Question Why does the forum look so weird? - OnePlus 9

Maybe not specific to this device but why is the device forum just a list of all threads instead of being categorised like the older forums (OnePlus 7T for example)

Interesting. That is a mess...
The Note 10+ forum isn't formatted like that.
An oversight?

Maybe cause OP9 is not PRO enough, even though guaranteed OP9 sales will destroy OP9 Pro sales.

especially for how cheap you can import the base model. (550€ from tradingshenzen) for some reason the china version doest have wireless charging but its only 15w anyways

Nah, that can't be it. Those people are amazing work horses!
It looks like this is a brand new prefix-infused section. The idea is to click one of the tags to find related posts to it, very much like the earlier subsections. This does have the advantage of quickly being able to switch between topics quickly (instead of having to leave one subsection and navigating to another). Simply choose your poison:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Or remove the tag filter to view all of them again:
So it's indeed a mess but it's an organized one. Very similar to my desk, actually. Oh and when a post has been given the wrong prefix, we can simply apply the correct one instead of having to move posts around. Change is never easy but I think this more dynamic approach deserves a chance. Feedback is most welcome! Though you will likely generate more traction in this thread.
And of course, we remain available to provide assistance

All new device forums are going to the flattened format.
even some older Device forums have been flattened into one section.
As @Timmmmaaahh! said "Change is never easy "
This is the way.

If you go to Manufactures
and click on OnePlus or any other
Spoiler: Any forum with a heart is in the new Format

Technical this change predates the 2.2 update. (Mar 11, 2021)
The first new forum with a thread prefix I can find is from Jan 8, 2021

A few things I found...

Decided to take a crack (lol pun intended ) at a couple of things the other night, and stumbled across something interesting - HTC's internal bidding system.
And what I've found are parts that they are buying for whatever models of phones they're working on/thinking about working on. I saw parts for an HTC Touch Pro from 2005, parts from the HTC Magic from 2006, etc.. Well, I found parts, as of the other day, for the 'HTC Incredible', so, they must be working on it.
Also, I found reference to xda-developers.com inside of an actual bidding-slip for reference to the models that they had listed - I thought that was pretty damn cool.
I've highlighted different model names and such, and the reasoning I pointed out the Bahamas and the Memphis are so you can see that the models are not always only listed on the right-side of the screen, too.
Here are some screenshots for you all:

Wow, nice one! This could be really useful for us here at XDA.

Just wanted to bring this thread back up, because now the HTC Incredible is official, and is being released on Verizon.
I wonder what phones I could find info. on if I were to look now?
Just found some more models to wonder about.

Doubt about bootloader

Hello,
I'm interested in the Sensation, but i've readed the problem about the bootloader. My question is: do you think we will have an unlocked one? (official or not)
The custom recovery has saved me a lot of times
And how much time do you expect? (1 month, 1 year,2,never?) [i know it's a difficult question]
Did you even read the headlines of the other topics in here???

We could answer but unless we have an insider at HTC leaking info or are a developer it would all be purely speculation. You'd have a better chance at guessing how many grains of salt are in a shaker accurately than guessing when they will have it done.

Yes, but there are one saying that they have said that they will unlick it. Another saying the first one is a fake and another one with intructions about flashing one ROM using clockmodwork, but clockmodwirk uses a custom boot (i think). So i really didn't understand it.
It's more easy when you have been following the news for a while than just arrive
Sorry for the inconvenients
HTC have not made any statements on which current devices, if any, will get their bootloaders unlocked, so we don't know.

Android 10 update kills Daydream compatibility

Just like that, without any notice or warning, Daydream no longer works on my S9+.
The same applies to S9 and Note 9, which used to be perfectly compatible with Daydream, but now all you get is this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note that the scene behind this dialog window is actually perfectly rendered, and the phone itself is using the "low motion-blur" screen mode.
The problem is, in Android 8 and Android 9, these phones have defined a system flag "android.hardware.vr.high_performance", which is no longer defined on Android 10.
This is a Samsung-specific problem, as Pixel phones running Android 10 can still use Daydream perfectly (as reported in this Reddit thread).
Another ****ing moronic screw up of Samsung devs... did you post on their forum and report this via Samsung members ?
I did report via Samsung Members, and their first response was: "We don't actually develop the Daydream app. We'd recommend contacting the developers of the app, so that they can begin implementing a fix.". Disappointing to say the least.
I've followed up with some technical details (mentioned the same system flag), let's see if that helps.
I'm not sure which forum should I post this at, can you give me a link, please?
OK, so their second response was as dumb as the first one...

