Can someone give me a general idea of how to restore a lost Sprint baseband? I have a working phone the same model as the broken one, with root access, DIAG and MSL. I have tried modifying and restoring the QCL, and copying the partitions of the working phone, but nothing works. I can restore the IMEI and MEID numbers, but it won't recognize the SIM card and DFS
shows much missing information. I tried copying the NV files but that doesn't work either.
The phone is an unusual model. I have seen guides to restoring specific phones but I need something more general.
Please help
so, the problem is that you have lost it.
you can use z3x without box version to recover imei { your original } and patch certificate to get baseband and sim working.
if you need video tutorial search on youtube. thanks.

Thanks, dude. But as far as I can tell, z3x without box is only for Samsung devices.
can you please tell me your phone model and processor.
because if it it MTK then fix is very easy through engineering mode.
if it is qualcomm then fix might be complicated
if its samsung or lg then fix is z3x without box.
i am also learning, so pardon me if i asked any silly things,

It's a Sonim with a Qualcomm 8909 chip. But listen, I'm not exactly a newbie. Please don't give me simplistic answers. I believe what I've been working on is generally the way to go, I just need to figure out which part to do in what order

Hi. I'm lost. I've bricked my freshly purchased H950 because of being in haste to update the firmware to 5.1.1. I've accidentally installed a H955 KDZ over my stock 5.0.1 AT&T H950 firmware. As expected, the device is bricked (everything works except the cell network). I've tried everything, spent about 8 hours with no result. Can't root it as well.
The IMEI and Baseband status is "Unknown" (lost EFS partitions).
Please, if it;s possible, give me an advice how to restore it to its original ATT firmware. I know that ATT hasn't published the TOT file of their firmware. Maybe I could restore it using someone's backed up files?
I'm outside of the US for the next 7 months so I won't be able to return it
Please help me, this is urgent.

Well the good new is that your cell phone works so it is not brick. Cell network probably doesnt work because H955 use different bands than H950. I dont think you will be able to go back to ATT rom because like you mentioned there is no kdz for it. But on the bright side you can try to use the H950PR KDZ to flash your cell. this is totally compatible with the H950 from ATT. You can always wait for the someone more knowledgeable to answer but I am almost sure that it should work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/kdz-compatible-att-h950-t3180847
I've installed the h950pr and there the cell network is still not working
In case if i find a person who has a similar device with Att firmware, how can i make a backup of it in order to flash my device?
I've managed to root my semi-bricked H950. But the imei and baseband version are still unknown. What should I do?
baseband ok. just the imei has 0 value. help please

follow THIS guide and you should be ok.
Use your own imei embedded in the back of the phone or the original box.

Check your PM.
Does anybody know how to write IMEI on the H950 without octopus box? Can't do it in QPST, DFS, EFS pro because it sn't recognized as a phone / doesn't answer.
Everything works, I can even make calls, just the imei value is 0.
Finally I did it!!!

Yeah. I used QPST. I had to open cmd, enter "adb shell", then " su", then "echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/lg_diag_cmd/diag_enable". After that you can backup Nv via QPST.
Im glad you informed yourself and solved your own issue. ?
Hi guys!
Yesterday my firmware update went terribly wrong and now I have a device that states that imei and baseband are unknown, so I my both sim-cards don't work.
I've tried several types of IMEI restoration, but none of them worked.
Unfortunately I don't have any backup for nvram. So, my guess is that there is a problem with EFS partition on the phone.
In QPST NV RF Manager I see my real IMEI from the box, so I guess it is still present, but my baseband doesn't work. Can you please suggest any help on recovering the baseband? Or if it is possible share with me modem backup or nvram backup without IMEI (I've seen on this forum that one guy with Samsung S3 had a kind of the same problem and he was given a working nvram backup without IMEI (IMEI was 0/00)) I can write my IMEI then, if baseband works again. Will appreciate any help.
Send it back. Only the oem is legally able to mess with the IMEI.

Well... I have managed to make it work again and my original IMEI is back. The only thing I had to do is to restore a working NVRAM backup (from another device) via QPST. So, it wasn't that hard. Much simpler than sending it back to China.

If you restored the file from another device then it won't have the right IMEI.

It HAS right IMEI, I checked it with the original box. No need to put up an argument about it. Both devices (mine and the one which was backupped and restored from) are working fine, bot have ORIGINAL IMEI numbers and no errors considering networks or MI accounts. So, actually I have no idea what you are trying to tell me.

I'm not making an argument. I'm trying to figure out how a number which is supposed to be hard coded into the file is then restored by restoring the files from a different device.
As these devices are not sold in the states learning as much as possible is a good thing.
Glad you got it working.

