Tested on the tablet and it actually works with skydrive. No problem making a note with image and sync it.
One problem: It does not support handwritten notes from my win 7 tablet.
missing so many features
- Does not show handwritten notes.
- Notes made only go to personal web folder and not in the folder that i make a new one
- Selecting fonts and stuff like that are missing
- cannot add files
- no handwritten notes possible.
- Very very basic and disappointed.
I just need textnotes, so that's okay for me. I only need enumeration for hierarchical organization of the text.
I only work on a limited number of projects, so o don't necessarily need to be able to add files on the device, though this option would be nice.
Project notebooks wich i share with skydrive are perfectly synchronized both ways.
This app boosts my productivity ! So I'm kinda satisfied.

One of the main reasons for getting this tablet for most would be to make use of the s pen.
This is a short review of the note apps that make use of both handwritten and typed notes.
1. Samsung apps - snote and smemo .. really good apps and lots of editing options... Its default and I am sure every one knows about it
2. I have both lecture notes ( paid) and freenote( donate version ) .
Both are good but I like freenote more as it offers more editing options and easy to make quick notes.
Both devs are very responsive to requests..
3. If you use evernote, it has an association with skitch. Works well but very limited editing options...
4. Onenote - Best note application ever.. Nothing can beat it but in android it not well implemented yet...
In android i use onenote from microsoft and mobilenoter . Both these onenote applications needs more updates.
Onenote from Microsoft app - you will a internet connection all the time to get it working smooth... Offline access is kind of limited. No handwritten notes.
Mobilenoter is expensive but give more options to editing and viewing notes. It was terrible with handwritten notes. With the recent mobilenoter updates ( in the past few weeks) it looks much more promising. Again editing options of individual notes are very limited.
(If you ask me one app that i want in my tablet, it would be a fully working version of onenote)

Is it possible to take a whole page of notes using handwriting on the Note 10.1 and then convert to text?
May be a dumb question but I'm thinking if I take lots of notes at a meeting then I would like to be able to convert them to a document.

I am exactly in the same boat. In a meeting last week I took 13 pages of notes using S-Note. I can export them to PDF but thats about it. Mobilenoter seems to be the best thing to bet on. But the reviews seem to be very negative. I don't have a problem maintaining a live account with only onenote 2010 notebooks, so if they fix their handwriting issues I'll be a customer!

If you. want to send the notes as text from S-note, use the share via option as opposed to export,however you will not be able to send drawings.
If you want to write in your own handwriting, there is an app called 7notes on Google play that will let you take notes and convert them later into text. The app has really good handwriting recognition too if you want the notes converted on the fly.
Look for Supernote ..its made by Asus and is similar to freenote in that you can handwrite anywhere and moves it to the top. Link...... http://www.everbot.com/files/Asus_Supernote_v_1.4.apk
I also use 7notes. My HW is horrific and it does a great job of converting it. You can use it anywhere, in pretty much any app that uses a keyboard.

I have the new Samsung galaxy note 10.1 and it just came with the Snote and not the Smemo. Can you tell me or have a link to get the Smemo app?

S memo has been replaced with S Note, you can bring up the mini app version by clicking the small arrow on your status bar at the bottom to make a quick note.
I will Quill and Papyrus from the market. They both provide vector based pdf output.

Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but i use foldersync lite, with my drop box, to backup and sync my notes. I currently use lecture notes and have the folder with my notes synced every 2 hours.
Just an idea for you.
Did you do the schedule from within LN or using an external app?

Probably not in the way you are thinking. They are png's so they should be editable, but it wouldn't be a clean solution.

I used an external app to schedule it. the external app is foldersync lite.

Dropsync is the tool I use for autosyncing. Also LectureNotes allows export and import via .pdf, so if you can edit .pdfs you're food. Finally, Lecturenotea can export direct to Evernote.
I haven't seen it mentioned here but I like it more than Lecture Notes - Writepad Stylus works great with S Pen (and I prefer setting the pen in it to be the only input - you can do that in settings).
I quit using WS when Quill came out. I use Quill for vector and LN for all else. The LN dev rocks big dog. Working on keyboard and jpg/png image for background. Really pleased.

