Woah this is so cool! Didn't think we would ever see another ROM for this device. I will be able to test for H850 if you like.
Thanks, will give this a try some time soon.
Gave it a shot and I think it has a lot of potential, but there are a few things that I request to be added or fixed.
-I couldn't get google assistant / voice match to work
-Lawnchair launcher is the default launcher, which is great as that is what I normally use. However the settings for it seem to be a lot more limited compared to the version I use. I couldn't find the option to double tap to sleep, or disable google's left of home swipe etc.
-The color adjustment found in LOS is missing. The default colors on the G5 are very 'cool' or blue tinted. The simple RGB adjustment available in LOS not only helps with that, but also with image retention.
I had very limited time using the ROM, but those were my findings. If these things get added or addressed I think this could be a very nice ROM for me.

Also encountered same problem as official LOS 18.1, when installing with OBB apps like PUBG mobile, etc from Playstore, it doesn't install. Tried using taptap, says "OBB folder can't be created". Tried manual download of APK and OBB file, but obb folder seems missing on /Android folder. When you try to create new folder /Android/obb, it renames to /Android/obb(2). It seems like /Android/obb folder is hidden and untouchable unlike in official LOS 17.1.
BTW am using RS988 variant.

Hmm not really sure about this sorry
Nice rom, really. I've been looking for a rom other than LOS because I had issues with phone app and incoming calls. Anyway, just a few notes from me hoping you can add!
-Fast charging isn't working- that's the most important
-It didn't have a camera app(I downloaded Google Camera, but it doesn't have an option for wide angle Camera)
-NFC not working
-Double tap to lock screen(pleaseee add it)
-Lighthouse supplies didn't work on me either
That's pretty much it! Hoping you can do something about it. Other than those it's very smooth and nice!

Hey there! About the fast charging , it seems to be inconsistent on my end too , sometimes working sometimes not , I'll try to see whats causing that. For the camera app I forgot to add it to h850 builds it'll come in the next build sorry about that , also for wide angle support try cstark27s port. Yes NFC does not work i'll add it to the known issues and try adressing that too. Double tap to lock screen is something to do with the default launcher , hopefully it'll be added in the future aaaand Supplies is currently under construction so it'll FC for now, thanks for the feedback!

Thx for your work.
Right now my H850 is on LOS18.1. with UI Nova Prime.
My issues here are:
NFC, FM-Radio, IR-Blaster are all not working.
OpenCamera works with Wide angle lens.
Fast charge it does always no matter what charger I use.
As it's my main phone I don't dare to switch yet but won't mind in general.
Can you compare the included Gapps to Opengapps versions please?
I.e. how much/many Google stuff comes with your ROM.
Usually (on other devices) I use either Opengapps pico or the even smaller BitGapps. Here it had to be NikGapps64.

Be certain to do a full backup of your music, photos, data, apps, call logs, sms/text and so on before flashing.
Coming from a firmware version prior official 4.x, you must flash 4.0.2 official Oxygen OS (NO BETA) and do a full wipe, then flash TWRP, then full wipe, then flash OmniROM.
You MUST DO A FULL WIPE, whether you are coming from homemade builds , or a previous version of OmniROM, because OmniROM is signed with different keys, and it will not boot otherwise.
GAPPS must be flashed BEFORE initial boot, they will NOT work properly if you flash them afterwards !!!

Short report of first weekly:
Battery and overall performance is pretty good, everything works as expected.
Some things I found:
1. Scroll speed is a bit low, doesn't feel as smooth as Laos or OOS
2. Fingerprint sensor isn't working always after opening the flipcase
Beside that this is a real good custom ROM. Only thing I miss featurewise is the settings to configure hardware buttons (long press and double tab)

Thanks for your answer and yes, I do use the right firmware. It works most times, but sometimes it seems to not correctly get the "Proximity Sensor is free" information. But that can be also a hardware issue as I have had that on OOS too, also not that often (and only one time at LAOS) so I thought it might be worth mentioning.
I did some Android ROM development myself (PSX, Exodus) so I know how frustrating it could be if only one user reports an issue. That's why I think it's important that everybody reports such hard unreproducible issues so you at least can see it's not a one user issue only (or maybe see it's an one user issue ) if many report it, there might be chances to find reasons (same app used etc.)

