Can someone help me change the amount of volume steps on a mediatek based device? - General Questions and Answers

I have Infinix zero 8 (android 10) and im trying to change the ammount of volume steps it has to no luck. It only has 15 steps system wide. Not the slider but the system itself only supports 15 volume steps unlike samsung phones for example with 100 steps in the system itself and 15 in the slider by default. Meaning that when using some app that would allow the volume to be changed with the increments of 1/100, samusung internet for example, then the volume would only change with the increments of 7/100 not 1/100 as it should. It might sound confusing, cause it is. Ive also tried changing the ammount of volume steps using https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/module-volume-steps-increase-for-magisk-v10.3554996/ and also gravitybox. They dont work as intended. They do add more steps to the volume slider itself, but dont fix that system wide issue of only having 15 volume steps. When volume steps are increased to 30 for example then the volume slider works the same as before from the steps 1-15 and then going past that it loops back to 0 and goes up from there. Meaning that steps 1-15 and 16-30 are exactly the same. No actual increase in volume steps. Been having that problem since 2018, never found a solution for it. Any help is welcome.

Hi! Have you found a solution to this?
Or does anyone know a solution? I'm looking for a non-root solution, excluding Precise Volume (which works, but's buggy).
Thanks!

use gsi and add ro.config.media_vol_steps=100 into build.prop

Thank you!
I forgot to mention that I'm also not looking to flash, but I'll keep your solution in mind.

Please help me adjust my mic sensitivity

To all Wizard gurus,
I have recently flashed my G3 Wizard (T-Mobile MDA) with Windows Mobile 6.1 Octavioi ROM. I am very happy with the ROM, but I'm having a problem with others hearing me.
I think I've read somewhere here that you can adjust your microphone by modifying the registry or something, but I've been searching for literally hours and can't find any threads on this topic.
Also note that background noise seems to be OVER-emphasized while my voice seems very UNDER-emphasized.
PLEASE HELP; it would be great if I could get these settings adjusted and start really enjoying my phone.
For the sake of future searchers, I'm including some keywords below:
mic microphone adjust adjustment adjusting gain sensitivity volume increase decrease mouthpiece
hey, try to use battery-status and set application based overclocking
and put there phone and use 195MHz
i find that when i used overclocking a lot of people have problems to hear me clearly - and that option in b-s helped me - give it a try.
***UPDATE***
It looks as if I need an 'extended' version of this application to do application-specific overclocking. Does anyone know if Battery Status Extended is available for or compatible with the Wizard (running WM6)?
pleasehelp said:
Thank you for the tip; I downloaded Battery Status and installed it, and I have it actively working on my system, but for some reason I cannot access application-specific clock settings.
Can you either tell me how to do this, or show me a thread where I can find this information?
Thanks a mil...

The registry changes suggested in this thread worked for me:

i've had problems with microphone in my wizard. basically, people complained, that they can't hear me very well. i also found these registry keys, did some tests and changed RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME and EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME values to CC. after that change, microphone sensitivity got better and didn't receive any more complaints.

Also looking for the same fix. It seems most people replied for a volume adjustment for the output and not mic adjustment for input being over sensitive (also causes feedback/screeching). Thanks.

App to control phone volume?

I dropped my phone and now the volume buttons rarely works. So is there a app i could use to control the music/call volume?thanks.
Sorry it didnt show the other thread i posted...close this one please.
Volume slider
Yes, there is an app for that, but only if you have a dev-unlock phone
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577919
Don't know of one for fully locked phones.

What about one for call volume? This one is good for master volume but for call volume it doesn't work.
Not aware of any app for in-call volume.
I can see how that might be a problem for you if the volume buttons don't work at all.
Maybe you wanna PM the developer for that app and ask for it to be added?
Alternatively, is it that the volume buttons don't work at all? or do they not work well? You might consider taking off the back cover and trying to improve the contact with the push buttons. (Use small regular screwdriver at 45 degree angle if you have one of those 3 prong screws). Don't know which device you have, but if you check the forum for that phone, many have directions about how to take off back cover (mainly for updating memory card)
Hi,
I have the same problem too. This app works like a charm but not for in-call.
I am not sure if the developer could do something about it.
Unfortunately, because I have less than 10 posts, I am unable to reply in a dev thread.
I have tried to send an email, but not a private message, to the developer and he has not replied so I don't know if he got it or not.
I dont want to email him again cause it would be rude.
Anyone has any idea if it would be possible at least?
Cheers
Hi guys,
No answer to my post
Has anyone the same problem?
Would anyone mind to ask the developer?
Thank you in advance
Ok in case anyone is interested in this:
There is a solution to change the in-call volume manually, it s not an app but it does the job pretty well
see this thread:

Has anyone been successful to disable this?