+1 on Freenote. I've tried LectureNotes, Quill, AntiPaper, PhatPad, and some others. Freenote offers a lot more flexibility in including ink, typed text, pics, paint, links, tags, "To Do" lists, ink calendar tracking, etc. It is the closest app to OneNote I've found on Android. I think its biggest liabilities are that the GUI is not "sexy" -- it looks clunky-- and that the range of options and tools make it confusing to figure out. Steep learning curve. But if you want to switch instantly between ink/text/images/paint, etc., I don't think it has any competition.
Best Freenote feature: The writing panel for inking. It lets me handwrite in large exaggerated strokes at the bottom of the page, which it inserts as scaled smaller ink in a straight line elsewhere on the page, and which it is smart enough to auto-wrap to the next line at the page margin. 7Notes/Mazec offers a similar feature, but I find it to be a bit more clunky since I have to hit "enter" at the end of each line before it inserts.

I too consider this to be the 'holy grail' of app features, but it is sorely lacking. I found a work-around that lets me ink on my GNote in a Word doc via Polaris, and also ink the same doc on my tablet PC via Dropbox. But to be honest, the "inking" experience I show via Polaris is so limited (very few features beyond changing ink thickness) that I have largely stuck with Freenote.

Trans device inking is a big thing and unfortunately none of the apps support it well..
However, mobilenoter which was a terrible app before, has changed a lot especially with the most recent update.
I brought this app a long time ago and had many issues.
After the most recent update I tried it again and works great..
This is what I do
1. i have folder in my sd card synced with the onenote folder in pc
2. the onenote folder in pc is synced with skydrive
3. i edit and make notes in my android using mobile noter.
4. Now all changes are synced with my pc when i get home
Limitations of mobilenoter now are
1. Mobilenoter syncing option to cloud is still not great... Hence the work around i mentioned above
2. editing options are very limited
Workaround now is to make new notes in freenote and export to mobile noter
The benefit of cloud sync is that I can open the onenotes in another pc ( on a web browser) at work and do changes.
Thanks for the suggestions. I also dream of a robust OneNote app available on Android... Until then, can I clarify a few of your tips?

At my work i've gotten the responsibility to create a workshop about how to use the samsung note 10.1 at work. Many people (about 400) bought a note 10.1 but many have no idea how to use it and still prefer to print out everything and work with a pen.
So, last few days i've been looking for easy ways to use the tablet........it's not easy.
Many problems occur that non-technical people just don't understand.
Example problem: I've received an email with a pdf file... I open the file by selecting it and shows polaris, adobe reader(the one i use) and other apps. After opening it I insert some 'free draw' and wish to save it....no 'save button'... when i 'go back' it says document saved......where did it save it?.. maybe i can apply the same logic? maybe it saved it in the email where i pressed the PDF in the first place.... So i reply the mail, assuming it saved the PDF... it didn't
other such problems occur and so i thought... how do you people use the tablet at work? or is it still just a gadget toy, not really helping at work? Is this high tech device really only good at angry birds?
For people like me, who like to tinker and play with the device, it's usable... but what apps do you use to make work easy?

This diminishes the utility of the ENTIRE line since the even the KEY SIGNATURE FUNCTIONALITY can't be relied upon to work beyond the PRODUCT CYCLE of ONE DEVICE.
Samsung has a lot to learn from Microsoft.
Microsoft inspires confidence of the software and file formats since file compatibility in each release in MAINTAINED. I know my documents will work across each generation of software release.
You just can't use Samsung software suites on serious tasks because Samsung is a joke.

