I rushed and bought the tencent version, and apparently it is using WW firmware. Everythig seems fine since I dont really want to unlock bootloader and all, but can I update the sofware by OTA? If I can't, how to do it manually?
Download it from the Asus site, put it on the sdcard, the phone will detect it, and then follow the prompts. OTA isn't possible with the "wrong" firmware, though.

Any links to the asus site? Manual update is fine too, I dont think too much, only for gaming.. thanks in advance
Edit: found the site
https://rog.asus.com/phones/rog-phone-5-model/helpdesk_bios
Currently downloading, after this the phone will automatically detect the firmware even when its .zip file? Or how?
Edit 2: the device will automatically detect the firmware .zip after restarting, and I have updated successfully! Thanks
well for me he doenst detect idk why

You must put the file outside of the download folder
So in internal memory>
After a restart, the phone will detect the file automatically

You'll have to wait until you receive and install the motherboard before any decisions can be made.
The motherboard you receive could be unlocked or locked and will not have the same serial number as the one you now have. It may have the latest JB 4.2.1 firmware or ICS 4.0.
This is not a bad thing as it gives you time to verify the SKU issue and such (sorry, I don't know the answer to that issue).
Once installed collect your new motherboard info and post the firmware version, locked or unlocked, etc.

Searching I found several threads going from us to ww and ww to us. This is the only one I found with directions. The op went to and from ww and us. You will need to use the proper firmware version. You didn't state what version you have so go to settings about tablet and look there.
You'll need to unzip the firmware once and use the resulting zip. Here is a link with all firmware and many other things you may find of use.

Yes I've seen and my firmware version and the U.S. version ...
Ie I can not change to another correct firmware, I'll have to update this?
The tablet works but, in relation to the keyboard do not work will be for not recognizing the firmware?
Should he work right, even with a new board of the U.S., and European and tablet?
thank you

Not knowing your current firmware version I'm not comfortable suggesting specifics.
Assume you look in Settings/About tablet/Build number you should see your sku and version number. If you download the same firmware version number but sku ww you can unzip once and copy to root of your internal sdcard (/sdcard). Wait a few minutes for update notification. If you don't receive the notification a reboot will probably activate it.
My dock did not work properly on the latest update firmware version. I used the method listed above and kept the same firmware version as what was already installed. After a reboot my dock began to work properly.
I don't believe there is an electronic difference between the us motherboards and the ww motherboards. The serial numbers do vary and the specifics escape me at the moment.
I'm hoping someone who has had this had this situation will post a comment.

Yes that is what I was suggesting.
Now with your firmware version I can give you a specific link. You will find the firmware here.
Don't forget to give philos64 a thanks while there. Asus has long since stopped making this version number available for download.
The exact firmware version number is available in ww sku as what is now on your tablet.
Good Luck!

Unzip firmware (WW_ epaduser9_4_3_30UpdateLauncher.zip) once and use the resulting zip (WW_epad-user-9.4.3.30.zip) for your update. The file is placed in root of Internal Storage not your plugin sdcard. I said internal sdcard because the path is /sdcard or /mnt/sdcard if using a file manager or pushing with adb.
When connected to your pc this would be the root of Internal Storage not in a folder.
Sorry for the delay. I downloaded the file so I could give you the proper name once unzipped.

That method does sometimes fail. Here is another. Rename WW_epad-user-9.4.3.30.zip to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip, boot to recovery (RCK) Power & Volume - and select. Stock recovery should take over and do your update, allow plenty of time for completion and booting.

I believe you said unlocked, is that correct?
If so you should be able to flash the blob located inside your zip. Unzip your file again and place the blob in the folder with fastboot.
Then:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob
fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot

If you are on 9.4.3.30 through 10.4.2.20 you would use version 7 unlock app. If you are on the 10.6.1.8 or higher you would need the version 8 app.
I don't know that unlock is required to do what you wish but I don't know of any other methods to update without unlocking.

