What are some recommended apps for viewing video from a USB external camera like a webcam, endoscope, or borescope?
Preferably available on F-Droid, or open source in the Play Store, or at least ranking well for privacy and permissions on Exodus Privacy.
I know there are many endoscope apps in the Play Store, but many seem sketchy and I don't feel like installing them all to find out.
Also open to using a general video program like VLC if it can connect to external cameras connected to the phone by USB OTG.
In case it matters, the intended phone is an LG G4 running /e/ OS.

Well after much trial and error I finally managed to root this device. The main problem I had was not being able to get adb over usb. Probably a driver problem or usb ports themselves. I did manage to get wifi connection to the box using a program called Moborobo but still no adb.
I tried using GingerBreak-v1.00.apk without any luck then tried GingerBreak-v1.10.apk which thankfully worked, many thanks to dev for that.
Edit:
More info. Usb is not available over cable but it is available through adb over wifi (after rooting)

Hello
I've seen a few threads on Smart TV boxes/sticks.
I'm looking for something (preferably a box, sticks are flimsy) that can also record TV
Specs guidelines:
Can Handle 1080p HD (obviously, needs HDMI output too!)
Can record TV (Freeview HD, Great Britain)
Has at least a 120 GB HDD to store stuff (or at least USB to allow extra HDD)
Is fast enough to not freeze under normal usage
has access to Google Play Store (or something similar that: available in UK, has good priced films and good selection of films)
Android is preferred, not 100% necessary, (If it's android, must be 4.0+, or has custom recovery somewhere to install android 4.X roms)
Is easy to use (IE anyone can pick it up and use it)
I think that's about it
Preferably less than £200/$300, although less than £300/$450 is ok if it's worth it
Hello everyone, I have recently purchased a MK809IV Android 4.4.2 HDMI Stick via ebay. It works perfectly for streaming 720P Netflix, youtube and web browsing; EXCEPT for voice input (via Bluetooth headset with Microphone). I was hoping to minimize my dependence on a keyboard by using Google Voice whenever possible. However; this particular device is not detecting any audio input device. As a result, google voice is not launching/running; it just closes a few seconds after I run it. This is a real shame as I was hoping to browse the web or check my e-mail using google voice while gaming on my PC...
I have attached images to provide more information regarding this particular Android Stick and my issue. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I apologize in advance for posting links in this thread; however, I feel that it's more inappropriate to make 10 random posts that won't contribute or help anyone to meet the requirements for said links. I just want to provide as much information as possible to the community regarding this issue. I feel that these Android HDMI sticks has exceptional potential for their small price tag.

Update Edit: After further testing; I found out that my Kinovo Bluetooth headset (with mic) requires a driver that automatically downloads on my phone, my friend's phone and also my cheapo android tablet. However, the driver is not detected/downloading on this HDMI Stick. I have since found a Plug and Play USB Audio adapter that works with my HDMI stick. HOWEVER; even though the audio INPUT device IS detected and I was able to make audio recordings, Google Voice is still not working; every time I run/launch the app, it closes almost INSTANTLY.

Update 2.0 : Ok, I've got this ironed out and it's all working perfectly now! I came across the link below on Google's website
support.google.com/websearch/answer/6031948?hl=en
Which states the following requirements:
Google app version 3.5+
Android 4.4+ (KitKat)
Voice & Audio Activity setting turned on
Since I met the 2nd and 3rd requirement, I tried updating Google App via the play store; google voice is now working and running without a hitch! This device is now perfect for my intended applications!
My current setup is as follows if anyone is interested!
Currently running a triple monitor setup with the third monitor on the right connected to the Android Stick and my PC. (from left to right: 22" Portrait Mode, 24" BenQ 144Hz Landscape and 24" Landscape). When I'm gaming, I switch from my DVI (PC) output to HDMI (Android Stick); this allows me to check my e-mail, google for information, play music, watch youtube guides, etc). Also, the USB Plug n play audio adapter I linked earlier; has a mute switch for the Mic. This maximizes the usability for my devices.
I can provide photos of my setup upon request. Thanks for reading!

I am integrating an embedded system (atom board) with a Wifi Camera for a DIY security project. The camera is connected to the wifi router and I can verify its IP from within the android app. Camera functions well with an android phone through an android app. Now what I want to do is to be able to receive the video feed on the atom board.
I have tried many OS (Linux Distros, Android-x86). Áll android-x86 versions (version 4-9) hang at the "Android logo". This is most probably due to the onboard graphics card (i.e. Intel SCH controller US15W/US15X). Only Android 4.0 image works however, when I run the App it crashes right when I try to access the camera within the App. Youtube videos don't play smoothly either, they severely lag/stutter to the point of becoming almost frozen. It shows that the driver even in android 4.0 isn't working well.
So, I would like either to have a working version of android-x86 on the system or someway to hack the camera stream by hacking the android app. If I could get the url that the camera App uses to access the camera and the ports at which it connects, I might be able to access the camera from an application in a linux distro.
Hi, I've been trying to find a way to do this on a physical device for some time now. I'm wondering if it's possible to connect a webcam to my phone via USB-C, and use it in apps such as TikTok or Snapchat? I know there's apps out there specifically to view external cameras, but I couldn't find any to use them in other apps. Root is ok.
