 11 (Android 10) sometime between now and the end of the year, so that should update the vendor software and make this GSI able to boot. :fingers-crossed:
Do not try to install for now. I've already installed and for some reason I don't know, my phone always crashed so I have to reboot it.....:crying:

Our devices didn't ship with android 9.0 so I doubt they would be "VNDK", unless xiaomi choose to do this(doubt it tbh, wish but doubt) in our phones. We have no luck unless they(xiaomi) provides an update for android 10

I'd prefer if we were independent from xiaomi. I mean if xiaomi stop providing new versions I'd prefer if devs don't need weird workarounds

Yeah that was half my reason for buying a new phone. I thought treble would be the solution to indefinite independent updates, but I guess not quite :crying:

Well only if google forces companies to fully comply with treble we might get lucky. It would be nice to not depend entirely on Xiaomi
Update: DO NOT TRY TO PAY!!! THE GUIDE IS BADLY OUTDATED. JUST USE THE RESOURCES AND FREE METHODS.
If you want to try the paid method, you should definitely get in touch with the seller first. I don't know whether the previous sellers are active or not.
If you want to inform me of something important, please `@me`, (I missed many replies in the past years)

There seems to exist a new method: It is said to work on Qualcomm devices.
First, dump frp partion, then edit the value to 1 at 7fff0, finally, flash the modified frp image. then you can use fastboot command to unlock your phone.
This new method shall work for for ODM devices like 16T, 16x, 16xs and Note9 and so on. see FRP Method.
Below is the original post:
The original post has been removed, since it's outdated and I almost finished the English version tutorial on Github.
You can see it on github.
BTW, it's really difficult to use XDA's text editor.
You can download the TWRP of 16s here
it's a start, is there anyone who has already tried a gsi?
Good news for us Meizu users! Hope this is just a first step towards some good modding ?
Will this also work on Meizu Note 9?

A new method has been released on 4pda, which supports almost all MEIZU devices using Qualcomm Proccessor. This is the original link 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=961552&st=960#entry90949224

I tried MIUI 11 and Flyme 8 , almost everything does not work on MIUI 11, it can boot into system, but the launcher doesn't work. Almost everything works fine on Flyme, except Bluetooth and Camera
I will try to rewrite an English version
The Chinese version has been moved to wiki, I'm planning to rewrite an English version similar to the Chinese version.

Sure, the new method applies to almost all devices, all versions. You can have a look at my github repository. I will edit the original post as soon as I can post links. BTW, is there any netdisk you guys use frequently? I don't know where to put the TWRP so that you can download easily.

You can use yandex.disk or google drive.
But you say about downgrade. Does the new method ignore the firmware version ?

yes, the new method applies to almost all versions, I have not updated the original post, because I have not prepared the English Version well on Github. You can have a look at github.com/sukanka/MEIZU16S_unlock_tutorial/wiki/Guide-to-Unlock-Your-MEIZU-Device
A new tutorial has been released on github
I must post in this way, as I'm not allowed to post links now. The Tutorial is at

There seems to be custom ROMs for MEIZU 16th, I've seen Lineage, havoc, and mokee before. But i don't know how do these ROMs work. Anyway, I use 16s, not 16th. Besides, I don't know how to add a new phone category.
BTW, it's said that the kernel source of the 16 series will be released, maybe next year. And there are plans to upgrade the Android version of the 16 series.

You try another gsi rom? I want try pixel gsi or havoc, but I don't think was supported at 100%, probably lost taptic engine and other features... If have problems with this gsi and I want reinstall flyme stable, will be a problem?

No problem. If your phone becomes a brick, you can follow the unbrick tutorial to save your phone. But you are suggested to have glance at the tutorial before you go.
As reported by others, fingerprint and Mengine (taptic engine) don't work.
I am on havoc 2.9. Fingerprint mengine and mtp not work. But other features work fine

Hope this is a good place to ask. I had to get the old Oneplus 7 pro back and Renovate ICE is pretty much dead. I'm not sure if I want to go all the way to Android 12, since I think Oneplus only had it up to 11. On the downloads for Lineage OS though, they only go back to version(s) 19.x which is Android 12.
Help a brother out anybody?
Thanks.

Lineage OS 20, based on Android 13, was only released last month. Give it some time.
Thanks for the reply, but I am asking for an older version that the link(s) for which no longer exist, that I can find.

An older version of what?
I'm looking for version 18.x of Lineage OS which is based upon Andriod 11. It is a custom ROM for the Oneplus 7 pro.

Yes, it looks like they now only support 19.1 and 20 on that device. All 18.1 links are dead.

Part of the reason people install custom ROMs is to extend the support for their device.

True, but without an actual working stock ROM with the actual Android version you want to build for the device, you can no longer extract the /vendor files which leads to some things not working properly. So it's, "Hey look, I've got a version of Android on this phone you won't" with the qualifier "And everything works." Meaning it is a port. I've been using customer ROMS on all my Android phones for about 12 years or so now started with the Droid A855. Hell I used to flash different firmware on the old flip phones before.
And the whole reason for this thread is what you said. There appears to be no links for version earlier than 19.x, so I asked hopping that maybe someone had one laying around they could share or knew of a mirror or other link. I used to save and host lots and lots of ROMs on my personal server and used to link those repositories in my sig here and many other places.
So thank you for your replies.
Hi! Has anyone tried to flash a GSI rom on Xiaomi 13? If yes how does it work?
Thanks in advance
Currently there is no GSI working on this model AFAIK. Wait for device specific ports instead.

EDIT: This is not true. See the replies below.

Nope, I don't install gsi rom on my devices.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/2 ARM64(V9) - X86.
GSI on Xiaomi 12 Pro
after testing several Treble GSis, I finally found CherishOS. Most of them are not booting, or other issues (no mobile data, only calling, settings are crashing,....). Save your time and choose CherishOS. How I flashed it: 1. clean flash...

I am using Project elixir for almost 2 weeks now. So far so good.
I suggest you dont flash it but instead usi it via DSU. Autobrightness is not working, fingerprint too. There are gcam ports wich are also compatible with our device. Battery life is better than miui. Even adding a card to google wallet works fine, until a reboot.

You shouldve just used google to understand better. But basically its a subsystem method wich was implemented to allow a/b partition devices to be able to run gsis' for testing purposes, without the need of flashing and deleting the original os. Think of it as dualboot for android. The only thing is that if you're using it via dev settings, you dont have the choice of selecting what to boot, but your device will directly download google's official gsi (wich is not very functional and its ugly).
Thats why you just need to download the DSU Sideloader app from PlayStore. The app will do everything with a gsi of your choice if you follow the instructions.
The only thing wich is mandatory is that the BL of your device must be unlocked in order to use dsu.
There are videos on YT showing this. If you want to try the gsi I mentioned, download it from their website.

No problem, I dont mind explaining, but there are pretty detailed articles, wich may enlighten you better than I can do it. Anyways, if/when you try it you'll really understand how much MIUI is ruining the experience of that pretty device. I was thinking about selling it 3 days after i got it, only because of that deprecated UI with stupid restrictions. I'm really glad i searched and tried stuff. Good luck!