Guys! Hello again... I'm still blocked with android 8.1 on elm29 sp5c900. I understand that c900 is global, Huawei still tells me that an update will come soon, but nothing. Erecovery doesn't find nothing on server and hisuite doesn't help me at all. Now the question... Is there a problem if I download an update file from firmware finder and install it with forced update (power plus volume buttons)? Can I brick the device, since I don't have a backup file or original software

Firmware downloaded through Firmware finder won't install via forced update, you can use service ROM (download though androidhost dot ru) and place it on usb OTG and force it. Or you can use patched Hisuite method to update https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146/page132
Yes it can brick, anything can happen but very unlikely, just backup your device through Hisuite before trying that if you want to keep your personal data(won't back up firmware, only apps, contacts etc.)
C900 hw/normal does not get any update.
Just force some updated base via dload package or via forced hisuite with dns spoofed.
Thanks for your answers! So... The steps will be... 1. Download "update full base. app"
2. Place it on root folder in dload folder
3. Update it via forced update (power button plus both volume buttons)
I've found on firmware finder update.app file. This works via dload method?

For dload, you ll have to use an USBOTG, exfat formatted.
On 8.1, Use a 9.0 dload's update.app .
Once on 9.0, use a 9.1 dload's update_sd.zip
Alternative is to use forced hisuite.-If so uodzte first to 9.0 then 9.1.

Forced hisuite doesn't work! Gives me only update to android 8.0. Firmware finder on pc doesn't give me my version sp5c900, so I can't download any firmware. Now I don't trust FF on phone neither. What if this gives wrong firmware, since my emui version is not suported. ****

First, is this device is with an unlocked bootloader ? (and/or do you have the unlock code ?)
To check bootloader/phone status, boot to fastboot/bootloader mode :
Plug device to PC with Hisuite, reboot P20 and Hold volumeDown on P20 until it boot on white screen ;
What is your Phone status ?
Sorry for late response. Bootloader is locked.
"phone locked.
FRP UNLOCKED"
And I don't have bootloader code.
So you won't mind that dload packages are locking back bootloader as it is already locked...

Nope... I just want to root it so I can use Xposed
So basically, I require one file from the community : ramdisk_recovery.img. I would like it to be 100% not tempered, original, extracted from the latest .185 rom for C432 region for model CLT-L29. I have discovered a new method of rooting by using the sdcard method, however I have no way of getting the update.app from anywhere else. What I will do is replace the ramdisk_recovery.img within update.app with the patched version (patching the file using magisk manager) and flash it. This MIGHT brick your phone, however I am not certain. I hope I can get this file ASAP, as I might just found a perfect way to get out of Huawei's restrictions.
If you can write up a tutorial on getting that file from a phone (unlocked bootloader but unrooted), I can try to get it for you. (Having said that my device was a China region device which I rebranded to 432 when I received it, in case that makes a difference)

Afaik you can try adb dump ramdisk_recovery.img or by extracting the img from an update.app file. If you had root, you could try to redownload the update using HWProxy method, cancel the update and go to root/data/update and copy it's contents to a PC. i will keep looking for a method so feel free to try any method

This is the easy way to it.
I recently bought a ROG Phone 5s here in Japan, and it came on the WW-18.1220.2111.164 firmware.
I got into a bootloop trying to mount as readwrite, and the problem got worse until I was at a seeming brick with black screen. But I saved my phone using johhny886's guide here.
Upon flashing the firmware he provided, my phone is now back to normal but on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
System update checks and says "Your system is up-to-date." I tried a factory reset and interestingly it keeps me on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
WW-18.1220.2111.164 is downloadable from ASUS's website here and it comes in a zip file. How do I manually install this? Or can I?
There is also a newer WW-18.1220.2112.175, but it says "This firmware is only for ROG Phone 5S/5S Pro ID version". I thought about going to this newest version but that message scares me since I don't know what ID is here. WW-18.1220.2111.164 listed as "WW-18.1220.2111.164 for WW/EU/TW/JP version only." Device's country is listed as JP so I figured it's safer to go back to this.
Place that zip file you have downloaded in your phone internal storage (not inside any folders). Once you have placed it in the root of your internal storage just restart your phone. After restart unlock your phone and it will automatically detect that update file within a minute and ask you to update.
The ID version is Indonesian version. So choose JP version for you always.
I just did that and successfully updated as you posted. Somehow as soon as I go to post online I figure stuff out lol.
Thank you for the assistance, I was afraid and wanted to be careful.
