The main intention for building this rom was to give the FiiO M6 a little more room to move. The minimal amount of ram really hinders the performance of this device. Debloating and deodexing frees up ram somewhat and provides a smoother experience. This is my personal setup and thought i'd share. Usually i test extensively before releasing to public, but if you do find something detrimental to the usage of your device that is either Force Closing or simply not working, let me know and i will in turn inform whether that is something i will tend to.
WETA is made for Music geeks like me, its main focus is stability and Audio. It is Based off latest firmware currently, and will always be using the most up to date firmware base.
This ROM is built from stock system images, decompiled and modded by me.

ROM OS Version: 7.0 Nougat
Version Information
Status: Stable
Created 2021-04-24

How To...
Nothing special needs to be done here to get root or install a rom on this device, it comes unlocked and permissive out of the box.
1. Download the rom zip from the downloads folder in post #1, place on external sdcard
2. Boot to recovery (power down, then hold vol down and power button until recovery boots)
3. Wipe data factory reset (for a reliable experience, and also installs magisk manager if selected)
4. Select "Apply update from sdcard", then choose the rom zip to flash
5. The flashing process can take a while on this device, first it will go through a verification of the zip (1min), then Aroma installer should start up where you can choose your install options. Then the flashing of the rom will take place, another (1-3min)
6. Once installed and booted, the system can take a few minutes to build caches and get stable, deodexing does this. But once settled in should run smoothly.
In an emergency...
If you find yourself bricked or not booting at any time, and can't get into recovery, fastboot is available by powering down, and holding vol up + power, when the red led appears immediately release the power button. Device will stay black, with a solid red led. From there fastboot flash stock imgs.

Good stuff man! I know people on the Fiio Facebook group will be interested in this.
I don't have an M6, I have the M11, but it's great to see development for any Fiio Device.

M11 vs M11 pro isn't worth the extra money correct?

Not in my opinion.
I think the topology of the single ended output is better in the M11 - both DACs are used, whereas the Pro only uses a single DAC for single ended.
The M11 also has 2x MicroSD versus the Pro's single slot.
The M11 has been driving my planars, both single ended and balanced, without issue, power output has been fine.

Here's what I mean about the topology.
This is the M11 non pro,
And here is the Pro
I'm bit sure if the difference is due THX requirements or quite what

Im glad i went with the M11 then, What planars do you have? I have Hifiman sundaras and ananda BT, but am returning the Anandas, they just dont live up to the price tag for me. My go to bluetooth headphones have better qualities for my ears (ATH-DSR9BT)
The FiiO M6 doesnt drive the Sundaras enough, so am looking forward to using them with the M11.

WETA v1.01
I have started to mod the stock launcher a little, i like a list layout on this device for the main icons. Launcher3 seems to be the most optimized and resource light launcher i have tried so will stick with it and mod it how i like.

I have the HE400i 2020 with a balanced 2.5mm cable.
And the Fostex T60RP. Waiting for a 4.4mm balanced cable at the moment. Powers em pretty well.

Rootless pixel launcher is what I've been using on the M11 and have had no issues with it

hello. can it work on M9? thanks

You wouldn't happen to have any luck modding the kernel, would you? They're missing half the source on their GitHub from what appears to be a case-insensitive filesystem. I'd really like to get a password manager on here that can type them for me. Thanks to your mods, I have successfully gotten the device to mount any disk image I choose as the driver disk by modifying init.samsungexynos7570.usb.rc, and even use android props to change it on the fly. I'll also be trying to fix the audio resampling latency issue as well. It looks like the DAC app is literally just setting a prop in the system to enable the UAC2 USB gadget driver (also controlled by the init file mentioned earlier) and piping source to sink through the android APIs. I'd like to disable android's audio system entirely when in DAC mode and let alsa handle resampling natively.
Thanks so much for doing this! Out of curiosity, how did you manage to get past dm-verity and signature verification? Was I just signing my zips wrong? (I used signapk based on a commend written in the official OTA update, and heard that some recoveries just check if there *is* a signature, rather than verifying it's the *right* one)

ViPER4Android 2.3.4.0 Do I have to enable it in the system? Or does it work by default?

--------------------

Just installed on a M6 following the instructions ; all is good. Thanks for the amazing work.

Loaded this up the other night. Has been working really well since! All I've wanted on my Fiio ( that I couldn't put on before, ) is Viper.
So, thank you very, very much. I'll be keeping my eye out for updates!

hello to all. nothing i can do to install viper and micro g on m9?
thanks a lot

Is there a way to just install Viper4android without the rest of the rom?

