Wiped OS, cannot process past bootloader - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I wiped my OS and was having issues installing a custom ROM through TWRP. My phone rebooted and now I'm stuck in the bootloader and unable to get back into TWRP. I've tried using fastboot, but that also fails:
Code:
~\Downloads\TWRP>fastboot boot twrp-3.5.2_9-0-enchilada.img
Sending 'boot.img' (32604 KB) OKAY [ 0.823s]
Booting FAILED (remote: 'Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Is there some way I can recover (even if back to stock), or am I screwed?
Thanks

You can revive any ROM mate. All you need is patience and a small knowledge in debugging the error.
If you are stuck on Bootloader. Try flashing rom on both slots from bootloader directly
Below link has process to do so
[ROM][STOCK][FASTBOOT][OP6] Stock Fastboot ROMs for OnePlus 6
Things are changing with the advent of project treble and seamless updates. OnePlus will no longer release ROMs flashable via stock recovery (with twrp is possible but not recommended). The updates will be done on the slot not used for example...
forum.xda-developers.com
If you can boot to recovery, try flashing roms directly by downloading stock roms. If you get stuck, try postng error message with screenshot using another mobile.

[Q] Moto G stuck in boot loop

This started with a brand new Boost Mobile Moto G (XT1031).
It was taken right from the box and unlocked using oem unlock.
After the unlock it booted to the stock image then was powered off and booted to fastboot.
Once in fastboot TWRP 2.7.1.0 recovery was flashed.
When trying to boot into recovery it would only loop.
Tried to boot normally and it would only loop.
Flashed the device back to stock using all the available firmwares from sbf.droid-developers.org for Boost US and it still wont boot.
Tried other recovery images and the only one I was able to get working was Philz Touch 6.55.
Wiped and formated everything and rebooted the phone and it went straight to recovery.
Using Philz recovery tried to install CyanogenMod 11 and bool loop proceeded.
I took another working Moto G and flashed Philz recovery and made a back up onto a usb drive using an otg cable.
On the broken device tried to restore from the backup and it said it was completed but it ran way to fast and didn't seem to restore completely and failed to boot.
I've gone through every method of recovery i could find and nothing seems to be working
This phone is kicking my butt, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I ran the bootloader refresh after modifying the bat file for the correct cpu.
The boot loader version is showing it was updated but the device is still not booting.
[EDIT] I did try to reflash the stock frimware and there where some erros i wasnt getting before
Code:
C:\falcon_boost_user_4.4.2>mfastboot.exe flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
sending 'aboot' (512 KB)...

On a whim I decided to try the retail firmware and was able to get the phone to boot to stock, but I tried to load TWRP again and it went back to the boot looping state.
I really don't understand what is wrong with this phone because this are for the company I work for and we have flash about a thousand this exact same way and have never ran into this issue.
I am going to try philz recovery to see if it cause the normal boot process to break and if not I try loading the a custom rom from there.

Pretty normal, you got errors because you upgraded the bootloader to the last version, so you can't downgrade it. Now you can: try to flash the 4.4.2 stock boost version (without flashing gpt.bin and motoboot.img) or if doesn't work due to upgraded bootloader, just wait few days until the 4.4.4 firmware for boost will be downloadable. It's already realeased don't worry, look https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/indevice_detail/a_id/100754/p/30,6720,9050
EDIT: It's a boost version, it's pretty different... You can't flash whatever you want so easily... search for some guide, I can't help about boost version.
The boost 4.4.2 stock firmware failed but the retail version worked, I'm try that with philz recovery to see if I can get CM 11 to work. If that fails ill wait for the 4.4.4 boost firmware.
Thanks for the help
I know some people love TWRP and only use TWRP and some people only use ClockWorkMod Recovery, but since you've been trying with TWRP humour me and flash this, it's the latest ClockWorkMod Recovery 6.0.5.0 compiled from source.
Flash it then try to flash a CM nightly or something like that...clear cache and dalvik cache first then do a factory reset then flash.

I downloaded your recovery image and flashed it, wiped everything and reset.
Installed cm-11-20140903-NIGHTLY-falcon from usbdisk, it said completed only after ~20 seconds but there where no errors.
Rebooted the device and the cyanogenmod animated boot logo was displayed.
The phone booted fine was is working, now to try and see if I can get my image loaded.
Thanks for the recommendation, I didn't think to try CWM since Philz recovery is based on it, but it failed to load CM 11.

Failed to load/authenticate boot image:

Need some help here as I am in a bit of a bind. Was on 5.1.11 and attempted to update to stable Pie. Used Blu_Spark TWRP v2 and upon rebooting got the error about device being corrupted. Continued booting but was stuck on boot animation. Rebooted to TWRP and attempted to restore nandroid. Upon restoring and reboot, boots immediately to TWRP. Attempt to change slots (which might have been an error on my part) and rebooted. Now stuck in fastboot! I attempt to flash TWRP.img via fastboot and get the following error:
Code:
PS D:\OnePlus 6\adb> fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-enchilada_official.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.628s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)
finished. total time: 0.650s
If I try and switch to slot _b, I get the following error:
Code:
PS D:\OnePlus 6\adb> fastboot --set-active=_b
C:\Android\fastboot.exe: unknown option -- set-active=_b
PS D:\OnePlus 6\adb>
At the moment, my phone is bricked, so any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I had the same, fixed it using this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6-t3796665
Choose the Andriod PIE fastboot rom.
After that you can boot into PIE again, and if you want to go back to Oreo, use this Rollback procedure

