[infinix hot 10 x682c] How can I install twrp if I'm not rooted? - General Questions and Answers

I was following this guide to get twrp, but it says I need root explorer. I can't get that since I'm not rooted. I tried magisk but both the patched boot and recovery images makes my device bootloop. It's an infinix hot 10 x682c. I need twrp to install magisk. So what do I do? And if I can't install twrp, what other rooting methods are there that I can use?

you don't need twrp to install magisk ...

As I said in the post, patching the boot or recovery images makes my device boot loop

You don’t need to root your device to install TWRP, but you will need to unlock device's bootloader, which will erase all the content on your device.

I’ve already unlocked it, that’s not the point here. Since there aren’t any official builds for my device, I need to build one myself. The problem is there are certain info that I need but can only be obtained by rooting (which I can’t do). Hope this makes sense

Hint: Add infinix hot 10 x682c to this thread's title thus mainly fellow members who own this device get addressed.

Assuming your bootloader is unlocked, once your phone is in recovery mode use the volume buttons to scroll to 'Fastboot' or 'Download Mode', then press the power button to select it. Replace 'twrp-version' with the exact file name of the . img file you downloaded. Hit Enter to install TWRP to your phone.

That guide causes bootloop on F2FS.This method also works on f2fs file system.
I have a problem with this guide though. When I install Magisk through TWRP, when it flashes boot, it gets stuck, screen goes black for a while, then the phone vibrates and shows blue notification LED.... Really don't know what that's about

Try Kingroot.
Do we need to unlock the bootloader and wait for 14 days to apply this root method ?
Please add it to this guide if so.
Thanks.

Sorry for reply on a months-old thread but, has anyone firgured out how to root and install custom roms without unlocking Bootloader? I got a Chinese unit and not having a Chinese number is huge roadblock for me. :/
Is it necessary to flash both supersu and magisk for rooting device?? Will the device get rooted if i flash only Supersu?
There is not a lot of Updates released by Lenovo for this model, so if it breaks the OTA, just download from here

Will this method work with the S244 Nougat build?
I have a P2c72 model hardware which I bought from China, but it came loaded with P2a42 firmware which updated itself to Nougat S244 via OTA updates. I'm not sure how to root it and I'm currently in the 14 waiting period to unlock the bootloader!

Does anyone out there have a Gome U7 and knows how to root it?

I bought this phone in aliexpress and i'm pretty satisfied so far. Except by the fact that it's a totally obscure phone. You can't even find cases for it.
Anyway, the real problem is the lack of root methods. I tried all the root apks out there without success, and there is no known way to unlock the boot loader.
So, as a last effort, i'm trying to find someone that maybe managed to root this phone and could share the knowlege with us. Or at least find some other Gome U7 owners to share this frustation.
Thank you!

From the Aliexpress listing I found, this is MTK6757CD Android 7.1 Nougat. It shouldn't be so difficult to root.
Have you been able to backup / dump the firmware?
Yes, thats the model!.
About the backup, i don't tried it yet, but i supose i can via ADB comands.
The problem is that none of the root apks work, and i can't try to install a root script via the default recovery.
Holy fuc...king cow! I did it!
The dificulty of finding the files for this phone made this task much dificult than it shoul be, but anyway, for the possible people that come accros this thread, that's how i did it:
download the mtk drivers here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jbxsq68g8dd4gk6/MTK_USB_All_v1.0.8.zip
download the stock rom here: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/8hMx/N7fqf8X62
Put the stock rom's boot.img on your phone;
Install the magisk apk, click install, and then use the patch boot.img function;
Select the boot.img from the stock rom;
After the patch, replace the patched version with the original version on the rom folder on your PC;
Use the SP flash tool to flash it.
And that's it!
I can't believe it took me four days to figure this out hahaha
Anyway, i hope it helps someone. Have a great day.
Edit: unfortunately the bootloader is still locked, so i can't flash magisk modules. Is there a way to use root privelege to unlock it?

I know it's a chinese phone but it originally had western stock ROM when arrived - As in playstore was available on it. Chinese version is very stubborn in trying to install western apps - Playstore for one does not open when you install via alt options.

I didn't really flash it, i just used the bootloader file on it for the root process. My device came with the stock android rom, with gapps pre-installed.
But as far as i know, you can have play store on any android. Just make sure you install google play services alongside.

I didn't try it because it seens fake to me. Also, the bootloader on this phone is locked, so fastboot comands didn't work when i tried. The only way i could flash anything was with SPtool.
But there's a group out there called twrp builder that compiles the twrp recovery to a lot of devices. I'm trying to put the gome u7 on their queue, but right now, they are busy with a lot of builds.