@maxwen might be able to answer that one, he's also using a flip cover, but I would have heard of it by now if he encountered such issue ... Actually, proximity sensor is hell sensitive on my side (maybe too much ^^').

Camera is a bit different than LOS although we're still using HAL1 for Snapdragon camera, same as they are, and since it works as is, I prefer to wait for Oneplus to release their stuff for camera before touching (therefore breaking something else) anything. I've got some work planned on this, no ETA, but I really closely look at what's doable. What I want is improved camera features with an acceptable quality. I will keep you informed whenever I make progress on this, but I really can't give an ETA on this

For me personally, I'm experiencing the same bugs that I did on LOS17.1.
-Arnova's advanced Gcam 1.7 doesn't work (HDR processing freezes, can't take video etc.)
-Stock camera works, but video can't be played in gallery app, must use third-party player
-NFC doesn't seem to be working (tapping NFC in the quick settings does nothing and remains gray)
As some may know, there's an issue I've had in LOS since v16, with notifications not popping up in deep sleep until I manually wake my phone. This issue is happily not present in this rom for me.
Anyway, thanks for your work on this rom @ROMSG. I do have a few questions though:
1. Is there a way to adjust the AOSP keyboard height? It's a bit too 'short' for my liking. The number row is a welcome addition, but it makes the keyboard too compressed than what I'm used to. I could easily just get gboard but if I can adjust the height, the AOSP keyboard would be good enough.
2. This seems to be with all android 10 builds, but there was a toggle for the default messaging app to enable pop on notifications while the screen is on -- however this setting is grayed out in all android 10 builds for the G5 it seems. I personally like the little drop down preview when I receive a notification/sms while the screen is on.
3. When I'm charging my phone, it says that it's slow charging. I'm using the original charger that came with my phone. FWIW, my phone was at ~88%, so maybe it was trickle charging the last bit? I'll need to test this when it's lower.
I'm using an RS988 btw.
for keyboard hight use google keyboart thas the best keyboard.
for popup notification open developer settings and in last click bubble notification.
and for slow charging thats usb cable issue reinsert the c type cable and u shuld hear a click sound when u insert it in phone...

Yeah I might just go with gboard.
The popup setting in the dev settings doesn't seem to work. Also I spoke too soon about the sms/deep sleep issue I'm having -- unfortunately I have it in this as well.
As far as the charging, I'll have to try it when I charge my phone next. I haven't seen this with LOS though. I noticed this in Blaises RR build, too.
All in all it seems like a nice rom.

If you have 16.0 go to 17.1 for sure.
But, if you still have stock or 15, and want your phone with no bugs, then don't install.
The bugs in 16 and 17.1 are not that bothering for me.
then main bug that bothers me is hdr processing in gcam and hd videos sometimes shows can not play..... except these bugs its a daily driver...

So I finally charged my phone just now from 16% charge, and initially it said that it was slow charging, but then it went to rapid charging. I checked again at 80% and it said slow charging again. I don't think anything is wrong or different from any other rom though, as it took around 1hr 20-30min to charge, which is perfectly normal.
Used this rom for a good day and half now and it seems perfectly stable. Battery life seems great, too. Hopefully NFC, the camera and my notification issue can get fixed (which are again present in LOS17.1 as well) and this rom will be a great daily driver.
So I've been experimenting with Treble on our g5 and so far I've got a treble-ized rom to build bu gsi's aren't booting I think it may have something to do with the error described in this commit. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
ROMSG
I love this rom. Thanks for making this.
There is an annoying message before showing lockscreen which says "press and hold power button to unlock". When I press and hold then I should scroll up, and then enter my pattern.
How to disable that first screen? because sometimes it doesn't allow the flash light to turn on with holding power button.

