I have a S8+ phone rooted using Magisk v21.4 and also has TWRP recovery installed on it.
I want to know how can I change the baseband of my phone using either Magisk or TWRP or ODIN and without losing root or any data.
I have the baseband file (CP_G955FXXSBDTJ1_CP17050582_CL18920278_QB34922240_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5) extracted from the main firmware file that I need for this.
Just need the exact procedure to use it without losing root and data.
Thanks for help.

I have successfully unlocked the bootloader my H83010i version.
I started down the path to root my device using H83010d tot file but stopped because I didn't know if when I upgrade to android 7.0 versions if I would lose root?
Therefore what is the easiest way to get to H83020f rooted?
How do I go from H83010i to H83020f and be rooted?
I have rooted a lot of samsung galaxy phones but this is my first LG so I am struggling a bit to understand how to upgrade. I assume if I do an OTA update it will install the latest version? I checked for system updates and it just said there is an update and to start downloading it but I don't know which update version that is?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

First of all, no need to use 10D tot file anymore. Download and install 20A kdz front autoprime located here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/stock-h830-20a-rom-flashable-zips-imgs-t3511294
Once that's installed, set up your system and then follow the following guide to get TWRP an root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/root-h830-running-30a-nougat-t3524322
After you have TWRP and root download the flashable 20F zip and install from TWRP (make sure to delete recovery from boot.p file after installing and also flash root). Here's the link to 20F:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/stock-h830-20f-rom-flashable-zips-imgs-t3592855
If you follow all of that, you will be on stock 20F, rooted and with TWRP. After that, I recommend checking out the following custom kernel and installing that and using magisk instead of SuperSU. Kernel located here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/jan-17-2017-20c-deodexed-kernels-t3539611
Hopefully that helps, if you need more help just ask.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write me this great information. I have a question about the (make sure to delete recovery from boot.p file after installing and also flash root). ???????? Is this explained clearly somewhere? I don't know what I should do.

After flashing the 20F version from TWRP, it creates a recovery from boot.p file in the system directory. If you don't delete this file before rebooting, you will lose TWRP. So, after doing the recowvery method to get root and TWRP and then after you flash the 20F from TWRP, after it's done flashing go to main menu of TWRP, click on mount, check system, go back to main menu, click advanced, click file manager and go-to system directory and click on the recovery from boot.p file and then delete. Now you can reboot without losing TWRP. Then you can flash SuperSU or magisk for root
Your Device software cannot be checked for corruption. Lock the bootloader
Thanks for the fast responses. After many hours of studying the posts and I finally got my LG G5 running on H830_20F_DeOdexed rom withh Asgard version 4.5 kernal and rooted with SuperSU v2.74.
However I keep getting the "your device software cannot be checked for corruption. lock the bootloader message upon starting up. see attachment
Does everyone get that message? Or is there a way to remove it?
I thought the Asgard kernal said it got rid of that?

You'll always have that message, no current way around it. Asgard kennel will allow you to pass safety net if you use magisk instead of SuperSU for root as it hides that the bootloader is unlocked from the system.
Where is Magisk?

Are you saying that boot up message will not be there if I switch to Magisk?
I tried to find magisk but I was unable to locate the install file and instructions on how to change from SuperSU to magisk. Do you know the link to it?

No. I said currently there is no way to get rid of that message unless you lock the bootloader and you can't do that after modifying the system (i.e. installing TWRP and root). I said magisk will allow you to pass safety net. All that does is allow you to use apps that won't work with root / unlocked bootloader. If you don't use apps like Android pay or other apps that don't work when rooted, it really isn't necessary to switch from SuperSU to magisk. Anyways, if you're interested in magisk use Google (or XDA search) and search magisk XDA.
Hi,
I would like to root my samsung galaxy s7 sm-g930f with android 7.0 and firmware phn.
I tried to root my phone with CF-Auto-Root-herolte- and odin but I made something wrong (probably not using the most recent file version or odin version) and my phone was blocked.
Then I flashed a new stock version to resolve the problem.
Now I would like to know if this method is correct (without installing twrp) and if is it possible root the phone without erasing all my data.
thank you

If you want to root I would recommend you to use Magisk but a fsctory reset is mandatory if you want to do this as you will have to flash TWRP to install it and since the encryption changes when you install a custom recovery you will need to use the format data option under the Wipe menu in TWRP and that will factory reset your phone. So make a backup first.
If you decide to do this. Use the format data option then reboot to recovery and after that flash magisk zip. After that reboot to system and wait.

Hi guys,
yesterday I rooted my galaxy S7 sm-g930f.
Everything worked fine and in a few minutes later I was back on stock fw with twrp and magisk root. But unfortunately I lost my IMEI and have no backup of this.
I read that I can resolve it by flashing factory binary.
Can anyone guide me through the steps I have to do? I think I'm able to manage it but wondering if there are any files I do need for my fw version or can i simple download any factory binary?
Thanks in advance
Catarrer
Flash firmware with a newer modem version compared to the one in the custom rom you were using (not factory/combination). Use the same CSC, the stock recovery might be required to apply CSC.
If that doesn't work, wipe data (backup photos and all that).
Backup EFS in TWRP, nothing else unless sure.
Hi Bryan48765,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm downloading atm the newest fw which is available for my device. (May be take a while with 2k dsl...)
I'm going more concrete about the steps I did:
I activated the dev options, switched on the oem unlock and then switched to download mode.
Installed the latest twrp with the latest Odin version.
First I rooted my device then with chainfires supersu, but it doenst show up as rooted (rootchecker) so I flashed back a boot loader for my device which I downloaded here. Unfortunately i don't know any more which one...
After flashing the vootloader I installed magisk and everything was fine... and then a few hours later i recognised that mobile network isn't working. A few looks later I saw that there was no imei... so I don't know if it was working before flashing the boot loader or the error occurred afterwards.
I'll try tomorrow to flash the downloaded fw.
Do I get the single csc file for my current version or do I need to download the whole fw? (Takes about 5h)
Thanks in advance
Cayarrer
Thank you!
I'm now back to stock fw and have my imei back! Thank you so much!
At weekend I will try to root again. Do I need to pay attention to anything to not lose my imei again?
I would follow these steps:
Flash latest twrp for my device without auto reboot, boot directly into recovery and flash there the no-verity file and then the magisk. Am I right or do I need some more or less?
You guys at sea are so amazing! Thank you!

Backup the EFS, and store it in the cloud (not public), maybe encrypt the zip it is stored in. Only if a lot of firmware changes and data wipes don't return the imei, restore the backup. The restoration could also affect some modem settings, battery wear info, and it might not be restored correctly.
Unlock the bootloader before flashing the latest twrp. RMM serms to not apply here.
If the phone is encrypted (should be visible in the security settings) twrp might show that it "failed to mount /data", and it's normally where the root zip is stored. Alternatively, move the root zip and others to the external sdcard, though with root+encryption there might or might not be a risk for a type of brick.
Encryption is disabled by formatting /data and flashing a zip that disables it.
no-verity-opt-encrypt might already be in magisk but flash it anyway and if it fails return to the stock kernel ("boot" in twrp)

Can anyone please kindly answer this?
I have installed magisk with patched boot.img but I uninstalled it. Is there a way to install magisk without losing data?
If your bootloader is still unlocked, simply follow the same process you did before to install Magisk.
Alternatively, you may be able to patch the AP firmware file and flash in Odin.
But it will delete all my data
