Cannot flash any ROM on my Poco X3 NFC - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

Hi guys, after an update today my phone got stuck into a boot loop and couldn't install the update. Somehow I have managed to get into TWRP. Now I encounter the following issue when trying to reinstall custom rom(this applies for every rom I tried to install- ArrowOS, PixelExperience, XiaomiEU) I'm getting Error code 1 and above is the following line:
Failed to find partition vendor in dynamic partition metadata.
script aborted: assert failed: update_dynamic_partitions(package_extract_file("dynamic_partitions_op_list"))
Do you have an idea how to fix this issue. Please let me know if you need more information, because I'm new around here

Flash stock Xiaomi ROM using Fastboot and start all over.
Read carefully instructions in Opening post for each ROM as requirements differ between ROMs. Good luck!

So now what can I upgrade my Stock ROM to?

Hello, I'm a noob at this so please be kind. I followed the below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tra...inners-guide-unlock-custom-rom-tf300-t3061648
I successfully:
Unlocked my TF300T's Bootloader
Installed custom recovery using fastboot
Rooted my tablet
Debloated the Tablet (Titanium Backup)
Backup up my current (OEM) SYSTEM ROM to microSD
So now I'm onto attempting a custom ROM. I'm a bit bored with 4.2.1 and would like to go to the same version of ROM my Note 7 has which is 6.0.1 Marshmallow or even try the new 7.0 Nougat.
I'm a little confused as to what ROM will or will not work. I see a few ROMS worth trying, but there install instructions reference a different Bootloader multiple flashes such as SuperSU or gapps.
Whats the best fool proof method to flash a new ROM with what I have and are there any simple one file ROM/ZIP/ Blob etc.. file that would do what I want?
Thank you.

Congratulations! Everything you did looks fine. So you are ready to install a custom rom. I would like to suggest one of the best: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/rom-t3453702 (You may follow up the tread and report there!)
Please take care very exactly on the installation instruction in post #1 given by Timduru. And don't forget that you need Kang TWRP [email protected] Download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/recovery-twrp-t3046479. That's mandatory!
Good luck!

Thanks. As simple as the process was, as a noob (first time attempting this) I was really concerned about screwing this up and bricking my tablet.
The one you linked to was one of the ones I was considering and hence my question regarding what works with what I have already done. The noob mind (mine anyways) finds a dozen questions at every turn. In this case I would ask the following:
Q-Do I have to use Kang TWRP?
Q-How is it different than the TWRP I used on my Tablet?
Q-Will I need to constantly change TWRP versions depending on what ROM I want to use?
Q-Is there a danger to switching TWRPs?
Q-Doesn't flashing SuperSU after I flash Gapps overright and erase SuperSU or is there some unique way to flash (push?) both at the same time?
Q-Many more I'm sure!
To the noob, almost all the instructions I read appear to be written for someone who as done this many times. The level of detail needed for the novice is just not there or lost between the jargon used, with many steps not fleshed out because the author assumes a certain level of expertise.
I will definitely read these threads as best I can, but in the interim, is there any ROM that are known to be able to be flashed via the TWRP I currently have? The author of the version I used certainly made it seem like it was that simple, load the ROM/ zip file onto the MicroSD card and when in Custom recovery simply use the INSTALL feature to navigate to the file and press a button to flash and ..."BAM!!" you are running a new ROM.

That version of KANG appears to be dead, as the thread has been closed and abondoned by the OP. So no new questions or help there....
Can I install that version over the top of my current version of TWRP the same way I did the first time? (change file to TWRP.blob etc.)

Please don't brick your tablet. First download Kang TWRP. It isn't dead. Try this https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347781183.

Yes you can.
However Kang TWRP is a xxx.img file. You also can use your current TWRP and flash the image file. Attached you will find an image and a zip version.

Ok, so if I read your comment correctly, I can copy the .img file to an SD card, boot into recovery and flash it from there OR I can fire up fastboot and the same steps I originally did to install custom recovery from my PC to accomplish the same thing... either way I should still have custom recovery, but with the KANG version. Right?
THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU FOR RESPONDING TO MY PREVIOUS POST. I appreciate the support.
Oh no....
Well crap. I put the .img file on my SD card and boot the tablet into recovery, I flashed the .img file to the rovery not boot partition. All appeared well....but when I go back to see if I have KANG recovery, it hangs anbd says Booting Failure Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x000000000)
EDIT: After I cleaned my pants, I used abd and fastboot to flash the original Blob file using my PC. This restored the custom recovery. I was freaking out for a few minutes.
I didn't change the file name of the kang .img file. Should I have done something different?
EDIT: Successful recovery to Kang2.8.7.2 !! :good::good: I used adb and my PC to send the .img file (renamed "twrpkang.img" for simplicity) and it worked great. I'm a pro..:silly:

