Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus(SM-G928C) “Invalid Kernel Lenght” issue - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
My S6 Edge Plus 32GB was functioning properly when i left it in a box for a while. After then, when i tried to boot it, it just showed a white screen and said “Could not do normal boot. Invalid Kernel Lenght!”. I tried to go to recovery mode yet it was not possible. Only i can do is to open download mode, but neither pc nor odin didn’t detect the phone at all. Plus, it was saying “FRP LOCK: on” I downloaded up to date Samsung Usb Drivers from the original source, but didn’t fix the issue either. Now I have a phone which i can not do any further action. What should i do friends?
(Battery was replaced with a replica one before. It opens up as i plug it and stays open without cable for a while then dies. Nothing changed other than original battery, and haven’t rooted before.)
Thank you!

sounds somewhat curious to me (but as I said: I'm no expert)
What *I* would suggest: "get the phone in a sane state"
1.
- read about "developer Mode"
- I'm unsure if debug mode is needed to flash stock or that the phone is seen by the PC
2.
- fix your PC, so that the phone is seen by PC

Hi,
The issue is, i can not boot the phone. If i were able to do it, of course i would sign in to my Google account and remove the lock with the help of the guide you attached. So, there is an endless loop unfortunately.
Thank you.

Okay, I missed that.
But you're able to boot to download mode.
if so, try to flash TWRP recovery and with that format the partitions and flash stock
don't know if that helps regarding FRP, but maybe for the boot problem

So here is the update
I got a new cable. Odin detected my phone. But it got stuck at system.img with stock firmware. I tried many other odin versions. I tried different USB ports. Nothing changed. It gets stuck at something and can’t fix unfortunately. It showed a partition error as well. I tried a 4part repair firmware with a pit file, didn’t work. I tried a pit file with official firmware, didn’t work. I tried a boot_recovery file, didn’t work. I tried to load TWRP, didn’t work.
Here are the list of options I tried:
1-Stock firmware
2-TWRP firmware
3-Pit files
4-Repair firmware
5-Boot_recovery file
Here are the list of stuck positions at trials(mixed):
1-System.img
2-Nand Write Start!!
3-There is no pit partition
4-Re-partition operation failed.
5- Complete(Write) operation failed.
I think I’ve seen every error code can ever be seen through odin
Smart Switch didn’t helped either. Detects the phone but don’t list it on emergency list.
So now, for me, I ran out of options… Odin variable tested. Cable is working properly. Pc is running properly.
From now on I don’t care if it dies, so don’t hesitate, it’s dead already for me, why not to try other things huh. Any further suggestions for me to give it a try?
By the way, a repairguy said it’s bricked and he might try to fix it with JTAG, yet if EMMC chip is dead there is nothing left he can do.

