SWYPE - Keyboard

Does any one have a working copy of SWYPE the official SWYPE keyboard that works? I have used almost everyversion on xda but they install fine, but when I click on a TEXT box to start typing it FC.
or even the GingerBread Keyboard would be great. One that works with an easy install....

The stock keyboards "trace" feature as its called is trash compared to Swype..I tried the stock one and didn't like it very much so I installed Swype. 100 times better.

I downloaded it now and works fine.

I've been using slideit for a year and I find it works better than swype at times.

No, the issue might be if you have your lcd density set lower, it might not scale correctly.

Shoot me a PM if you decide you don't want to use the beta.

Swype is fantastic, but new beta swype don't have a Croatian language

This is how y'all can get swype 3.7 (not beta) working:
1. Download this rom and extract it .
2. Open extracted folder and navigate to System / app / and copy the Swype_3.7.apk to the root of your sdcard.
3. Open extracted folder and navigate to System / lib / and copy the libSwypeCore.3.7.85.27287.so to the root of your sdcard.
4. Open Root Explorer / System / Build.prop and edit "ro.product.brand=htc_wwe" to "ro.product.brand=tmobile" (Dont forget to Mount R/W to do this). Reboot.
5. Open Root Explorer / sdcard / and copy both files (Swype_3.7.apk and libSwypeCore.3.7.85.27287.so) to System Folder. "Don't put them into the app and lib folder yet" and also Dont forget to Mount R/W to do this).
6. Long Press your Swype_3.7.apk / Select Permissions / Changes to rw-r--r--
7. Long Press your libSwypeCore.3.7.85.27287.so / Select Permissions / Changes to rw-r--r--
8.Move file ( Swype_3.7.apk )to /system/app
9.Move file ( libSwypeCore.3.7.85.27287.so ) to System / lib
10. Reboot

[Q] How to make Swype my default keyboard

I want to make Swype my default keyboard. I have have CyanogenMod's flasable zip and Swype's working apk. I want to replace default keyboard in the zip with Swype. is it possible to do it?

Ur question isn't clear dude.. if u just want 2 use it as ur default keyboard,do as my friend said.but if u want to delete default keyboard, delete d keyboard apk from system/app using root explorer

Long pressing to change the keyboard does not make the keyboard the default. Upon reboot, your stock keyboard is used or none if you have removed it. I have to change to Swype upon every boot. Very annoying. There must be a way around this. Does anyone know?

I'd love to hear the answer to this as well. Prior to last release of Android, Swype said that it was an Android problem and the next release would fix it. They stated on the user comments section that "we can't help sloppy Android code and it's not our fault". The problem was neither - it still comes up with the standard keyboard as default upon reboot every time

Try SwiftKey.

The issue happens with all paid keyboard.
Someone says it's an os fault..someone a Play store fault..someone a bad app coding fault.
The fact is that no one had made a fix.
It's there a way to fix this without touching the alt keyboard (I mean without moving it or installing it manually so to avoid any strange future updates failure) that can prevent the default stock keyboard to stick back as default at each reboot??
I mean..if I back up the stock android keyboard and then uninstall it with Titanium Backup..could it fix?

This issue happens with (almost) all paid keyboards, as the only available keyboards at boot are the stock and free ones, given paid apps are stored in a protected storage area that is unavailable at boot time, at least until the Google Play service is actually started.
That's why (for instance) SwiftKey Free or Smart Keyboard Free are indeed kept as default keyboards after a reboot, but their corresponding paid apps will not and hence the 1st available free/stock keyboard will be selected.
The solution (developers?) could be the paid keyboard being the same free app, working with a "license" paid app. This way, the keyboard would be available at boot time and could be enabled as default, while keeping paid/premium features.
I'm afraid this is an OS restriction (bug maybe?) not yet addressed but with a helper app. The best ones so far imho (just workarounds anyway, as they still require user intervention):

I managed to get it working on 2.3.7 & 2.3.8 successfully but the gesture feature doesn't work(coz it asks for license):sly:. Does anyone know where the Swype licence gets stored(somewhere in /system partition)??

swype somehow checks your build.prop file and based on that check, Swype will work or not.

