[MX Player Pro] Some questions not in FAQs - MX Player

What type of data do you collect with MX Player Pro? (I am not asking about MX Player/Beta, only premium version).
Why there is no separate Privacy Policy for Pro version?
Do you place cookies even for the Pro version?
What is the need of having Google Tag Manager and Google AdMob. Particularly AdMob, when no ads are placed what's the need of having this?
Create a separate Privacy Policy for Pro version and specify what types of you collect.
There is no reason to have cookies (if you are placing) for Pro version and also no need to track personal identifiers (or having tracking code).
When you are using Google Play license check what is the need for you to Read identifiers and Read installed applications? Also having Analytics and tracking inside a premium app is unimaginable.
Of-course you can say Reading Identifiers is need for app that is purchased from website but you have a different way of verification for Play Store right.
Clear these doubts for Pro version.

[Q] use other in app purchase system than google play

Hey,
I have a question regarding to in app purchase system.
The google developer program policy says about in app purchase:
"Paid and Free Applications
• App purchases: Developers charging for applications and downloads from Google Play must do so by using Google Play's payment system.
• In-app purchases: Developers offering additional content, services or functionality within an application downloaded from Google Play must use Google Play's payment system as the method of payment, except:
o where payment is primarily for physical goods or services (e.g. buying movie tickets; e.g. buying a publication where the price also includes a hard copy subscription); or
o where payment is for digital content or goods that may be consumed outside of the application itself (e.g. buying songs that can be played on other music players)
Developers must not mislead users about the applications they are selling nor about any in-app services, goods, content or functionality they are selling."
The sentence I mark in red says that if I as owner of application, sell a package of notification with some information that the user need another app or program to actually use the information I can use another in app purchase system (i.e. paypal).
My question is:
Is the sentence in blue right?
Thanks in advance,
Shalom Melamed

Missing Support

I have emailed mxtech support twice in the past week regarding my purchase of MX Player Pro from the Google Play Store. Nobody has replied to me.
I have included my order details, transaction ID and email address in the mails.
I would like my non-Google Play version of MX Player Pro .apk file please. I have paid for the product and am unable to use it due to "The purchase history of this product cannot be found" error.
I do not have Google Play Services and as such, I require my purchased installation to not require me to have Google Play Services installed.
* Direct contact to mxtech support has resulted in no response whatsoever so, I now write here in this public forum in hope that someone else might not ignore it.
I can, and have, provide my purchase details with receipt on request.
Thank you.

Hi,
Have you purchased through Google Play?
If yes, then there is no way to use it on a device with non-Google Play devices.
Google Play license validation needs Google Play & Google Play services.
If you have purchased through our website, then there is no need of Google Play Services.
It will work any android device except amazon & blackberry devices (due to their modification on the original account management system.)
I know that the Google Play version won't work on my device, this is why I am asking for you to transfer my licence from the Play Store version to a downloadable version from your site.
For example, in the case of Nova Launcher from TeslaCoilSW, I emailed support with my Google Play purchase details, transaction ID and bank details used, they were more than happy to supply me with an alternative method of installation from their website upon proof of the above.
People understand that users who have already paid for the product can not, and should not have to, rely on a third party app store to use their legitimately purchased product.
I can provide you all of my purchase details and would like you to transfer my licence.
Thank you.

I have sent a reply to your email.
Kindly go through it & get back to us.

why is mxplayer PRO contacting facebook ??

I recently installed a firewall on my phone, mostly to block all the annoying, not relevant ads.
To my surprise, my mxplayer PRO is
- contacting Facebook, while playing a video from my local phone / LAN.
Why is it doing that ?
it also accesses compute instances on Amazon AWS.
Why is it doing that ?
Furthermore, when I block access to facebook and aws, mxplayer keeps working happily.
Did you request my permission again, as is necessary since the coming into force of GDPR / EU rules ??
(I do not remember that)
Is the data you want to collect lawful and necessary, in compliance with GDPR, for the business you have with me ?
awaiting your answers,
Due

Can someone point me to more information about what "trackers" & tracker "classes" are?

Can someone point me to more information about what "trackers" & tracker "classes" are?
For example, using the best FOSS App Manager I know of, the Microsoft Link-to-Windows app shown in my annotated screenshot below happened to have 6 trackers with 632 classes.
NOTE: I could have picked almost ANY app to show it has trackers & classes so this question has nothing directly to do with THAT app.
While I avoid Microsoft/Google/Apple/etc motherships as much as I can, I don't understand what "trackers" and "tracker classes" are yet, so I don't know how to best avoid them (nor why I might want to).
Note: The name alone sounds ominous, but that's just a name.
What are trackers & tracker classes doing on our Android phones?
Where can I find more information out about the ramifications of apps with trackers?
Does the Aurora Store FOSS Google Play Store repo client have a hidden option to filter out apps with trackers yet?

What are the security ramifications of changing your GSFID to foil fingerprinting?

What are the security ramifications of changing your GSFID to foil fingerprinting?
After much googling and multiple failures, I have finally managed to change my supposedly permanent GSF ID (Google services framework ID) without needing to be rooted (and without having to factory reset the phone) specifically so that my phone is less vulnerable to malicious fingerprinting.
Given I realize almost nobody knows how to change the GSF-ID (it took me hours to figure it out but only minutes to perform), and even easier to display the results... hence I would like to ask the experts in this Security Discussion forum what the ramifications are.
Specifically what I don't know is why this unique ID (which uniquely identifies your phone!) isn't supposed to be changed, nor do I know what any given apps are doing with it - but I do know that it's super freaking important to Android (I can give gory details what happens if/when you change it for example).
It seems only "some" apps (those linked with GSF API's perhaps?) use this supposedly permanent personal tracking ID to watch your activities; but maybe they all do for all I know (do YOU know?).
I'd like to ask for MORE INFORMATION about how the GSF ID (and perhaps the Android ID too) are used by Android & by apps, but there's almost nothing out there on the Internet about them (ask me how I know this).
Give it's clearly a fingerprinting issue... can someone here give me more information about the ramifications of keeping/changing/deleting the GSF ID?
Thanks!

As a possibly directly-related datapoint, I found this revealing sentence in this thread:
Sentence: "Changing your Android ID is akin to doing a factory reset (at least as far as Google Play is concerned. It has no effect on your

The question I need to ask (find out) is whether or not any apps have an Android ID permanently (or temporarily) associated with them.
Do they?

I think starting from Android 10, each app installed has a unique permanent Android id generated on installation which I think change after uninstalling the app and reinstall. Correct me if I'm wrong.
