Google Camera on my Pixel 4a doesn't have Cinematic pan when using Video capture? - General Questions and Answers

I already toggled on the Video stabilization in the GCcam Settings, but still GCam doesn't have the Cinematic pan in may options, GCam only opts Standard stabilization. I'm using version 8.2.204.362396359.12. My Pixel 4a build number is RQ2A.210405.005.

Is 48 MP camera supported ?
There's no 48mp option in this app.
thank you sir
but the portrait isn't making use of the second lens (depth lens) on Realme X
I tried taking portrait while covering the second lens and without covering, and the results were the same... though they were great
I am a casual photographer and I always find BSG Gcam to be superior to other ports. Pictures come out more detailed, sharp and crisp. I am not sure about panorama, wide angle, 10X 50X 100X zoom, moonlight sunlight etc as I do not use them. The only port which comes close to BSG is Arnova's gcam. But unfortunately, it's not available for Realme X.
P.S. Do you know all GCAM ports are based on BSG. He was the guy who started it all.

New 8.10 Camera app update.

How many stabilization modes you guys have on your 4xl after the update? I know the pixel 5 has 4 but I only see 2 right now. Standard and cinematic pan.
Same.

Pixel 5, 4a (5G) have 4 (Standard, Cinematic, locked, actions)
Pixel 4, 4XL have 2 (Standard and cinematic)
All others have only 1 (standard)
Hi,
how can I turn on in 8.1 cam soft 720p rec mode eg . auto/30fps/60fps with h.265 ?
It seems that it is missing option in new soft. I think it is very usefull because of a video files size. I do need use all the time 1080p , specially in low light contisions.
What do you think ?

Can you turn on video stabilization on modes other than 1080p30fps?

Hello,
Some reviews of Poco X3 claim the phone has video image stabilization in every recording mode including 1080p60fps and 4k30fps, however for me it's available only in 1080p30fps. How does it look like for you guys? Can you turn on the image stabilization on 1080p60fps or 4k30fps?
I am using a stable MIUI 12.0.4 EEA rom. Of course I am talking about the Xiaomi Camera app.
These are my general camera settings:
screenshot 1
As you can see the second option from the top says 'Image Stabilization' enabled.
With those settings I can freely switch my video recording modes:
screenshot 2
What I am actually talking about is the little button on the top of the general camera area that enables image stabilization, the yellow one on top left:
screenshot 3
With that setting enabled and 'Video stabilization' pop up showing up, I can only record in 1080p30fps as you can see here:
screenshot 4
Do the settings look the same for you? Can you switch between recording modes when Video Stabilization is enabled?
The reason why I am making the thread is that some reviewers, like this one (at 6:10), claim that Poco X3 has image stabilization in 4k, however in my experience, and some other people's (1:05), it does not have that feature in modes other than 1080p30fps.
What's your story, guys?
Sorry if the screenshots are too large, I cannot resize them. EDIT: I actually replaced them with URLs for now.
Cheers,
Chris
Truth be told, it does not matter that much. The Poco X3 does not have OIS, only EIS and even that does not work that well.
I do know it is software only but it does work in comparison with my previous phone which didn't offer even the EIS and the difference is noticeable, at least in my opinion.
However, there is not much difference between 4k30fps no EIS and 1080p30fps EIS enabled, as far as I can say based on one short test I made. I will have to test that further
Still, some people online recommend Poco X3 to others based on its ability to enable EIS on 4k, which I would like to debunk, if it is not true after all.
I think there is stabilization on all modes. The option which is only available for 1080p30fps is like additional stabilization i think. Maybe noticeable on mountain biking.
Stabilization is on, and working fine, with all resolutions up to 4K30FPS.
The option you enabled that is set to 1080p30FPS is "Steady Mode" which uses ultra-wide lens and crop it to achieve more stabilization (check the viewfinder and you'll see the angle is in between wide and ultra-wide) good for extra shaky situations

Question pixel 7 pro over-sharpened portrait photos

Pixel 7 pro over sharpens the images taken via portrait mode and in normal lense too. Any solution or mod Gcam is available?
Here is modded gcam discussion thread.

Question Video Encode/Decode Problem, Hardware or Software?

Hi, I have a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G (codename: VEUX, verified using adb) Indonesia version (model: 2201116SG). Right now I'm using Evolution X ver 7.3 (build Nov 20, 2022). Before, I'm using stock MIUI Global 13.0.2.0 (RKCIDXM). I posted this thread to present my findings about this phone, and hopefully find a fix.
I was trying to find a suitable GCam port for this phone, but ONLY Arnova8G2's ver 8.4.300 GCam port that works in this phone. All other ports will crash or show black screen when using Video recording mode. However, photo mode works just fine in all GCam ports. I can even add auxiliary cameras and enable the tele/macro and ultrawide lens. The problem reappears, however, when I enable aux cam in Arnova8G2's GCam port. The app keeps crashing when I switch to video mode, and I need to clear app data and cache to get it working again.
I've also installed Open Camera by Mark Harman, and tried to record 1920x1080 video, but it says "Failed to record video". The highest resolution I can get is 1600x900. Lowering the FPS didn't help, It says "Sorry, frame rate not supported on your device".
Playing 1920x1080 videos (whether 30 or 60fps) worked just fine using Google Photos. If the resolution is higher than that, then Google Photos and any media player will refuse to play it. The highest video resolution I can play is 1080x2040, even a 1080x2400 video (same resolution as the display) results in the same error.
I haven't tried recording and playing 1080p videos back in stock MIUI, but judging from the Live Wallpaper Bug Thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/dynamic-wallpaper-mi-video-bugs.4439695/), the problem might persist in stock ROM.
I know that the Snapdragon 695 SoC has a hardware limitation of recording video up to [email protected] But, this thing was like "GIVE ME A VIDEO THAT IS EXACTLY 1080x2040, OR ELSE. AND DON'T EVEN THINK TO RECORD AT 1080p!!". I still have my old Redmi S2 (codename: YSL), and just for reference, I tried installing one of the GCam port file that I've used in this phone. Guess what, the Arnova8G2 version didn't work, but other GCam port works perfectly. I installed BSG 8.1 GV2b in Redmi S2, and managed to record [email protected], although it crashed in like 3 seconds. Playing a 1920x1080 30fps video (a much higher resolution than the 720p display that the Redmi S2 has) using Google Photos also works, although as expected, the video is very choppy.
So, In conclusion, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is picky about what video to play and record. This might be a hardware problem, because it persist even in different ROMs. If this really is a hardware problem, then It's kinda suck, 'cause I need to record important video occasionally. Oh well, I'll need to use other tricks just for recording video then. I wanna hear what you guys thought about this though.
We been struggling with this since this phone came out, but i been playing videos up to 4k on mx player without a problem
still no solution to record 4k tho
Is a hardware limitation from the snapdragon processor. There is no way of make 4K recording in this device.
4K playback is fine.
Aw bummer. Welp, on the bright side, I've finally managed to find a perfect GCam, It's BSG's GCam MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix_MGC. Everything works, including video recording up to [email protected], front camera works, slow motion, etc.
