Is it worth updating to Oxygen 11? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Currently rooted and xxxnolimits installed and magisk and twrp installed and working fine.
Now getting notified about updating but I'm hesitant. Doesn't seem to be many Roms for android 11 and not sure if Magisk compatible with 11
So for any 7 pro users is it best to stick with 10 until more roms come on board and more app compatible
Cheers

Here are a few things that I will consider before upgrading;
Changelog of the new vendor update.
Any specefic feature that I am in desperate need off and vendor finally relased it.
Magisk support as a rooting method. Modules, meh..
Obviously kernel patches.
You mentioned xXx NoLimit ROM, as per my knowledge it is OTA independent. If I were you, I wouldn't just upgrade, why?
Magisk support for new oos11 is limited.
It's probably early builds, lot of bugs ready to jump out in the wild.
Wait for a while, let 1 or 2 roms surface, let vendor fix ___ glitch in ___ iface. And what do you know, a quick google query brings up some nice corpses from vendor's closet..!

Yeah seems the scales tip to the remain as is
If it ain't broke no need to fix it
Still getting notifications to update
Is there a compatible version of twrp and Magisk for os11
Also any os11 roms worth keeping an eye on any posts or updates
Cheers

No don't update to Android 11.. Its too buggy and eating battery life

Twrp is not available for android 11, but magisk is.
If you're rooted, freeze the system update app so that you stop getting notifications.
And, most people are waiting to upgrade since 11 and 11.0.2 aren't quite perfect or way different yet.

[Help] SuHide Bootloop CM13

After countless hours of attempting to install SuHide together with the latest SuperSU v2.78 SR1 on my Oneplus One I've given up. I've also tried SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3.
This used to work before just fine, I'm trying to do this on "cm-13.0-20161220-SNAPSHOT-ZNH5YAO3XH-bacon" ROM. Is it because of the ROM that I keep getting a bootloop?
Because I used to install this just fine, on nightlies. Though I can no longer download those. :/ (If anyone could provide me a nightly before the november security update, you'd be a saint. I suspect this is the issue.)
Many thanks.
I had that problem, too and I'm running on a AOSP build NOF26W. You can also find it here in the One Development forum. If you're using suhide for snapchat, try out to install and log in the app before rooting. It solved the problem for me. Maybe also for other apps than snapchat. Don't know what causes the problem though... Hope that helped a little! Cheers

I'm trying to play Pokémon Go with root switch, it worked before but since the november Android update it's been killed off. Might you have a Nightly before the november update of CM 13?
Thanks for the info btw.

I was running CM14 before, but I don't have the nightly anymore... I suggest using Magisk as Superuser App instead of SuperSU. It comes with integrated hide option, so you won't run into the suhide problem.

Anyone tried Xpose on HTC U11?

Hello, everyone, is there anyone ever tried Xposed on HTC U11?
Earlier today, I saw there's someone posted pics showing Xposed working on HTC M9 and 10 with Nougat 7.1.2 on Weibo (A Chinese social media), and someone replied it also worked on HTC U11. I searched on XDA and found the following thread for the unofficial Xposed released for Nougat, saying the available versions are:
-Xposed SDK25 ARM64
-Xposed SDK25 ARM
-Xposed SDK25 X86
Here is the original thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-nougat-sdk-25-arm64-t3639221
So I just wanna know if anyone tried it on HTC U11, is there any bugs or bootloop problems?
If nobody ever tried, I would try it these two days, and anyone who ever used Xposed, please give some advise to me to avoid potential risk since I've been not using android for a long time and never sideloaded any Xposed frame.
@altimax98 had and didn't seem to be too fond about it

Yeah I wouldnt use it. It started with random apps I was not even using force closing, like the dialer, FB Messenger, and Sync for Reddit. Then I rebooted and it kept rebooting from the lockscreen, but only back to the boot logo. It did that 3 times and then ran fine for a while, then the FC's started again.
Uninstalled it and all is back to normal.

Hmm anyone else tried to see if this working? I know it's still not stable.
installed in ViperU 1.5 rom and all of the things is worked.
No force close and not rondom reboot.
Use the last update and enjoy it.
No need to wait for rovo89 release.

Actually I'm using it now, I go to the thread I mentioned, chose the latest arm 64 sdk 25 version.
I'm using viper 1.5.0 and it works fine, I didn't get too much FC only magisk manager FC sometimes. Some modules are not compatible with Android N yet, you can search the list in Xposed forum.
But also remember to backup your data before flashing.
Good luck.

Hmm so those on viper seem to be in luck. Has anyone else used xposed on stock rom?
Still no one here with stock ROM trying Xposed mode?
any update on this? Is it usable now?
xposed for Oreo is released and now work in oreo u11

Custom Roms (Lineage etc)

Ahoi,
the guys from f(x)tec said they would send out some devices to developers of custom roms including lineage to help development of the rom. Did this already happen? Do lineage devs have the phone and did they start porting? Just curious if that happens at all. I'm hoping to put lineage on mine asap.
There are few developers who are making Lineage OS and Sailfish OS for Pro1. Chen showed some alpha build on Twitter previously. Also, devs has the source code since last month.