[W.I.P] AOSP 7.0.0_r6 Nougat, Clean Version

THIS IS NO LONGER BEING UPDATED
This was just about a direct copy of the ROM here I created due to the dev including opengapps in his builds: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013/orig-development/p-aosp-n-7-0-google-shame-t3448008
They are no longer doing that, so I am focusing on contributing to that. The v0.6 build there is equivalent and a bit better than the v0.6.1 build here. Just use their's. (Leaving the links here for now, but really don't use them. )
Full credit to @DevSwift1 for all his work on this thus far. (and the other contributors listed below). Seriously, the work they have done is a thing of beauty and I'm only doing this out of necessity of doing the right thing. (I'd rather not be, but I said I would and it may be fun.)
What works:
Audio
Brightness
GPU Acceleration
Bluetooth
Wifi
GPS
NFC
Location services
Camera and video recording
Video playback
MTP
Sensors
Bugs:
- very poor 1080p video recording quality
- Google seems to think you are using a 2012 N7. I pulled part of the fix for that since it was only part and broke the build. It should be worked out next build. (or, the next build)
You can dirty flash, but you may need to uninstall and re-install any Google Apps you installed from the Play Store.
Change Log
V0.6.1
- Uses kernel that is not vulnerable to CVE-2016-2059. (@zaclimon's with @DevSwift1's patches to compile it on GCC 4.9. The stock N7 kernel was never vulnerable to that CVE and neither was that one which isn't heavily modified from it.)
V0.6
- Updated to Android-7.0.0_r6, NRD90U, Sept 6, 2016 Security Patch. (I think r4 was actually the security patch. Not sure if there is more in r6.)
- Note that this is missing the fix for CVE-2016-2059 which was part of the Sept Security Update, but resides in the kernel which isn't part of the AOSP build. I'm fixing that and will have an updated ROM or flashable kernel soon. (Hopefully. Building the kernel is new to me)
V0.5.1
- Fork of DevSwift1's V0.5 with Gapps removed.
- Location Services works with wifi

Very Unsupported, experimental Download for Deb
This builds correctly from my fork of Devswift1's stuff which included Deb. I have no idea if it works.
v0.6.1 (Just the new Kernel for CVE-2016-2059)
V0.X (it should be about v0.6 if it works. Same sources except the parts that are different between the devices.)

I was able to get micro Gapps installed with about 90m free space using the original ROM..(Will that cause issues ?? ) . Actually downloaded minigapps ,but created a gapps-config to install micro . I noticed that without Google search being a system app ,it gets killed quite quickly and takes time to load .That seems to have gone

Doing that should be fine I'd think. The only issue is running out of space and as long as you aren't doing that there shouldn't be issues. (I only recommend nano since that is what I have been using and it worked for me so far.)
Unless the ROM itself gets 90mb bigger in future updates, micro should always fit. Technically, nothing should be writing to /system after install since it's usually locked anyways. Any free space in that partition just sits idle, unused.
Any custom kernels works on it? Because stock is garbage. I saw nexus 5 reports of 6.0 versions working on 7.0
- There are reports of location not working without a GPS lock, for good reason. Play Services wasn't listed as a location provider.....common thing. I think I fixed it maybe, but in a effort to release this quickly, I haven't tested much. Please let me know if you still have issues.

Thanks to you and to @DevSwift1 this has been posible thanks to him and i encourage him to continue working on this port, it's amazing so far and there are many users out there that thank you for your hard work and for giving this rom to the community. Thanks!
Also thanks to the rest of developers.
Beautiful widgets now locates correctly, and so many other apps like Waze or Meteogalicia (local weather apps) Thank you.

I get this when flashing. Afterwards attempting to flash gapps indicates that I'm still on Android 6.0.1.
Never mind. Just had to boot into the system and flash gapps afterwards.
I've been following all of these 7.0 ROM threads since the beginning. It looks like enough fixes have been done to this rom (thanks to the work of ALL the devs involved) for me to finally install it. Great job everyone!
DISCLAIMER FOR THE REST OF THE POST: Not for noobs or the faint of heart
I just dirty flashed this right over the last official MM and full device encryption enabled. For the most part things went smoothly. The only thing (and it's quite a lot for me) I had to do was uninstall and re-install, through the Play Store, just about everything from Google. The only app that didn't crash was Play Games - almost anything else with a Google account crashed, including MightyText (I originally suspected this was because I used nano GApps, which removed most GApps from /system - but YouTube Creator Studio and MightyText debunk that theory). After doing this everything seems to be running smoothly, but I'll continue to monitor battery usage. AOSP Calendar and Contacts have been disabled, in favor of the Google versions.
The biggest reason I wanted N was so I could use Night Mode and get rid of Twilight. The option is still baked into AOSP even though it won't appear in the Quick Settings shade. Download Night Mode Enabler from Play Store and the option returns.
Clean flashed 0.5.1, immediately rebooted back into recovery and flashed OpenGapps Pico and SuperSU 2.78 while wiping Dalvik and Cache between each step.
Everything works perfectly including the restoring of my Titanium app backups.
Thanks for supporting this device!

