Some epub Books (for bookreader on sence)

I noticed there isn't a post about epub books on the leo area so thought i mite share a link i found. thank patcat for the links

Converting different format ebooks
Use calibre to convert books, once done there will be a epub format file and a image file. rename the image to the epub name and do a copy of it. rename the copied file and add _thumb to it and then transfer it to the phone or memory card
Adding a cover - In Calibre, right click on the book that you wish to use press edit meta information and then edit meta data individually. There is a option for the program to search for a cover or manually add one. adding one yourself click the printer like book icon in the bottom right hand side and select the picture.
Converting them - select all the files in Calibre, right click - convert ebooks then convert individually. once done just open where you selected them to save to when you installed the program. any problems not finding them go to prefrences and it should be at the top just copy that and paste into my computer or somting.

Create a " My Documents " folder
In there create a folder called " Reader "
In Reader Create two folders, once called " Books " and the other " Images "
Put the files into the folders, epub for books and images for their images
Use the Ebook Indexer on patcats post, it will first detect the books on the phone and then on the memory card.
Note the books on the link dont need converting just move to the correct folders. One last thing remember to thank patcat on his post .

i got a problem with calibre converting pdf files to epub: turkish characters are gone after converting, there are only "?" instead of them... any idea?

Internet Shortcut Tabs

Is there a way to refresh the internet shortcut tabs so that they will show current web pages??? Also one of my pages didn't load all the way so my Internet Shortcut tab has a half loaded page on it...This is ridiculous!!!

I figured it out! Go to \Windows\Thumbnails and delete them all. Then reload your webpage once you have a 3G Connection... Plus it would help if I upgraded to Opera 10

Hi, it sounds like you have found a solution to your problem; however, I thought I would let you know that you can create your own images for the internedt tab thumbnails. Rather than have a mini-screenshot type thing that is currently there simply make an icon (in PhotoShop, Fireworks, Corel or whatever your preferred image editing app is).
To implement this, do as follows:
*Copy the PNG files from the Windows/Thumbnails directory to your PC.
*Open each in your image editing software.
*The current size is not really necessary and can make for a larger file size. Reduce the canvas down to 128x128 (this seems to produce a reasonable image without too much resolution loss).
*Create your icon/preferred thumbnail image.
*Save as PNG8 (with alpha transperancy if you want a transparent background). PNG8 will keep your filesize down.
*Remember when you save to keep the same filename. It should be a long string of numbers and letters.
*Copy your new files back to your device Windows/Thumbnails directory.
*Voila! New thumbnails, no mini screenshots.
The reason you want to keep your file sizes down is so that there is no lag time when you get to the internet tab. If you have large files, it takes a minute for the tab to load the thumbnails.

Something happened when I deleted my cache files and my thumbnails. I tried placing several internet tabs back but they will not load. Netflix, CNN, ESPN..etc..etc... the only ones that show up in the internet tabs favorites are new pages/favorites that I have not added or been to before.

Having exactly the same problem. Looking for a fix.

I am unsure whether Windows or Manila creates a random number for the file name when a new thumbnail is produced. I suspect this may be the case.
If the file names tend to be the same then I can send you some of mine to test.
I have attached an images of my thumbnails and file names. Perhaps this will help. I'm happy to share the files if it will be of assistance; however, I suspect that the file names may not be the same as yours.

Yes, I have files in the Windows\Thumbnails folder, but only the new once that I create.
When I recreate a quick link that was used in the past (CNN….) No Thumbnails is created in the Windows\Thumbnails folder.

If you want those images to change to the actual picture of the site when you open them, instead of the old picture of what the site looked like when you first opened it, change this registry key: HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/VisualBookmark/UpdateOnce to 0 instead of 1.

I checked again, the moment I delete a Thumbnails related to a site, I can't assign again any image to that site (to replace the "globe" image).

Hi all,
Has anybody found a fix or know how to sort it out?
Deleted my thumbnails and now can't change the icon from a globe.