Stuck in fastboot after using fastboot rom

One plus 7 pro, European version
So i was running Lineage OS on my phone for some time now (latest base update i did was to ob1 as far as i am aware), when there was an update lately
I installed it as normal, but the phone would not get past the boot animation and kept restarting, so i went back to the other slot to see if that still worked, but it only had a laggy boot animation, which never booted
I then installed the previous version that i was running before the update back to the other slot, hoping it would solve the problem of not booting (that worked before already) but it still did not boot
I saw someone post they had 10.3 installed as base so i restored the ob1 installation with a fastboot rom i still had on my hard drive, but upon finishing the phone just went into crash dump mode showing
dm-verity device corrupted force dump
kernel_restart
I tried another install just to be sure, but same result
I then tried flashing twrp to the boot partition to at least get there, but the phone just went straight to fastboot upon doing that
Fastboot boot still seems broken and just shows
D:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot boot tw.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.228s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)
finished. total time: 1.346s
I searched around if there were other ways to install twrp from fastboot, and found this tool (https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...g/apk-img-dat-br-one-click-decompile-t3886057) that promises to unpack and repack the boot.img, so i hoped i could use that to manually add twrp to it, but it failed to unpack the file
Next thing i found was this MSM tool post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/msm-tool-guac-t3934691) instructed to hold volume up and down for 5 seconds before connecting the phone to a pc, and the program actually picked it up, however the phone started itself after a few seconds and went back to crashdump mode
At this point i'm seriously out of ideas, does anyone else have other ideas that i missed?
Does anyone have a boot img with twrp?
keep trying the MSM tool. it WILL work.
if you can get into fastboot again, type in fastboot reboot edl in ADB

This is indeed what typically shows for an error when fastboot boot isn't working. Probably due to using an older fastboot ROM. I'd try to use a newer fastboot ROM, or you can flash a patched boot image, which is how the phone was being rooted before fastboot boot was fixed:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...isk-patched-boot-image-oneplus-7-pro-t3964345
If I recall correctly, you can't fastboot boot with android 10.

ruined my phone?

hello guys
was trying some custom roms and i dont know how but now my phone wont go into twrp, wont go in fastboot mode, nothing.
i tryed TOOL ALL IN ONE, and when i try to load TWRP i get

Sending 'boot.img' (28376 KB) OKAY [ 0.599s]
Booting FAILED (remote: 'Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Waiting the TWRP boots...
if i try to use MsmDownloadTool V4.0 it wont find my phone, cause i cant load the driver, cause i cant put it in fastboot mode :S
i think i already lost everything on the phone, but at this point fu*k it, i just want it to work again...anyone can help me?

You forgot to flash TWRP after flashing a ROM.
Code:
fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-16-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img
instead of
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-16-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img
will save you.

[SOLVED] Android Recovery Factory Reset not effective (rooted, bootloader unlocked)

Hi,
I backed up my kernel using TWRP by fastbooting into the Pixel 3 blueline TWRP image. When I then tried to reboot the phone I get following error:
"Android Recovery
google/blueline/blueline
9/PI/gucheng0719045
userdebug/dev-keys
...
Can't load Android system."
I tried both options "try again" and "factory data reset" but both brought me back to this screen. I also tried booting into recovery mode and doing "Wipe data factory reset"; this also brought me back to the above error.
Finally, I tried installing OTA using sideload but the signature verification failed since I have an unlocked bootloader and had custom ROM running on the device.
How can I get the device into a usable state again? I don't care about keeping the data. Also note that I still have the TWRP kernel backup saved.

Where can I get the factory image? And how do I use fastboot to flash the device? Like so?:
Code:
fastboot boot <image name>.img
I am able to fastboot boot into the blueline TWRP image. Selecting the "Fix bootloop" didn't work however
So I tried doing:
Code:
fastboot flash boot bootloader-blueline-b1c1-0.1-5578427.img
I got following error though:
Sending 'boot_a' (8493 KB) OKAY [ 0.130s]
Writing 'boot_a' (bootloader) Flashing Pack version b1c1-0.1-5578427
FAILED (remote: '(boot_a) No such partition')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Any suggestions on how to proceed?

That command flashes only the boot loader, not the factory image. The factory image and instructions for flashing are at https://developers.google.com/android/images
What android version were you on when you started? TWRP does not run on a Pixel 3 with Android 10.
Also, the boot partition is not the bootloader partition. Just run the flash-all script that google provides with the factory image download.

I was using Android 9. I tried running the flash-all script (i.e., follow the official instructions) but the fastboot commands would hang. Maybe I just didn't wait for long enough.
I wiped system, data, cache using TWRP following some online guide and now I can't boot into recovery mode. I can get into the bootloader menu though. When I try to boot into TWRP using:
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.0-0-blueline.img
I get the following error on the PC: Booting FAILED (remote: 'Error calling AvbLoadAndVerifyBootImages Load Error')
When I try to enter recovery mode the screen turns black indefinitely.
I still have the TWRP .win files from my backup on my PC. Is there a way out of this?
EDIT:
Weirdly, after trying the flash-all.sh script again it worked basically instantly. Possibly it took so long the first time i ran it because it was wiping data (which i then did manually).
Was able to get the factory image on there. Thanks a lot!