LineageOS needs no introductions. This is an unofficial port of Nougat for the LeapFrog Epic, a children's educational Android tablet released in 2015 yet still hasn't received a major operating system update since then, despite the Epic being (theoretically) capable of running anything newer than Kitkat, or perhaps even PostmarketOS for that matter.
- EVEN MORE IMPORTANT:
The ROM will only work with an unlocked bootloader which removes signature enforcement on both SP Flash Tool and whenever the tablet boots up. Links to the hacked preloader, LK and TWRP recovery image can be found here. Flashing these can be a risky proposition so it is advised to do a full EMMC backup of the device prior to modding your Epic. A backup procedure can be found on this blog post.
- IMPORTANT:
You should only flash Magisk via TWRP as updating or installing it via the manager will cause a boot loop. In case you end up with such an issue just flash the ROM again and you should be fine.
Also, this does not come with a kids' mode UI and will cut you off from LeapFrog online services such as the App Centre and the Academy programme. You may however download the LeapFrog Academy app from the Play Store (assuming you installed an OpenGapps package, duh...) Whether it is possible to bring back the kids and parents launcher along with some services through a flashable zip is yet to be determined, but that wouldn't be a priority issue for now.
Installation instructions
- Unlock the bootloader and install TWRP
- Boot to TWRP by pressing volume up + power
- Wipe system, data and cache
- Install the LineageOS zip you just downloaded
- ...
- PROFIT!

Thanks guys! I'm actually tempted to port Pie or 10 to the Epic based on the efforts of one dude who did a similar feat on his Galaxy S2, but I thought it would be a monumental task especially with 10 requiring system-as-root.

Thanks! We actually tried using your kernel at some point but that proved to be a pain to set up, so we decided to just kang the kernel sources and blobs off @Stricted's ttab build instead.
That being said we do need some aid on optimising the build though, but this is hampered by the fact that not everyone has an Epic with them, not unless they have kids who outgrew this device lol.
@Ziona @ggow Any ideas on how to fix them lingering issues with the battery tho?

I'm going to help if possible, but bare in mind without having a test device its extremely hard to aid in this well.

That wont be possible, did you also get to confirm that the device is entering deep sleep state , an not stuck in Partial Wake Lock.

If the device is not then battery will suffer.
Try by adding smart kernel manager app an check deep sleep state after screen is off a minute or so an then back on.
On first screen menu theirs a CPU uptime listing, check if no deep sleep is listed .

Lol that spam wasn't expected.
Anyway, I'd like to continue on with this, but my friends and I do need help in regards to the issues I outlined in the first page.
Nice work!
Is this a practically usable build, or more of an experimental project? My son (5 1/2yrso) has an Epic and I'm terribly frustrated at how dated it has become simply because of KitKat rather than the actual hardware. I wanted to put PBS Kids Games app on it this morning and it's giving me an about Crosswalk Project Services. I tried manually installing that and it still just doesn't work.
If this is just an experimental project, is there anything post-KitKat that would be for me?
Thanks, and again, Great Work!

Apologies for the late reply, but I've been busy lately with various other matters so I haven't really had the time to tend to this project. It is for the most part functional, but battery life is abysmal and hardware video codecs are for some reason not working.

Hey, FOD on lockscreen make the screen flicker once and FOD animations aren't working.
Anti Flicker (DC Dimming) doesn't seem to work too.
Safetynet doesn't pass, I checked with Magisk without root.
Otherwise, good job on implementing Face Unlock, Asus stitch and App Lock

This should be fixed now on the new update.
PS I've moved the face unlock on pin/pass code screen to at least save some camera pop up life
Thanks for this very good ROM. I just migrated yesterday from MIUI12 to your ROM. Everything works, and battery life seems to be good.
I only found one thing: fingerprint screen sensor does not work when screen is off. Google indicates that this is probably a LIneage thing. I enabled 'double tap' to wake as a reasonable bypass.

hi thanks for the feedback. Im aware of the screen off FOD thing and will try to implement it on the next builds. If you'll notice, battery health nodes isnt working as well as I forgot the sepolicy, though I already have it working on my phone, Ill push the fix on the next update along with the security patches.
Hi, I have used your ROM one working day. It is working great, and battery life is much better than in MIUI12!!
I discovered one bug:
Every incoming phone call, doesn't give the name of the caller, but "unknown"; even when the caller is definitely in my contacts list (just tested with my wife calling me).
If you need more info, just let met know.

