Hi. I'm from Poland where we have LTE standard, but my phone is ignoring that and still showing 4g icon. Is there any solution to change? I won't to do factory reset.
And one more thing... Is there a LTE +/4g+ on Pixel 4a ? My other phone show IT but Pixel never do that. Thanks
4G is LTE
My phone says 4G too. An older phone would be more explicit about the technology (eg. 4, H, H+) but I guess Google or Android doesn't do that anymore.
Maybe this helps?
Network Type Indicator - Apps on Google Play
Status bar indicator of the type of mobile network in use (e.g. 2G, 3G, 4G, ...)

Hi! If you are rooted, you can change it. There could be xml file:
Code:
/data_mirror/data_de/null/0/com.android.phone/files/carrierconfig-com.google.android.carrier-XXX.xml
where XXX is some number. Inside this file should be an entry
Code:
<boolean name="show_4g_for_lte_data_icon_bool" value="true" />
change its value to "false" and restart...
Thanks for answers.
I know that 4g is my LTE. I don't know why showing on my region 4g icon. After reset conection settings, it shows LTE for 1 sec and change.
I'm not rooted i was played with it on other phones but Pixel is great as it is.
Do you know how about with LTE+/advanced on this device?

My phone network is Orange, and therefore EE, in the UK. (for non-Brits Orange is owned by EE so I should connect to the EE network). As you can see at the bottom of the attached image my Nexus 5 is showing a weird status message for the network I'm connected to. It says
Code:
EE - @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
That's 16 @'s!
These are the places I've seen it written like that:
Lock screen
Bottom of the notification drawer (when mobile data is turned on)
On the tile in the quick setting in the notif drawer.
I'm not sure what it's meant to be saying instead of the @'s. Maybe connection type? If I go into Settings>>About Phone>>Status It correctly says EE for Network and HSPA (or whatever else) for Mobile Network Type.
I should note that it is a brand new microsim and I followed my network's instructions for changing sim. I can receive and send calls, texts and data as normal and my old sim has been deactivated. So as far as I can tell this is a purely cosmetic bug, but it's friggen annoying to look at! My previous phone (Nexus S) never had anything weird like this.
Any ideas? Is it the phone or the microsim card? I've tried restarting it with and without the sim in
So I have an LG G2 D800 on CloudyG3 2.1 ROM.
The LTE was not working properly so I altered the build.prop from ro.build.target_operator=OPEN to =ATT. This gave me 4G LTE, which I was pretty happy about. However, I couldn't enter the actual network settings without the "unfortunately, the com.android.phone has stopped working" error popping up.
Confused, I tried changing it back to =OPEN. I could enter the menu, but it was back to HSPA.
Desperate, I then tried changing it to =TLS, since my provider is currently Telus. This gave me 4G and allowed me to enter the network settings menu, but altered the symbol displayed on the top of the phone.
Attached are the two icons. First, the 4G icon under =ATT (minus the 'LTE' part, just the stylized '4G' with the waves) and the second, the 4G icon under =TLS.
My question is, are these two different? Is the =TLS one really HSPA+ in disguise?
I hope not, since =ATT is being a ***** with the settings.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Now you can also lock 2g, 3g, and 4g band but before that u want to root your devic ?
Explain the procedure plz !!
How ??
Edit build.prop: ro.build.target_operator = <here comes the name of the operator ATT >>>> by SCA
In addition also the icon on the status bar that is always on 4G, indicated correctly 2g, 3g or 4g.
Please elaborate the method.
ro.build.target_operator=OPEN
this will remove all atnt customization like atnt addressbook, 4g icon, default atnt contact, enable network switch , hotspot :good:

After changing ro.build.target_operator=OPEN and rebooting, got the network mode option, but Mobile Hotspot option changed to Wi-Fi Hotspot. And Wi-Fi hot spot is not getting turned on. Shows 'Turning On' for few seconds and goes back to previous state.
Mine is AT&T Unlocked phone. Making tether_entitlement_check_state=0 or 5 doesn't work either.
Got caught on Bootloop .. After Lg Logo LED is flashing and No At&nt logo or anything else
I Have a question,
When I am in a LTE Advanced region, The LTE Advanced (4g+) symbol doesn't show up on the google pixel 2.
On my Nokia 7 PLus the 4g+ symbol does show up.
How can i enable or unlock the 4g+ symbol on the google pixel 2
Can't recall of it being done on any of the Nexus/Pixel devices that I know of.
I believe the radio firmware on the Google devices is built so it doesn't expose the variable for the kernel to see, no idea why Google has decided for this. So possibly requiring the use of a custom built radio firmware together with a rom with some edits. I may be wrong.

There is a bool in SystemUIGoogle.apk bool.xml that configures Pixel to hide LTE Plus. Could be why.
Agree, I think it's hidden...
And how can i edit the bool.xml to enable the 4g+ icon
I've found this in the resources file:
Config_hideLtePlus.

It's on true. How do i set it to false?
You ever figure it out? I know on my 5x when using an aosp rom like octos or aosp extended o got 4g+. I was hoping it'd be the same on pixel but it isn't .:-/
Phone: Unlocked 4a. Network: Verizon
I have a macro that enabled me to switch between 4g LTE and 3g by toggling the value of the the system setting "preferred_network_mode" between 8 (LTE,CDMA,and EvDo and 4 (CDMA and EvDo). I also would toggle preferred_network_mode1 and 2 as well. Then, switching off and on airplane mode would enable the setting.
After the upgrade to android 12 (or possibly one of the monthly security updates) I can no longer force 3g. The preferred_network_mode value gets updated to 4, but the phone does not change from LTE, even after a restart.
Is there another setting that must be changed in 12 to enact that network change or did they kill that functionality altogether?
And before anyone asks - I know 3g is dying, but I live in AZ and many rural areas have no 4g but still get coverage fine with 3g. I'd like to keep using it until VZW turns it off completely.

Can't you just change that on SIM settings?
There's an option there to choose the preferred connection type. If you choose 3G there, it doesn't work as preferred?
I thought that was that option porpouse.
Cheers!
The SIM settings only allow Global, LTE/CDMA, or LTE/GSM/UMTS.
There is no CMDA/EvDo option.
Manually setting the preferred network mode to 4 should override those options and force CDMA mode, unless the system variable that determines network mode has changed with Android 12.