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 p3100 bootloader question

I have read numerous threads on how to unlock the bootloader, however after the GTab2 7.0 p3100 is/was updated to JB 4.1.2 (VRBMI1), there is nothing i have found after a few days of looking and reading. Is this bootloader locked and no way to flash a custom ROM to it? Obviously, if this is a ridiculously dumb question, then I apologize in advance and the thread should be deleted. I just really would like to flash something really minimal to the 2 GTab2's that I have laying around to use them as home automation tablets in a couple of infrequently visited areas of my house. The stock ROM is really slow imho.
I do realize this is a very old tablet so it may be just too old to do anything with, regardless thanks very much for any help in this!
If you didn't buy it from a carrier and such, it's unlocked
Its from verizon and to the best of my knowledge, it is locked. Whats the best way to be certain of this?
To check if your bootloader is locked: install adb and fastboot to your computer as well as the proper drivers, boot your tab into download mode (power+volume down) and connect it to the computer with usb cable. Open a command prompt and type "fastboot devices" (without the quotes). If everything is right you will see your tab listed. Now for the check type "fastboot getvar unlocked" (again without the quotes). If the result is yes, your bootloader is unlocked.
Ok, so I already had adb/fastboot and odin 3 v 3.12 installed. Odin3 sees the device in both on and download states. adb doesnt see it at all in either mode. Windows 10 is my OS... Device manager see the tab unplug and plug in each time and I have used multiple USB ports as well. Any ideas? Chuck the tabs in the trash perhaps?
Trash is not a good idea It's probably a driver issue. Check that you have installed the adb/fastboot drivers, maybe there is an update to some driver you haven't done or seen yet. Also, try to install for your tab specifically the adb driver through the device manager (I don't know much about windows 10 so I can't tell you exactly how to do it, perhaps right-click on the tab or from some menu).
EDIT: Since odin works, try to install twrp with it. If it fails it's locked and you need fastboot to unlock it.
Thanks for the reply,
I have reinstalled the latest adb drivers in addition to getting the latest platform-tool download for adb and fastboot - the GTab2 shows up in the device manager when plugged in. When the Tab is on, I can see it (adb devices) return a device ID. When I put the GTab2 into download mode, it does not see the device (fastboot devices). I have read that fastboot may not always return a device ID so I tried to enter the command 'fastboot getvar unlocked' and it just hangs waiting for me to plug in a device. This happens for both of the GTab2 that I have. At least I am consistent in my failure. lol
One interesting thing is that when plugged into USB in the device manager the GTab2 shows up in 2 locations when turned on. Under Modems (SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem #4 ) and under SAMSUNG Android Phone (SAMSUNG Android ADB interface). In download mode, the device shows up only as a modem? Odd.
On one device, I installed twrp as advised and when I try to boot into recovery it now states "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone.
Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help." ~meh
In download mode it now shows a custom binary download of 1 count lol - looks like I am really needing fastboot to work for me. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

look at the last 2 posts of the thread. all download links are dead since 1 year.
the best scenario for you. someone can help you out with the files. then you can install a damn old twrp recovery. with that you can backup your current system. nothing more.
there is no up to date twrp and no available rom for this device.
in this case unlocking the bootloader makes no sense, i think.
I appreciate the help for sure. I wont waste any more time on these tabs.

Accidentally wiped phone system OS using TWRP; how can I fix this?

I have basic to medium experience relating to rooting, fastboot, Odin, flashing, etc.
I accidentally wiped my phone's OS. My phone is a Samsung S5 Neo SM-903W with no root and no unlocked bootloader but with TWRP installed. My OS was Android 6.0.1
I tried downloading the stock firmware of Android 6 and flashing it using an SD card; TWRP said it was an invalid zip file and did not find an md5 ( even though it was the only file in the zip)
When I am in TWRP, my laptop recognizes me as "Samsung Mobile MTP Device" but when I am in download mode, my phone is not recognized at all. I think that I need to flash drivers on my phone, but I have no idea how to do so, and if so, how can I flash an "invalid zip file" onto my phone?
Please help me, or at least give me some advice.
Thanks (I'm an idiot for experimenting with advanced wipe )

The stock firmware cannot be flashed with TWRP. It is built to be flashed with Odin.
If there is a stock firmware that has been converted into a custom recovery flashable zip, you can flash that in TWRP, it has to be converted from the Odin flashable firmware though, it can't be the actual downloaded firmware, it isn't compatible with recovery. This is only if such a file is available or if you learn to convert the firmware yourself.
The easiest thing would be to get your device recognized with Odin while in download mode so you can flash the firmware, this should restore your device. Try installing the USB drivers for Samsung phones from here:
http://www.samsungusbdrivers.net/2016/12/samsung-galaxy-s5-neo-usb-driver-for.html?m=1
Flashing the stock firmware via Odin will also remove TWRP and replace it with stock recovery, you'll have to flash TWRP again.

The thing is, I installed TWRP via Odin, so I know there was (or is) nothing wrong with the drivers on my laptop, but after the system wipe, my phone could only be recognized by Odin if it was charging through it or if I was at TWRP. (the 0:COM indicator was pink, not green) I will try the method you mentioned, but if I have any difficulties I will come back here.
Thanks.