Anyway, started a thread on their forum as well.

Isnt daydream a google developed service? Maybe they didnt update their app for the update pushed to our devices?

The app version doesn't matter: if it detects that the device doesn't specify the particular hardware flag I've mentioned, it won't run.
Samsung has removed this flag in Android 10 for some reason. All they need to do is to add
Code:
<feature name="android.software.vr.mode" />
<feature name="android.hardware.vr.high_performance" />
to /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml, and it will work again. Google can't do it for them...
Typical Samsung... The support doesn't even ****ing read the messages !
I will reply to your thread on the forum.
Maybe if you send another message on Members just mentioning that they missed the flags (I mean keeping it short), maybe the support will actually pass it on to dev team ?
Maybe also don't mention daydream so it won't confuse the support with another app and a third party developer ?
This working yet?

Xiaomi note 10 pro - cc9 pro - Mi 10 edge screen problem

Samsung does not have this problem. xiaomi and huawei completely reduced edge sensitivity. It does not rise. There is software blocking.
What's up with you and screen, this is like third thread you made with same sh...t. who cares? It's good phone, if somebody don't like it, sell it and buy another one.

Here, fw and patch shares are made. There are developers here. There are suggestions and requests. People who receive other phones every day are not here. They are using Amazon .com only.
If you don't like it, go. The camera of this phone is very nice. that's why I bought it. But this screen is tiring. I am having problems with all the graphics programs I use. If it is an uncorrected problem, I will sell it.

My point is that you already wrote about this, and it's 3 thread about this, and you spam another thread also, and it's look like you are the only one who has that problem. So maybe try to send back your phone if you have warranty?!
There's a lot smart people here but is free will community work, and if this is not common problem no one will sitt and tray to fix your problem, that is probably hardware issue. If you have a knowledge a time and resources to fix this problem, then do it and share it if you want to share. Don't spam the forum.

this is a different video. a different content.
You're wrong when they say other things.
There are articles on reddit and many sites that have this problem.
People who draw, those who use apk using the edges are uncomfortable.
My habit of using screens doesn't concern anyone.
Joyful ; Maybe you just watch movies and just take photos.
I do not know.
There is no hardware problem on the screen.
Understand this, please.
This is a fw problem.

Country of origin - OnePlus Terms on first boot

HI all,
I am planning on buying a new phone soon - either OnePlus 8 Pro/8TPro or Samsung S20/Note 20 (when the latter are released)
Could any OP8 holders please confirm if this was indeed accurate?
If it's accurate, is there a way to avoid this?
Or we stuck on the stock firmware with the 'potential' data being sent off to home?

Hi,
This is a sensitive topic since it can become a little to political, but to keep it simple, OnePlus has never been caught doing something sketchy like that, not like Xiaomi or Huawei and other Chinese brands. But there's always this little doubt because Chinese GOV (not people, please make the difference) isn't transparent at all with its policy and relationship with phone manufacturers. So if this is really an issue because you work in a sensitive place in your country (research, administration, ...) then go for Samsung, because "we never know what could happen". But if you don't have anything sensitive to hide, trust me, Chinese secret services won't give a damn about your data lol.
We're not stuck at all on stock firmware, there are a lot of ROMs that are really good, and can be used instead of stock. I don't know if flashing a ROM deletes the issue tho, because what's a problem with spying is that you don't know where the leak come from, and if OnePlus where indeed spying us, they would've a solution that works even with ROMs since OnePlus let us easily and freely flash anything on our phones.
I'll end by saying that it's really a shame, because OnePlus phones are really good, and those trust issues can sometimes completely ruin the experience...
Also, your question is 100% legit, 20 years ago I'd say your paranoid, but now, with all the political background, you do better asking.
We're living difficult time for privacy since internet is so anchored in our lives...
If anyone want to post in this thread, please stick to the rules by not going full political. Just answer the question asked and put the least amount of political views in the answer. I tried to be as neutral as possible, do so please