I have 4 pages of transcript if anyone wants the full horror story, but the synopsis is, Samsung has screwed us Note 10.1 users. The new Note 3 indeed uses a different format for S-notes. It wasn't clear whether that was read only, or if they would be editable.
Then he said it would take a samsung account to sync them and then they could be shared. I told him I did have that set up and asked him if that meant the Note 3's S-notes would then be compatible, he said I would have to wait until the Note 3 was released in the U.S. to find out. I told him the Note 3 was being used in 140 countries already, I gave him the model number on the manual that preach2k nicely provided. He said I would have to wait for the U.S. Version to be released because models are different.
Can you even begin to understand how unhappy I am? He apologized for the inconvenience and at that point I gave up. I have canceled the Note 3 and at some point will get a Note 2, after I'm done crying. :'(
(thanks much to al_sen and to preach2k, the information on the post about the S-note formats and having the manual at hand gave me valuable information so I could make sure the tech people knew what I was asking about)

I have a Note 3 and a Note 8 LTE . The Native Snote in the Note 8 is not the same (it is like the one in the Note 2). I just downloaded the S Note apk from Xda that is compatible with the S Note 3. Now I sync them through evernote and I see the exact same thing on both devices. lf I open a new note on one device or make changes to an existing note it syncs perfectly, I can post pics or proof if you are interested.

Yes, cubanonoobie, please elaborate. I have a Note 3 running jelly bean and the s notes get saved with the file extension of .spd, my Note 8 is the wifi only version but is running KitKat and the s notes get saved with a file extension of .snb
I can send (via bluetooth) s notes from the Note 8 to the Note 3 and the Note 3 will convert the .spd to the newer .snb, but of course, now if I edit the s note on the Note 3, it cannot be accepted back by the Note 8.
I really would like to know how you got evernote to intervene.
Also neither of my devices is rooted, and I am really not willing to risk rooting just yet. Thanks for any ideas!

OK sure, I can elaborate. First things first, if you are in North America the galaxy note note 3 was updated to kit Kat a while ago so you might want to check into that also. On your note 8 you have to download the Snote from the next generation devices. I got the apk file from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677686
Once you download the compatible snote into your note 8 you will be able to open and modify snotes on either device because the will always be in spd format. Now you can continue transferring them vis Bluetooth but the beauty of Evernote is that the latest version is integrated with Snote. So, if you have Evernote installed on your devices they will automatically show your SNotes too. So if you create an Snote on either device it will synchronize it to all your devices. Makes sense? You do not need root at all. Let me know if this link works for you. I am not very at good at pasting these links.

You've clearly never tried opening a docx or xlsx file on Office 2003.
Now that was a nightmare. All the idiots who got a new computer which saved as docx as default, meaning the ENTIRE company couldn't open their 80 page document... Oh yes, Mocrosoft does compatibility so very well....
Anyhow, this is why I use good oldfashioned txt format(droidedit, android's equivalent of n++) Anything I need drawn, I do in a sketch apps. Evernote is useless for pc and if I need a txtfile as widget, Colornote. Lets me 'open as' any txt file through file manager to import. Easy peasy. (and has sync.)

No offense to you, but what a bunch of losers. Either the IT team dropped the ball or the users can't follow simple instructions. DOC should have been set to default or the users should have been notified.
I didn't start using DOCX until only very recently. There seems to be little purpose for docx, especially when most of the 3rd party apps used to only read DOC.
At least it's an option to save in Office 99-2003 format, unlike SNOTE. So it's irrelevant point in comparison to the SNOTE issue.
Oh and lets be fair here, Office 2003 was 10 years ago, Note 10.1 2012 was TWO.

Well, the IT dept was comprised of people who googled how to access the registry on Windows, thought an i3 and IntelHD was more than sufficient for advanced very heavy Photoshop use, and that >2GB files could easily be used over a 5Mbps line on a cloud server....
So that probably tells you enough about their qualifications. And since I'm a woman, they refused to hear a word I said. After all, what could anyone without a phallus possibly know about technology... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: (Their words, not mine. They were just a bit more crass about it.)
When you have a note open, you can hit Optionkey --> Share Via. This gives you a menu to save as S Note file, Image file, PFD and TXT.
The same can be done for an entire notebook by hitting the gear icon on the top right of a notebook. This also gives you the option to export the Notebook to Google Drive or as an Image/PDF to your internal memory.
Not ideal, but it's better than nothing.
I recently phoned Samsung UK Customer Support to ask if S-Note was available for Windows XP operating system.