I have a problem.
Since Samsung Drivers were already installed, I re-installed it by running the installer and prompting it to install it again. The problem is, when I try updating my "Samsung Mobile MTP Device"'s drivers, they say that the drivers installed are already at the latest version. I tried this several times, with a different type of drivers like ADB, and it still said that they were the latest (which is Samsung Mobile MTP Device).

Try installing Kies, it automatically installs Samsung drivers correctly.
But make sure kies is completely closed and not running in the background when using Odin, it interferes.

Odin can't write system.img file

Hi guys!
My friend's s7 suddenly stopped working and he couldn't get it back to boot again, as it remained stuck on the samsung logo. He said he tried factory resetting it through the recovery and even that didn't work out.
I got his phone to try and reflash the stock android so it would work again. I downloaded the last build on sammobile and tried to flash it with Odin on the standard settings. However I can't get it to write the system.img file. I tried flashing BL, CP, CSC and the AP without the system.img file and it worked. So I'm pretty sure there is something i'm missing on the process.
Can any of you help me?
Phone is all stock and doesn't have the usb debugging or OEM unlocked options enabled
Thanks!

It's a SM-G930F from Brazil. I'm able to get into download mode, however, the Enable OEM unlock and USB debugging options weren't enabled by my friend before the phone crashed.
I tried flashing the most recent update from sammobile:

Hello
The firmware you are using is correct.
Use the patched version of Odin in this post >>>here<<< It ignores device missmatches and other errors, just installs the firmware.
One more thing is FRP lock on? You can see in download mode.

Hello, yes to use Smart Switch recovery the phone has to be in download mode. If the phone has ever been rooted it will not work.
There are guides on how to use Smart Switch to recover the phone it's very easy, so try this first.
https://www.blogtechtips.com/2017/06/24/easily-restore-samsung-device-firmware-with-smart-switch
If Smart Switch doesn't work you can only flash the exact same firmware that was on the phone when it crashed. This is because FRP lock is on. Once this is done you will need to verify the email and password of the Google account that the phone uses to access Play Store etc.
The golden rule with any Android phone ,TURN OFF FRP lock, it's an absolute nightmare to fix a phone when it's on and a really stupid security feature.

Hi! I've tried usiing different versions on the last few days, starting from the most recent, and all of them either failed to write on system.img or were blocked by the phone becaus the binary on the phone was newer.
I also tried SmartSwitch but it couldn't recognize the phone still.
Is there anything else I can try? Do you think samsung may be able to fix it?

[REQ] Unihertz Titan Stuck in Bootloop

Okay here's where all this started https://www.facebook.com/groups/130...61465&ref=notif&notif_t=group_comment_mention
Windows and Android Drivers are always a bothersome attempt at trying to get to work properly. Always with a hiccup.
I formated a new laptop with Windows 7 64 Bit Sp1
It still acts as though I don't have a bootloader, recovery menu or chinese mediatek diagnostics menu.
Phone is just constantly looping off and on, in SP Flash Tool it'll timeout. I let the battery drain yesterday and did get a full battery and the green circle.
Me and Nomi (the developer of the rom) tried everything yesterday and he even said he hasn't seen anything like it before, but had driver issues before too.
I'd believe it's still got USB Debugging and looks to still be OEM Bootloader Unlocked as I have the text on the bootscreen.
Just trying to think of anything else I can do, as unihertz hasn't answered my email since yesterday afternoon at 2.
But this seems to be a common problem as you'll see in this reddit:

Are you needing help or you solved the bootloop?
I'll find out when I get home from work this morning Unihertz did finally reply to my email at 3am
I'm going to try in both Ubuntu and Windows as they have me tute's and files for both.
On that and the windows note can anyone recommend which driver version works best doesn't matter if it's 7 or 10, so long as it's 64Bit supported.

Obviusly you only need flash stock recovery.img as your device has A9.
For Custom Recovery like TWRP maybe I can ask my friend to help you. If - you still TWRP want?!
Where's the link for that I'll try and see as even with a reply from Unihertz and new files I'm still running into the same error. Where constant looping and when plugged in attempting to flash the factory firmware it times out with a red Download DA bar loading at 100% in seconds and then two minutes later timing out and giving me error code 0xXC0010005.
RN I don't think it'd be possible to get it to stay in bootloader or on long enough to fully do the ADB or Powershell twrp.img flash, interestingly enough I did find MTK Droid Tools v2.5.3B has a rewrite boot and recovery option and askes for the img before proceeding and I didn't do anything else after that though cause it wants a .prm as for a scatter file. Oh and it has ADB builtin to the program.

