Maybe if you flash the SAR (System as root fix) it might start functioning.
Or it might be different between roms.

Nope, no fix no extra work, just flashed A11.
Aha, maybe it's only working on official LOS 18.1.
LOL, last sentence is just for trolls.

Yeah kind of true all roms now have to use SAR.
He probably doesn't have system mounted

Well uh nevermind it doesn't work for me on Arrow Os and Nezuko Os , the "last sentence is just for trolls" you itself told that "maybe it's only working on official LOS 18.1" so who's the troll here huh.
Yes I did mount everything still no result...

Hello. I have experienced a bug while using previous versions of Orangefox Recovery, while restoring backups. During backup restoration, the backup freezes while restoring the System partition. Then I have to cancel the restore, and I have to dirty flash my ROM to make my phone work.
Have any of our developers and testers experienced this bug in This version of Orangefox?
Is there a solution to this problem?

Will see if the bug exists.

Nice recovery, thanks a lot!
Unfortunately, I found a bug when I try to restore the internal storage - this fails.
Looking into the backup file under Linux using 'cat *ext4.win??? | tar tvfi -' shows that it tries to restore to /storage, but I cannot mount the sdcard at that location.
As a workaround, I tried to link /sdcard to /storage, but the restore script deletes my symbolic link and the restore still fails.
Am I doing something wrong?
Please advise.

Hello
I found a small bug in the last beta (11.1_0):
When I try to flash a boot image with the one created by Magisk Manager and its default name, OrangeFox thinks the file is a zip file and can't proceed. So I had to rename the file to boot.img and it works as usual.

R11.1 Stable Release is Out!
Changelogs are on the Download Page!
Enjoy!

I don't know. You can always try ...
This recovery support miui OTA updates?
[Edit] yup, is supported.
Thanks for bringing this to Whyred, had it on my Mido, and i loved it.
Just in time for my bootloader getting unlocked, been using OrangeFox on vince since it was out. Thanks for this.
I also used this recovery on my mido and loved it. Thank you for bringing it to whyred too. May I ask, backing up internal storage will also backup system data or only the apps data? I'm asking because if it doesn't include system files, then it will be great for switching among roms because I will only take one flash to get all my apps and data again. But keeping previous rom's data will cause conflict.

All it backs up is the contents of your internal SD (eg, your photos, videos, files, etc) - the things that don't get backed up when you backup your data partition.
Where does the preferences for fox is saved? How to go back to the stock settings it came with? I've tried deleting fox files from internal, flashed twrp and reflashed fox, but the fox preferences & settings doesn't go back to default.
And can anybody confirm if restore is working? Or Does fox not able to restore twrp backups?
works fine for the arb anti 4?
thanks you sir for making it for our lovely whyred...
i think many people like if you make a flyme os port for our whyred..

Was wondering the same thing. Used this recovery on my vince, and even after a full fastboot flash of the latest miui (deleted everything, including recovery), after i install OrangeFox again, its settings are still there.
I don't know about TWRP backups in Fox.
How to install OTA updates using this recovery?I'm new to this and going to root my phone today.
Edit:
I read the provided link and understood. Now If i update through ota, then will i lose root and magisk?

1. The easy but "nuclear" option: go to the OrangeFox menu, and selected "Del OF Files"; you will need to reinstall the OrangeFox zip installer after this
2. The fiddly but non-nuclear option: delete /sdcard/Fox/.foxs, and /persist/.foxs

That's got nothing to do with the recovery.

Then after ota update,i should reboot to recovery again and flash magisk, right?
And recovery will be intact after ota or i have to reflash recovery?

Reporting problems
If you wish to report problems, be sure to do all of these:
1. Copy the logs immediately you see a problem
2. Explain fully and clearly the problem, and what you were doing when you encountered that problem
3. Attach the logs that show the problem. If you fail to do this, there would be no way for the developers to ascertain what exactly is going on, and therefore your report would be unhelpful.
4. Give full details about the OrangeFox version, your ROM, and your firmware version.