Here you go, I have made the attached thumbnails for you (using your original filenames).
I have included an image showing the new thumbnails and associated filenames.
All you need to do is copy and paste the files into 'device/windows/thumbnail' folder using Resco, Total Commander or similar. Overwrite the files that are currently in the folder.
That's it! It's done!
Go have a look at our internet tab and you will find the new thumbnails are displayed.
Note: I have a copy of your original files as a backup.

Thank a lot

Ok, I never had this problem until now and I've done this countless times. My custom Youtube shortcut reverts back to the default thumbnail when I click on it. The others shortcuts are fine. Something like this can drive me nuts kinda...Any ideas guys? Thanks.
Edit: The problem has affected all the shortcuts.

I had the same problem - after deleting the thumbnails I couldn't get them back. New shortcuts to new URL's worked, but everything else just gave the globe.
The solution that worked for me was to delete vb.vol in \windows (I stumbled across this after reading the "Manual Backup Stuff - Manila/Sense Internet Tab Shortcuts" section of http //whirlpool.net.au/wiki/htc_hd2_backup )
Don't have a solution for auto-updating the thumbnails, though

[Q] Export S Note Audio?

Anyone have luck extracting stuff from SNB files, or just exporting the audio from S Note? I have been taking all my class notes in S Note this semester, and while I can export my writing to PDF, I can't export the audio in case I want to do something with it later.

A possible solution, from a Windows PC. Sync your .SNB files to a PC somehow (Dropbox, USB cable, etc.). On the PC, change the .snb extension to .zip. Windows Explorer can then open the resulting folder. Hopefully you will find a usable audio file in there, if Samsung is using a standard audio format. But I haven't used this find audio, I just played around with it to see if changing it to .zip was a way to access the notes images without converting. It wasn't, as the note image I found was sized more like a thumbnail than a readable image.

rename files from .snb to .zip then open in explorer
that will solve your issue. go into the snote folder in the zip file and then the media. the .jpg files will be images of your notes.

Can I ask you how you knew (other than playing around with it) to change the extension from .snb to .zip? Just trying to wrap my head around why this works.

Well, when you are dealing with an unknown format for the first time, it's always helpful to open in a hex editor and check for the first bytes, which usually act as file header to indicate file type.
in .SNB file case, this translates in ASCII characters PK
which means its a package file... from where you can try to unpack it; i.e. unzip it in case it's a zip package.
or you can always have 7Zip as your best companion, and first thing that comes in mind is to try and open it as a package through the context menu to see what is there.
Then normally you should look for an xml file or any structured format file that lists the content of the package.

Just to set the record straight, PK does not stand for Package - it stands for Phil Katz, the inventor of the Zip format. The original program (on DOS) was called PKZip and it quickly became the standard instead of ARC ("Archive") files that had been invented by SEA (System Enhancement Associates). SEA sued Phil Katz because of his clone of their tool (and use of their trademark), which he called called PKArc (later renamed to PKPak).
So he started over and created the competing Zip format that eventually prevailed (he open-sourced the format). Unfortunately, he had a troubled life and died from an overdose of alcohol. You can read about it more at the PKware web site, wikipedia and many other sources on the web (including a somewhat angry diatribe by the founders of SEA).

Files

Is there any way to open an .msg file? Our main website for my job uses .msg files. I download the files to my tablet but it will not open them. Is there a way around this or something to convert these files into something I can open on my tablet?

Convert it to a text file or pdf file then open it. Google how to convert msg files.

Or Google android .msg viewer and look at the top several hits. I can't recommend one as I don't do. Msg files but the first hit is a free application with decent ratings so it's worth a try.

Finding the save file of modded apk

Halo,
currently I am playing a modded APK game. I want to save the data to my computer. I tried to find the save file in "Android\data "but it is not there…not even the folder (in both memory)..I would like to know how to find it?

Try to use a tool that lets you search your file system and just do a global search, it won't take long and if it is there you will know 100%, if it doesn't give you results back, then the file hasn't been saved properly.
