I was going to try and extract the file I needed out of the 11.0.6.6.IN21AA but I can't seem to locate the global version of it. I've only seen the EUR and INDIAN so far. Does anyone know where I can find it or know if something else will work for root?

Cool thanks for the reply man. But now I'm really confused because of what I stumbled upon last night. Could you have a look at the link and see if we're on the same page? Thanks for your time if so

Yeah, I guess they're getting the boot image from the OTA update. Me personally, I wait for OnePlus to post the full update, then I use Payload Dumper to extract the boot.img and patch it myself in Magisk, then flash with fastboot.

This is my first time with OnePlus devices. Do they typically release their factory images or recovery images similar to Google for the Pixel/Nexus lines?
I see they released the OTA but that doesn't contain the boot.img needed for Magisk.
Thanks in advanced!

Here is a link to the full 9.5.3 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79545506&postcount=3 if you want to update past that you just download and install on the phone. (This is the Global firmware not T-Mobile)
Apparently OnePlus no longer releases full factory images, however, an awesome XDA member posts them for us!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424
I use it to clean flash, rather than factory resetting / flashing full OTA.

Great! I'll keep my eyes on this. I saw someone has released a python script that allows unpacking the OTA files so I might give this a go as well. https://github.com/cyxx/extract_android_ota_payload

Does the UK site offer something different? I have been monitoring the US site and see that the OTA were posted but nothing along the lines of recovery/factory images.

I believe so, but it's all inside the payload.bin
If you read the OP of the link I provided, that's where I got my information from.
I'm just going to stick to that because it's what I've used in the past and I know it works well!
I rooted my phone last week because I wanted to use substratum to theme my notifications. Since then, I've run into a bunch of frustrating problems.
Current Model: OnePlus 7 Pro 12GB version, build xXx_NoLimits_7.7 on OOS 9.5.11-GM21AB
Problems:
Phone used to be 9.5.11-GM21AA but now it's 9.5.11-GM21AB - does this affect anything?
Substratum hasn't worked in stock+root, and 2 different ROMs I've tried
Favourite app of mine doesn't work properly and I think it's because I'm on build 9.5.11 and not 9.5.10
How I messed it up: Started by rooting and trying to install Renovate ICE Rom, installed the wrong file which converted me to 9.5.5-GM21AB. Then I updated to 9.5.11 but it remained AB. I tried several times to unroot, roll back and get to 9.5.10AA but it always kept itself at 9.5.11AB. Sometimes my wifi would break. I currently have xXx NoLimits Rom installed.
Desired outcome: I want to unroot and roll back to 9.5.10-GM21AA stock
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, that was super easy. MSM automatically rolled back my phone to 9.5.3.GM21AA.
I have one more question - if I want to update it to 9.5.10GM21AA, how would I do that? If I update through the system, it will take me to 9.5.11, which I do not want. If the process is easier if I'm rooted, I already did that. To top it off, my substratum is working now after I reset my phone to how it is now. All I need is to update it to 9.5.10 and I would be sooooooo happy .
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply! I thought as much. Can you clarify if these steps are right?
Go to https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=294300
Download the one I want (9.5.10AA)
Move the file to my phone's internal storage
Update via Local Upgrade
Is this correct? Will I still have root after I do this?

Correct
You will unrooted after the upgrade as itll flash completely stock.
Just re-roof after it and your good to go!
Hey @virtyx I copied the exact zip file I downloaded into my root directory for Local Upgrade but it wasn't recognized. I then tried to just flash the zip through TWRP but it said it was an "Invalid zip file format".
Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

I got 9.5.9 from the OP forums and it worked! Everything is exactly how I want it now. Thanks for your help!

For my purposes, 9.5.9 and 9.5.10 are good. 9.5.11 reverted something with the brightness and so I don't want to use it.
I found a zip from the OP site for 9.5.9 so I was able to update to that one and since I got root/substratum to work without issue, I'm happy to stay at this build. In my eyes, my phone is absolutely perfect now and I am extremely happy. The only thing I would change is the size but that has nothing to do with the software/OS. Thanks for everybody's help!

I don't blame you, 9511 isn't as smooth as 9510.
also noticed 9510 had better battery life.
I might roll back myself
hi folks, i was getting OTAs up to and including the january patch, but the feb and march ones haven't come up. i'm rooted on stock 10, previously was using this method of installing updates. but now, nothing. anyone else had this? nothing too controversial installed, magisk with active edge mod, systemless hosts+adaway, youtube vanced? obviously i can update and re-root via the factory images but just checking in here in case anyone has had this and has any easier ideas. cheers.
Same here. My OTA didn't come by 7th of February/March so I sideloaded. Was thinking maybe Google won't serve them if rooted or magisk or unlocked bootloader.

cool, thanks for the response, i guess that's my lot then. i assume i can
extract and magisk-patch the boot.img from the OTA
sideload the OTA
flash the patched boot.img
to retain root?
I never tried extract from OTA I used the full image. But I download both anyway.
My guide should cover it all. Look at the "Sideload the OTA" section..... https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3a/how-to/how-to-root-pixel-3a-preferred-t3938783
Let me know if you have any issues or suggestions on how to make the guide better.

Hey all,
Can someone do me a favor and extract the boot.img from the OnePlus 8 developer preview 3 that was made available today? Unfortunately only have access to my work computer and can't install payload dumper to extract it myself. Thanks in advance.

I got you if I get on my laptop tonight. Or if I decide to flash it. Debating cause I'm itching to try it but I also hate losing root (especially for AdAway) and the possibility of breaking some apps/games. If you're running it, is it pretty stable?

Thanks bro. Been running it for a few hours now... Surprisingly haven't ran into any issues... The chat bubbles are a little buggy yet, but nothing major.
Screen cast is pretty much unusable... Display gets super wonky and distorted.

No problem man. No guarantees though. Just got off work and got quite a bit of things on my plate for the night. Any app problems at all? Does your bank app work?

Sorry man, been swamped with work lately. Haven't been able to get on a PC. A user above seems to have uploaded it for you. Let me know if you are able to successfully root DP3 and if so, let me know how if you don't mind.
As title suggest i have t-mobile version, and i want to try to find the update download. Currently the update fails since i have custom kernal installed. I would like to use this as opportunity to locate and extract the update. But not sure where to look and what I'm looking for.
I use FX file explorer but can use ES of have to. If someone can give me guidance on where and what?

If your using a custom kernel all you have to do is reflash stock boot.img and vendor_boot.img. Then you can take update.

I didn't back up the vender img unfortunately didn't know i needed it until after i flashed the kernel... But that's not issue anyway i can msm and get the update and reroot. I just want to see if i can get the capture download. It can be done on other versions but it's not in same place on T-Mobile version so was hoping someone could give me ideas where to look for it. The phone in current condition won't install it so i know it's there somewhere

You could actually F9 and verify on the msm tool and get a readback of whatever partitions you tic. It dumps to the root of your C/drive . Then you could have said partitions to flash back. I did this on my Verizon op8 because no builds were out in the wild. You can run a logcat through adb though. Tic system update . Then correspond in the logcat and find googleapis or Url. T-Mobile builds aren't out there in the wild either.