Been trying for two days to fix this 'feature' but they have changed the file position of the code and am having trouble finding it. Oh well at least I've learnt everything I ever wanted to know about decompiling/ recompiling . lol
I'm gonna try again in a few days once my sister has gone home as this is the first time in a year I've seen her in a year.
Wish me luck
i'm also looking for a way to disable increasing ring tone , also find it very annoying .
Try headset button controller
Not sure if this is actually a fix but just did some quick informal testing and seems to work: install app headset button controller and under advanced options set the default volume when plugging in headphones to 65% or above. If someone else can verify this it would be awesome.

Good try but when plugging my headphone in with this active, the device notices the volume change and the warning comes straight up.
Thanks anyway.
Ah yes, after I rebooted and plugged in I got the warning. However it seems to only be an issue the first time after reboot, then looks like it's good to go. Just don't reboot
Not sure if it applies to this phone as I sport note 4 and am only browsing, but in absence of xposed mod, I use tasker. Also free app 'hearing saver' from play store works for me.
Note 4 ?

I've already tried this. Needs smali edit. But I've been unable to find the code for this function.
edgarf28 has managed to accomplish this in his ROM and I have requested a point in the right direction or even a flashable version (bit cheeky I know) he has also managed to incorporate 5 way reboot that I would really like help with to. Might have to go and beg him again .lol

the reason he is able to do it is because his rom is de-odexed or whatever... we arent... that is why he can have it

I already did this it seem to ho quite smoothly but still having problems with getting 5 way and disabling safe volume.
Just need a bit of help to finish getting my device perfect.
Problem is theres not much ROM deving on 925f at the moment. I know this will pick up. I'm just impatient
I've been searching everywhere for a way to disable this volume warning. Has anyone figure it out and posted instructions? I see it in a couple custom ROMs but I haven't found how it is done.

I've simply flashed the alliance ROM. Very happy
In general, this issue still bothers me. At least in my car, in which I use an auxilliary cord, I've an NFC tag programmed to open Spotify and turn media volume all the way up using NFC Tasks/Tools. At least for me, this works to get past the warning initially, and is useful when I need to unplug then plug back in.
I would love to see a general fix that doesn't require rooting my phone; that sanctimonious popup drives me bonkers.
If youll go to the music player on your phone. Click settings, then click smart volume on. Try it out. Works for me on my s6

sweeet! good work-around man! way better than using roms or rooting the sucker.

In-call volume nougat rom's to loud (can't slide all the way down)

I've tried two different nougat roms with same effect, no-one is complaining about it so i can't find a solution.
When i make or receive a call i can adjust slider volume but not all the way down, i think it's stuck on 20%.
Not a big problem unless u have a loud-talker in the family like my sister, when she calls i hold the phone away from my ears.
When i flash back (restore) to lolipop problem is gone.
What could it be?
phone: 64gb
nougat roms: 1. Nitrogen latest & older one 2. Slim-bacon (latest)

I will try that one now, but have a feeling it's the same.
Search for post #3333 from Timmmmaaahh
RR gave me same 'problem', will check out timmmaaah post now. ( u can right-click postnumber and post it, saves a lot of time , found it none the less )

I don't see any relevance with my problem in the #3333 post. Maybe it's my dyslectic reading, but i don't see it.
Little bump, a edit won't raise any attention.
The problem sort of solved itself, well not in my phone but my sister bought another phone with lower output volume.
Would still like to solve the bug but i don't know how.
I have the same problem (my voice is not heard by the caller). I have already edited build.prop, mixer_paths, and nothing worked. I used Magisk with an OPO-specific module and it did not work either.

Changing Volume Steps

I've been searching for a solution to this for a couple of years now. I'm currently running a rooted stock Marshmallow S7 and still haven't figured out how to increase the volume steps on my phone. There must be a way, even if it involves editing the build.prop file. Is it possible to change the volume steps on an S7? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Found one thing that seems to kinda work. The NGC 4388 app won't allow me to configure the steps but does seem to add more.
Edit #2: Had to uninstall NGC 4388 because the volume would jump sometimes and I believe it nullified my Sound Mod that I had previously flashed.
