Hi, finally I got the upgrade for 11 on my device in Japan!
But I noticed that the aod feature is no longer changing brightness automatically depending on the illumination... I've tried everything but no results.
Is it normal after the upgrade? It's impossible to check hours while in the sunlight now.

I got my Moto G3 yesterday and I noticed the screen was very bright, I checked the brightness level and it was on the middle of the slider, with Adaptive Display on. I tried adjusting the slider but nthing happens, I tried turning Adaptive Display off, still nothing happens. Doesn't matter if I'm in a room with no light or if I'm outside on the sun, the screen is always on what I assume is 100% brightness.
I have also tried a factory reset, updated to Android 6, downloaded a 3rd party app to adjust brightness, getting it on safe mode... nothing works
It is really annoying having the display at full brightness always, battery drains, phone screen gets really hot, etc
Someone have a possible solution? I don't want to stay more days without a phone by taking it to warranty.
Even I noticed that the screen's brightness is same from 1% to 30% (approx).. It doesn't change at all.
What variant do you guys have?

Hey there!
I'm having this issue with my Galaxy S6 since I updated to Marshmallow.
Under direct sunlight it will rapidly jump to a higher brightness setting independently of having auto brightness on or off. I also can't manually reach the maximum brightness that the smartphone shows me when it's under direct sunlight (even with the brightness set to max). I can only control 75% of the max brightness. There's a thread on galaxys6 reddit that talks about this problem and has a link to a video (I can't post links yet).
I'm pretty convinced this is not a faulty device as this didn't happen with Android 5.1.1 and I've bought this only 3 weeks ago. I've already installed and changed my firmware to the latest France region (XEF) version and it's still doing the same.
Does anyone have this same issue? Is there a way to fix it ?
After upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S7 from Android 7 to 8.0 Always On Display is very dark. It's annoying especialy outside during sunny days, the clock is invisible then. Before upgrading it was automaticaly adjusting to the light, in dark room the clock was dark, in the very in illuminated surroundings was very bright. Now auto-brightness doesn't work. Any solution for this problem?
If not is there any chance to roll back to Android 7? I didn't find even one advntage in Android 8 and the problem with AOD is very BIG disadvantage for me.

I had this same problem. I just turned on the automatic brightness.
BTW in my case oreo just prefected my experience with android more smooth interface, longest battery life so far etc.
I have automatic brightness turned on but it doesn't work in AOD mode.
I think the AOD pictures are too dark for sure. i was trying to show someone my siamese cat one i bought outside in the sun and i couldn't see anything. not even the time.
I don't use any picture in AOD mode. I was always using it as a watch to check the time. Now I can't, in sunny days, because the clock is invisible
Hello,
I recently bought y9 prime. At the shop I checked the cameras but didn't notice brightness of screen, After reaching home an update automatically downloaded and I installed it. Later at night I noticed that screen brightness automatically reaches 100% when camera turns on.
I did experienced similar bug a few years back on redmi note 4 (beta ROM).
So I want to know if maximum brightness is default behavior or is it a bug.

Hey,
Recently I noticed that screen overlay that reduce brightness further then the rom settings stopped working(screen filter, night shift, etc..)
The lowest setting on the official rom isn't low enough and my eyes hurt at nights.
Any reasonable solution?