Search in the internet How install MTK drivers, specially in the Win7. Better in Win10 and if you as that so the drivers [link] is much better, You can try installing that file but need reboot your computer. After try flash with SPFT.
Don't choose FORMAT+ALL or any option with FORMAT+........
Win7 need more effort to start drivers for Mediatek devices!
You can try pressing constantly the VOL - button when put USB for SPFT work.
The issue I keep running into here is no matter how charged the battery is, it won't stay power up long enough to even attempt to correctly install the drivers. (I think at least, still don't ever see a unknown device in other devices), if I could get that far I'd probably stand a chance of recovering it.

We often don't realize that certain errors are normal on our machine. So the question is to test in others computers.
But there are possibilities of company blocks or even something that has happened on the phone without it really should happen.
Some interesting cases:
1- I noticed with the image you showed about trying to flash all the firmware.
** So even if you have tried the Download only or Firmware Upgrade options, the question remains if you tried to flash only the recovery.img file? Obviously you can have the same error in SPFT?!
2- Cases of hardware vs software that match the use and characteristics found such as restarting the PC and trying to flash in a different USB port. Same problem?!: Drivers are resolved?!
The biggest case of suggesting something or thinking that this or that is a problem wastes precious time. Confirm the main steps!:
1- Driver correctly installed and working;
2- Driver works: Different USB PORT tested;
3- SPFT version must be tested. Mainly previous versions to confirm the error message that persists or may disappear;
4- Phone particularities: pressing the VOL buttons for a while can trigger the preloader that is responsible for the connection between the SPFT and your phone on the computer. Switching to VOL+ or Power or VOL- with VOL+ or VOL+ VOL - and Power may solve or confirm the non-solution.
Best way: Win10 with driver updates. Find the way to disable unsigned driver installations. But you can use this driver and you must restart your computer for it to take effect.
Make sure the USB port has a speed feature for the flashing process. Example: All USB ports are 2.0 only and SPFT asks for a USB 3.0 port to make the connection.
With everything confirmed the rest is something to question in relation to having the correct firmware file or the device itself having blocked the installation process due to a drastic change in the preloader or something that has changed and is blocking it.
Look previous posts about that so all depends on what you have and how you use it.
Unfortunately everyone (including me) who went through bad times like the one you have now, has a headache because it's a simple process and doesn't know what to do. But on the other hand, it's a huge learning experience when we solve it.
But there is still a choice without a headache: take it to a technical assistance and pay for it!
No on drivers when it goes to do the typical windows installation with the installation boxes in the upper left corner, I keep getting red x's.
I'm letting it charge some more and tomorrow trying again on my windows 7 laptop, as I think I'm also getting hung up on disabling driver signatures on windows 10 laptop. IDK if it's cause I'm dual booting JingOS 0.9 and that cancels out F7 or what the hang up is on that part.
In all honesty I think you'll end up finding that the only way to recover it is by removing and reprogramming the nand in a proper programmer.

Would that also be done in SP Flash Tool or another software? I've also got these MTK tools.
Okay a little bit of progress and interesting discovery of errors...
Upon extracting a rom from wherever in zip format, in at least 7zip it gets as far as boot.img and then has an error extracting that.
I discovered this by finding Miracle Flash Tool and clicked on Android tab, loaded the scatter file and it took and accepted it and then said boot.img missing please load and pulled up a selection window.
IDK SP Flash Tool never said that. I got drivers to work once and then rebooted now can't get them to work again keeps saying unrecognized usb device. At least it's a bit of progress.

