After installing android m preview, my pc (windows 8.1) doesn't detect my nexus 5. I have tried three different cable. It just charges the mobile. As you can see in the attachment below
I read that there are new drivers needed. They should be in the latest SDK.
solution
found the solution else where
Android M now has USB Configuration profiles under developer options which apparently upon playing with let us connect our Nexus 5 to the PC. No extra drivers were need to be installed. By default, it seems Android M has PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) activated on the device and soon as you change it to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) the device is instantly recognized by the PC.
How to Change USB Configuration on Android M
Go to Settings » About phone » scroll to the bottom and tap on Build number seven times to enable Developer options.
Go back to Settings page and select “Developer options” from here now.
Scroll a bit and you’ll see “Select USB configuration” under Networking options, select it.
Now select the USB mode you want to use from here. We selected the “MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)” from the list and it resolved our issue with Nexus 5 not connecting to the PC.

Sent from my Android M Nexus 5 yo!
I flashed the MM upgrade on my US 5.5 and then did a factory reset, but now my Android Auto will not connect to my phone. I've tried swiping down and choosing MTP, but still does not connect. The phone is connecting to Bluetooth. After researching it seems to be a problem with Marshmallow and Android Auto. Does anyone know a fix?
Uninstall drivers and reinstall

There aren't any drivers. This is for Android Auto when I plug in to my Kia Sportage. Android Auto did work before the MM update, and it still works on other phones running 5.1.
Cant you just remove the device from android auto and then reconnect it?

I did remove the device, but Android Auto will not find the phone with the MM update. Seems to be a know issue with Samsung and LG devices.
I finally got Android Auto working by using the Developer options, Select USB configuration, RNDIS (USB Ethernet)

I have the same problem and i tried to put RNDIS but my cell doesnt get the configuration. Did you do something to put it on RNDIS?
I got a new car (Hyundai Kona) with android auto but my Idol 3 5.5 (6045I) will not connect to the car screen. I have MM on it (but not the 2 latest garbage updates). I have tried USB debugging, multiple(10) USB cords. I cannot get RNDIS to work on the USB -it reverts to charging. So my USB is set to MTP. My phone plays AA on it's own screen just fine but will not send it to the car screen. Bluetooth works fine.
The auto dealer rep tried his iphone (apple carplay) and another android phone and they connected just fine so it is not the car.
Any suggestions?
If you're like me and hate having to switch your device to "File Transfer" every time you connect it to your computer, you're in luck. Here's how to change the default USB mode:
Enable Developer Options:
Go to Settings > About Phone > Scroll to bottom
Tap on Build number 8 times. You will get a notification reading "Congratulations, you are now a developer!
Go back one menu and tap System
Tap Developer Options
Scroll down until you see the Default USB Configuration toggle. It is in the Networking group right after the WiFi settings. Enable the toggle.
Select your desired USB mode:
File Transfer / Android Auto: Pretty self explanatory, your device will automatically appear as an external device when connected to your PC, and Android Auto will automatically connect
USB Tethering: This is the wired version of the hotspot
MIDI: This is for sound/musical applications, usually with an external instrument and/or mixer
PTP: In this mode your device will appear to your PC as a digital camera
No data transfer: This is the standard 500mA USB charging mode. Please note your device will continue to charge in other modes so there's no need to select this mode specifically to charge.
Hope this helps!
Will USB mode 5. No data transfer or charging only prevent juice jacking?
Hi,
Unable to connect android auto with car and my oneplus nord ce 2 5g device. sometime keep connecting/ disconnecting automatically.
Service center engineer failed to solve.
What I tried :
1 usb debugging enable
2 clear Android auto app data.
3 phone restart in safe mode.
4 reinstall the Android auto app update.
5 given all permission to Android auto app.
6 did factory reset but not connected
7 Tried with 8-9 different USB cables.
Please help me how to connect Android auto with my car.
Did you get this working?
On OOS13 with my OP9, the phone connects when I connect the phone to the USB with the car turned off and then it turn on the car. If I unplug and replug the cable the it doesn't connect. Almost seeming like restart the car is the only way. Sigh!

I'm trying to install a clock face I made for the Versa 3 onto my Versa 4. On the watch you need to connect the charge cable (to the pc I assume). Then in watch settings there is a place to enable Developer Bridge/USB Debugging which I assume is how one installs an app for testing. This was via WIFI on the Versa 3. No WIFI on Versa 4. On the screen that reads "To connect to developer bridge, enable USB debugging" I select the switch to enable but selecting the "Yes" button just turns off the screen. It does not restart, and Fitbit Studio does not recognize the watch.
The same Yes/No dialog works for Factory Reset and Shutdown so I'm guessing the switch is just not hooked up correctly in the OS.
I've factory reset a couple of times, once connected via the PC app and not phone app. In that scenario the "Settings" button was greyed out so I couldn't even get to the step I am describing.
Is there some step I am missing? Is anyone else able to get USB debugging to work on this device?
I had understood that there was no SDK for the Versa 4, nor third party app, and that "non Fitbit" watchfaces were watchfaces from Versa 3 ported by Fitbit, not it's original developper... I'd love to be wrong, though.