When I said that this was likely incorrect as I had seen it available for Win 7, they went through to two senior manager who confirmed S-Note was never made for PCs.
They obviously hadn't a clue as later that day I found S-Note on their own website for Windows 7, here: S-Note
I have a laptop running Windows XP and it would be useful to be able to transfer S-Note documents back and forth with the Note 3.
I wonder if anyone knows if S-note is available for Win XP anywhere?

The managers were perfectly correct. The app S-Note is NOT available for Windows.
What you have there is S-Note Viewer. It can only be used as a file manager and viewer, not as a note taking app. It is not S-Note.
And no, Win7 -only apps can't run on XP. Completely different system. The only thing they ever managed to do that with was Halo 2 (for Vista), and it ran through DOS after severe hacking of the game's files. (Still, Halo 2 ran better on XP than it does on 8, which is to say, it doesn't run on 8 at all. Won't even launch.)

The UK Customer support is a mixed bag. Occasionally they are very helpful, and at other times rather useless. I recall when the Note 3 first came out they tried to convince me there was no such feature as region blocking or similar, and all their models would accept all sim cards at all times, even though I had the box and label in front of me stating otherwise.
ShadowLea, unfortunately your well intentioned attempt to be cleverly pedantic on behalf of Samsung support has failed. The program on their website simply states S-Note. Neither the agent nor managers knew they has an S-Note program of any kind on their website, It is irrelevant in illustrating the ignorance of customer services and their managers whether the program is a viewer or a full editing program.
Furthermore it is blindingly obvious that the S-Note Windows 7 program doesn't work on a windows XP machine. I didn't ask if the Win 7 version could run on an XP system. If it did I would be using it now and wouldn't have posted my message.
Now if anyone actually knows if S-Note is available anywhere (of any flavour or colour) for an Windows XP system, please advise. Thanks.

Have you bothered to look at the screenshots? (No, you haven't.)
Look very carefully, and tell me what name it says at the top of the screens...
You asked if it was available. I told you why it wasn't. If you can't figure out that answer C includes answer A & B, that's not my fault. Is it available? No, because the app wasn't made for XP. There, perhaps that makes more sense?
Just a headsup for future reference. Customer support for large companies is ALWAYS outsourced. You weren't speaking to Samsung, you were speaking to a callcenter located quite likely not even in the same city as Samsung's local HQ.
It's why people with questions that can't be answered with 'did you turn it off an on again?' shouldn't waste their time calling the service line. You don't get the company, you get an idiot who barely knows how to press the enter key. (And when they say 'we'll pass it on' or 'we'll discuss it in the next meeting', no, they really won't. They don't even belong to the company, let alone speak to anyone of said company.)
On a last note about the Region Lock. I was telling people about it weeks before the Note 3 even came out. (Not that anyone listened. Told them that it came for the S4, S3 and Note 2 in an update as well, still didn't listen, still happened.) And that info did come directly from Samsung itself. (You may draw your own conclusions as to how I came to know about it.) The Customer support/callcenters denied it because the info was still confidential and internal back then. And thus they weren't informed. (The first month)

I've used Google Keep for a long time, until I changed to Iphone and changed to notes, from IOS.
Now I've imported all my notes to Google Keep again (the new ones).
Now with S22 Ultra I don't know if I can maintain GK or just jump to Samsung Notes or other.
My question is besides all about the S Pen, which I assume these S Pen notes are saved in Samsung Notes.
What do you guys use? Which one do you use?

M$ One note for me, is the one and only that is:
- truly multiplatform: Mac, windows, ios, android, web. All the docs are centralized and accessible on all platforms
- great support for: s-pen, apple pencil, surface slim pen

I use OneNote, but that is because I'm more invested in the Microsoft ecosystem. In college my school used Microsoft Office and OneNote was part of it.
I can sync my notes across all of my devices (S22 Ultra, Tab S7, Surface Pro 6, and Dell Inspiron desktop PC).
Samsung Notes allows you to export to OneNote, but it's kinda awkward and you cache edit them after you export them.
Evernote is also pretty good, but I think you have to pay for it.