Not sure what I did wrong. I tried to do it within the old recovery menu and it hosed it. It found the file and mounted it successfully, but it seemed weird to be within the partition I was overwriting and writing to it. Kind of like you cant install windows while your using Windows...
The new version is much smoother.... Thanks, not to learn about this gapps super SU and how to flash all of these and in what order along with the ROM..as well as this wipe vs format thing...so confusing...

Is because with the update you loose bootloader commands ( fastboot)
So, you need to root, after root install Rashr from Google play, with Rashr you can flash twrp, with twrp you can flash aboot.img from 5.0.2 version with a flash zip then you recover bootloader commands like this.

What he's saying is that without fastboot the only way you can flash a ROM is through TWRP. You need to root and then install TWRP, and then install the ROM. Also, if you're doing any kind of reflashing; to do so without a custom recovery is risky at best.

Look at this thread to get TWRP and root. Works perfectly; I went through this procedure several times on 6045I. Just read carefully to understand the steps; there are couple of other threads that are linked from this one.

Yes, the TWRP steps are described for Idol 4, but the process works perfectly fine for 6045. That thread is a compilation of steps from few other threads that are linked from there; some may not be specifically for our model, but they work. Just read carefully and make sure you understand. It's quite normal on XDA, when you find some info from another device's forum, and adapt it to your device. Like I said, I did this myself on 6045I at least 3-4 times, while fooling around with the phone after I got it.

You can't use Sahara & Firehose for flashing the ROM. It will only let you to flash the recovery (TWRP).
You have to understand that you need to go through several steps here...
1. Your goal is to downgrade to 5.x. You can't flash a 5.x official stock ROM, because the only way to flash stock is to use Mobile Upgrade Q, and you already got an update to 6.0 for your phone. Your only choice is to find a 5.x ROM that can be flashed from TWRP.
2. So, you need to install TWRP. I recommended using Sahara & Firehose, because this method works for me every time with no problems. I pointed you to the thread with ALL the information you need. If it doesn't work for you, I don't know why. Maybe you don't have the proper drivers installed? You need the drivers before you try doing anything with your phone from your PC. Maybe you have a bad USB cable or port? Maybe something else? I have no idea... I simply told you what works for me 100%.
3. There may be another way, if you somehow root you phone first, then flash TWRP using Rashr, for example. But I don't know how to root it. I only rooted it by flashing SuperSU, after I already had TWRP installed, so I can't help you with this...
Most importantly, you need to understand what you are doing, why you need to do specific steps, and the purpose of all the tools you use...

Facing ROM installation problems and unable to flash magisk

Hello
Need kelp here
Problem 1:
When I try to install any Android 10 based ROM on my Violet, it ends up with an error 7 saying either " are you installing onto the correct device" or sometimes "requires firmware version #*#*#* even though I flash the latest Chinese firmware everytime I flash a ROM.
Obviously, I'm able to bypass this problem by deleting the 2 assert lines in it's script using note++
I also flash fcrypt disabler after ROM flashing.
But still OTA updates keep failing and leads to boot loops
Problem 2:
OK,
now am in ROM, I try to flash magisk now, that leads to bootloop too
So can't flash root
Any solution?
Also I use orangefox recovery

ROM installers that have that kind of assert are usually looking for a specific firmware version. Just flashing "the latest Chinese firmware" does not mean that you are flashing the specific version that the ROM's installer is looking for.

Your intervention, which I just queried above, could easily cause that. Secondly, there is a specific ROM (which will remain nameless) which forces you to use its own recovery for everything - including and especially OTA updates - and if you try using another recovery, heaven help you. If you have that ROM, dump it!

For this go to File Manager, select data then change the file system from f2fs to ext4. Then the error 7 issue will get solved.
Note: This will format all internal data.
Go ahead! All the Best! Happy Flashing!!
Flash 9.9.3 firmware version .. most of the roms require that specific version. Then flash rom ... Also flash magisk after first boot not right after you flash rom this might help !

Fastboot loop after wipe /system

Hi all,

I also tried to delete these 2 lines, but other errors come up.