First you will need to extract the needed files from a stock ROM. If you are still running the stock software, you can use a file explorer app to make a copy onto your SD card. Just copy and paste. You can also pull the files from the stock image or from the Iced glacier ROM. Pulling from Iced Glacier is the easiest method. Just unzip the ROM file and find the needed files.
There are two files, both in the system partition. The first is "Swype.apk" and is in /system/app folder. The second is "libSwypeCore.so" and is in /system/lib/ folder.

It seems you must also conciser the source ROM and destination ROM when obtaining the files. Swype does a device/licence check when running, and if it fails the check then Swype will not work. The build.prop lists "t-mobile/htc/ect" as product.brand and Swype seems to check this before running. So use a version of Swype from a ROM with the same build.prop or edit the build.prop manually.
Now to install Swype:
There are two ways to do this, ADB or root explorer. (or other file manager with RW)
Any extra info to help explain what is going on for any new guys will be in green text.
For ADB:
First put the files you extracted into the tools folder of the android SDK, then open an ADB shell to your phone. When that is done, use the following commands. (each line is a separate command)
Remember Linux commands are case sensitive.
First is to mount /system as RW. (this allows you to save files to /system)
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
Then you need to push (save a copy) the files to the correct locations.
Code:
adb push Swype.apk /system/app/Swype.apk
adb push libSwypeCore.so /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so
It may give the files the wrong permissions. (how much access to the system they have) Just to be safe we need to give the files the right permissions.
Code:
chmod 644 /system/app/Swype.apk
chmod 644 /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so
sync
reboot
Your phone will reboot and then you are done.
For Root Explorer:
Extract a copy of the needed files and put them on the SD card.
Then open root explorer and open the "sdcard" folder.
Next find "Swype.apk" and long press it and select "copy" (or if you have already completed this step once, copy "libSwypeCore.so")
Use the back button to go back to the root of the folder tree (up top where it shows your current location, it will show "/" this is where you started from when opening the app)
Locate and open the "system" folder.
You then need to tap the button up top marked "Mount R/W" (this will allow you to make changes and copy the files to the right locations) (this step should not be needed if you have already done so before)
Next open the "app" folder. (or if you are moving "libSwypeCore.so" open the "lib" folder)
Hit the "paste" button to copy the file.
Next long press the file you just copied "Swype.apk" and select "permissions" (or "libSwypeCore.so" as appropriate)
You will see a bunch of check boxes. The will be labeled "read" "write" "execute" across the top and "user" "group" "others" down the left side.
For "user" select the "read" and "write" boxes
For "group" and "others" select the "read" box only. Then select "OK"
When done with the first file, repeat the above steps again with the second file. Observe any changes to the steps that are in orange text.
Next open up a "terminal emulator" app and then run the following commands.

Your phone will reboot and then you are done.

however, this has not helped my with my Galaxy Ace with custom rom. I guess the build.prop files do not match.
You can try with your Fit however. You need to have the swype.apk and the libswypecore.so files from your Original rom.

