So I have a Samsung Galaxy s10+ and for the past few months I've been trying to record the screen using an Elgato HD60S+ but I'm encountering many issues.
So when I plug in a 4k60hz USB C to HDMI cable to my Elgato I get a signal and it seems to work fine but the signal keeps disconnecting. It's very intermittent as 1 time I managed to record for 9min without any issues but other times it keeps disconnecting every few seconds or 30 seconds.
So I bought a USB C to HDMI Adapter thinking that could be the issue but it comes up with this

Doing more research I find out it might be a HDCP issue. So I bought a HDMI Splitter to get rid of the HDCP.
Now when I plug in the 4k60hz USB C to HDMI cable, it says connected to external monitor on my phone but I don't get an output.
However, when I use the adapter, it outputs to what seems to be 60hz on the monitor but the phone slows down to what seems to be 20fps.
Does anyone have any fix for this as I've spent quite a bit of money already and can't seem to find a solution anywhere. Thanks!

That may not be supported but it has nothing to do with my phone as my phone is supposed to run at 60hz 2280x1080. So whatever that says doesn't make sense. Not to mention that when I use the HDMI Splitter the Adapter works but it slows my phone down.

What hardware/cables are needed and can you provide an internet link for vendor/price?
I have a Infiniti G35 sedan and my DVD screen will take video/audio input from the three female ports in the armrest which are Yellow-White-Red.
I would like to display the Photon Q screen on my Infiniti G's DVD screen and hear the Photon Q audio through my Infiniti's G speakers.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.
FYI, the audio would be really easy. You can just use the 3.5mm headphone jack with 2 RCA plugs on the other end, and audio is done.
Video... Not sure how that would work. Either way, that's 'composite' - so it'll look pretty awful.
You can get audio via the jack on top, and forget about Video, unless you use a really-expensive converter, as the HDMI video that comes out will be 540P YUV, whereas that composite input in your car is 480I Y/C.

I don't need Hi-Def video. I just want the Photon's Navigation displayed on my car's dash display.
How much is a converter and where can I get one?
Will a cable like this one below even display the video on my dash? How will it look?

You don't have component in (which that cable is). You have composite input to the stereo, you'll probably need some sort of converter while hoping that the phone doesn't require HDCP (I doubt it). Let us know!
Edit: Something like this might be exactly what you would need.

I'm sure a lot of you guys are like me and probably have a charger and a usb hub on your desk/table/workstation. Everytime I used to look at my usb hub, I used to get so frustrated that it only had 0.5 amps for charging and that simply didn't cut it with most phones/tablets. Now comes this handy little savior of a device and it combines a usb 3.0 hub and a 2 port charger.
There are 7 usb data ports each numbered and 2 charging ports (a 1 amp port and a 2.1 amp port). So it can charge most devices under the sun.
Build Quality
It's made out of plastic, lightweight but not flimsy. Does not bend or creek that I've noticed when trying to flex it. Seems like a good well built usb hub.
The number on each data port lights up when being used. While the Charging port has no light notification that its being used.
It is to note that t does slip around a bit. This is because the bottom doesn't have any anti-slip feet or rubber pads at the bottom. Easy fix for as you can get them for a few bucks on amazon or ebay.
Performance
I won't talk too much about the usb 3.0 read and write speeds; But I was able to get:
on a slower usb 3.0 usb drive:
21 mb/s write
31 mb/s read
the fastest USB 3.0 drive I had:
45 mb/s write
153 mb/s read
so its safe to say that the usb 3.0 hub works well with data transfers. The speeds will mostly depend on your peripheral you're using
The ports were able to charge an array of devices. Different combinations of the following were able to be charged with no problem:
Nexus 5
Nexus 7 2013
Ipad 2
Ipad 4
Sansa Clip+ mp3 player
Galaxy S3
Galaxy S2
Conclusion
For what this little gadget does I think it's a no brainer to have for us tech geeks. Small, functional and multi-purpose.
Hello!
Is the new galaxy phone capable of using a USB-C to HDMI adapter to mirror the screen on another screen? Couldnt really find any good information regarding this.
Looking forward to answers.
- Petter
I read in several articles that the port does display port over usb c. So that should mean with a c to hdmi cable that it does up to hdmi 2a
Don't have the phone to check it for sure. It uses the dp over c to talk with the Dex dock. Which makes it frustrating that the dock only outputs hdmi.

If it works the same as the Note 7, then yes. There was an adapter that was required though.