As you said the bootloader can not unlock why it need TWRP for?
The phone bootloader can lock and unlock as will.
Phone in fastboot mode: ADB command "fastboot oem unlock" then Push Vol+ on the phone to confirm unlock.
But I got the boot loop to TWRP every reboot after following steps to root the phone.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (twrp down load at https://unofficialtwrp.com/gome-u7-twrp-3-2-root/)
Boot to recovery ( this Twrp won't save the language which selected)
Format Data
Reboot to recovery again.
Install magisk
install No verity opt encrypt.zip.
wipe Caches/Davik...
reboot to system but it boot loop to recovery (twrp).
I have to reinstall original recovery.img and lock bootloader in order for my phone to boot normal again. After the phone boot up , install magisk.apk manager to get root.
Try to flash patched boot & twrp recovery image inside rar file with SP flash tool v5.1844.00.00 use their scatter file.
Wow, my device just could'nt comunicate with the adb via fastboot. I selcted the OEM unlock on the phone and inatalled the mtk drivers.
What i did wrong?
Also, you said that you had to install the stock recovery to the phone boot again, so you dont have twrp on the phone?

Beginner's Friendly Guide For Flashing Custom Rom On Realme 1

First of all i want to thank every developer who made it possible for us to experience such cool things on which they spend their sleepless nights , endless hours for which "thank you " is just not enough. I want to aware beginners that what they enjoy in their hand, the smooth satisfying hassle-free seamless experience on phones is result of rigorous hours of hardworking consisting several phases of development (coding , porting , patching etc ).
Always Respect Developers
I am Tech enthusiast. Following this community since last year. Reading and learning about software development.
Here in this post i have contributed nothing. i am just sharing their work with their credits and also making it easier for you guys to follow the instructions and and procedure for entering into the new horizons of customization.
Realme is working really hard to push its development community to compete with MI. If this post will help it to grow it stronger even in 0.1% i will be happy
Note: upgrade device to latest firmware.
Step:1 Unlocking Bootloader
Here you can find full procedure of unlocking written by @Sun Lee
https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1101401810746212352
Step:2 Installing Twrp
https://sourceforge.net/projects/realme1/files/twrp-9.0/
use adb commands for booting into recovery(this version requires adb commands otherwise manually entering through hard keys is always recommeded.)
Flashing instruction for are:
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/
step:3 Installing custom rom
Read and follow procedure carefully as given in OP
https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-1/development/rom-lineageos-17-1-t4107019 OP By @Invincible-Venom and his whole team
optional : Rooting
you can download magisk manager . it is most widely used and trusted su manager with tons of modding modules.
but always look up to exceptions and NOTE from rom maintainers. In case of latest lineage 17.1 you can only use magisk 20.1 , magisk 20.3
this guide is for very novice kids who are new in this world . i would recommend you to know basic things before doing any stuff written above.
Step:2 Installing Twrp
https://sourceforge.net/projects/realme1/files/twrp-9.0/
i will recommend you download this version of twrp as you will need this for only stable custom rom made by @Invincible-Venom (again thank-you sir)

Correct this, booting to recovery via hard keys isn't possible in the latest Frimware ( ColourOS 6 ). update it correctly. Hard keys are only possible in ColourOS 5.0/2

[Q] Help with rooting Infinix Hot 11s

Heya!
I was wondering if there are any existing tools or information about rooting Infinix Hot 11s? I've tried searching for anything related to it and I've seen a couple of threads with information about rooting old Infinix phones here, but to my understanding there isn't one related to this particular model.
It's powered by a Helio G88 processor and the operating system is a modified Android build called XOS. Full phone specs are here for anyone curious.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Rooting Android means installing a ~100KB piece of software ( SU-binary ) on it.
So either push a matching SU-binary onto Android filesystem or replace the pre-installed ( restricted ) version of Toybox with a matching unrestricted one, wil say with one that has SU-cmdlet incorporated.
.

