I'm reading the VoLTE websites for my carriers, and all carriers state that you have to have a certified phone (Poco X3 is ofc missing). The only Xiaomi phone on the list is Note 10 lite.
From what I gather the phone must also run the carrier OS, and the carrier puts a patch in their updates that enables volte on it.
So VoLTE will probably never work on custom ROMs, and 99.9% never on phones that that carrier doesn't sell ? Or is this certification info in the firmware and will be available some time in the future and is ROM independant ?
Why didn't they standardize this so all phones could use it ?

- VoLTE is standardized, I dare to say, roughly all smart phones released in the past 4 - 5 years have VoLTE implemented, and only carrier is limiting which phones can use VoLTE in its network - its common practice to only "support" a few selected manufacturers or phone models - why?
- because carrier is trying to support its own sales (if they sell phones)
- because carrier is creating for whatever reason illusion of false exclusivity - if you want to use VoLTE, you need to use only this phone(s) - and best if you'll buy it from us, and we guarantee you, VoLTE will be working
- which is bull****, only limit is how they configure they network - if they allow all phones with VoLTE to use it, they all will - if enabled in MIUI/custom ROM
- when I purchased POCO X3 NFC, it was on the market maybe two weeks, and yet when I inserted sim card from one of my preferred carrier, guess what - VoLTE was on and active from the first start of the phone - yes MIUI needed some persuasion to actually enable and use it - but after I switched to custom ROMs, VoLTE worked out of the box right after first boot...
However, there is a way to enable VoLTE on Xiaomi devices, you can run this code via dialer " *#*#86583#*#* " after that you will get ' VoLTE carrier check disabled ' statement. Under sim card settings you should see VoLTE.
I'm using .eu rom and it works for me I have no idea for aosp based roms.

- thanks for the exact code to enable VoLTE under MIUI, but unless your carrier enable your specific device, or all devices with VoLTE support in his network, VoLTE will not work even after using this code...

Just got off a multi-hour chat with T-Mobile tech team in US: they confirmed that they can't make WiFi Calling work on my Xiaomi Mi A1 (Global). Regular calling (Band 4) works fine.
Quote from out chat:
I have reached out to the highest level of Specialized Tech Care, and worked with them on the provisioning issues. With the Xiaomi MI A1 being a non-T-Mobile non US based phone, the option may show as available, but the device itself will not actually operate on, or use the wi-fi calling options. We can absolutely help you get into a device that supports the feature, but there is not a way to activate it on that device.
The provisioning failure is on both sides, we cannot activate the service, nor force an override to update the IMS.
The plan is setup and good to use it, but the systems are giving us an error saying that the feature is unsopported.

Symptoms and details:
Phone is a Global version with Oreo 8.0.0 and the latest security patch (Feb 1, 2018), not rooted, fully stock.
I tried enabling WiFi Calling in the Phone dialer app to no avail (Hamburger menu → Settings → Calling Accounts → T-Mobile → Wi-Fi Calling)
T-Mobile tried re-provisioning the phone. Their system was sending a special sms to enable WiFi Calling. It was understood by the phone, so I was seeing it as a regular text message:
FREE T-MOBILE SUPPORT MSG. Q's? See <REDACTED LINK TO TMOBILE SUPPORT SITE> WQGxYT92fBTCECnvS4QOiu7gzm4NPHiWMYoeXEs5riY=:WFCn|414b7f5b

Debug menu (*#*#INFO#*#* in the dialer) is still showing IMS Service Status → IMS Registration: Not Registered.
It sucks that voLTE doesn't work on T-Mobile US as well. It's what I expected when I got the phone anyways, so I can't complain too much.
yup sucks. regular calls is alright but to make up no VoLTE or wifi calling I just use google duo calls to my friends and it sounds excellent. only downside is I can only use it with people who only have duo installed.
VoLTE works great with this device.
Ps from India
It's so weird that my mobile company supports VoWifi and VoLTE but the phone doesn't seem to understand that. No option to enable and when i force enable it via shortcutMaker it disables itself. I double check that it's enabled by calling the company and they say that if my smartphone supports it, it sould be enabled by now...
Volte works fine here in my country
VoWiFI doesnt work in Greece, too.
Has anyone got this working, the icon is enabled but it's not showing up.
Volte only works iff you buy a volte compatible phone from 3 shop. It has to be one of there phones or its blocked. Unlike on O2 iff the phone is volte compatible it even works with some of there pay as you go phones. For this reason i am going to leave 3 after my contract finishes.