Is it possible to passthrough multichannel bitstream audio like dolby Digital, dts in 5.1 or 7.1? Over hdmi from kodi or vlc Player? Or Amazon Video and Netflix?
Has anyone found a way to send audio out as passthrough from usbc-hdmi ? Only way I can receive sound to my amp at the moment is stereo ! No 5.1/7.1 being output ! Would dex do that ? And also anyway to change ratio being output ? When playing a video from usnc-hdmi with mxplayer or kodi it's not full screen need a way to change aspect ratio like it is possible with wireless screencast !
If anyone got better luck than me please let me know as samsung support is absolutely helpless and don't even know what I'm talking about lol
Use smart view with a chrome cast or smart tv works a charm
Sent from my SM-G955F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
That's what I do but this way I can't cast high bit rate high quality files without stuttering / stop &go and the audio is not sent in 5.1 or 7.1
Does mirroring a 4K video from the Galaxy S8 to a 2016 KS9000 Samsung TV through Smart View will mirror in 4K quality or does it mirror in 1080P by default even though the video is in 4K resolution?
Depending on the app you use it will try mirroring in 4K and fails miserably as there's not enough bandwidth to do it and will continually be choppy and will pause and play in loop. Just limitations concurrent hardware I suppose.
Bump... anyone ? Any suggestion ?
I have tried the Type C to Display Port cable. It works, but just screen sharing. it doesn't get into dex mode.
https://www.samsung.com/ca/support/tv-audio-video/what-is-the-mhl-port/
Link indicates that only mhl ready hdmi ports can receive (and hence galaxy phones can output) uncompressed sound (5.1 or more). If I understand it correctly, it means normal hdmi ports can't get 5.1 through USB c to hdmi. Sad.
I got the original USB-C to USB-C cable for my Kebap on my charger. On the PC with Windows 10 on a very new MSI motherboard I used some cheap USB-C to USB cable for everything regarding my smartphone. Now I felt that the old cheap USB-C cable was a bit too short and got a pretty good looking mesh covered USB-C to USB with 2 meters length. Now I realized that ADB does not work with it. Data transfer is fine on the PC, but ADB just turns on and off the connection all the time looping. I checked with the old cable on the same USB port on the PC, and it works fine. Checked the new cable on some other USB port, not working. For my Trezor hardware wallet the new cable works.
How comes that some cables work, and others don't? I thought as long as they are sold as "data cable" suitable for syncing stuff, all should work?
C to C cable is kind of mess, especially those with E-Mark chip, they can negotiate the communication protocol(USB3/4_GEN1/GEN2 Thunderbolt3/4_20Gbps/40Gbps…) and current with the system or charger.
So different type C to C cable will act different, cable it self can backward compatible, oneplus 8T USB prot is USB3.1 GEN1(USB2.0 compatible), any C to C cable should work fine(I use tunderbolt3 cable do all the stuff).
Oneplus 8T C to C cable connector only has 2 data pin(D+ D-), means is USB2.0 only cable.
In your case, there are two possible situations;
1> New cable is USB3.X or higher(use more pin/core), but the core is low quality or damaged, or the phone/cable connector is dirty or oxidized. try unplug/plug different side several times, or use another cable.
2> Some PCIE GEN 4.0 AMD motherboard/laptop has USB disconnect issues, try set PCIE to GEN3 may solve this problem.
Or, just use USB2.0 only cable, for maximum compatibility….

Thanks for all the info.
Went to the hardware store, and got me some higher quality USB-A to USB-C cable (15$ - more than double the price of the cheap one), and ADB works mow. The eBay seller of the cheap cable with mesh just wrote me, that he will send me another piece. I will test that, and then I will know if it's just lame ass cable quality or some defect.
E-mark Cable info dump? You got a gadget to analyze smartphone cables? Nice.
Hello, why do 2 different USB-C-to-HDMI cables NOT deliver any signal to the beamer? I used 2 brandnew cables (from Anker resp. Warrky), but the screen remains blank, as if nothing had been connected. On the other hand, this Full-HD-Beamer easily shows signals from sat-receiver (HDMI to HDMI), DSLR (USB-A to HDMI) and laptop (display port to HDMI).
Connecting the Pixel 7 Pro via USB-C-to-HDMI directly to the beamer (not to a HDMI multi-plug), I see these messages on the Pixel 7 Pro, that don't seem as expected (re-translated to English by me):
- attached device charged via USB (while the cable description says, "no charging possible")
- device controlling the USB connection: Connected Device (meaning the beamer obviously)
There is no change possible, for instance it's not possible to set "This Device" (the Pixel 7 Pro) as controlling device. Also the use for the USB connection (like file transfer, USB tether etc.) can't be changed at all. It is all grayed out and fixed to "PTP" (picture transfer protocol), which seems not to make sense?
According to data sheets, the Pixel 7 Pro has USB-C 3.2 Gen. 2 – and according to the cables' descriptions, with this the signal should go from mobile to beamer.
Do you have any idea? Are there other devices, perhaps even wireless? Thanks!
PS. I mainly would view mobile photos and Youtube videos. Audio would be transferred on a separate Bluetooth connection.
The phone doesn't support it. You can only use a displaylink device and it's a ****ty experience.
The pixel 8 will include displayport and should support HDMI adapters.

You could use a Chromecast for that, and they are inexpensive. I think you would need to send audio from your projector (I think that's what you mean by "beamer") though.
I was disappointed a phone in this price point didn't include MHL.
I use an hdmi adapter bought from best buy called ( J Create Adapter). App on playstore.
Best $29 adapter with unnoticeable latency..

Hi all, thanks for clarifying info, photos + screens!
It's disappointing indeed that you can't use a simple USB-C to HDMI adapter.
I will look at Chromecast and at that Best Buy adapter, if i do get it in my territory.
Yes, with "beamer" i meant projector.
Anyone knows if there is a change that Google enable a kind of desktop mode on pixel 7 pro if the 8 does support it? From what I understood the hardware can support it but it misses something in USB driver am I right? Or I'm dreaming and will be forced to switch to the 8 to get the feature?