Sorry for being off-topic, but Twilight is really bad compared to Chainfire's CF.lumen. Twilight adds a kind of overlay, while CF.lumen does it with root and a driver, which makes the screen not look washed out or blurry like Twilight. It's free, too. Otherwise there's the live display one in every CyanogenMod based rom.

Thanks, but now that Im on Nougat, I have a native solution available. The reason I used Twilight is because I don't root anymore. I'm aware of other solutions, but these days I'm looking for the simple stuff.
This ROM is exactly what I was looking for.

Yes. Just help the settings wheel down for a few seconds, nothing too crazy. Just use it to display battery percentage
V0.6 is up on the main page. It just merges in the Sept Security Update.

Going to say likely not. I just tried ElementalX, with all default settings, and it boots to recovery. There may be ones that will (in theory there can be, this uses the stock 6.0 kernel far as I can tell).
It really is in the kernel dev's wheelhouse to fix things for a new Android release. I totally don't want to get into that world. Did enough messing around in the Linux Kernel in the 90's.
That said, if there are things on the AOSP side I can do to help things work, I can look into that.

It boots to recovery. I think it got as far as showing the logo for a split second before rebooting into recovery. (I also was wrong about this being stock maybe. It was compiled too recently, and not by Google. Not sure where it came from, since it is just a Binary in the repos. Could still be a very slightly modified, if at all, 6.0.1 stock.)

This rom is basically a global developer, more so than even xiaomi.eu, since there are less modifications. No Chinese apps, battery life is variable on the releases, which are weekly. Keep in mind that their community is only in Russian, so this could be a problem.

How many roms/different versions have you used btw on prime?
I found eur rom 8.1.3 is the 'best' battery and to last longest compared to the other ones I tried... I using 8.1.3 again.
Epic was ok/good though battery for some reason didn't seem so good.

Hi guys. Here's my review of this fantastic ROM. Generally I'm impressed by this rom. It's almost perfect. Everything works. After trying all available roms for 4 prime this one looks the best of all. The battery is as great as the global 8.2.4 which was great too. You can see the details in screen shots. I have charged it 77 percent and that's the details. I rooted and flashed xposed on it too and they work fine. Titanium works great. ( not working on official global roms even after I rooted them and that's why I switched to this from global.) the other strong point of this is the ram management. Ram is 1.5 gigabytes free as you see. This was just 1 gig in other roms. Swipe up gesture to start searching which is only available on China developer roms works on this too so no need to install nova launcher for having this great feature. By the way I have used lineage and mokee too but I like this one best. Let me know if there's any question.

No. The system partition will be overwritten when you flash the Rom. If you wipe system before flashing MR build it may show 'failed to extract /system' error. Rebooting to recovery again is a solution then.

See /system/media/audio folder for available sounds. See if it's not empty. If you can't set any external sound files as ring/alarm, that may be a bug to look into. I was just sharing this rom here and in no way is related to MR development team. Hope things gets fixed in the release next.

Apologizes in advance if "alternative" sensors end up broken I hope they won't!
Need more screenshots, anyone
only issue for me is wifi doesn't see my hide network,i registered it but it stays on saved networks page. but it connects perfectly to normal networks
EDIT:File managers do not work properly or not open at all (ex. Xplore)
EDIT 2: How to grant root for adb? There is no option for that in Dev settings
Finally, thank you! I'm really curious about the background app limits in Oreo

When I said 'now' I wanted to say 'later'. During my holidays, I don't know how, I lost my 16 GB SD . I bought a new one on eBay and it may took a month. I will find another sd card tomorrow and see if I cand test it
Now it's time for feedback. (I'll write what's work and what's not, if it's written on first post, I will still write it)
- Buggy camera (can't save video recording and no 1080p recording, I use PMSCameraNextMod and stock camera)
- Bluetooth is buggy but work, especially Settings>Bluetooth (if opened, Bluetooth keep turning on and off) you need a Bluetooth device that request to pair.
I test it with my bluetooth headphone and it's connected and working.
- a bit sluggish on transition and animation
- Files doesn't show internal SD, any downloaded file like apk needs to be "copy to" to external SD with Files in order to open it from Files My mistake, sorry. Thanks @JuniorCaesar
- longer boot time compared to los 14.1. (I counted the boot animation circle, in 14.1 it's around 7-8 round. In 15 it took more than 10 round before lineage os logo show up)
- everything else is working or not used by me.
I was going to test nfc, but it seems that there is no other people's phone being unused.
That's all for now I think :good:

Bad news - they are broken... All of them :'(
But it's bootable and most of the thing works (apart from BT etc.).
I can even login to Snapchat and take picture but only with front camera - cannot switch to back one.
Also - is there something added regarding "low ram" or something like that? Because Chrome browser switched itself to that simple tabs switch (without "3D tabs") and without animations...
But overall, it's super-fast for a ROM in alpha stage

SE XtremeSound Enhancement Xtreme will give you the best experience ever on your stock (without any sound mod)
SE Xtreme is fully based on Stock Dolby and Stock OnePlus Sound Tuner. Any mod you install after this will work after this.
SE Xtreme comes with modified files for stock Dolby and Stock OnePlus Sound Tuner to give the best out of it without harming speakers. Some features are as follows-
There is no risk by using this mod
Fully Based on Stock Dolby and OnePlus Sound Tuner
This mod will enhance the frequency bands for speakers
Bass, Vocals, and Treble everything is balanced, no distortion at all (Speakers and Headphones both)
Comes with Bass Enhanced boost for Headphones (Excluding Bluetooth and any OnePlus Official headphones)
You will get great pure bass without losing any quality of song in headphones.
It's not just mixer_paths xml file thing, it's more withing /system and /data
Can be uninstalled safely
It's partially systemless mode- Mixer Paths XML modifications are systemless as Magisk Module (that will be installed by App automatically). And other modifications are within /data directly to files. [It's 100% safe]
There are 3 mods included:
Normal Enhancement Boost
Xtreme Enhancement Boost
XtremePlus Enhancement Boost (Use this 3rd mode with caution, having always volume at max with this mode can harm speakers and earpiece)
By the names, you can guess their differences. You must try to get more and you will experience the difference.
Cons: After any mode change, your device will reboot automatically (it's necessary).
Here are some screenshots of SE Xtreme App
For user's using SE Xtreme:Don't do:
While you are using this mode, If you modify mixer paths file then that will be overwritten by SE Xtreme on the next boot automatically.
But if anyhow you can modify it, please don't increase any value for RX0, this will harm your device's earpiece. I recommend making RX0 volume to stock always.
Can Do:
You can install any mode over this, just make sure mixer paths file should not conflict. Any sound mod in which mixer_paths_tavil.xml file modifications are included, just don't install it or install it by removing mixer_paths_tavil.xml modifications from it.

REQUIREMENTS:
OOS 11 with no sound mod (Check first post, you can install that later but with cautions)
If you had uninstalled OnePlus sound tuner then please re-enable it.
Latest Magisk
Good Internet Connection while doing anything within app
Common Sense
If you are using ButterLimits, please Remove Sound Mode before installing this.
COMPATIBILITY FOR OTHER OOS11 Devices [Not OnePlus 7 Pro]1. App should work fine for you
2. Tuned/Modified Stock Dolby and OnePlus Sound Tuner should also work
3. Mixer Path XML file modification may work or may not work. [As OP7P sound works on file mixer_paths_tavil.xml. So, the modifications are within that file or for that file. Other devices use different file names with different values. In case it's different then Mixer Path XML file modification will not work.
What are actually mixer paths XML file modifications? - Boosting Volume for Speakers and Headphones at balanced level for this mod [Not InCall volume]
INSTRUCTIONS :
Open SE Xtreme App
Give Root Permissions
Select Mode
Update Script for selected mod
Apply Your mod
The device will restart automatically
After reboot, you are with selected mod already
NOTE: Step 4, that is "Update Script for selected mod" is only needed for the first time for each mode, once the script is updated for all modes, then not needed to update the script next time.
But Internet connection is always needed while using the app and changing mode.
You can find a file "YourSEchanges.log" in your phone's internal storage, here you can watch your SE Xtreme changes and status.