My last phone was a phone not sold in the UK but that worked?
Which phone was it and where did you buy it I know for a fact that any phone which has volte but not bought through 3 store will have the volte IMS service blocked because you need there version of Android firmware for it to work. I have had many arguments with 3 customer support over this.
the Volte and Wifi Settings are blocked by OP in their official firmware because they need the carrier to allow the settings on their phones. Some Asian imported phone manufacturers sometimes disobey them and allow it but this is not the norm.
Have you noticed that when you put in a sim from a major operator in the uk the internet/mms etc settings are usually auto configured?
three for example, configure their sims to block any 'non authorised' phone to auto download the required settings to enable wifi calling and volte.
This means that the only way of bypassing it (a bit like Sammy csc changing) is if there is a custom ROM available with the three settings pre loaded. EE are the only network that are essentially a 'slut' and allow their settings to (on the most part) be uploaded to any compatible phone.
I get 100 gig a month, unltd calls and text from Three for a ridiculously low £15 per month. I WILL NOT give that up !!!!
as much as i want an OP6 im sticking with a tried and tested Samsung S9 plus that to be frank is just as fast on the most part, and you can easily load three or whatever branded software to enable all the wifi calling and volte goodies.
O2 allow this also. The only real way to get volte working on a non 3 handset is when 3 release there factory stock images eventually and they can be flashed after rooting. Even with custom roms volte will not work for instance lineage etc although volte is implemented still doesnt work. I had bought a lenovo p2 a few years ago and volte did not work for a whole year untill 3 factory images were released and i rooted the phone and installed the 3 firmware then it started working. 3 are real scumbags in this regard.

all u need to get three volte working is essentially the ims settings, ive seen people being able to get three volte and wifi calling working on various grey imports. But agreed its a very convoluted process.
All one plus's use their own firmware, they dont have carrier versions like samsung and others ...
That is correct the only way oneplus would have volte settings is iff 3 sold oneplus on contract otherwise it is a difficult process. I would be very interested nevertheless iff someone in the future figured out a way to get volte working on a non 3 phone other than using there firmware. By the way i am not a oneplus owner but in fact i have a xiaomi mi6 but i am in the same boat ref volte.

Unfortunately, I was able to flash the H3G firmware onto my Italian source S8 and use both VoLTE and VoWiFi without ever speaking to Three, same applied to the unbranded S9 I got from CPW SIM free!