Incremental MIUI OTA:
Due to recent changes in stock MIUI, you must not disable DM-Verity when flashing a stock MIUI ROM that is based on either Android Pie, or Android 10 (the relevant option in OrangeFox is now unticked by default). If you disable DM-Verity, incremental MIUI OTA updates will definitely not work (the incremental OTA update will fail, and you will need to flash the MIUI ROM afresh, without disabling DM-Verity).
This recovery is beautiful, thanks so much!
Thx. I replaced my old recovery TWRP by this one and all I can say " GREAT WORKS" :good::good:

Backup data and system.
Dirty flash AICP rom update, reboot successed.
Then wipe data and system, restore data and system, waste 8% battery and still failure.
I remember I can change OS between root and unroot OS with redwolf recovery few years ago.
Is anyone restore recovery backup successed?

I could flash R11.1_1 through TWRP just fine but after the initial reboot to recovery (after the 5 seconds countdown), the screen stays blank and the orange splash screen keeps flashing every 5 seconds for a split second.

Indeed, my data partition is encrypted (I'm using MSM Xtended).
Attached install.log from /sdcard/Fox/logs, hope that helps.
Formatting the data is fine with this recovery? and it decrypts fbev2 roms or no?

I know but how am I supposed to get a logcat considering the phone isn't recognized by adb?
When the phone reboots after the 5 seconds countdown and the OrangeFox splash screen flashes briefly every 5 seconds, I cannot run adb logcat > logcat.
I doubt a logcat during the install process in TWRP would help either?
Is it compatible with A11 ROM?

I'll gonna fastboot it and get back to you. I run Derpfest R, and my Oneplus 7 Pro require the Nebrassy TWRP with FBE v2 decryption. So it shall be intresting to see if it works.
EDIT: It's no good. Does not work on an encrypted FBE v2 phone.

Do you get the OrangeFox splash screen for a fraction of second every 5 seconds?
I'm using MSM Xtended ROM, which also uses FBEv2 encryption.

@DarthJabba9 How's the Android 12 ROM's compatibility, can they be decrypted yet?

Nope. Android 12 encryption is quite problematic, and there is much work to do before recoveries can decrypt it properly. There is a hack that means that one or two devices can now be decrypted (only if there is no password/PIN) - but vayu is not one of them.
Isn't this the first official recovery for vayu? Wonder why there aren't more views and comments.

becoz it works so theres nothing to complain about
With this Recovery I have the same problem with official TWRP that I have no access to internal storage after flashing. So I'm not able to copy a .zip to it. Is there any solution?
Yes, you should have format data partitition, but read a lot before that action, all data will be lost and you need password or PIN if there was one....
Yeah, did that but I had no access anyways.

android 11 or 12?
Installed this on my Xiaomi POCO X3 Pro through the official TWRP and then through itself, after
Code:
data
was formatted.
The UI and UX in general is really amazing. Finally a recovery made for humans, which is easy to use and actually comfortable. It's actually NOT a chore to use this recovery!
Great job, thank you very much.

If you are using Android 12, you should switch to Android 11, if you want an easier experience with recoveries.
Additionally, you generally should use a microSD for such stuff, instead of Internal Storage, because the Internal Storage may be wiped, anytime. While the microSD (External Storage) only needs to be wiped, if you really want to.

the moment you format the data, you will lose the partition until you boot into a working system
if you want to continue install things, you could use adb sideload to do so
I also switched from TWRP to Orangefox and am quite happy so far. Installation on Poco X3 Pro was a breeze.
I installed LineageOS official as they are one of a few who have nightly builts / OTA.
However, I´m not sure if I have to set anything in Orangefox in order for the OTA´s to work. I´ve found the guide on the wiki page (How do I set up block-based incremental OTA for custom ROMs in OrangeFox Recovery?)
however I´m unsure if the LOS-ROM is such a "block-based" Rom I must admit that I don´t know what "block-based" incremental means , sorry
Thank you for any help

"Block-based" = "Delta" (ie, incremental updates that only patch the existing system in the areas that need to be updated, rather than full ROM updates). An example is the incremental MIUI OTA updates. Lineage OTA updates are usually full ROM updates.
Thanks @DarthJabba9 !
Edit: Got root working. Only encryption pw problem left. I did read wiki section

It is a unified build, so you should be able to.
amazing, I used many versions of twrp, all failed.
Hey uh, I just got the MIUI13 based on A12 update notification, but haven't downloaded it yet. If I update, will something happen? Or will OF just lose access to my storage until it can get the decryption sorted out?
