A few questions before buying a F2 Pro - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

I'm in thoughts of buying Poco F2 Pro, but have a few questions.
1) Does NFC work Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms?
2) Does Gcam work well(4K 60fps) Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms? And does the Gcam add stabilization on 4K 60fps recording?
3) Does the fingerprint sensor work well with Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms?
4) Are there any port of the Miui stock camera app for Cutom roms?
5) Are there any screen protection Glass that work with the fingerprint sensor?
6) Are there any other camera app than the stock Miui that is able to record in 8K 30fps?
7) Are there any know functions in the phone that doesn't work well with custom roms?

AOSP rom.
1) Does NFC work Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms?
NFC works on most roms.Look at the posts of roms you are interested in.
2) Does Gcam work well(4K 60fps) Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms? And does the Gcam add stabilization on 4K 60fps recording?
For the moment no GCAM works with all the options of the original camera.
3) Does the fingerprint sensor work well with Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms?
FOD works great on some roms with more options than stock roms.
4) Are there any port of the Miui stock camera app for Cutom roms?
Descendant XI has miui camera but not yet 100% operational.
5) Are there any screen protection Glass that work with the fingerprint sensor?
Surely on condition that you choose the right model.
6) Are there any other camera app than the stock Miui that is able to record in 8K 30fps?
***2)
7) Are there any know functions in the phone that doesn't work well with custom roms?
the choice of network is problematic on most of these roms, obliged to choose automatic network.
play store not certified(not all roms)root mandatory.

Currently the AOSP roms are under development, at least 2 years(+or-) to have a 100% functional roms.(Depends on xiaomi).
If you want a rom better than stock you should see to the EU rom.

1) Have read some, but haven't clued out which rom that is most stable and that works with most of my seven points in the list.
2) As long as it fix image stabilization on 4K 60fps, otherwise I can use the stock camera if it gets a full wokring port.
3) Great!
4) Any link to that one?
7) Does Magisk fix that?

4)https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-official-descendant-xi-13-01-21-a11.4211179/
7)Yep.

As for portrait you should use google camera, which is way better in my opinion both in edge recognizing and quality (and it works for both front and back camera).
For B&W you can use Snapdragon camera (included in most roms), but i noticed it has some bugs with focusing, or FreeDCam, which should cycle and show B&W using the second camera (but it depends on the rom you're using).
As for MIUI camera you can get it to work on custom roms through some ports, but you'll get basic functionality and for sure no support for second camera. They're also old miui 9 versions, so they won't have portrait.
If you still want to try here are some versions to flash (remember to give all the permissions prior opening the app, otherwise it will say that it can't connect).
I still recommend to avoid using miui camera on this device, it is really bad with picture compression. Just use GCam for almost everything and you'll get awesome results, i even compared with my friends' mi 8 and the results are impressive.

Assuming you are on oreo-based rom (i'm on syberia and this doesn't work), just open FreeDCam and try to switch camera. It should show front camera, and changing again camera should show up the B/W sensor. I can't say it works for sure, i used to do it on an old unofficial rom (AICP based off old los15 sources), and it may still work but i didn't do further testing.
I asked to syberias' dev if he could look into that, hopefully we'll have working B/W sensor for third party cameras other than buggy Snap
UPDATE: Got it working guys, made a new thread so that it will be pinned for others too

oos camera on custom roms?

hi there, i wonder if there's a way to get oos camera on custom roms .. some say you can download its apk and it works but it doesnt actually .. the quality is awful like 20% quality of what it should be..! gcam is fine but in some cases messes colors and skin tones and its nice to have stock alongside
RR 8.0 for 7t has it preinstalled (v 3.10.something). Works, but there is a bug that it crashes if you switch to portrait mode.

Question Samsung Galaxy A52 - Lineage OS, GSI

GSIs provides bloatware removal.
However it doesn't have my camera features.
Camera of GSI's are really terrible.
If I backup first my Camera, bluetooth, etc... of my A52, can I install it on GSI of my choice? Will it work still?
Hello,
Using Samsung Camera on GSI has so far been fails. However, you can try some modded Google Camera (find a list at https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ ), some should work, and provide better camera quality than AOSP's camera app.

Question Stock Camera?

Hi guys.
I recently unlocked the bootloader and installed Lineage OS 18.1 on my phone.
I tried the camera that comes with it, but video won't work. It crashes all the time.
I also tried a bunch of different versions of GCam, but with no success on the video part. Some record video but zero to no stabilization or stuff like that.
Do we have a stock camera app somewhere? I liked a lot that camera app.
Thanks!

The gcam need some config files to work.
They can be found in the telegram group

Official Group: @pocox3proglobalofficial - Read rules (/rules),Use English Only - Only Share Pics Clicked With POCO X3 Pro - Mention The Camera App & Config Used - Photos Must Have Captions - No Promotion Allowed - Slight OT Allowed

The Question still remains. Is it possible to run Stock Camera on Custom ROMs or does it need lots of Framework modifications.
In case anyone wants to try... here is the apk extracted from EEU 12.5.3 ROM.
com.android.camera:
com.android.camera.apk
drive.google.com
com.android.camera.overlay (whatever that is....)
com.android.camera.overlay.apk
drive.google.com
No, no possible. There is working port of stock camera called anx camera which require magisk to install. Cannot confirm if it is working on poco because dont have magisk. Just try. There is no other way to get stock camera.
Use gcam with config or google camera go 2.5 with night sight working and hdr by greatness.
crDroid 7.12 has an integrated Cam 204.NeoX (if I understand correctly an ANX-Cam-Mod, GUI style is similar to Stock) and this IMO is a highlight of this ROM.: Video EIS works very well (better then BSG/MGC GCam with XML Ronit etc., seems smooth as in stock MIUI Cam)
See here for other info on this ROM

changed OS (Lineage) and lost my UW and macro camera

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 pro. I changed OS from MIUI to PixelExperience, but it was too buggy (although the cameras all worked), so I changed to LineageOS. Now, even if I install gcam (using gcamator) I can't get access to the ultrawide camera or the macro camera any more. I don't have ultrawide lens option in the app (even in OpenCamera). Have I missed something? Is there a custom app that will find my cameras? Is there a better forum to ask this question?
TIA!

Camera is always an issue with Custom ROMs because stock camera is proprietary property, the developers that create custom ROMs can not use and do not have access to canera source to include in the ROM. Virtually all LOS ROMs have camera that doesn't work when the ROM is first released, sometimes the camera is fixed sometime after the ROM is released but often it never gets fixed. The only working solutions other than fixing it during the ROM building process is to try various camera apps from Playstore but it won't have your stock camera's features. If you want to use your stock camera's features, you need to go back to using your stock ROM.