From the codename I conclude that you downloaded rom for Mi 10, not for Mi NOTE 10. So if you have tucana (Mi Note 10/Mi CC 9 Pro), better try with one of these: Mi CC 9 Pro/Mi Note 10/Note 10 Pro (tucana) MIUI Downloads | Xiaomi Firmware Updater
You should be able to flash fastboot ROM through Mi Flash tool (I don't know which version you have, but maybe try this one: Xiaomi Flash Tool Download - Download Xiaomi Mi Flash Latest Version )
Actually, if you flashed TWRP, aren't you able to boot into it in any way? Nor from fastboot, nor through key combo?
I think I downloaded the correct ones, but I had to change the browser (chrome did not want to start download) I may have made a mistake. I am downloading from the site that you send me now and will try again. I tried flashing TWRP again, but when I try go to in - the phone goes back to fastboot
The version of the flashing tool is: MiFlash2020-3-14-0
I tried with the latest from this site, but I get an error when clicking "refresh" button.

Well, "umi" codename means Mi 10, and that would explain the error message. Anyway, try the latest fastboot ROM from Xiaomi Flash Tool Download - Download Xiaomi Mi Flash Latest Version , you should be able to flash it

Question [HELP] I keep failing trying to flash a custom Android 12 ROM on the Redmi Note 11 Pro (veux). Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

I've owned Samsung, Lenovo and Moto phones before, and I never had any problems unlocking them and flashing custom recoveries and ROMs. This is my 2nd Xiaomi phone and like the 1st I keep bricking and unbricking it. The only thing I can manage to do is sometimes get TWRP on it, or the normal ROM.

1st attempt:
1 - After unlocking the bootloader it reinstalled a clean ROM. I then forgot to turn USB debugging on so that was my fault. Because after that I went into fastboot and flashed this TWRP with fastboot flash boot name.img
2 - On this first try I then rebooted to recovery, but it sent me to the normal one instead. In essence I bricked it so I followed this guide to reset it
___
2nd attempt:
1 - I enable USB debugging
2 - go into fastboot: fastboot flash boot name.img
3 - reboot to recovery
4 - in TWRP I try to flash the ROM from the internal storage. It fails after around 33% or something. Errors about not being able to mount certain folders
___
3rd attempt:
1 - reboot to recovery
2 - try and sideload the ROM from my laptop with the command adb sideload name.zip
3 - fails around 40% with similar errors
___
4th attempt:
1 - reboot to bootloader
2 - try instead fastboot boot name.zip to flash the ROM. It gives me the error: requested download size is more than max allowed fastboot
___
In between these tries TWRP sometimes loses touchscreen functionality. I notice when I flash OrangeFox and then TWRP again, I get touchscreen functionality back. I know this is a well known issue but it's interesting I can back TWRP working again when doing the above.
Another interesting is that when I flash OrangeFox and reboot to recovery, it's still TWRP.
When you flash a new ROM, you need to format the userdata and the cache partitions.
EDIT:
Btw, i'm curious to know where you found your OrangeFox build. ^^

I believe I did format data, cache and dalvik cache as usual. Hm, will check again.
I forgot where I got the OrangeFox from. Might be nothing though.

Btw, i do not recommand to flash unofficial images if the maintainer not released it's device tree on GitHub and not linked it on his thread.
We can't know what's inside the recovery.
The recovery can be infected by a malicious code.

So I made sure to format everything this time. But because I am stoopid I then accidentally sideloaded a MIUI ROM instead of Evolution. I copy/pasted the wrong file name in the cmd window, lol. I was surprised to see the Evolution logo after rebooting, so I got the ROM I wanted by accidentally flashing the other one.
Do I have MIUI on one partition and Evolution on the other? Is that even possible?

From here, i recommand you to ask the maintainer of the Evolution X ROM of your device.
Send him your device infos (code name, processor, etc...).
If you can't access to these info on from phone, contact the reseller of your phone.
Maybe your specific device is not compatible with the ROM.
I'm not enough experienced to help you more.
I don't know if twrp works on veux.
I flashed the boot.img and vendor_boot.img provided by the custom ROM.
The custom ROM was updated using the sideload in recovery mode.
It must be unlocked. USB debug doesn't matter.

I'm fine now, the ROM works, afterwards I also installed Magisk successfully so TWRP works as expected too.

It does, the one I linked in my first post is the one from this specific subforum.
If you need help you can PM me.
Seems like you've managed to fix the problem, and USB debugging only works when you're booted inside the rom, it doesn't do anything in recovery/fastboot.

USB debugging works in some stock/custom recoveries, but in stock recoveries it is limited to sideloading updates signed by the device manufacturer.