BTW, can you confirm which build you are using (Vanilla or Gapps)
Tried replicating on my device but it's showing on my phone correctly. (I used vanilla and Nikgapps core with Google Dialer/Contacts)
If it's on vanilla and you do not have Google Dialer/Contacts, please try checking your Default Phone app through settings and see if that solve's the issue.
I am using the Gapps build.
The dialer info is attached.
The strange thing is that the SMS that I receive after the call (to indicate the missed call) DOES indicate the contacts name.

log file attached again, because I didn't see it in this forum post

You can also message me on TG @markkey014
PS. I might have already found a way to enable Screen off FOD and build is ongoing. If this one is successful, I'll upload the build shortly.

Very smooth ROM good job
I like custom roms, but non i've used have floating windows like miui. I can't live without floating windows since i love to multi task. You can argue that split screen is the same, but too me it isn't since i can move around anywhere. Plus it's easier to start a floating windows with the gesture than clicking manually to do a split screen.
if their's any rom that has floating windows i would switch in a heartbeat
Hello
I notice that Camera Google cant get update from Play Store, just getting error like " The application could not be installed" Any solution? Or which app for taking pictures right now is the best one that will use the potential of the camera ours X4 PRO?
is there a way to add dc dimming option? or enabling it in the rom?

Use the app list and enter settings to disable the GCam light as you wont be needing it, then go on whe web and download this version of Gcam:
MGC_8.6.101_A9_GV1zfix_MGC apk , should be around 101MB size.
All functions work, HDR works, google white balance is a little off but I work it around by using saturation in post processing via photos app.

I use it as a daily driver for 3 weeks now. Prime Video works, most streaming apps work, banking apps work. Bascially I didn't come across an app that I was using on stock that doesn't work.
Only feature I'm missing in this ROM is the DOLBY Atmos Audio. Other than that, the ROM is good.
I do notice that in my opinion, the battery life is a bit reduced compared to STOCK Android, especially when watching videos constantly. I ususally was able to charge the phone to 100, go about my day, use it daily, get 3 hours of youtube streaming on 90% brightness and come home after the day with 25-30% juice. Now it seems I get like 8-12% battery left at the end of the day. But If I don't watch videos or keep the screen on a lot, I thunk the battery runs even better than Stock MIUI. No idea where the difference comes from.

The last update broke the NFC module. Payments don't work, Quick Settings NFC tile is greyed out
Hey , I installed this rom and I got some bugs. When I scroll down the quick settings , I get some stutter and fps drop. My phone maximum brightness is reduced but the minimum brightness is also reduced . Dolby doesn't work ( but that's common ) . My phone was slow in all aspects. Aside from this I have a bug ( in custom roms and in stock roms) where Instagram reels will stutter if the video is high quality is this a software issue or an hardware one , because this doesn't occur on high quality videos on YouTube or Netflix or other ott platforms . Does anyone face the same issues ?? If you have a fix then please help me ( for the Instagram one and the quick setting bug in custom roms) , thanks... Peace

Same problem to me, any suggestion?
How do bank apps work on this ROM? I'm thinking about installing it.
Thank you!
PS: I see it broke the NFC module... Bummer. I would have LOVED having unlimited Google Photos without rooting my phone...
the latest update broke the NFC, it greyed out on quick settings. And also cannot install magisk module on boot.img, I've tried using patched boot.img and magisk zip installer from recovery, both ways give me zero result, the rom cannot be rooted, it worked before the latest update
This rom is almost perfect. The only issue I got is my 67 watt charger(charger in the box) only outputs less than 20 watts power to my phone when charging. Is there any workaround to fix this issue?