Hi guys,
He provided me some files from same place as on 7 Pro and I have checked, everything is same as 7 Pro, so it should work on 7T as well. He still testing it and I am waiting for a respons.
Regards
Mohitash
Hm, but where s the Problem? What Can i do? Firmware is up to date, at monday, i Did A full Reset...
Works on 7 Pro with OOS 11.0.1.1 (EU) and Dora kernel 1.7. Sound is definitely improved even with the "normal enhancement".
Is normal enhancement the same as (or similar to) the sound tweak that was included in Butterlimits?
FYI: App says normal enhancement script was already updated. This is probably right but I thought you should know in case it ain't.
Anyway, great mod that I will most likely use as long as I've got this device at least.

Your Q. - Is normal enhancement the same as (or similar to) the sound tweak that was included in Butterlimits?
Ans: - NO, it's different.
Your Q. - FYI: App says the normal enhancement script was already updated. This is probably right but I thought you should know in case it ain't.
Ans: - I know this . Update option you need to do only once for each mode and for normal mode, when you open the app for the first time, it's automatically get updated and you just need to apply it.
Thank you for your feedback

I don't think s. This will only work only if AOSP ROM hase same sound files that this mod will modify at same places as OOS.
P.S.: I am not much familiar to AOSP (On OnePlus).
Because personally I can't use AOSP ROM instead of OOS for my daily use.
Regards
Mohitash
What exactly does it do?. I just tried it out and i used my Hyperx Cloud Alpha wired headphones. The best seems to be normal enhacement imo, but i only notice the bass boost. And its too much imo. Before I was using JamesDSP for Bass and Viper for treble. I kinda like that more because i have more control.

UPDATED FOR April 21st 2023
I am not affiliated with the official Evolution-X team.
link to kernel source: https://github.com/psybernetiq/kernel_google_redbull_tiramisu-pixel
my other repos for the device and vendor are there as well.
downloads:
EvolutionX-13 - Google Drive
drive.google.com
flash the vendor_boot img. Then adb sideload the zip file in recovery.
Notes:
BACKUP YOUR DATA FOR THIS BUILD. YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO RESET YOUR DEVICE TO FLASH THS ROM. SORRY FOR INCONVENIENCE.
I make reference to 9.9.9.9 (quad9 dns) rather than 1.1.1.1 (cloud flare) to 1 part in the code under bionic/libc/dns/net/getaddrinfo.c.
I added bromite webview support (does not require you to be rooted)
I added a flag called TARGET_IS_PIXEL_5 := true so that this device gets a hit to make persist.sys.disable_rescue=true. Without this, the device will boot but then reboot to recovery within ~10seconds.
I did not add wireguard support to the kernel this time. Let me know if you want me to add it back in.
passes safety net
The screen on my pixel 5 cracked back in March and I got a Pixel 7 Pro. I still have the pixel 5, though, and I tested this rom on the device before uploading and sharing here.
The March update was super late coming from Google, and the Evolution-X team was making a bunch of changes during this time (and they still are.) So consider this release an off-cycle release.
I was also having trouble building the ROM for a few weeks due to my laptop's RAM (32GB) being fried but not really making it clear to me that that was the problem. I had been using Qubes as my OS but have since gone back to good 'old Linux Mint. I liked Qubes but it's kinda a pain to constantly fuss with allocating the USB drives and I suspect the constant use of my 32GB of RAM to run all the virtual machines therein contributed to the premature death of my RAM cards (~1 yr old).
I build this ROM in the same tree as for my Pixel 7 Pro, so I should continue to make updates going forward for the Pixel 5. I'm planning on adding the Pixel 3XL and OG Pixel ("sailfish") as well, since I own all those phones, too.
Due to this trouble with my PC, the pathways to my keys (the ones you can see in /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip, you can see it includes the entire pathway where the keys are actually located in my PC) changed and I think that's why you have to clear data on this ROM. I'm also using a different Github repo now, too, as part of a rebranding process I'm doing.
Enjoy!

If the worst that could happen is having to factory reset and start over if it doesn't work then I'll give it a shot.

Please, cann you try bt headphone volume? On prew build was litlebit low.
got some freezes here and there when adjusting quick settings and had to reboot, but all in all seems to be a nice rom.
only thing i'm missing are advanced navbar settings like "force close active app when holding back-button"
also "connectivity thermal power manager" apparently draws way to much battery
@aleph.mercury I really do enjoy this rom but is there any chance that we can get Now Playing working on this ROM? I tried to enable it through the settings and it does nothing.

I want to say that I tried to install it on the unbound evolution x rom and it didn't work I ended up in a bootloop, have you tried it on this rom yet
Edit: It works on this rom
seems that "connectivity thermal power manager" and "com.android.hbmsvmanager" are drawing way to much power. together they drew like 50% and i had to recharge my phone midday, which usually never happens