Android workaround for the NFS Most Wanted "not enough free space" problem

ATTENTION! Back up your original apk file BEFORE the mod as you WILL need it AFTER the mod is done..
Ok guys, so i decided to play NFS Most Wanted on my new device (LG L Fino) so i installed from market and started the app.. Ok BUT as many of you i was facing the "Not enough memory on device,clear up some memory to proceed" message. So i got angry and decided to see if there is a workaround of the problem. Well generally the problem itself is that my device (like many others) uses ONE memory chip which is split into TWO 2GB parts, the first is system only, and the second is user- accessible, BUT 1,2GB of that "user space" is flooded by system junk and bloatware etc etc.. So all you have left in the so-called Emulated SD is actually some 0.8 gigabyte which is not sufficient in any way, when you want to install NFS Nost Wanted, because when you start the app first time it asks you to download some 2055mb's game data and says you have 0mb free on device, when the actuall gamedata size is only 670mb.. So i found this workaround and i decided to share right away.. Enough talking - lets get to business:
Prerequisites:
ROOT IS A MUST HAVE FOR THIS JOB
Install RAR app from rarlabs (search on google play)
Install ES File Explorer
Install NFS Most Wanted from google play
Make sure of having at least 700mb free on internal mem.
Lets start.
First open ES File explorer and turn Root Explorer "on"
Then navigate to root/data/app and find a file named " com.ea.games.nfs13_na-1.apk "
Now COPY that file to the root of your ext SD (for the sakes of easy navigation)
Next click and hold on the file till you have it marked then from the popup menu (right lower corner) choose "Open as" (not extract) then choose "ES Archive manager" and once inside, navigate to /assets/downloadcontent .
There you will find a file named: "config.properties"
Copy that to the root of you ext SD and open it with text editor.
what you need is to find the two lines that read
TOTAL_SPACE_MB=2055
# TOTAL_SPACE_MB_MIN=440
and edit them to look like this:
TOTAL_SPACE_MB=0205
# TOTAL_SPACE_MB_MIN=044
Now close the file and save the changes.
Next open the RAR app and navigate to the root of your ext SD then click and hold the edited text file till a menu pops up, select "Copy to buffer"
Then click and hold at the apk file, select "Open as archive" (NOT EXTRACT!) and again navigate through assets/downloadcontent, then click and hold on a random file and from the popup menu select Paste, it should ask you if you want to overwrite, choose YES and close RAR.
Final step is to open ES File Explorer again, navigate to root of ext SD, COPY the now edited APK then navigate to root and /data/app and PASTE. Select YES to overwrite file.
Now click and hold the apk one last time, and from the popup menu (lower right corner) choose "Properties"
Right next to "Permissions" there should be a button named "Change" go ahead and push the button. Now you have to fix those permissions, you should see 9 checkboxes. CHECK the three ones that are underneath "Read" and check ONLY the topmost thats underneath "Write". ALL OTHER HAVE TO BE UNCHECKED!
it should now look like this:
.......................Read.........Write.........Execute
Owner:........(*)...............(*)...................( )
.
Group:.........(*)................( )...................( )
.
Others:........(*)................( )...................( )
Click Ok, close ES File explorer, run game, download 650mb gamedata and have fun (optional is when you download gamedata to use app like GL to SD)
if you mess up the process, start over-rinse-repeat

Edit: I found out a bug and i don't know if it's only with my copy of the game after modding or if everyone of you who tried this has it. So...
THE BUG is that after i modified the already installed apk in order to download data, i happened to restart my device and when it booted it seemed like my copy of the game somehow "partially uninstalled" itself.. After a little digging i found out that it actually did uninstall itself, BUT only the apk - that meaning the data and savegame ARE still there..
THE SOLUTION is before doing the above mentioned walktrought you have to backup you Original apk first (using the backup app tool of ES File Explorer) and after that you have to reboot your device, install the original apk (it will tell you that this update has nothing new in it, thus not requiring any new permissions - install anyway) and you're good to go with a stable installed game..
BUG 2: after all done right, it happens that my copy of GL to SD app is not showing the most wanted in "linked apps" section and neither it is showing it in the "Move data" list.. Don't you worry, the game is still "in there" even when it does not show up on the lists, click the "mount" button and play as normal - it is working..
If there is some trouble i will be glad to help, just write a reply here and i will check my thread regularly.

I've recently been working to backup all of Viber messages/conversations along with media files.
Came across multiple threads and solutions. Wanted to gather them up here for everyone struggling with it, so we don't waste time again.
Here are solutions:

Requirements:
Install ADB and OpenJDK 8 (I had nothing to do with security extension) by following adb backup guide on XDA
Download adbextractor
Then do

Now, do the following
Connect the old mobile, create backup with adb backup (disable WiFi and data and forget the old phone)

sudo java -jar abe.jar unpack /home/user/Downloads/viberoldphone1.ab /home/user/Downloads/viberoldphone1.tar
Install Viber on new phone and activate Viber, connect the new phone and create backup with adb backup

Open TAR archives in an archive manager (found Archive manager for GNOME 3.14.2 on my Lubuntu LiveCD). Copy files below from viberoldphone1.tar DB directory to vibernewphone2.tar

viber_messages
viber_messages-journal
Repack to .ab and restore data to phone

sudo java -jar abe.jar pack /home/user/a/vibernewphone2.tar /home/user/Downloads/vibernewok.ab
sudo adb restore /home/user/Downloads/vibernewok.ab
Works like a charm. I have just tested on Android 4.1 and 5.0. I run into problems on Win7 with adb so finally used Lubuntu.
You can try to edit Viber DB files with SQLite editor. Probably DB files could be restored directly but I had no time to test

