Question Anyone get Vanced YouTube working? - OnePlus 9

I downloaded the Vanced App, but it's not letting me install with the latest or downgraded YT. I was able to get Vanced YT Music however. Anyone have any luck with this?

Is the current version you have installed the same version, or lower than Vanced?

Used the Debloater Magisk module to get rid of the YouTube system app and was able to install the root version.

The lowest downgradable version is still higher than the Vanced version, which I'm guessing is the problem.

Was also going to mention the debloater option but someone else beat me to the punch. Glad you got it working now though!

For anyone having issues, you can always use the non-root standalone version of vanced. It works 100% of the time.

Yes I got it working, used vanced installer

Only problem with this is it has problems with opening links as if it were the regular youtube app. Not the worst thing ever, but it's a big enough con for me.

Rooted unlocked global op9. I got it up and running tonight. Using magisk vanced module and flashing through magisk. Using either of these modules. Uninstall update to youtube prior. And I use detach through magisk to keep it off of update list and detach from playstore.

Why not just link to the files on the official website? That's just suspicious af

On all 4 devices I use original Vanced is still running without any trouble. Just delete the system YT and I use a LSPosed module to prevent YT from updating. I have no YT account and user it on a de-googled device with /e/OS ROM

I will not trust these files. The recommended method from ReVanced developers to build your own YouTube ReVanced is with ReVanced Manager or the ReVanced CLI, or you can use the reputable NodeJS ReVanced Builder.

NewPipe - Customize the pages in settings to your liking and resubscribe, then set for backup of you settings to drive. Never look back. Vanced is dead.

I used the nonroot version on my S8+ and switched to the magisk module ever since I got my 5T.
Works great on OOS Oreo beta2
I've used the iYTBP as well for a long time. Unfortunately the Open Beta 2 upgrade broke the Picture in Picture functionality and I had to disable it from the iYTBP menu. Background playback works but PiP will cause the system ui to force close immediately. I've tried uninstalling the magisk module and removing all youtube related. Then I dirty flashed the OB2 and installed the iYTBP in the old way. Any ideas what to do next? It seems the Picture in Picture is working for you guys?

Works for me.
You may need to update the module.
I had to toggle PIP for YouTube off then back on though.
Try that and see if it works for you.

Toggle pip and try clearing cache and data of YouTube along with disabling and enabling it back to get original app
Turns out I had pressed hide button in Magisk manager so that the system ui couldn't see iYTB. That was causing the system ui to force close when in PiP mode. (I've hidden the magisk root from all the apps that doesn't need it. My banking application detects root if some mysterious process that I haven't figured out has root access.)

Youtube Vanced won't install on OP6

Hey there,
I've tried installing Youtube Vanced a couple of times on my OP6 but to no avail so I would like some help from you guys!
I"m following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-youtube-vanced-edition-t3758757
This are the steps I'm doing:
Download the ytva-universal-installer-v3.0.zip
Download the White/Dark arm64-v8a.apk from the "Rooted downloads" section
Move both the .zip and .apk to my phone
Boot into TWRP
Install the ytva-universal-installer-v3.0.zip
Reboot system
Auto-updates have been disabled in the playstore.
Youtube has been unistalled from my phone.
I've recreated these steps with the armeabi-v7a .apk, but that did not work either.
Downloading and installing it within Magisk did not work either.
Am I doing something wrong? I'd like your help.
Thank you in advance.

Hey, Simply use magisk just uninstall all version of YouTube and install modules via magisk [emoji6]
Envoyé de mon ONEPLUS A6003 en utilisant Tapatalk
I installed it as a module in magisk. Reboot. Done. Everything working?
I downloaded the apk version and the universal installer and the "ytva_use_this_settings.sh".
then, i edited the config file to detach youtube from the playstore (so i can get rid of the update notification).
Then just used magisk to flash the zip installer

youtube magisk module

The youtube magisk is not working for me ..can someone help or suggest what to do?
Uninstall current YouTube, download and flash YouTube vanced edtion from the download section within magisk, reboot - should be good to go.
If you update YouTube in the play store it will overide the vanced version.

Youtube Vanced icon problem [MAGISK]

I removed official youtube app and I installed YouTube vanced by using Magisk Module, but I have this problem: the app name is "com.google.android.youtube" and there isn't any image.
Do someone knows the problem?

Did you manage to fix that? I have the same problem.
Same here on my pico F1, on crDroid.
What's more, when I switch between apps, vanced is not in the list of recent apps.
Edit: reinstall fixed missing from recent apps. Drawer icon still broken.

Question Can't remove system apps

I'm trying to run vanced YouTube on my pixel 7 Pro. Vanced manager manager still working on my op9pro...but I need to delete all remnants of the stock YouTube app from my device.
I'm unlocked and rooted. Titanium backup shows the error "can't locate APK". I'm trying to do it manually with root explorer. The YouTube and YouTube music APKs are located in /product/app/YouTube. I cannot delete these files and root explorer won't allow me to change the permissions of these folders. I also tried adb but that just hides them, I need to remove any and all files associated with the stock YouTube system app.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm not looking to hide these apps, I'm looking to permanently remove them from the phone.

[SOLVED] Revanced working?
Did anyone try installing revanced manager on the P7P? Get it working? I installed the manager and it doesn't seem to see when I patch the youtube apk. It goes through the process of patching the youtube apk. I installed using non-root methods...

@rester555, @EtherealRemnant, and some others got it working well enough....and I don't think they had to go through the trouble of deleting "all remnants" of the stock app. You might be used to a bit of an outdated method or particular to your previous device method because I believe it's been a long time since you had to remove the stock app to get it to work -- at the very least on my Pixel 5 A11 rooted, I used Vanced manager and it would merely overwrite/replace my stock app; I just had to make sure to turn off auto-update as Google would insist on re-installing/updating it back to stock...
In any case, the thread below is where a bunch of them got it to work well enough on the P7P (without the need to remove the stock app, i believe)

EDIT
Sorry for re-iterating what netgar posted. He got his post in before while I was still drafting mine...
Just disable the app. You can do it natively. Go like you're going to uninstall the app and you'll see disable.
I did disable it. Only problem now is I can't install an older YouTube APK from APK mirror in order to patch it with revanced lol. Phone is giving me an error when I try to install an older version of YouTube.

I'm not familiar with using the builder, but I saw EtherealRemnant have success with it, so that's why I @'d him. Glad he/it helped!
I got it working. Although I'm rooted, I had to use the non root method with microg in order to get it working
Even though I got it working, I'm still kind of pissed I can't delete certain system apps off my device. Huge reasoning for rooting in the first place is to have ultimate control over my device. Can anyone shed some light on why I can't remove certain system apps or provide a working method to do so?
Just did the "Install as root" option and it installed just fine. I did uninstall all updates followed by installing apk of recommended version with no issues on my end

Root these days is systemless. The best you can do is disable apps or uninstall them from your user profile with adb.

i know it's old and EOL, but can't Titanium Backup "freeze" system apps? It's been a while (years), so I'm working off of memory and just basing it off of what I kinda remember and can't be too sure...
Open a Command Terminal, grant root access by typing "su"
This command works for me to delete system apps (youtube for example):
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.youtube
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.apps.youtube.music
Have you tried that one?