Okay, sorry. I will try to make it a bit clearer=) This device is not sold in Russia either (officially at least), so the only way to get it is to buy from aliexpress or ebay or anything else. In that case the buyer doesn't get any guarantee or official support. So if the device is broken and can't be restored it turns into a garbage. I believe that in the US the situation with that kind of devices is almost the same.
Now, if You are not familiar with QPST it is a software package for qualcomm based devices which can make backup/restore of some non-firmware software from the device (like IMEI, ESN, Baseband, LTE Channels etc). As for IMEI number, basically, as You've said it is hard coded into device so it is pretty hard to get it changed or fully deleted. Here we come to my case of unknown Baseband and IMEI. Though via phone settings I could see: "Unknown", my IMEI didn't change and was stored in the device. The "error" or smth like that happened after the factory reset and my guess is that the file structure of NVRAM was changed. So, backup of NVRAM taken from the working device didn't actually have IMEI or ESN in it, but it has the right file structure without any errors. That is what happened, the file structure was restored without changing any factory numbers.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask

It is almost the same with a few exceptions. One being that their devices are banned from all people that work for the government, sometimes they get stopped at customs due to copyright issues and with the latest news about them coming loaded with malware, most won't buy them.
That makes sense in a way. Not sure why a factory reset would mess up that part of the device as it shouldn't touch it.
Thanks for the info.

Hi! Have you tried flashing China developer rom with Miflash?
Second option: Connect to your PC and run QPST according to one of the manuals (in order for your phone to show up as a COM), run RF NV Manager and look up your line 550 NV_IMEI if it is filled with numbers that are the same as on your box (check HEX above them and numbers should resemble yours from box but written in opposite direction, eg: on the box it is XXXX69XXXXX in the QPST it will be 96). So, if your IMEI is at its place than all you need is a working device from someone to make a backup. Backup must be made in newer versions of QPST in *.xqcn format and than restored to your phone with checked box "allow ESN mismatch"

There is a thread in official forum where one guy shares qcn backup. There is also an instruction to restore IMEI and baseband. But It doesn't help for me. Network still unavailable.
I need help. I happen to get my hands on a note 7 sm-n930x live demo unit here in Denver, CO, USA
SM-N930X UD
S/N RF8H71JQGFD
64GB
Exynos 8890 SoC
4x Exynos M1 @ 2.3 GHz
4x Cortex A53 @ 1.6 GHz
Mali T880MP12 GPU
I had it running by flashing a sm-n930f firmware to it, which I understand is the same phone. I then attempted to flash the hydra rom and now I can only access download mode and it stays on the "Hydra Rom N7" splash screen. I dont remember the original phone info because the paper it was written got tossed out. To further my string of bad luck the SD that stored the NAND got corrupted.
I've tried to wipe everything via PIT and reinstall the 930f firmware, but it always fails. Sometimes it fails immediately and other times it actually starts installing for a moment and then fails. I've tried to install Hyrdra again and it fails. I've repartitioned in an attempt to wipe it without success. Info on the 930x version is hard to come by as I've come to find out. Today I finally found the fw listed below is the stock firmware for the international version, but the only downloads I can find are in a foreign language and want me to pay for it which I don't trust at all. At least I think these are the stock for the 930x, please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm not sure of the baseband because someone threw away the paper I had written it on or the imei # which is all zeros with a one on the end now . How can I fix the loop and get it working again? Is it failing because I can't wipe the cache through recovery and it's too much overwriting at this point? Since this is the "x" international variant, is it accepting of any of the exynos roms? Does anyone have access to the firmware versions below that they could share with me or clue me in as to where I can find the downloads myself?
My goal is to get the Note 7 working again with hydra, or any other rom. I just need it to work and be able to use it on my carrier which is currently at&t. I may have tried to flash the wrong ROM, the efs could be missing, andi know the imei is gone. It is probably safe to assume all are true.
Do I need to repair the imei before it will accept an install? If so, how would you suggest? I have QFIL, QPST, SPC but am unsure exactly how to utilize with great affect as I'm still teaching myself or if they are the correct programs that I need in order to remedy my situation. I'm no pro but I'm not a newbie either. I'm great at following detailed, precise instructions so please guide me to resurrecting my Note 7. I'm not sure what happened but I know I can fix it with a little assistance. All guidance and suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Cheers

If you have the box the device came in, the IMEI should be on the box somewhere.
If you had it activated on a network, that network should have the IMEI for that device in their system.
If all you need is the IMEI to file a claim on the device then getting the IMEI from the box or from your network support team might be enough. If so, it won't require dealing with the technical issues involved with trying to restore a corrupted IMEI.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE
also if he would instead have taken a device without (or at least with a lot less) planned obsolescence (aka. if he would have a device with a battery you can take out) the IMEI would iirc be on a label below it.
My grandson kindly bought me the phone in the title

Please help, as it is my only phone. + There is no Repair Center in my Local Area in a 80 km radius. Phone doesn't even go in Meta Mode, No Baseband, No IMEI, In Aftersales tool, Ap disconnect error (img attached), So there is hypothetically for my idiotic brain, no more ideas on what to try and how to fix my only phone.