I have access to a OP5T and VoLTE and VoWiFi both worked out of the box!
My Pixel 2 - not a chance!
It's easy my dude, there are some bugs with it but hey you can't have both of the best world just yet.
Tutorial : Open Magisk - > Go to Downloads - > Search for VoEnabler - > Reboot - > Activate the VoWiFi and VoLTE in the settings. - > SUCCESS.
Bugs? Only bug I found is that every time someone calls you it will say Unknown (While on VoWiFi, haven't checked on VoLTE yet.)
Let me know how you get on
Three VoLTE working here too using Vo Enabler.
Sorry i am in the weird situation although im not a oneplus 6 owner. I have a xiaomi Mi6 and i used the module voenabler and now i can make calls over wifi but the enhanced Lte option in settings has vanished completely and in the 4636 settings the option for wifi calling became available but the volte option is now greyed out.
I have got VOWIFI working on 3 with pie, I upgraded to 9.0.0 then did this
Dialled *#800#
Went into OnePlus logkit
Went into Function Switch and checked VOWIFI and VOLTE then rebooted
The options now appear in SIM settings and you can turn them on or off.
When I installed 9.0.1 the Function switch options had been removed but as I had already turned them on the SIM options persisted On installing 9.0.2 the Function Switch settings had returned but with a dev test warning.
I have entered airplane mode, turned on WiFi then made and received a call.
The 3 IMS was automatically configured
And some screenshots
I was able to active vowifi but volte is not registering, I did notice that when I connect to WiFi a do a call and during the call I disconnect the WiFi volte start working but only on that call after the call finish it discomect and goes back to no volte. This is on three UK with Pie using the logkit.
@crazdgrunt99 does volte still works for you using the vo enabler?
Got Volte working with 3UK
I got Volte working in my OP6 with 3UK. I used the softwares mentioned here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/guide-volte-vowifi-german-carriers-t3817542
I only installed the softwares mentioned and used *#800# oneplus logkit to enable volte/vowifi options- after that I followed other method used by Jamal , guy who figured out these methods for OP6 (please take EFS backup before this procedure)
Open EFS explorer that is part of qpst software, select your phone , it will start loading directory and files-
Once the directory structure is loaded , go to following path - nv/item_files/modem/mmode
Open the attachment with this post. Delete all files that are same name as in the attachment from Mmode directory in EFS explorer. Note some files are not there. After deletion load the files from attachment to EFS explorer - load as item files - you can select all and load
Reboot phone and it should have Volte working.
Now that A10 is available for the OP6, I can confirm VoLTE working on both OB1 and the production version, at last. (no hacks required)
What about WiFi calling that works too
I'm in the UK and on Three network and have no option for WiFi calling (which i really need as my signal is bad at home). Anyone else have WiFi calling option appear (if so where?). The Mi 10 Pro had it enabled so disappointing this doesn't.
To disable the VoWIFI carrier check, all you have to do is enter *#*#869434#*#* in de phone dialer. The option to place calls over WIFI will then appear in the phone menu. However, some carriers check the type of phone you use or require specific settings in the ROM for it to work. I enabled VoWIFI this way on my device, but it's not working with Vodafone in the Netherlands (at least, not yet).

It's in the original post... UK and Three
Works ok on EE using EU ROM, see screenshot
Works ok on Vodafone UK too.
I'm using a Giffgaff and an EE SIM to see which gives better data and the option isn't enabled for Giffgaff (they don't offer it)
So at least in the EU ROM it is up to the carrier with no extra steps the user's end.
I installed EU rom on my Mi 10 ultra and now I no longer have VoWiFi in the settings, and VoLTE is greyed out and can't be clicked! I tried *#*#869434#*#* and got a message that saying VoWIFI is enabled, but it's not working.
Everything was working fine in China rom!!
Update: fixed!

VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWIFI *#*#869434#*#*
After dialing these codes make sure the notification says "carrier check disabled" NOT ENABLED.
The trick is you need to restart your phone after enabling them.

I'm UK on EE too... received phone today. Going to start the unlock tonight. Looking online, I note that both the "stable" EU and "weekly" EU appear to have snags - would have thought that the 'stable' would be pretty snag free. Do you recommend the EU ROM, or should I just go ahead with staying on Chinese for a while? I've flashed stuff before on older phones but want to try and keep this one as daily driver where poss, so most 'normal' stuff needs to work pretty much (android auto/vowifi+volte/voice recording/banking/fingerprint).
Would appreciate your input.
If Google pay is important, I mean really important, then stay on stock for now as gpay has an issue, or I should say both stable and weekly seem to have developed a CTS security problem that stops gpay and stops fingerprint banking, normal logins work still though. It should be all good and pass all safetynet tests, so hopefully fixed in next version after Chinese holidays, so around 15 or 16th October as all EU ROMs are based on official ones.
VoLTE and VoWiFI works fine with EU ROM but I am not so sure with the Chinese stock, so one to test.
Call recorder works on all versions really well but you ask about auto, not had any use of it but location history or tracking does not work on their Google framework version but these are fine on the full Google framework set of apps on the EU ROM.
Yes, stable is the most recent so called fully working version with weekly built in top since last stable. Do not switch between each, choose one branch or the other or you may need to wipe your data swapping between the two.
Unlocking does not affect anything but you do need to fully verify your mi account before you start or you will get nowhere. Once done you can start the unlock. The tool will take you to a point where you need to add your mi account and password to the phone to bond the 2 together, then it will start your countdown, 168 hours, one week. Come back after and use the unlock tool again and this time it will unlock, wipe and reboot, so make sure you have a back up or somewhere to get your data back on like your old phone and a copy of mi move. Then you can flash away or stay stock Chinese.
I have attached a copy of my guide to unlock, twrp and ROM flashing, I know you have done some before but it may help you or someone else reading. Oh and one final thing, read as much as you can here and in the Xiaomi.EU forums mi 10 ultra and ROM threads.