Hi, thanks for the response!
I understand, but how would I go about doing that with this particular phone? Because to my understanding, I need TWRP, I haven't found a TWRP version for my phone and I fear using a TWRP build from other phones or older Infinix phone models might brick it. If ever I have to port TWRP, is there some sort of guide for me to follow so I can try making a build of TWRP that works with this?
Thanks!
To add a suitable SU-binary to Android's filesystem TWRP in NO case is needed: you do it via ADB.
Example:
Code:
adb devices
adb push <LOCATION_OF_SUITABLE_SU_BINARY_ON_PC> /data/local/tmp/
adb shell "chmod +x /data/local/tmp/su"
I recently bought this phone and is looking for a way to root it safely as i want to remove bloatware and use some apps that need root (like screenrecording without microphone and just internal audio, i heard that needs the magisk module?)
is there a way to root it preferably without a pc and i dont want to wipe my data unless really necessary, i have also unlocked the oem bootloader from dev options as this phone uses a custom version of android 10 (xos dolphin 7.0), processor is mediatek helios something as far as i know, just for reference

the 2 lines of code shown above by me always worked for me, at any Android version - at least up to Android 10, and should work on Android 11, too
also do any of you have links to the stock rom for infinix hot 11s nfc? I bricked my phone trying to install the wrong twrp for this phone. Thanks.
So, any luck in rooting Hot 11s? This xos skin is driving me nuts. Always closing background processes, and sometimes even foreground process. We desperately need a twrp for this device.
Here is how to do it
Download your phone's latest firmware (the one you are running ) extract the boot.img from it and put it in your internal storage and install magisk from github
Press install in it and it would prompt you flashing a boot.img do that
Then copy the patched img to your pc
Then in platform-tools (search for it on google) click on the address bar then type cmd
From there type in (adb reboot bootloader) make sure your usb debugging is on
Then when it reboots to fastboot
Type (fastboot flash boot *your patched boot.img*)
That's exactly how i rooted my phone and i have an infinix hot 10s

And this method is universal

Hey! If you successfully do that method, do you know how to fix the problem "<waiting for any devices>" in fastboot? Is it because of the driver for my device or other cases? Thank you in advance.

It's fine now, everything is work for the fastboot and I just need to find the right driver for my device. But still...do I need to unlock the bootloader first to be able flashing or do some commands? And since it's hard to find the firmware for my device, how to get the boot.img out of my phone? Knowing that Infinix Hot 11s NFC is a brand new phone and as far as I know it's regional based for Indonesia's market only. CMIIW.

Question Need a Guide to Root (Nord CE 2 Lite 5g)

I recently bought myself a new phone ( the same above and now I'm stuck trying to root it )
I've attached the details of my device in the image below
I successfully managed to unlock the bootloader yesterday and now I have no idea on where to find the stock rom.
Any help appreciated
Thanks

I have the exact same phone as you.
I used this post to root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rooting-oneplus-nord-2-ce-lite.4500297/
Didn't run into any problems
I have bricked this device (One Plus Nord CE 2 Lite) by flashing the unofficial twrp image for this device. Device bootloops in TWRP.
Previously, I had succesfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted this device by flashing the patched magisk boot.img by following the method mentioned in this post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rooting-oneplus-nord-2-ce-lite.4500297/)
How to restore the factory image and recover from this?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
....double post ...already answered
...bricking impossible

Sir, If you have patched magisk boot.img and blank vbmeta.img files on your pc used previously for rooting this device, this will save you your precious time.
Flash the files to their appropriate partitions, the device will overwrite the partitions and boot back with root access.
If you have updated the device after root and flashed magisk to inactive slot for saving root access after OTA the above method won't work.
Installed official version.
But i need twrp for this device.
Any one installed??
Sir, TWRP image available for this device is experimental, unstable and buggy.
There is a problem that occurs when you flash twrp if you are rooted.
After flashing the device bootloops into TWRP and won't boot into system OS even if it's forced to reboot.
Even without root if flashed, twrp cant flash or wipe any data.
On the screen the errors are shown in red.[failed to mount ' / ' ](Invalid Argument)
Let's wait until a stable image is available for this device in the near future.
Thank you .
I want pixel experience on nord ce 2 lte
If any one installed . Please guide me
...pixel experience doesn't work on Nord 2 CE devices ...none of the functions are compatible with this device ...I tried more than one configurations by myself ...the few things you can get working, like Contacts App or Messages App, you can manually download and install from APKmirror or other sources ...no need to "module" these little things
...I would like to change the boot animation, for example ...but to be honest, how often and how long do you see the boot up screen???
i again damaged the os.
This time every thing not working.
it boot loops to fastboot.
Any help ?? @DerDoktore
Is there any msmtool for nord ce 2 lte
...Bootloop to fastboot???? ...that is new to me ...I know the "system damaged" Screen and a traditional Bootloop ...does it "break" the loop at fastboot??? ...or do you see half a second the fastboot screen and restart and again???

Thanks bro, finally got my device back.
Installed Oxygen os 13 beta.
Could just follow the guide/s for the Nord N20 5G since it's basically the exact same device with a different touch panel...