This solution required a Rooted device.
Restore Viber backup (for me I did this using MyBackup Pro)
Install SQLite Debugger from the Play Store
Using SQLite, try locating the Viber database files by selecting App then choosing Viber from the list (if you want to locate the database manually, for me it was under /data/data/com.viber.voip/databases)
Choose the "viber_data" database
Open the database, scroll to the bottom, choose "Create backup"
Save the backup somewhere on your SD card (not inside the viber folder or else it will get deleted)
Repeat the same steps for the "viber_messages" database
Uninstall Viber (or if you are using MyBackup Pro, go under Toolbox and "Wipe the Cache & Data" for Viber)
Reinstall Viber so that a fresh, clean working set of databases are generated by the app (or re-open Viber)
Do the usual setup of entering your phone number, letting it sync contacts etc
Once Viber has settled down, close it
Re-open SQLite Debugger
Navigate back to the "viber_data" database
This time, choose Restore Backup
Select the backup file from your SD card
Kill Viber if requested and wait for the restoration
Rinse and repeat for the "viber_messages" database
Once it is all done, reboot your device and hopefully, the next time you open Viber, the old messages & calls are all there! Unfortunately for me, presumably due to the change in ROMs, the photos sent in Viber messages are in my Gallery but NOT in Viber itself.. I suspect this can be fixed if the path is saved somewhere in the messages database - but right now, I'm just glad to have the text back.
If you get repeated errors from Viber during this process, try freezing the app using MyBackup Pro Toolbox (I believe Titanium Backup also has this option)

seventh: go to www zamzar com convert zip-to-tar.gz and convert your zip file to *.tar.gz file
eighth:copy the converted .tar.gz file to the "go backup" or "titanium backup" folder (be careful the name of your file must match the original name)
ok now your good to go just go inside "go backup" or "titanium backup" on your phone and restore viber

- Change "viber_messages" permissions to rw- rw- ---
- Change owner from root to the same as it is for other files in the folder (on my device this was changed to u0_a142)
- Change group from root as well (on my device this was also changed to u0_a142)
- Restart Viber

I was hoping to find something that would backup and the messages and convert them to some other format to read them without Viber...

In 2018 we should not have to root our devices and jump through hoops on PCs to have something basic as an automatic backup-restore of app data. Viber is bad, and its developers should feel bad.

That's easy: burger menu -> Settings -> Calls and Messages -> Email message history
But, since Viber now for some time has a backup option (to Google Drive), did anybody succeed in restoring messages and afterwards having images/pictures shown inside the conversations?

4 ways to move files to Android/data or Android/obb if your Android OS doesn't allow you to

Get the latest version of MixPlorer for Android 13 which was released a few days ago. Allow it to access data and obb folders. It's the only File Manager app that can access them right now.
Method 1-
• Download and install Files by Google
• Tap and hold on it, go to app info, allow the app to modify system settings
• Open the app, copy your game/app obb or data file to the Android folder inside your device storage. Then move it to obb or data folder on Android.
Method 2-
• Download and install Mixplorer by Hootan Parsha.
• Tap and hold on it, go to app info, allow the app to modify system settings
• Open the app, copy your game/app obb or data file to the Android/data or Android/obb folder inside your device storage. The app will ask you to choose the folder you want to modify. Simply open and select Android folder.
• Now you can copy/move without any hassle
Method 3 (requires root) -
• Download and install Root Explorer.
• Tap and hold on it, go to app info, allow the app to modify system settings
• Open the app, copy your game/app obb or data file to the Android/data or Android/obb folder inside your device storage. It will ask write permission on the app, press okay.
• Then it will ask root permission. Grant it and you're good to go.
Method 4 (requires a custom recovery) -
• Reboot to TWRP, PitchBlack, OrangeFox
• Go to settings - mount and tick system
• Now go to recovery file manager, navigate to your file, tap or it or press and hold to get the options, then copy/paste it to Android/data or Android/obb
• Reboot
I know it's a really basic tutorial for a lot but the more people know the better.

Method 1, ist kaput.
Does not work. Recognizes Android folder ONLY AND if you copy to it, it rejects your copy or move.
Method 2, failed as well
Don t know how to implement 3 n 4

On Samsung devices and others with android 12 and newest, simply doesn't work any method without root, even when u have app that is asking for permission to have access to copy or do something with android folder, because even with that kind of app your every next move is handled by samsung app, so needless to say, u need to do a root...

I have that, its not working, its switching back to standart Samsung file manager because of protect, how i told