If you have more drivers for others phones like samsumg, motorola, lg, etc so remove that's and reboot computer. Install again MTK Drivers, UAC permissions and reboot computer. Test SPFT.
But here a good video to see and may be can fix - confirm driver issue in Win7:

Cant get Walmart Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro into download mode

So I worked for Walmart for a while.
They gave me this free phone. See below.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/walmart-free-smartphones-employee-schedules/
The phone was locked out by Walmart for inactivity. (See image for details)
I fixed that with a hard factory reset from the recovery menu.
I was given explicit permission to KEEP the phone after I stopped working there. The phone thinks it's still part of the organization.
Ive downloaded a firmware file for the specific model ( SM-G715U1 ) so I can flash it and use it, but the device will not enter download mode.
I'm beginning to think its not possible.
I have access to developer options. I have access to adb. I have access to the recovery menu.
'adb reboot download' result:
Ive tried every button combination imaginable repeatedly.
Reboot to bootloader from the recovery menu just reboots the phone to lock screen like normal.
Have also tried:
Remove battery and reinstall (unplugged from PC) Press the Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power Button(All 3 on right side) at the same time.
And several variations of button combinations and plugging into PC. (Volume up + Volume down + plug into phone) Does not work...
Also Note that Samsung 300K Tool does not work, phone reboots like normal (No Download Mode).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I have not. I ordered a micro USB to type C adapter and I'm going to connect it to an old fastboot cable and see what happens. It should get here soon. Today or tomorrow.
(Update)
the fastboot cable through the USB C adapter makes the phone thinks the cable has water damage or something. Gives me a warning about foreign material detected or something like that. Other than that the phone either shows up as "offline" in adb or doesn't show up at all. So I think that's a dead end.
Same problem here. any luck.? im very new to all this. was hoping to remove all the walmart crap and install custom rom
any help would b awesome

Asking users to contact you privately for solutions is frowned upon by XDA. If you share your solution publicly, it will benefit all.

Some Samsung devices require and different amount of resistance, older devices require 300K, others require 301K and some may require a different amount than these two values.
Samsung won't recognize a fastboot cable because they aren't compatible with fastboot.
UPDATE:
So I FINALLY got it into download mode.
Its 3AM and I couldn't tell you how I did it even if I wanted to.
If I had to guess... Id say I did random sequences of factory resets, cache wipes, and partial set ups...
Eventually I manged to get into fastboot mode by going to "Reboot Bootloader" from recovery menu. It said "Entering Fastboot.." in green letters and thats about as far as it gets. It shows up under "Fastboot devices" in ADB but it doesn't let you do anything. Apparently Fastboot mode doesnt work on Samsung Devices...
Anyways, on a whim I tried the Samsung 300K Tool once again during a reboot and I was successful. Im now in Download Mode on the Walmart Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro.
UNFORTUNATELY... I'm now faced with another roadblock.
I cant flash anything with ODIN because it says it is KG Locked and wont let me flash anything...
I assume KG means Knox Guard.
Currently looking for a workaround.
Any help from this point on would be greatly appreciated. For now its random Youtube videos and XDA tutorials as usual. SMH.
For a month now, I've been trying to remove the IT Admin account, work profile, FRP, and now KG lock. I've managed to get the phone into recovery and download mode, even though I can't flash due to the bootloader being locked.
It also hang on the entering Fastboot when rebooting to it.
I've found working scripts, and a lot of iffy bypass tools. The scripts work though, and the phone is at least operational with no IT lock popping up.
It's like every $$$$%^% tool I find is for every phone but mine.... go figure.
I still would like to remove KG and root.

Could you please help me with the IT bypass? As you can see I have FRP off. I would also like Root but like you I'll settle for what I can get for the time being so that the phone isn't just some expensive paperweight.
Crazy I have been working on this same thing for the past few months, started screwing with it again a few nights ago. good luck
I read somewhere it might be possible with a PIT file and Combination ROM? Not sure. I have no experience with Combination ROMs.
3rd-party Service Centers use Miracle Box to do everything related to flashing Factory Firmwares & Rooting :-/
seems pretty messed up that they never asked me for the equipment back, took money from my last check automatically for the device and now that it's "mine" I can't even use it for anything because it's all locked up with knox