Sorry to dredge up an old post (I'm EE UK on weekly EU rom).
Can you get SMS to send when on VoWifi, as I'm still getting message send failed (using Pulse SMS)? Calling works, of a sort - quality is poor. Also noticed that sometimes I don't get the VoWifi indicator when out of service area
It sends while on VoWiFI SIM 2 on EE using Mi Message, the stock message app. See screenshot
Hi, I'm having issues with VoWIFI. It never worked on EU Weekly. I see, and enabled the VoWIFI option in the settings, but never works.
VoLTE used to work, but stopped after the last week update (10.12.2020). Since the last weekly update, VoWIFI option disappeared, and VoLTE is greyed out.
I put my SIM in an iPhone and everything was working fine!
I use EU weekly and don't have any issues. My Sky SIM does not but my EE SIM 8n SIM too works a treat. Screenshot attached shows VoWiFI call.
Sometimes the icon dissappears, so I just switch off Wi-fi and back on, service back.
Hi, I had Poco F1 before with working VoLTE, so I know that my carrier and current Sim card is supporting it. All I had to do on the F1 was typing in that code *#*#86583#*#* and activating the new volte setting.
I tried that with the X3 but it's not working. Whenever I receive/make a phone call my connection will switch from 4G to 3G.
Is there a workaround or is it a hardware limitation? I could imagine because the X3 just has an entry level SOC that the modem has some artificial restrictions to differentiate from the flagship SOC (845/865).
Did you get a volte carrier check disabled message after dialling that?
For me both volte and vowifi are working fine
Yes I got that. Are you telling the phone your real location or do I have to chose India or china? I remember with my Poco F1 I had to chose India to get features like call recording...btw I'm in Australia.
Changing regions
Anyone know if I do a factory reset and change to a different region like Europe will that make the phone operate on different Verizon bands possibly allowing me to get service? Just a thought ?

If you got the VoLTE was disabled message after entering the code, go to SIM settings and there will show the option to activate VoLTE. If not appears, try to enter the code again and check the SIM settings.

I think using different bands it's more about regional ROMs construction (Global, India, Europe etc) than changing region in ROM settings. Alternative, you can flash a different regional ROM using MiFlash and see if it helps with your problem.
After entering that code I get the switch, to turn on volte, but that doesn't change anything.

Can't you see the specific VoLTE symbol near mobile signal in the upper right corner of the screen? If you can't see it, you can try to make a phone call and see if the google dialer shows it's a VoLTE call (or check the dialer history calls if you use Xiaomi dialer....you'll see there if it was a VoLTE call or not).
Same here with my Poco x3 NFC global I am on Vodafone UK my carrier support volte and vofi but I can't enable it , I have no settings . What I found when I flash custom ROMs the volte works , the sound in voice calls is super crisp and I got the icon always there vote on sim and vofi on WiFi . I need an option or a menu or a trick to show that option in stock ROM to enable it .
I remember back in the days when I had OnePlus I had to go in the ingineer menu to tick on a toggle " enable volte" and "enable vofi"
And later on the OnePlus 7t pro I had to install an apk to force that toggle so I can enable it .
On my Mi Mix 2s it shows volte when enabled. This one no. Poco needs to fix this before a number of users get dumped for lack of volte.