What I can confirm is that there are 2 senior developers has been working on Lineage OS since a while ago. And they've made some great progress. (All the credit goes to them)
They are awaiting for the official release and can move the porting project into the next stage I believe.
That's as far as I know, and again, it's a great work of Lineage community.
PS: When I tried to flash SFOS initial release onto Pro1 I need to flash a custom TWRP, which is I believe also from Lineage OS devs.

As a member of the proto guys, I can assure you that the fastboot images will get released quickly. We have the shipping firmware, maybe there'll be simply a website for that. A working TWRP exists, but keep in mind system-as-root limitations.

Backups require decryption support, but since it's a stock msm8998 platform you can expect that rather quickly. Sharing is what I'll leave to the original creators, we're informed about the shipment progress.

Don't suppose you have a link that could explain this to people who have no idea what you mean?
I think this has something to do with the fact that even as root in Android if you modify stuff in /system it doesn't stick after reboot. But I'm really only guessing and haven't bothered to read up on it yet.

System-as-root means that /system is mounted as /, but it also means that recovery is a part of boot image, so flashing it as the whole boot partition won't let you boot the system. There'll be a need for TWRP installer script.

Thanks for posting this. I've been unable to find any impressions as to the stability of these ROMs. Yes, they are testing roms, but IME there are testing roms and then there are testing roms.
Are these the former (unsupported but mostly stable) or the latter (you don't want any of your real data on it, will crash at random times and missing core functionality)?

Great to hear it TDM.
Cannot give you enough kudos after lurking in the lineageOS test forum thread and seeing all the work you have been doing.
I may even give AOKP a try once you've had a chance to look at it. Lineage is great but it's been years since the Halcyon days of having _multiple_ viable on-stock Androids!

Stock vs Lineage OS 18

Hi everyone,
I was thinking about rooting and flashing LineageOS on my Pixel but first I would like to know what you think is better.
I need the phone for work, I have my banking app, have to shot few pics ( I absolutely love GCam on this device ) and play games like clash royale and call of duty.
Is LineageOS somehow better? Is battery life better? What would and what wouldn't work? Are there big issues with that rom?
Let me know
I keep thinking the same thing , just wanting to try it , a person could go ahead and try it . I know with my 2 xl
it's pretty well indistinguishable from stock when you're using Lineage .. so I'd wait till support is over for the 4 xl and then go with lineage. I love the weekly updates...... silly probably ....just one of those things. As long as you don't ruin banking stuff . I don't think you do these days. Enjoy the days ...love these phones
Some banking app detect root even if you hide them with magisk. Its impossible afaik to get it to work while root. Id say stay stock since you're using it for work and banking.

The developer of Artemis kernel has an app now that disables root with a simple button press. Pretty cool! He has an updated kernel for Android 12 over on his tele group and also his APK that does this. Just push a button on an app and no su. Pretty neat!! One thing I've found is stock doesn't have near as good of battery as a rom does. Only way I can achieve such awesome battery life stock and stay stock is to flash a custom kernel. Current using Unicorn Blood kernel on PD rom and my phone sleeps 6 hours and is still at 100%! Can't do that stock. Maybe 4 hour's or so sleeping and at 100% but using another kennel and not stock kernel. I haven't tried to debloat stock yet and I do actually like it but battery is just not as good and I've always been a huge battery guru.

I've never understood the whole situation where banking apps detect magisk. It takes a few seconds to completely uninstall magisk and it has an option on the front of magisk manager to uninstall. If this was a thing for me I would just uninstall magisk really quick when I needed to use my bank app.. Then reinstall my parched boot.img when I was done or later that day once I arrived home and had two minutes to quickly fastboot it. No biggy!

Question Experiencing the same bugs in every Custom ROM I install

I've installed a variety of custom ROMs on my OP9 (EvolutionX, Nameless, Extended) and they all have the exact same problem: audio doesn't work properly, buggy, randomly would not connect to my Google account, etc. Since they all had the exact same issues, my guess is that it's a problem with my phone and not the ROMs themselves.
Does somebody know anything about the problem and what can I do to fix them? I'm fed up with OOS and would really like to use another ROM.
Ok everything you have listed is built from Lineage aosp. Therefore everything is gonna have same bug. If you notice the lemonade/p official lineage builds have stopped around the 12th and 14th of February .New ones are coming soon with merged patch that fixes all issues. Then devs from other roms will build on new fixed source and so on. Like throwing a pebble in a pond. Takes time for the ripple to get out. Watch lineage os website/downloads/op9