I have LG velvet 4g dual sim LM-G910EMW, is there any way to enable volte for use on t-mobile?
im having the same problem with my carrier (simple mobile). they are saying my LG Velvet 5g is not compatible with their network upgrade to VOLTE. The specs for my model, do indeed show that it is compatible. They keep trying to get me to "upgrade" to a new phone. Whats going on here?
So I followed the below directions from reddit and it worked great and I now have Volte, however phone still drops to 3g when it makes a call any thoughts on how to fix that?
There is a way to force enable VoLTE on the "LG Velvet 4G Dual Sim" specifically your version which is the "LM-G910EMW".
By default the feature is disabled on this model variant for who knows why.
Follow the steps below: 1. Click on the "Phone" app and dial "##4636##" -If done correctly it'll automatically bring you to the "testing" settings menu.
Click on "Phone Information" -you should see a list of VoLTE settings however by default they are disabled and greyed out but don't worry there's a way to reactivate VoLTE. (You Will Come Back to this Menu later)
Go to your file app and create a file named "enable_ue" -thats all you need to do just create the file, nothing more nothing less.
Go back to the "Phone" App and dial "#*462633*#910#" -This code is specific to the variant and will not work on other non LM-G910EMW Phones. Dialing this should bring up the "Hidden LG Menu"
Select Field Test>Universal Enabler>Create New Config -a menu with check boxes for VoLTE options appearing
Select the boxes as follows "VoLTE" "ViLTE" "VoWifi" "ViWifi" And finally hit "Confirm" -a prompt will appear stating "Vo Services Updated"
Immediately restart your phone to allow the settings to kick in
After your phone has restarted go into your Settings>Network & Internet>Mobile Networks -If done correctly the VoLTE option will now be unlocked and available.
Switch on the "VoLTE"
Now to double check that your phone now truly has VoLTE enabled, repeat steps 1-2. If done correctly the menu should now say "VoLTE Provisioned Video Calling Provisioned Wifi Calling Provisioned " -if these 3 are all switched on then you have successfully force enabled VoLTE on your LG Velvet 4G Dual Sim LM-G910EMW, congratulations!
Sorry I'm not so good, can you help me please regarding this:
Go to your file app and create a file named "enable_ue" -thats all you need to do just create the file, nothing more nothing less.
I would like to know how to create this file, as I think I didn't do the job so I'm block when I enter Unviersal Enabler, it say: not supported
Thanks in advance for your help
In the upper right of your file manager there should ne three dots, click on that and it will show new folder, new file, etc.
Some file managers do not have a new file option so you may have to download a different file manager. I used 3c as my file manager.
Hi,
Can you please share the path where we need to add the file name as "enable_ue" and it will be 0 byte file right?
I just added it to the main storage and yes it was 0 byte
Will this work on the 900TM variant? I used 900 instead of 910 to get the hidden menu and it came up but i can't seem to get the volte button to enable in the menus.
If you have one variant of a Qualcomm LG Velvet can you turn on VOLTE by selecting the stock firmware for a different Velvet variant? Basically I wondere if an lmg900tm can be turned into an lmg900um. [NOTE: upon further investigation, the VOLTE feature may depend more on the SIM card and not on the firmware. There is an explanation here from Quora.com:
Is VoLTE activation dependent on the SIM card or just on the device model and the operator?
The phone has to be VoLTE compatible, that is the hardware itself must be able to handle VoLTE in terms of what it implies: band, frequencies and so on.
Then, the phone has to be provisioned to operate with VoLTE, in simple terms that means that the phone must be enabled or allowed to work with VoLTE, this is done wither by the manufacturer or by the operator. There are phones that even while they are VoLTE capable, the manufacturer of the operator won’t provision them to use VoLTE. One such case are the Google Pixel phones that are perfectly capable of VoLTE. but, if you insert a SIM card of a country where Pixels are not officially sold and supported, then Google has the phone set to disable VoLTE (and 5G as well).
Then, the SIM used in that VoLTE capable phone and VoLTE provisioned phone has to be of the right version. Some operators won’t provide VoLTE service if you don’t have a SIM with a minimum version (and thus SIM firmware and configuration).
Lastly, you have to be physically present on the network that has VoLTE capabilities. You could have all of the above, but, if you are in the middle of a desert or in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, probably VoLTE is not going to work…and neither 4G or 5G…
